A CFD based numerical simulation of flow velocity of hydrocyclone was conducted with different structural and operational parameters to investigate its distribution characteristics and influencing mechanism. The results show there exist several unsymmetrical envelopes of equal vertical velocities in both upward inner flows and downward outer flows in the hydrocyclone, and the cone angle and apex diameter have remarkable influence on the vertical location of the cone bottom of the envelope of zero vertical velocity. It is also found that the tangential velocity isolines exist in the horizontal planes located in the effective separation region of hydrocyclone. The increase of feed pressure has almost no effect on the distribution characteristics of both vertical velocity and tangential velocity in hydrocyclone, but the magnitude and gradient of tangential velocity are increased obviously to make the motion velocity of high density particles to the wall increased and to make the cyclonic separation effect improved. 展开更多

Based on the solution of the governing differential equation for deformation of throttle slice while satisfying required boundary conditions, the coefficient (Gr) and an analytical formula for computing the deformation of throttle slice is presented through equivalency transformation, which is a concise, accurate and practical method for throttle slice design and characteristic analysis. Researched the deformation at any radius, compared with ANSYS FEA software by the simulation analysis, the availability opening size of throttle that was defined by the deformation at the valve mouth radius is studied. The affection of valve mouth radius to the damper characteristic is analyzed. Tests are made for the damper characteristic, compared with simulation results, it is shown that Gr method is an accurate computation method for computing the deformation of throttle slice at valve mouth radius, suitihle to use in the damper design, analysis, and verification. The deformation at mouth radius could not be replaced with the outside radius. 展开更多

There are many reports about the research on near-fault velocity pulses, which focus on the generation of velocity pulse and simplify the velocity pulse so as to be used in the seismic design of structure, However few researches have put emphasis on the characteristics of near-fault ground motions containing velocity pulses, especially the characteristics relevant with the design response spectrum prescribed by the code. Through collection of a large number of near-fault records containing velocity pulses, the response spectra and the characteristic periods of records containing no pulses are compared with those of records containing pulses. Response spectra of near-fault records are compared with standard spectra given by code; furthermore, the response spectra and the characteristic periods of each earthquake are compared with that given by code. The result shows that at long periods (longer than 1.5 s), the response spectrum of pulse-containing records is bigger than the response spectrum of no-pulse-containing records; when the characteristic period of near-fault records is calculated, the method that does not fix frequency is more reasonable because the T1 and T2 have a lagging tendency; regardless of the site Ⅰ and site Ⅱ, the characteristic period of pulse-containing records is over twice bigger than the characteristic period given by the code, 展开更多

In this regard, a comprehensive evaluation on the energy consumption in case of a pulsed flow for three different chemical systems is conducted and besides the influence of pulsation intensity, the effect of geometrical parameters including the plate spacing and the plate free area is investigated as well. Moreover, the concept of characteristic velocity models at flooding points is evaluated with respect to the variation of pressure drop along the column at different operational conditions. 展开更多

Three-dimensional velocity structure and tectonic characteristics of earthquake area in Yibin 被引量:1

In this study,on the basis of absolute first-arrival times of 84756 P-and S-waves from 6085 earthquakes recorded at 56 fixed stations in Yibin and surrounding areas in China from January 2009 to January 2019,focal parameters and three-dimensional(3 D)body-wave high-resolution velocity structures at depths of 0–30 km were retrieved by double-difference tomography.Results show that there is a good correspondence between the spatial distribution of the relocated earthquakes and velocity structures,which were concentrated mainly in the high-velocity-anomaly region or edge of high-velocity region.Velocity structure of P-and S-waves in the Yibin area clearly shows lateral inhomogeneity.The distribution characteristics of the P-and S-waves near the surface are closely related to the geomorphology and geologic structure.The low-velocity anomaly appears at the depth of 15–25 km,which is affected by the lower crust current.The Junlian–Gongxian and Gongxian–Changning earthquake areas,which are the two most earthquake-prone areas in the Yibin region,clearly differ in earthquake distribution and tectonic characteristics.We analyzed the structural characteristics of the Junlian–Gongxian and Gongxian–Changning earthquake areas on the basis of the 3 D bodywave velocity structures in the Yibin region.We found that although most seismicity in the Yibin area is caused by fluid injection,the spatial position of seismicity is controlled by the velocity structures of the middle and upper crust and local geologic structure.Fine-scale 3 D velocity structures in the Yibin area provide important local reference information for further understanding the crustal medium,seismogenic structure,and seismicity. 展开更多

