In recent years,machine learning(ML)techniques have been shown to be effective in accelerating the development process of optoelectronic devices.However,as"black box"models,they have limited theoretical inte...In recent years,machine learning(ML)techniques have been shown to be effective in accelerating the development process of optoelectronic devices.However,as"black box"models,they have limited theoretical interpretability.In this work,we leverage symbolic regression(SR)technique for discovering the explicit symbolic relationship between the structure of the optoelectronic Fabry-Perot(FP)laser and its optical field distribution,which greatly improves model transparency compared to ML.We demonstrated that the expressions explored through SR exhibit lower errors on the test set compared to ML models,which suggests that the expressions have better fitting and generalization capabilities.展开更多

Code obfuscation is a crucial technique for protecting software against reverse engineering and security attacks.Among various obfuscation methods,opaque predicates,which are recognized as flexible and promising,are w...Code obfuscation is a crucial technique for protecting software against reverse engineering and security attacks.Among various obfuscation methods,opaque predicates,which are recognized as flexible and promising,are widely used to increase control-flow complexity.However,traditional opaque predicates are increasingly vulnerable to Dynamic Symbolic Execution(DSE)attacks,which can efficiently identify and eliminate them.To address this issue,this paper proposes a novel approach for anti-DSE opaque predicates that effectively resists symbolic execution-based deobfuscation.Our method introduces two key techniques:single-way function opaque predicates,which leverage hash functions and logarithmic transformations to prevent constraint solvers from generating feasible inputs,and path-explosion opaque predicates,which generate an excessive number of execution paths,overwhelming symbolic execution engines.To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach,we implemented a prototype obfuscation tool and tested it against prominent symbolic execution engines.Experimental results demonstrate that our approach signifi-cantly increases resilience against symbolic execution attacks while maintaining acceptable performance overhead.This paper provides a robust and scalable obfuscation technique,contributing to the enhancement of software protection strategies in adversarial environments.展开更多

To achieve a low-complexity nonlinearity compensation(NLC)in high-symbol-rate(HSR)systems,we propose a modified weighted digital backpropagation(M-W-DBP)by jointly shifting the calculated position of nonlinear phase n...To achieve a low-complexity nonlinearity compensation(NLC)in high-symbol-rate(HSR)systems,we propose a modified weighted digital backpropagation(M-W-DBP)by jointly shifting the calculated position of nonlinear phase noise and considering the correlation of neighboring symbols in the NLC section of DBP.Based on this model,with the aid of neural network optimization,a learned version of M-W-DBP(M-W-LDBP)is also proposed and explored.Furthermore,enough technical details are revealed for the first time,including the principle of our proposed M-W-DBP and M-W-LDBP,the training process,and the complexity analysis of different DBPclass NLC algorithms.Evaluated numerically with QPSK,16QAM,and PS-64QAM modulation formats,1-step-per-span(1-StPS)M-W-DBP/LDBP achieves up to 1.29/1.49 dB and 0.63/0.74 dB signal-to-noise ratio improvement compared to chromatic dispersion compensation(CDC)in 90-GBaud and 128-GBaud 1000-km single-channel transmission systems,respectively.Moreover,1-StPS M-W-DBP/LDBP provides a more powerful NLC ability than 2-StPS LDBP but only needs about 60%of the complexity.The effectiveness of the proposed M-W-DBP and M-W-LDBP in the presence of laser phase noise is also verified and the necessity of using the learned version of M-WDBP is also discussed.This work is a comprehensive study of M-W-DBP/LDBP and other DBP-class NLC algorithms in HSR systems.展开更多

As the risks associated with air turbulence are intensified by climate change and the growth of the aviation industry,it has become imperative to monitor and mitigate these threats to ensure civil aviation safety.The ...As the risks associated with air turbulence are intensified by climate change and the growth of the aviation industry,it has become imperative to monitor and mitigate these threats to ensure civil aviation safety.The eddy dissipation rate(EDR)has been established as the standard metric for quantifying turbulence in civil aviation.This study aims to explore a universally applicable symbolic classification approach based on genetic programming to detect turbulence anomalies using quick access recorder(QAR)data.The detection of atmospheric turbulence is approached as an anomaly detection problem.Comparative evaluations demonstrate that this approach performs on par with direct EDR calculation methods in identifying turbulence events.Moreover,comparisons with alternative machine learning techniques indicate that the proposed technique is the optimal methodology currently available.In summary,the use of symbolic classification via genetic programming enables accurate turbulence detection from QAR data,comparable to that with established EDR approaches and surpassing that achieved with machine learning algorithms.This finding highlights the potential of integrating symbolic classifiers into turbulence monitoring systems to enhance civil aviation safety amidst rising environmental and operational hazards.展开更多

