The International Commission on Stratigraphy(ICS)has been producing and updating its International Chro-nostratigraphic Chart for several decades.The chart communicates higher-order divisions of geological time and ac...The International Commission on Stratigraphy(ICS)has been producing and updating its International Chro-nostratigraphic Chart for several decades.The chart communicates higher-order divisions of geological time and actual knowledge on the numerical ages of their bound-aries.Distributed via the ICS website www.stratigraphy.org the chart promotes use in graphic,tabulated and further digital forms in multiple languages.This paper is a status update,eleven years since the last such publication,cov-ering activities between 2012 and 2024.Chart updates during the past decade have echoed the ICS’s primary objective of precisely defining a global standard set of time-correlative units(Systems,Series,Stages)for stratigraphic successions worldwide.These units are,in turn,the basis for the Periods,Epochs,and Ages of the Geological Time Scale.Their standardization is fundamental for expressing geological knowledge,in application and education,out-reach and continuing research.The chart offers a frame-work through which regional-scale higher-resolution divisions can be linked,equated and collated.Likewise it offers a framework for digital representation of the Geological Time Scale.Maintenance and distribution of chart versions on the web has been a manual endeavour,a process that ICS is upgrading to serve an increasingly digital world.展开更多

Given the comprehensive reforms of and the temporary good scores achieved by the Commissions of Party Discipline Inspection (CDIs), it is important to understand these reforms to answer how long this anticorruption ...Given the comprehensive reforms of and the temporary good scores achieved by the Commissions of Party Discipline Inspection (CDIs), it is important to understand these reforms to answer how long this anticorruption movement could last and whether it could finally succeed. Targeted at the CDIs' historical problems and the adapting problems of the specialized-anticorruption-commission model (SAC), this article is composed of five parts, including: the historical non-specialized mission and the structural three-transform reform of the CDIs; the historical non-independence of the CDIs within the dual leadership framework, and its recent reforms; a new understanding of the sufficiency of the CDIs' capacity compared with China's Hong Kong's ICAC, a successful example of the SAC, to overcome the distance problem in adapting the SAC; recent reforms on the accountability and disclosures of the CDIs to overcome the time consistency problem; and the conclusions for current achievements, with brief discussions of recent anticorruption strategies and the limitations or unresolved issues, and the lessons to adapt the SAC.展开更多
The high-energy photon source(HEPS)is the first fourth-generation synchrotron light source facility in China.The HEPS injector consists of a linear accelerator(Linac)and a full energy booster.The booster captures the ...The high-energy photon source(HEPS)is the first fourth-generation synchrotron light source facility in China.The HEPS injector consists of a linear accelerator(Linac)and a full energy booster.The booster captures the electron beam from the Linac and increases its energy to the value required for the storage ring.The full-energy beam could be injected to the storage ring directly or after“high-energy accumulation.”On November 17,2023,the key booster parameters successfully reached their corresponding target values.These milestone results were achieved based on numerous contributions,including nearly a decade of physical design,years of equipment development and installation,and months of beam commissioning.As measured at the extraction energy of 6 GeV,the averaged beam current and emittance reached 8.57 mA with 5 bunches and 30.37 nm rad with a single-bunch charge of 5.58 nC,compared with the corresponding target values of 6.6 mA and 35 nm rad,respectively.This paper presents the physical design,equipment development,installation,and commissioning process of the HEPS booster.展开更多
BACKGROUND Accreditation processes are extensively employed to guarantee the quality of higher education institutions.However,this process can potentially generate a stressful atmosphere for staff,thus impacting their...BACKGROUND Accreditation processes are extensively employed to guarantee the quality of higher education institutions.However,this process can potentially generate a stressful atmosphere for staff,thus impacting their ability to perform optimally under pressure.AIM To examine the knowledge of the National Commission for Academic Assessment and Accreditation(NCAAA)and its effects on perceived stress among dental college staff before and after the program accreditation process.METHODS The present cross-sectional questionnaire-based study included 300 employees from three dental colleges.The same employees had to fill out the questionnaire 1 mo after the NCAAA process.RESULTS Approximately 51.33%of the included employees believed that NCAAA is essential to attract quality students to join the program before and after the program.A total of 44.67%felt that their stress was high before,and 31.33%had low stress levels before and after NCAAA.These findings were statistically significant(P≤0.05).CONCLUSION NCAAA raised the prestige of the institution and specific programmes and increased prospects to attract better students,staff,and money,according to the employees.In addition to their needed teaching,research,and other service responsibilities,this work requires a tremendous amount of faculty effort and may cause them stress.展开更多