This paper introduces horizon control, seismic control, logging control and facies control methods through the application of the least squares fitting of logging curves, seismic inversion and facies-controlled techniques. Based on the microgeology and thin section analyses, the lithology, lithofacies and periods of the Permian igneous rocks are described in detail. The seismic inversion and facies-controlled techniques were used to find the distribution characteristics of the igneous rocks and the 3D velocity volume. The least squares fitting of the logging curves overcome the problem that the work area is short of density logging data. Through analysis of thin sections, the lithofacies can be classified into eruption airfall subfacies, eruption pyroclastic flow subfacies and eruption facies. 展开更多

In this paper,using natural earthquake P-wave arrival time data recorded by the seismic network in the surrounding area of Madoi,the three-dimensional fine P-wave crustal velocity structure at depths above 60 km in the epicenter of the Madoi Ms7.4 earthquake was inverted using the double-difference seismic tomography method.On the basis of the relocation of the source of the aftershock sequence,we summarized the strip-shaped distribution characteristics along the strike of the Jiangcuo fault,revealing the significant heterogeneity of the crustal velocity structure in the source area.Research has found that most of the Madoi Ms7.4 aftershocks were located in the weak area of the high-speed anomaly in the upper crust.The focal depth changed with the velocity structure,showing obvious fluctuation and segmentation characteristics.There was a good correspondence between the spatial distribution and the velocity structure.The high-velocity bodies of the upper crust in the hypocenter area provided a medium environment for earthquake rupture,the low-velocity bodies of the middle crust formed the deep material,and the migration channel and the undulating shape of the high-speed body in the lower crust corroborated the strong pushing action in the region.The results confirmed that under the continuous promotion of tectonic stress in the Madoi area,the high-speed body of the Jiangcuo fault blocked the migration of weak materials in the middle crust.When the stress accumulation exceeded the limit,the Madoi Ms7.4 earthquake occurred.Meanwhile,the nonuniform velocity structure near the fault plane determined the location of the main shock and the spatiotemporal distribution of the aftershock sequence. 展开更多

Particle image velocimetry and numerical simulation results of juncture flows were analyzed to parametrically investigate topology transition. The vortex system evolutions from non-vortex to multi-vortex with variations in obstacle bluntness, obstacle width, flow velocity, and boundary layer thickness are discussed from the perspective of velocity characteristic lines. The velocity characteristic lines of u = 0, υ = 0, and ∇^(2) υ = 0 are adopted to describe the vortex system evolution. The motions of the characteristic lines with juncture flow parameters are described in detail, and the corresponding reflections of the vortex system patterns are illustrated. A panoramic picture of the development of velocity characteristic lines corresponding to the HSV topology transition from a non-vortex to a multi-vortex system with variations in the juncture flow parameter is established. Two methods for determining the attachment/separation pattern of the most upstream singularity are proposed. One method is based on the number of intersections of the u = 0 and υ = 0 velocity characteristic curve lines, and the other is based on the relative positions of the most upstream feet of the u = 0 and υ = 0 loop curves with both feet attached to the wall. 展开更多

Hydraulic sandblasting perforation plays a crucial role in the fracturing and reconstruction of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs.The jet nozzle is an essential part of the hydraulic perforation tool.Insufficient penetration depth,caused by excessive jet distances,presents challenges during the perforation process.To overcome this,an optimization design of the nozzle structure is required to enhance the perforation efficiency.In this paper,a computational fluid-dynamic model for conical-cylindrical nozzles has been elaborated.To further improve the rock-breaking efficiency of the jet nozzle,a fillet design is introduced at the nozzle inlet section.The SST k-ωmodel is employed to account for turbulent flow effects in submerged conditions.The results indicate that the nozzle’s geometric parameters greatly influence the flow characteristics.The orthogonal experimental method is employed to optimize the flow channel structure of the nozzle,taking the length of constant velocity core as the evaluation index.The following optimized geometric parameters for the conical-cylindrical nozzle have been determined accordingly:a cylindrical segment diameter of 3.2 mm,a contraction angle of 12°,a contraction segment length of 8 mm,a cylindrical segment length of 6.4 mm,and a fillet radius of 2 mm. 展开更多

Whipple shields as sacrificial bumpers,safeguard the satellites against extremely fast,different-sized projectiles traveling through space in the low earth orbit.Typical Whipple shields comprise a front and rear plate,separated by a gap or space.Recent advancements have explored the use of foam,cellular cores,and alternative materials such as ceramics instead of aluminium for the plates.In the current work,the effect of including fluid cores(air/water)sandwiched between the front and rear plates,on the response to hypervelocity impact was explored through a numerical approach.The numerical simulation consisted of hypervelocity impact by a 2 mm diameter,stainless steel projectile,launched at speeds of 3 e9 km/s with a normal impact trajectory towards the Whipple shield.The front and rear bumpers,made of AA6061-T6,were each 1 mm thick.A space of 10 mm was taken between the plates(occupied by fluid).The key metrics analyzed were the perforation characteristics,stages of the debris cloud generation and propagation,energy variations(internal,kinetic and plastic work),temperature variations,and the fragmentation summary.From the computational analysis,employing water-core in Whipple shields could prevent the rear bumper perforation till 6 km/s,lower the peak temperatures at the front bumper perforation zones and debris tip,and generate fewer,larger fragments. 展开更多

