Effective communication between nurses and patients is crucial for therapeutic interactions.It influences trust,patient satisfaction,adherence,and overall health outcomes.Various communication models have been develop...Effective communication between nurses and patients is crucial for therapeutic interactions.It influences trust,patient satisfaction,adherence,and overall health outcomes.Various communication models have been developed over time to guide practice,incorporating fundamental concepts of therapeutic encounters;nevertheless,the majority are not designed for application in both inpatient and outpatient settings.The SAIDAR communication model is suggested to address this disparity.This review integrates elements of an integrative review with a critical review perspective to provide a narrative synthesis of theoretical and applied communication models derived from seminal works in the field of health communication.Using the CINAHL,Scopus,and Web of Science databases without date restrictions,the selected seminal authors were retrieved.Elicit,an artificial intelligence-driven research assistant,and the Google Scholar search engine were utilized together,and citation chaining facilitated the retrieval of relevant studies,which were analyzed using inductive dominant thematic analysis.Thirteen studies beneficial to the review question were included,and six themes were generated.These themes were salutation,assessing the environment,informing and explaining the task,doing,demonstrating,and performing the task;applauding,correcting,and appreciating,and reinforcing knowledge of the receiver of care.The critical analysis of these themes culminated in the formulation of the SAIDAR communication model.The current model integrates a structured communication framework that acknowledges the individuality of man and environmental assessment and demonstrates,appreciates,and reinforces knowledge.This model is an adaptable and acontextual communication tool suitable for various healthcare environments.展开更多

With the increasing presence of robots in our daily life,there is a strong need and demand for the strategies to acquire a high quality interaction between robots and users by enabling robots to understand users’mood...With the increasing presence of robots in our daily life,there is a strong need and demand for the strategies to acquire a high quality interaction between robots and users by enabling robots to understand users’mood,intention,and other aspects.During human-human interaction,personality traits have an important influence on human behavior,decision,mood,and many others.Therefore,we propose an efficient computational framework to endow the robot with the capability of understanding the user’s personality traits based on the user’s nonverbal communication cues represented by three visual features including the head motion,gaze,and body motion energy,and three vocal features including voice pitch,voice energy,and mel-frequency cepstral coefficient(MFCC).We used the Pepper robot in this study as a communication robot to interact with each participant by asking questions,and meanwhile,the robot extracts the nonverbal features from each participant’s habitual behavior using its on-board sensors.On the other hand,each participant’s personality traits are evaluated with a questionnaire.We then train the ridge regression and linear support vector machine(SVM)classifiers using the nonverbal features and personality trait labels from a questionnaire and evaluate the performance of the classifiers.We have verified the validity of the proposed models that showed promising binary classification performance on recognizing each of the Big Five personality traits of the participants based on individual differences in nonverbal communication cues.展开更多

Using...In this paper I describe the ways in which the communication discipline can make a hidden crisis transparent. For this purpose I examine the concept of crisis entrepreneurship from a communication point of view. Using discourse analysis, I analyse the discursive practices of crisis entrepreneurs in the domain of education in the Netherlands. This paper is part of my Ph.D. project in which I examine the dilemmas encountered by crisis entrepreneurs and the interactional solutions they choose in addressing a crisis. In my Ph.D. project I have analysed how crisis entrepreneurs use discursive practices: (1) to show thefactuality of the problem. For example, the way the problem is presented is too theoretical and is not a problem in reality; (2) to present the credibility of the messenger as an authentic, legitimate spokesman. Crisis entrepreneurs may be accused of wanting to attract attention to their own cause; (3) to create the accountability for the problem and the solution. For example, crisis entrepreneurs can be accused of nursing personal grievances or of drawing attention to the issue without actively attempting to solve it. The conclusion is that a communication professional is able to recognize a problem raised by crisis entrepreneurs. Knowledge of interactional dilemmas helps communication professionals understand the potential of crisis entrepreneurs. A communication professional can therefore contribute to the recognition of crises by acknowledging that a crisis entrepreneur is someone who can have a strong hand in the public agenda, i.e., public affairs that are important to the authorities.展开更多

