Acetylspiramycin(ASPM),a 16-membered basic macrolide antibiotic,is the acetylated derivative of spiramycin.In addition to the four main components,more than seventy minor components could be present in ASPM.Thus,it ...Acetylspiramycin(ASPM),a 16-membered basic macrolide antibiotic,is the acetylated derivative of spiramycin.In addition to the four main components,more than seventy minor components could be present in ASPM.Thus,it is a challenge to obtain a baseline separation of ASPM components.Meanwhile,in some cases it was found that the results obtained by different brands of C_(18) columns were significantly different,indicating the necessity of a rational column selection for the separation of ASPM components.In this paper,we attempted to facilitate column selection for the analysis of ASPM using the database of the column characterization system established by Leuven University.With the CAPCELL PAK MG C_(18)(250 mm×4.6 mm,5μm) as the reference column,three groups of columns(F2 group:similar selectivity;2F6:intermediate ranked group;F6 group: different selectivity,compared to the reference column) were selected,and their performances in the separation of ASPM components were evaluated under the chromatographic conditions described in Chinese Pharmacopoeia monograph.A good relationship was demonstrated between the ranking of columns and their selectivity in the separation of ASPM components,indicating the column classification system established by Leuven University was a helpful tool in the selection of suitable columns for the analysis of ASPM,a complex mixture of basic compounds.展开更多

In the present paper, the dynamics and control of the prop...In our previous work, the reactive dividing wall column(RDWC) was proposed and proved to be effective for selective hydrogenation and separation of C3 stream. In the present paper, the dynamics and control of the proposed RDWC are investigated. Four control structures including composition and temperature controls are proposed. The feed forward controllers are employed in the four control strategies to shorten the dynamic response time, reduce the maximum deviations and offer an immediate adjustment. The control structures are compared by applying them into the RDWC system with 20% disturbances in both the feed flow rate and the feed compositions, and the results are discussed.展开更多
A unified ion-exclusion chromatography(IEC) system for monitoring anionic and cationic nutrients like NH + 4,NO 2,NO 3,phosphate ion,silicate ion and HCO 3 was developed and applied to several environmental waters.The...A unified ion-exclusion chromatography(IEC) system for monitoring anionic and cationic nutrients like NH + 4,NO 2,NO 3,phosphate ion,silicate ion and HCO 3 was developed and applied to several environmental waters.The IEC system consisted of four IEC methodologies,including the IEC with ultraviolet(UV) detection at 210 nm for determining NH + 4 on anion-exchange separation column in OH form connected with anion-exchange UV-conversion column in I form in tandem,the IEC with UV-detection at 210 nm for determining simultaneously NO 2 and NO 3 on cation-exchange separation column in H + form,the IEC with UV-detection at 210 nm for determining HCO 3 on cation-exchange separation column in H + form connected with anion-exchange UV-conversion column in I form in tandem,and the IEC with visible-detection based on molybdenum-blue reaction for determining simultaneously silicate and phosphate ions on cation-exchange separation column in H + form.These IEC systems were combined through three manually-driven 6-port column selection valves to select each separation column to determine selectively the ionic nutrients.Using this sequential water quality monitoring system,the analytical performances such as calibration linearity,reproducibility,detection limit and recovery were also tested under the optimized chromatographic conditions.This novel water quality monitoring system has been applied successfully for the determination of the ionic eutrophication components in sub-urban river waters.展开更多