A semi-analytical model of the velocity profile for a conduit-multilayer matrix system

The flow field characteristics of the conduit-matrix system(CMS)have consistently been a primary area of interest to researchers.However,under the long-term influence of water flow,the hydraulic conductivity of the matrix surrounding the conduit often deforms differentially along the conduit axis,resulting in the development of a conduit-multilayer matrix system(CMMS).This renders conventional models inadequate in accurately describing the flow field characteristics of CMMS.In this study,a semi-analytical model with second-order accuracy is developed to investigate the velocity profile characteristics of CMMS by coupling the Navier-Stokes(N–S)equations in the conduit and the Darcy-Brinkman(D-B)equation in the multilayer matrices.In this model,the interface between the conduit and the matrix satisfies the velocity continuity and stress jumping condition.In contrast,different matrix interfaces require both velocity and stress to be equal.The model's validity is verified through Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM)simulation,COMSOL simulation,and experimental data under different conduit apertures,matrix region numbers,and matrix permeability characteristics.Moreover,the current model predicts discharges with higher accuracy than the Hagen-Poiseuille law and Darcy's law(the maximum error between the present model and the test is 7.24%).Furthermore,the existing Poiseuille's law,conduit-matrix model,and conduit-matrix1-matrix2 model are all special cases of the current semi-analytical model,thereby indicating its broader applicability.Sensitivity results reveal that the flow velocities in the surrounding matrix and the conduit regions also increase when the permeability of the matrix in proximity to the conduit increases.Additionally,as the stress jumping coefficient at the interface approaches zero,the transition from free flow to seepage becomes smoother. 展开更多

To ensure the safety of power energy transmission channel and mitigate the harm caused by galloping of iced transmission lines,the axial time-delay velocity feedback strategy is adopted to suppress the galloping.The par-tial differential equation of galloping with axial time-delay velocity feedback strategy is established based on the variational principle for Hamiltonian.Then,the partial differential equation of galloping is transformed into or-dinary differential equation based on normalization and the Galerkin method.The primary amplitude-frequency response equation,the first-order steady-state approximate solution,and the harmonic amplitude-frequency re-sponse equation are derived by the multiscale method.The impact of different parameters such as time-delay value,control coefficient,and amplitude of external excitation on the galloping response are analyzed.The am-plitude under the primary resonance exhibits periodicity as time-delay value varies.The amplitude diminishes with increased control coefficient and increases with external excitation.Comprehensive consideration of vari-ous influences of parameters on vibration characteristics is crucial when employing the axial time-delay velocity feedback strategy to suppress galloping.Therefore,to achieve the best vibration suppression effect,it is crucial to adjust the time-delay parameter for modifying the range and amplitude of the resonance zone.The conclusions obtained by this study are expected to advance the refinement of active control techniques for iced transmission lines,and may provide valuable insights for practical engineering applications. 展开更多

Analysis of the distribution of sound velocity profiles and sound propagation laws based on a global high-resolution ocean reanalysis product

Ocean reanalysis data,compared to traditional observational data,possess stronger continuity and higher data accuracy.The globally high-resolution ice-ocean coupled reanalysis product China Ocean ReAnalysis,Version 2.0(CORA v2.0),independently developed by the National Marine Information Center,has attracted considerable attention since its release in 2020.This study selected six representative points of sound velocity profiles in different global ocean regions and conducted comparative analysis between the 2014 momentary data from CORA v2.0 and Argo data.Additionally,the monthly average data of CORA v2.0 in 2013 were compared and studied against General Digital Environmental Model(GDEM)and World Ocean Atlas(WOA)data.Metrics such as Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and Mean Error(ME)were introduced to evaluate the differences between datasets.The result reveals that,in a comparison of single moment data,the sound velocity profiles of CORA v2.0 data and Argo data exhibit high consistency,with ME generally within 2 m/s.Regarding a comparison of monthly average data,the consistency between CORA v2.0 data and WOA data is higher,while the error relative to GDEM data is relatively larger,but their RMSE and ME exhibit high similarity in temporal trends.Based on the 2014 data of CORA v2.0,the temporal and spatial evolutionary laws of global seawater sound velocity profiles and sound speed fields were analyzed.On the time scale,the variation of seawater sound speed is mainly influenced by seasons,with significant differences between winter and summer seasons.On the daily scale,there are certain differences in sound velocity profiles mainly in the early morning and afternoon.On the spatial scale,analysis was conducted from both horizontal and vertical perspectives.The distribution of sound speed exhibits evident regularity with latitude,with shallow seawater sound speed being greatly influenced by external factors while deep seawater is relatively stable.Using the Range-dependent Acoustic Model for Geoacoustics(RAMgeo)model to solve the underwater acoustic field at three specific points,the characteristic changes of sound velocity profiles at different times of the day and their impact on under water sound propagation losses were obtained.This paper provides valuable information for the application of CORA v2.0 data products. 展开更多