In science communication people, for example, experts or scientists attempt to persuade lay people about the validity of their assessments. Currently dialogue in science communication might be seen as an important way to deliver information about sciences to the public as previously communicating science was conducted through top-down approaches. In addition, currently there is a tendency that people prefer to deliver and to receive information about sciences through two-way communication models between two or more parties, face-to-face or mediated by any means of communication as this way of communication is seen as more interactive. In the context of Indonesia, in terms of social science communication, this is an important phenomenon to investigate as two-way communication models might bridge the gap between expert opinion and lay opinion, where lay opinion is often seen as irrational or emotional. However, there are still a small number of studies with regard to how social sciences are communicated to the public and in what ways people preferred to deliver, moreover to discuss information within social sciences. One of the potential reasons is that research on science communication is mainly focused on natural and physical sciences. Integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)is an appealing approach to address spectrum congestion and beamforming is an effective method to realize ISAC.In this paper,we investigate the beamforming design problem for ...Integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)is an appealing approach to address spectrum congestion and beamforming is an effective method to realize ISAC.In this paper,we investigate the beamforming design problem for multiple-input multipleoutput(MIMO)ISAC systems and propose to maximize the radar beampattern gain of the target direction while ensuring the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR)constraints of communication users.Particularly,we discuss two cases of ISAC transmit beamforming,i.e.,Case-Ⅰand Case-Ⅱ,which do not have and do have the dedicated probing signal,respectively.For these two cases of transmit beamforming design problems,we start from the single-user scenario and provide the closed-form solutions for MIMO ISAC beamforming vectors.Then,we consider the multiuser scenario and utilize the semidefinite relaxation technique to convert the beamforming design problems into convex semidefinite programming problems.Furthermore,we investigate the impact of the channel correlation between radar and communication on the performance gain of MIMO ISAC systems and characterize the performance tradeoff.Numerical results validate that the dedicated probing signal is unnecessary in the single-user scenario,whereas it has a slight improvement in target detection performance at low SINR thresholds in the multi-user scenario.It is also shown that the stronger the correlation between radar and communication channels,the greater the performance gain of the system.展开更多

With the development of artificial intelligence(AI)and 5G technology,the integration of sensing,communication and computing in the Internet of Vehicles(Io V)is becoming a trend.However,the large amount of data transmi...With the development of artificial intelligence(AI)and 5G technology,the integration of sensing,communication and computing in the Internet of Vehicles(Io V)is becoming a trend.However,the large amount of data transmission and the computing requirements of intelligent tasks lead to the complex resource management problems.In view of the above challenges,this paper proposes a tasks-oriented joint resource allocation scheme(TOJRAS)in the scenario of Io V.First,this paper proposes a system model with sensing,communication,and computing integration for multiple intelligent tasks with different requirements in the Io V.Secondly,joint resource allocation problems for real-time tasks and delay-tolerant tasks in the Io V are constructed respectively,including communication,computing and caching resources.Thirdly,a distributed deep Q-network(DDQN)based algorithm is proposed to solve the optimization problems,and the convergence and complexity of the algorithm are discussed.Finally,the experimental results based on real data sets verify the performance advantages of the proposed resource allocation scheme,compared to the existing ones.The exploration efficiency of our proposed DDQN-based algorithm is improved by at least about 5%,and our proposed resource allocation scheme improves the m AP performance by about 0.15 under resource constraints.展开更多

