Data for the study were collected by recording and transcribing a whole session of oral English test. By noting down and classifying different types of communicative feature occurred in the recording, the research aims to locate the difficulties the learners have in managing smooth conversation, analyze the possible reasons and get enlightenment for oral English teaching from a teacher-researcher perspective.展开更多

Smoking accounts for almost half of the deaths in middle age in some regions. In Uganda, translating findings into policy action is slow and involves several stakeholders. It will continue to require support from tobacco control campaign groups. This paper analyses secondary literature on tobacco smoking and later provides an appropriate medium based communication strategy that can be adopted to counteract the persuasive smoking evil adverts of tobacco companies as well as creating awareness among the population of the health impacts caused by smoking.展开更多

BACKGROUND Managing critical care emergencies in children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)presents unique challenges due to their distinct sensory sensitivities,communication difficulties,and behavioral issues.Effec...BACKGROUND Managing critical care emergencies in children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)presents unique challenges due to their distinct sensory sensitivities,communication difficulties,and behavioral issues.Effective strategies and protocols are essential for optimal care in these high-stress situations.AIM To systematically evaluate and synthesize current evidence on best practices for managing critical care emergencies in children with ASD.The review focuses on key areas,including sensory-friendly environments,communication strategies,behavioral management,and the role of multidisciplinary approaches.METHODS A comprehensive search was conducted across major medical databases,including PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Library,for studies published between 2000 and 2023.Studies were selected based on their relevance to critical care management in children with ASD,encompassing randomized controlled trials,observational studies,qualitative research,and case studies.Data were extracted and analyzed to identify common themes,successful strategies,and areas for improvement.RESULTS The review identified 50 studies that met the inclusion criteria.Findings highlighted the importance of creating sensory-friendly environments,utilizing effective communication strategies,and implementing individualized behavioral management plans.These findings,derived from a comprehensive review of current evidence,provide valuable insights into the best practices for managing critical care emergencies in children with ASD.Sensory modifications,such as reduced lighting and noise,visual aids,and augmentative and alternative communication tools,enhanced patient comfort and cooperation.The involvement of multidisciplinary teams was crucial in delivering holistic care.Case studies provided practical insights and underscored the need for continuous refi-nement of protocols.CONCLUSION The review emphasizes the need for a tailored approach to managing critical care emergencies for children with ASD.Sensory-friendly adjustments,effective communication,and behavioral strategies supported by a mul-tidisciplinary team are integral to improving outcomes.Despite progress,ongoing refinement of care practices and protocols is necessary.This ongoing process addresses remaining challenges and engages healthcare professionals in continuous improvement of care for children with ASD in critical settings.展开更多
BACKGROUND Child vaccination plays a great role in preventing infectious diseases in children.While Ethiopia has emphasized child vaccination,its effectiveness largely depends on efficient communication between health...BACKGROUND Child vaccination plays a great role in preventing infectious diseases in children.While Ethiopia has emphasized child vaccination,its effectiveness largely depends on efficient communication between health practitioners and mothers/caregivers.Thus,sufficient communication contributes to promoting child immunization and in turn improving child health.AIM To examine child vaccine communication practices and strategies as well as their relationship with sociodemographic characteristics of respondents in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.METHODS A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted using a pretested Likert scale questionnaire and distributed to 123 health workers in primary healthcare centers between April 2024 and June 2024.The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics.RESULTS The results indicated that the most common vaccine communication activities included education and communication(mean score=24.1),vaccine data registration(mean score=8.86),and information exchange(mean score=8.3).A significant correlation was found between the implementation of interpersonal health communication principles and immunization communication training(F=341.756,P=0.000,P<0.05).However,no significant correlations were observed between age,education,work experience,and vaccine communication practices.Additionally,the study found that the application of interpersonal communication principles was associated with the perceived relevance of immunization communication(F=27.790,P=0.000,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Based on the findings the study concluded that communication practice in promoting child immunization is insufficient.To enhance vaccine acceptance,continuous immunization communication training for health workers is recommended.展开更多

