In the cloud data centers,how to map virtual machines(VMs) on physical machines(PMs) to reduce the energy consumption is becoming one of the major issues,and the existing VM scheduling schemes are mostly to reduce ene...In the cloud data centers,how to map virtual machines(VMs) on physical machines(PMs) to reduce the energy consumption is becoming one of the major issues,and the existing VM scheduling schemes are mostly to reduce energy consumption by optimizing the utilization of physical servers or network elements.However,the aggressive consolidation of these resources may lead to network performance degradation.In view of this,this paper proposes a two-stage VM scheduling scheme:(1) We propose a static VM placement scheme to minimize the number of activating PMs and network elements to reduce the energy consumption;(2) In the premise of minimizing the migration costs,we propose a dynamic VM migration scheme to minimize the maximum link utilization to improve the network performance.This scheme makes a tradeoff between energy efficiency and network performance.We design a new twostage heuristic algorithm for a solution,and the simulations show that our solution achieves good results.展开更多

This paper focuses on the overall architecture of cloud platform as well as the design of virtualization security architecture. Meantime, it introduces the key technologies of VXLAN in detail. The scheme realizes flexible scheduling of security resources through virtual pooling of independent security gateway and virtual machine isolation through VXLAN technology. Moreover, it guides all horizontal traffic to independent security gateway for processing, unified management of security gateway through cloud platform by using Huawei NSH business chain technology. This scheme effectively solves the horizontal transmission of security threat among virtual machines, and realizes the fine security control and protection for the campus data center.展开更多

However, user’s requests are varied according to different applications...Cloud computing technology facilitates computing-intensive applications by providing virtualized resources which can be dynamically provisioned. However, user’s requests are varied according to different applications’ computation ability needs. These applications can be presented as meta-job of user’s demand. The total processing time of these jobs may need data transmission time over the Internet as well as the completed time of jobs to execute on the virtual machine must be taken into account. In this paper, we presented V-heuristics scheduling algorithm for allocation of virtualized network and computing resources under user’s constraint which applied into a service-oriented resource broker for jobs scheduling. This scheduling algorithm takes into account both data transmission time and computation time that related to virtualized network and virtual machine. The simulation results are compared with three different types of heuristic algorithms under conventional network or virtual network conditions such as MCT, Min-Min and Max-Min. e evaluate these algorithms within a simulated cloud environment via an abilenenetwork topology which is real physical core network topology. These experimental results show that V-heuristic scheduling algorithm achieved significant performance gain for a variety of applications in terms of load balance, Makespan, average resource utilization and total processing time.展开更多

With the rapid development of cloud-based tools and techniques...IT infrastructures have been widely deployed in datacentres by cloud service providers for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) with Virtual Machines (VMs). With the rapid development of cloud-based tools and techniques, IaaS is changing the current cloud infrastructure to meet the customer demand. In this paper, an efficient management model is presented and evaluated using our unique Trans-Atlantic high-speed optical fibre network connecting three datacentres located in Coleraine (Northern Ireland), Dublin (Ireland) and Halifax (Canada). Our work highlights the design and implementation of a management system that can dynamically create VMs upon request, process live migration and other services over the high-speed inter-networking Datacentres (DCs). The goal is to provide an efficient and intelligent on-demand management system for virtualization that can make decisions about the migration of VMs and get better utilisation of the network.展开更多
With the wide application of virtualization technology in cloud data centers, how to effectively place virtual machine (VM) is becoming a major issue for cloud providers. The existing virtual machine placement (VMP...With the wide application of virtualization technology in cloud data centers, how to effectively place virtual machine (VM) is becoming a major issue for cloud providers. The existing virtual machine placement (VMP) solutions are mainly to optimize server resources. However, they pay little consideration on network resources optimization, and they do not concern the impact of the network topology and the current network traffic. A multi-resource constraints VMP scheme is proposed. Firstly, the authors attempt to reduce the total communication traffic in the data center network, which is abstracted as a quadratic assignment problem; and then aim at optimizing network maximum link utilization (MLU). On the condition of slight variation of the total traffic, minimizing MLU can balance network traffic distribution and reduce network congestion hotspots, a classic combinatorial optimization problem as well as NP-hard problem. Ant colony optimization and 2-opt local search are combined to solve the problem. Simulation shows that MLU is decreased by 20%, and the number of hot links is decreased by 37%.展开更多