Recently,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-aided free-space optical(FSO)communication has attracted widespread attentions.However,most of the existing research focuses on communication performance only.The authors investig...Recently,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-aided free-space optical(FSO)communication has attracted widespread attentions.However,most of the existing research focuses on communication performance only.The authors investigate the integrated scheduling of communication,sensing,and control for UAV-aided FSO communication systems.Initially,a sensing-control model is established via the control theory.Moreover,an FSO communication channel model is established by considering the effects of atmospheric loss,atmospheric turbulence,geometrical loss,and angle-of-arrival fluctuation.Then,the relationship between the motion control of the UAV and radial displacement is obtained to link the control aspect and communication aspect.Assuming that the base station has instantaneous channel state information(CSI)or statistical CSI,the thresholds of the sensing-control pattern activation are designed,respectively.Finally,an integrated scheduling scheme for performing communication,sensing,and control is proposed.Numerical results indicate that,compared with conventional time-triggered scheme,the proposed integrated scheduling scheme obtains comparable communication and control performance,but reduces the sensing consumed power by 52.46%.展开更多

文摘With the increasing presence of robots in our daily life,there is a strong need and demand for the strategies to acquire a high quality interaction between robots and users by enabling robots to understand users’mood,intention,and other aspects.During human-human interaction,personality traits have an important influence on human behavior,decision,mood,and many others.Therefore,we propose an efficient computational framework to endow the robot with the capability of understanding the user’s personality traits based on the user’s nonverbal communication cues represented by three visual features including the head motion,gaze,and body motion energy,and three vocal features including voice pitch,voice energy,and mel-frequency cepstral coefficient(MFCC).We used the Pepper robot in this study as a communication robot to interact with each participant by asking questions,and meanwhile,the robot extracts the nonverbal features from each participant’s habitual behavior using its on-board sensors.On the other hand,each participant’s personality traits are evaluated with a questionnaire.We then train the ridge regression and linear support vector machine(SVM)classifiers using the nonverbal features and personality trait labels from a questionnaire and evaluate the performance of the classifiers.We have verified the validity of the proposed models that showed promising binary classification performance on recognizing each of the Big Five personality traits of the participants based on individual differences in nonverbal communication cues.

文摘The discovery of the central monoamine neurons not only demonstrated novel types of brain stem neurons forming global terminal networks all over the brain and the spinal cord,but also to a novel type of communication called volume transmission.It is a major mode of communication in the central nervous system that takes places in the extracellular fluid and the cerebral spinal fluid through diffusion and flow of molecules,like neurotransmitters and extracellular vesicles.The integration of synaptic and volume transmission takes place through allosteric receptor-receptor interactions in heteroreceptor complexes.These heterocomplexes represent major integrator centres in the plasma membrane and their protomers act as moonlighting proteins undergoing dynamic changes and their structure and function.In fact,we propose that the molecular bases of learning and memory can be based on the reorganization of multiples homo and heteroreceptor complexes into novel assembles in the post-junctional membranes of synapses.
文摘In this paper I describe the ways in which the communication discipline can make a hidden crisis transparent. For this purpose I examine the concept of crisis entrepreneurship from a communication point of view. Using discourse analysis, I analyse the discursive practices of crisis entrepreneurs in the domain of education in the Netherlands. This paper is part of my Ph.D. project in which I examine the dilemmas encountered by crisis entrepreneurs and the interactional solutions they choose in addressing a crisis. In my Ph.D. project I have analysed how crisis entrepreneurs use discursive practices: (1) to show thefactuality of the problem. For example, the way the problem is presented is too theoretical and is not a problem in reality; (2) to present the credibility of the messenger as an authentic, legitimate spokesman. Crisis entrepreneurs may be accused of wanting to attract attention to their own cause; (3) to create the accountability for the problem and the solution. For example, crisis entrepreneurs can be accused of nursing personal grievances or of drawing attention to the issue without actively attempting to solve it. The conclusion is that a communication professional is able to recognize a problem raised by crisis entrepreneurs. Knowledge of interactional dilemmas helps communication professionals understand the potential of crisis entrepreneurs. A communication professional can therefore contribute to the recognition of crises by acknowledging that a crisis entrepreneur is someone who can have a strong hand in the public agenda, i.e., public affairs that are important to the authorities.