This study investigated the defect microstructure by SEM, simulated pickling in the laboratory, and performed structure analysis of oxide scales after hot rolling. Results show that the cloud-shaped defects in 304 No. 1 surface （after hot-rolled annealing and pickling） cause the pickling chromatic aberration between the honeycomb-shaped grains of the Cr-depleted layer and the smooth grains of the stainless steel matrix, which is formed in the case of insufficient pickling. The chromatic aberration is related to the uneven oxide scales formed before pickling. With the improvement of pickling capacity, it is possible to completely pickle the Cr-depleted layer and eliminate the cloud-shaped defects.展开更多

文摘This paper offers a comprehensive analysis of the costume culture in the translation of Chu Ci,an influential work of Chinese literature.It examines the unique features of Chu Ci’s costume culture,including its historical and cultural significance,as well as the role of literary imagery in expressing cultural symbolism.The paper also delves into the challenges faced by translators in translating Chu Ci’s highly symbolic costumes and delivering their cultural connotations.The analysis provides insights into the issues of polysemy and translation choices,which are significant obstacles that require careful consideration of contextual usage to achieve meaningful translations.Furthermore,the paper highlights the importance of humanistic implications in interpreting Chu Ci’s costume culture,with the aim of promoting the appreciation and understanding of traditional Chinese culture worldwide.

文摘To achieve a low-complexity nonlinearity compensation(NLC)in high-symbol-rate(HSR)systems,we propose a modified weighted digital backpropagation(M-W-DBP)by jointly shifting the calculated position of nonlinear phase noise and considering the correlation of neighboring symbols in the NLC section of DBP.Based on this model,with the aid of neural network optimization,a learned version of M-W-DBP(M-W-LDBP)is also proposed and explored.Furthermore,enough technical details are revealed for the first time,including the principle of our proposed M-W-DBP and M-W-LDBP,the training process,and the complexity analysis of different DBPclass NLC algorithms.Evaluated numerically with QPSK,16QAM,and PS-64QAM modulation formats,1-step-per-span(1-StPS)M-W-DBP/LDBP achieves up to 1.29/1.49 dB and 0.63/0.74 dB signal-to-noise ratio improvement compared to chromatic dispersion compensation(CDC)in 90-GBaud and 128-GBaud 1000-km single-channel transmission systems,respectively.Moreover,1-StPS M-W-DBP/LDBP provides a more powerful NLC ability than 2-StPS LDBP but only needs about 60%of the complexity.The effectiveness of the proposed M-W-DBP and M-W-LDBP in the presence of laser phase noise is also verified and the necessity of using the learned version of M-WDBP is also discussed.This work is a comprehensive study of M-W-DBP/LDBP and other DBP-class NLC algorithms in HSR systems.
文摘Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus continues to serve as an iconographic enigma and remains an enduring subject of scholarly analysis concerning the significance of mythological art and its symbolism during the Italian Renaissance.Therefore,it is particularly noteworthy to examine further the symbolic elements embedded within the imagery.This essay focuses on a specific component in the landscape of The Birth of Venus-the marsh plant on the riverbank,commonly known as cattail in English,tifa or stiancia in Italian,and Typha latifolia in Latin.Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus,executed between 1485 and 1490,is a tempera on canvas with gesso and gold applications.It was commissioned with specific aesthetic,cultural,and intellectual objectives and was intended to be displayed in a private chamber for personal viewing by members of the Medici family.Situated initially within the Medicean Villa at Castello,it has been exhibited at the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence since 1815.This mythological painting exemplifies the Italian Renaissance principles of both physical and metaphysical humanism,visualized in a fusion of pagan and Christian iconography and iconology,incorporating symbolism that engages with antiquity and classical mythology.It also incorporates Italian Renaissance Neoplatonic philosophy,reflects Renaissance love poetry,demonstrates inventive patronage,and embodies spirituality directed towards a higher purpose.
文摘The color cluster red,black and white occurs in the artistic,ritual and magical activities of virtually all cultures around the world,suggesting their preeminence in human symbolic thought.Among the various explanations that have been brought forth to account for the special status of these three colors are:1)evolutionary/ecological arguments,drawing support from vision science,perceptual philosophy and primate biology;2)cognitive arguments,which pay attention to how human beings categorize and create meaning out of perceptual experiences;3)linguistic arguments,as these are the earliest lexicalized color words in most languages;4)and diverse socio-cultural arguments.This paper will explore the manifestation of red,black and white–both in concrete terms,through the use and manipulation of materials,as well as abstract ideas–in Assyrian and Babylonian magical and ritual activities.It will highlight how meaning is created and communicated by relating colors to natural and supernatural phenomena and will further attempt to provide a methodological framework for the analysis of color symbolism.
文摘This paper argues that the dialogues of Emily Grierson in William Faulkner’s “A Rose for Emily” systematically and profoundly violate H.P. Grice’s Cooperative Principle and its component maxims: Quantity, Quality, Relation, and Manner, which is not merely a manifestation of her personal eccentricity but also a powerful linguistic act of resistance. Through her non-cooperative speeches, Emily asserts her autonomy, defies the probing and judgmental gaze of her community, and maintains the integrity of her isolated world. Ultimately, she symbolizes the Old South’s desperate, tragic, and often grotesque struggle against the inevitable forces of change and modernization.