The research assesses key factors influencing safety, including the certification of electricians, the quality of cable brands used, proper cable sizing, adherence to wiring color codes, the awareness and use of Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs), and the protection of earth electrodes. A descriptive research design was utilized, involving extensive field surveys and electrical installation audits. Data were collected using standardized tools and analyzed with SPSS software to evaluate the professional competencies of artisans and their adherence to safety standards. The findings indicate significant safety risks, with 69.7% of electricians lacking proper certification, leading to the widespread use of non-approved cable brands, improper cable sizing, and deviations from wiring color codes. Additionally, deficiencies were found in the awareness and use of RCCBs and the protection of earth electrodes. The study concludes with recommendations to enhance electrical safety, including mandatory certification for electricians, public awareness campaigns, regular inspections, and ongoing training and development programs. These measures are crucial for improving the overall safety and quality of electrical installations in the Suame area, Ghana.展开更多
The Ideale section(IS)at Montalbano Jonico,Italy,has been approved as a Standard Auxiliary Boundary Stratotype(SABS)for the Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP)of the Middle Pleistocene Subseries/Subepoc...The Ideale section(IS)at Montalbano Jonico,Italy,has been approved as a Standard Auxiliary Boundary Stratotype(SABS)for the Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP)of the Middle Pleistocene Subseries/Subepoch and Chibanian Stage/Age at the Chiba section,Japan.The proposal was submitted to the voting members of the International Commission on Stratigraphy’s Subcommission on Quaternary Stratigraphy(SQS)on May 4,2023,and following discussions was approved on July 8,2023.The 74 m thick IS continuously spans the Marine Isotope Stage(MIS)20–18 interval,and is part of the longer Montalbano Jonico succession(Basilicata,southern Italy in the Mediterranean region)encompassing MIS 37 to early MIS 16.The IS provides a detailed record based on multiple chronologically well constrained marine and terrestrial proxies,which are particularly useful for outlining the paleoclimatic evolution through the Lower–Middle Pleistocene transition.The high-resolution carbon and oxygen isotope stratigraphy outlines glacial–interglacial and stadial–interstadial phases as well as the sub-millennialscale features of Termination IX and the onset of MIS 19c.The sapropel layer equivalent to insolation cycle 74(784 ka)occurs in early MIS 19c.A prominent peak in the 10Be/9Be record at the MIS 19c–19b transition identifies the low geomagnetic dipole moment associated with the Matuyama–Brunhes boundary interval.Two tephra layers(V3 and V4)relevant to boundary interval are 40Ar/39Ar dated.The V4 layer,occurring at the MIS 19c–b transition and in the middle of the 10Be/9Be peak,has an age of 774.1±0.9 ka,corresponding to the age of the Middle Pleistocene GSSP.A high-resolution alkenone sea-surface temperature and several paleobiological records complement the rich chronological and paleoenvironmental dataset from MIS 20 to the inception of MIS 18.The GSSP boundary interval in the IS is represented from 35.50 to 39.50 m,which corresponds to the interval of the highest values of the 10Be/9Be ratio(~776.35–771.87 ka)and includes the V4 tephra layer and the MIS 19c–MIS 19b transition.This SABS extends the correlation potential of the Middle Pleistocene Subseries/Subepoch GSSP interval to the Mediterranean region.展开更多

文摘The Ideale section(IS)at Montalbano Jonico,Italy,has been approved as a Standard Auxiliary Boundary Stratotype(SABS)for the Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP)of the Middle Pleistocene Subseries/Subepoch and Chibanian Stage/Age at the Chiba section,Japan.The proposal was submitted to the voting members of the International Commission on Stratigraphy’s Subcommission on Quaternary Stratigraphy(SQS)on May 4,2023,and following discussions was approved on July 8,2023.The 74 m thick IS continuously spans the Marine Isotope Stage(MIS)20–18 interval,and is part of the longer Montalbano Jonico succession(Basilicata,southern Italy in the Mediterranean region)encompassing MIS 37 to early MIS 16.The IS provides a detailed record based on multiple chronologically well constrained marine and terrestrial proxies,which are particularly useful for outlining the paleoclimatic evolution through the Lower–Middle Pleistocene transition.The high-resolution carbon and oxygen isotope stratigraphy outlines glacial–interglacial and stadial–interstadial phases as well as the sub-millennialscale features of Termination IX and the onset of MIS 19c.The sapropel layer equivalent to insolation cycle 74(784 ka)occurs in early MIS 19c.A prominent peak in the 10Be/9Be record at the MIS 19c–19b transition identifies the low geomagnetic dipole moment associated with the Matuyama–Brunhes boundary interval.Two tephra layers(V3 and V4)relevant to boundary interval are 40Ar/39Ar dated.The V4 layer,occurring at the MIS 19c–b transition and in the middle of the 10Be/9Be peak,has an age of 774.1±0.9 ka,corresponding to the age of the Middle Pleistocene GSSP.A high-resolution alkenone sea-surface temperature and several paleobiological records complement the rich chronological and paleoenvironmental dataset from MIS 20 to the inception of MIS 18.The GSSP boundary interval in the IS is represented from 35.50 to 39.50 m,which corresponds to the interval of the highest values of the 10Be/9Be ratio(~776.35–771.87 ka)and includes the V4 tephra layer and the MIS 19c–MIS 19b transition.This SABS extends the correlation potential of the Middle Pleistocene Subseries/Subepoch GSSP interval to the Mediterranean region.