文摘The study in this paper that draws on dialogic interaction is a focus of investigation as the way to communicate social sciences to the public. In science communication people, for example, experts or scientists attempt to persuade lay people about the validity of their assessments. Currently dialogue in science communication might be seen as an important way to deliver information about sciences to the public as previously communicating science was conducted through top-down approaches. In addition, currently there is a tendency that people prefer to deliver and to receive information about sciences through two-way communication models between two or more parties, face-to-face or mediated by any means of communication as this way of communication is seen as more interactive. In the context of Indonesia, in terms of social science communication, this is an important phenomenon to investigate as two-way communication models might bridge the gap between expert opinion and lay opinion, where lay opinion is often seen as irrational or emotional. However, there are still a small number of studies with regard to how social sciences are communicated to the public and in what ways people preferred to deliver, moreover to discuss information within social sciences. One of the potential reasons is that research on science communication is mainly focused on natural and physical sciences. Since the study in this paper focuses on dialogic interactions in social science communication, this study will contribute to the current discussions of mass communication, in terms of science communication, and to related fields.

文摘Integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)is an appealing approach to address spectrum congestion and beamforming is an effective method to realize ISAC.In this paper,we investigate the beamforming design problem for multiple-input multipleoutput(MIMO)ISAC systems and propose to maximize the radar beampattern gain of the target direction while ensuring the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR)constraints of communication users.Particularly,we discuss two cases of ISAC transmit beamforming,i.e.,Case-Ⅰand Case-Ⅱ,which do not have and do have the dedicated probing signal,respectively.For these two cases of transmit beamforming design problems,we start from the single-user scenario and provide the closed-form solutions for MIMO ISAC beamforming vectors.Then,we consider the multiuser scenario and utilize the semidefinite relaxation technique to convert the beamforming design problems into convex semidefinite programming problems.Furthermore,we investigate the impact of the channel correlation between radar and communication on the performance gain of MIMO ISAC systems and characterize the performance tradeoff.Numerical results validate that the dedicated probing signal is unnecessary in the single-user scenario,whereas it has a slight improvement in target detection performance at low SINR thresholds in the multi-user scenario.It is also shown that the stronger the correlation between radar and communication channels,the greater the performance gain of the system.

文摘Chemical communication in plant–microbiome and intra-microbiome interactions weaves a complex network,critically shaping ecosystem stability and agricultural productivity.This non-contact interaction is driven by small-molecule signals that orchestrate crosstalk dynamics and beneficial association.Plants leverage these signals to distinguish between pathogens and beneficial microbes,dynamically modulate immune responses,and secrete exudates to recruit a beneficial microbiome,while microbes in turn influence plant nutrient acquisition and stress resilience.Such bidirectional chemical dialogues underpin nutrient cycling,co-evolution,microbiome assembly,and plant resistance.However,knowledge gaps persist regarding validating the key molecules involved in plant–microbe interactions.Interpreting chemical communication requires multi-omics integration to predict key information,genome editing and click chemistry to verify the function of biomolecules,and artificial intelligence(AI)models to improve resolution and accuracy.This review helps advance the understanding of chemical communication and provides theoretical support for agriculture to cope with food insecurity and climate challenges.

文摘Mobile communication standards have been developed into a new era of B5G and 6G.In recent years,low earth orbit(LEO)satellites and space Internet have become hot topics.The integrated satellite and terrestrial systems have been widely discussed by industries and academics,and even are expected to be applied in those huge constellations in construction.This paper points out the trends of two stages towards system integration of the terrestrial mobile communication and the satellite communications:to be compatible with 5G,and to be integrated within 6G.Based on analysis of the challenges of both stages,key technologies are thereafter analyzed in detail,covering both air interface currently discussed in 3GPP for B5G and also novel network architecture and related transmission technologies toward future 6G.