文摘As the risks associated with air turbulence are intensified by climate change and the growth of the aviation industry,it has become imperative to monitor and mitigate these threats to ensure civil aviation safety.The eddy dissipation rate(EDR)has been established as the standard metric for quantifying turbulence in civil aviation.This study aims to explore a universally applicable symbolic classification approach based on genetic programming to detect turbulence anomalies using quick access recorder(QAR)data.The detection of atmospheric turbulence is approached as an anomaly detection problem.Comparative evaluations demonstrate that this approach performs on par with direct EDR calculation methods in identifying turbulence events.Moreover,comparisons with alternative machine learning techniques indicate that the proposed technique is the optimal methodology currently available.In summary,the use of symbolic classification via genetic programming enables accurate turbulence detection from QAR data,comparable to that with established EDR approaches and surpassing that achieved with machine learning algorithms.This finding highlights the potential of integrating symbolic classifiers into turbulence monitoring systems to enhance civil aviation safety amidst rising environmental and operational hazards.
文摘It is highly imperative to understand the mechanism underlying the formation of cloud-shaped defects in stainless steel to reduce the defect incidences. This study investigated the defect microstructure by SEM, simulated pickling in the laboratory, and performed structure analysis of oxide scales after hot rolling. Results show that the cloud-shaped defects in 304 No. 1 surface （after hot-rolled annealing and pickling） cause the pickling chromatic aberration between the honeycomb-shaped grains of the Cr-depleted layer and the smooth grains of the stainless steel matrix, which is formed in the case of insufficient pickling. The chromatic aberration is related to the uneven oxide scales formed before pickling. With the improvement of pickling capacity, it is possible to completely pickle the Cr-depleted layer and eliminate the cloud-shaped defects.

文摘Dear Editor,This letter concerns the development of approximately bi-similar symbolic models for a discrete-time interconnected switched system(DT-ISS).The DT-ISS under consideration is formed by connecting multiple switched systems known as component switched systems(CSSs).Although the problem of constructing approximately bi-similar symbolic models for DT-ISS has been addressed in some literature,the previous works have relied on the assumption that all the subsystems of CSSs are incrementally input-state stable.
文摘Cultural symbols,a manifestation of cities’cultural resources,are not only signs that frame concepts but also forms that express meanings.Exploring the international communication of cities from the perspective of symbols,this paper analyzes in depth how cities create their cultural symbols in the dynamic process of international communication in an era of symbol-based digital media,and how they develop their narratives and explain meanings through the dissemination of symbols when telling their stories to international audiences,thus enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of their international communication efforts.