The meta-heuristic algorithm is a global probabilistic search algorithm for the iterative solution.It has good performance in global optimization fields such as maximization.In this paper,a new adaptive parameter stra...The meta-heuristic algorithm is a global probabilistic search algorithm for the iterative solution.It has good performance in global optimization fields such as maximization.In this paper,a new adaptive parameter strategy and a parallel communication strategy are proposed to further improve the Cuckoo Search(CS)algorithm.This strategy greatly improves the convergence speed and accuracy of the algorithm and strengthens the algorithm’s ability to jump out of the local optimal.This paper compares the optimization performance of Parallel Adaptive Cuckoo Search(PACS)with CS,Parallel Cuckoo Search(PCS),Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Sine Cosine Algorithm(SCA),Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO),Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA),Differential Evolution(DE)and Artificial Bee Colony(ABC)algorithms by using the CEC-2013 test function.The results show that PACS algorithmoutperforms other algorithms in 20 of 28 test functions.Due to the superior performance of PACS algorithm,this paper uses it to solve the problem of the rectangular layout.Experimental results show that this scheme has a significant effect,and the material utilization rate is improved from89.5%to 97.8%after optimization.展开更多

But resistance may arise from such a dramatic shift, since it is associated with high uncertainty in conjunction with increasing responsibilities of all stakeholders, the urgent need of effective control, and the development of a process. To ensure the positive influence, coherent actions of all players, and appropriate treatment of the spots of resistance, the analysis of the interplay between key stakeholders has been done. Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)programs.Given the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on le...Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)programs.Given the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on learning outcomes,it is imperative that teachers establish positive emotional rapport with their students.This study explores how experienced and highly rated EMI lecturers at a Chinese university’s overseas campus use communication strategies to build rapport with their students during interactive academic activities.It identifies the strategies used by these lecturers and examines how the strategies facilitate the teaching-learning process.The data,consisting of 10 hours of tutorials and 10 hours of supervisor-student supervision meetings,is analyzed using an adapted Conversation Analysis(CA)approach.The analysis reveals three types of communication strategies(CSs)frequently used by lecturers:back-channeling,codeswitching,and co-creation of messages.By employing these strategies,the lecturers established a strong rapport with the students,which created an encouraging and supportive learning environment.Consequently,this positive atmosphere facilitated students’learning of content knowledge through English.The findings of this study have implications for the training of lecturers who encounter difficulties in establishing rapport with multilingual students in the EMI setting.展开更多

文摘To decrease the impact of shorter product life cycles,dynamic cell formation problems(CFPs)and cell layout problems(CLPs)were simultaneously optimized.First,CFPs and CLPs were formally described.Due to the changes of product demands and the lim it of machine capacity,the existing layout needed to be rearranged to a high degree.Secondly,a mathematical model was established for the objective function of minimizing the total costs.Thirdly,a novel dynamic multi-swarm particle swarm optimization(DMS-PSO)algorithm based on the communication learning strategy(CLS)was developed.Toavoid falling into local optimum and slow convergence,each swarm shared their optimal locations before regrouping.Finally,simulation experiments were conducted under different conditions.Numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm has better stability and it converges faster than other existing algorithms.
文摘Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)programs.Given the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on learning outcomes,it is imperative that teachers establish positive emotional rapport with their students.This study explores how experienced and highly rated EMI lecturers at a Chinese university’s overseas campus use communication strategies to build rapport with their students during interactive academic activities.It identifies the strategies used by these lecturers and examines how the strategies facilitate the teaching-learning process.The data,consisting of 10 hours of tutorials and 10 hours of supervisor-student supervision meetings,is analyzed using an adapted Conversation Analysis(CA)approach.The analysis reveals three types of communication strategies(CSs)frequently used by lecturers:back-channeling,codeswitching,and co-creation of messages.By employing these strategies,the lecturers established a strong rapport with the students,which created an encouraging and supportive learning environment.Consequently,this positive atmosphere facilitated students’learning of content knowledge through English.The findings of this study have implications for the training of lecturers who encounter difficulties in establishing rapport with multilingual students in the EMI setting.