文摘With the development of artificial intelligence(AI)and 5G technology,the integration of sensing,communication and computing in the Internet of Vehicles(Io V)is becoming a trend.However,the large amount of data transmission and the computing requirements of intelligent tasks lead to the complex resource management problems.In view of the above challenges,this paper proposes a tasks-oriented joint resource allocation scheme(TOJRAS)in the scenario of Io V.First,this paper proposes a system model with sensing,communication,and computing integration for multiple intelligent tasks with different requirements in the Io V.Secondly,joint resource allocation problems for real-time tasks and delay-tolerant tasks in the Io V are constructed respectively,including communication,computing and caching resources.Thirdly,a distributed deep Q-network(DDQN)based algorithm is proposed to solve the optimization problems,and the convergence and complexity of the algorithm are discussed.Finally,the experimental results based on real data sets verify the performance advantages of the proposed resource allocation scheme,compared to the existing ones.The exploration efficiency of our proposed DDQN-based algorithm is improved by at least about 5%,and our proposed resource allocation scheme improves the m AP performance by about 0.15 under resource constraints.

文摘Following the discovery of bone as an endocrine organ with systemic influence,bone-brain interaction has emerged as a research hotspot,unveiling complex bidirectional communication between bone and brain.Studies indicate that bone and brain can influence each other’s homeostasis via multiple pathways,yet there is a dearth of systematic reviews in this area.This review comprehensively examines interactions across three key areas:the influence of bone-derived factors on brain function,the effects of brain-related diseases or injuries(BRDI)on bone health,and the concept of skeletal interoception.Additionally,the review discusses innovative approaches in biomaterial design inspired by bone-brain interaction mechanisms,aiming to facilitate bonebrain interactions through materiobiological effects to aid in the treatment of neurodegenerative and bone-related diseases.Notably,the integration of artificial intelligence(AI)in biomaterial design is highlighted,showcasing AI’s role in expediting the formulation of effective and targeted treatment strategies.In conclusion,this review offers vital insights into the mechanisms of bone-brain interaction and suggests advanced approaches to harness these interactions in clinical practice.These insights offer promising avenues for preventing and treating complex diseases impacting the skeleton and brain,underscoring the potential of interdisciplinary approaches in enhancing human health.
文摘Recently,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-aided free-space optical(FSO)communication has attracted widespread attentions.However,most of the existing research focuses on communication performance only.The authors investigate the integrated scheduling of communication,sensing,and control for UAV-aided FSO communication systems.Initially,a sensing-control model is established via the control theory.Moreover,an FSO communication channel model is established by considering the effects of atmospheric loss,atmospheric turbulence,geometrical loss,and angle-of-arrival fluctuation.Then,the relationship between the motion control of the UAV and radial displacement is obtained to link the control aspect and communication aspect.Assuming that the base station has instantaneous channel state information(CSI)or statistical CSI,the thresholds of the sensing-control pattern activation are designed,respectively.Finally,an integrated scheduling scheme for performing communication,sensing,and control is proposed.Numerical results indicate that,compared with conventional time-triggered scheme,the proposed integrated scheduling scheme obtains comparable communication and control performance,but reduces the sensing consumed power by 52.46%.

文摘This paper proposes the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-assisted Full-Duplex(FD)Integrated Sensing And Communication(ISAC)system.In this system,the UAV integrates sensing and communication functions,capable of receiving transmission signals from Uplink(UL)users and echo signal from target,while communicating with Downlink(DL)users and simultaneously detecting target.With the objective of maximizing the Average Sum Rate(ASR)for both UL and DL users,a composite non-convex optimization problem is established,which is decomposed into sub-problems of communication scheduling optimization,transceiver beamforming design,and UAV trajectory optimization.An alternating iterative algorithm is proposed,employing relaxation optimization,extremum traversal search,augmented weighted minimum mean square error,and successive convex approximation methods to solve the aforementioned sub-problems.Simulation results demonstrate that,compared to the traditional UAV-assisted Half-Duplex(HD)ISAC scheme,the proposed FD ISAC scheme effectively improves the ASR.