To determine and calculate the stable fluidization zone in a magnetically fluidized bed, the fluidization characteristics of magnetic particles are investigated. Four kinds of magnetic particles with different average diameters, ranging from 231 to 512 μm, are fluidized in the presence of magnetic fields with specified values of the intensity in the range of zero to 7330 A/m, and the particle fluidization curves are plotted. For marking the stable fluidization zone in the curves, the minimum bubbling velocities of particles are measured by the pressure-drop fluctuation. Based on the fluidization curves, the influences of the average particle diameter and magnetic field intensity on the zone are analyzed and discussed. A correlation to determine the stable fluidization zone is derived from the experimental data, using three dimensionless numbers, i. e., the ratio of magnetic potential to gravity potential, the Reynolds number and the Archimedes number. Compared with available data reported, it is shown that the correlation is more simplified to predict relative parameters for the bed operating in the state of stable fluidization under reasonable conditions. 展开更多

Methods\ A set of PIV (particle image velocimetry) system was developed and used to observe and analyze the spray particle velocity field. Results and Conclusion\ Double exposure image of the spray particle within the region of 10-50 mm from the nozzle tip was recorded and analyzed by the IBAS2000 analysis system. The characteristics of the flowfields of a synthetic jet actuator are experimentally investigated with the slot-nozzle driven by the piezoelectric membrane. The particle image velocimetry (PIV) and the hot-wire anemometer are utilized to measure the flowfields and the velocity profiles of the actuator with different actuating factors. Analytical results show that pairs of counter-rotating vortices are generated near the nozzle. With the development of the synthetic ject, the synthetic jet rapidly spreads in the slot-width direction; while in the slot-length direction, it contracts firstly and slowly spreads. The centerline velocity distribution has a up-down tendency varying with axial distances, and accelerates to its maximum at z/b= 10. The transverse velocity profile across the slot-width is centro-symmetric and self-similar. However, the velocity profiles across the slot-length are saddle-like near the nozzle. It shows that there are two resonance frequencies for the actuator. If the actuator works with the resonance frequency, the vorticity and the velocity of the synthetic jet are higher than those of other frequencies. Compared with the continuous jet, the synthetic jet shows special flow characteristics. 展开更多

Frothing is a main disease of highways in Yellow River Flood Field, due to the loss of dynamic strength of roadbed soils under the couple effects of temperature, salt, and vehicle traffic load. This is strongly linked to the dynamic characteristics of silt in this region. To analyze these couple effects on the dynamic characteristics of silt, a series of tests(i.e., freeze-thaw cycling tests, vibration triaxial tests and ultrasonic wave velocity tests) were conducted and two kinds of silt(i.e., salt-free and 3%-salt silt) were designed. The results indicate that the dynamic shear strength and dynamic modulus decrease with increasing freeze-thaw cycles, while the damping ratio simultaneously increases. Furthermore, compared to salt-free silt, the decrement of dynamic shear strength and dynamic modulus of silt with 3% salt is more significant, but the damping ratio of 3%-salt silt is larger. In ultrasonic wave velocity tests, ultrasonic wave velocity of frozen soil specimens decreases as the number of freeze-thaw cycles increases. Based on the results of ultrasonic wave velocity tests, a preliminary model is proposed to evaluate damage of silt through field measurement ultrasonic data. The study could provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of silty soil highway. 展开更多

The rock fracture characteristics and principal stress directions are crucial for prevention of geological disasters.In this study,we carried out biaxial compression tests on cubic granite samples of 100 mm in side length with different intermediate principal stress gradients in combination with acoustic emission(AE)technique.Results show that the fracture characteristics of granite samples change from‘sudden and aggregated’to‘continuous and dispersed’with the increase of the intermediate principal stress.The effect of increasing intermediate principal stress on AE amplitude is not significant,but it increases the proportions of high-frequency AE signals and shear cracks,which in turn increases the possibility of unstable rock failure.The difference of stress in different directions causes the anisotropy of rock fracture and thus leads to the obvious anisotropic characteristics of wave velocity variations.The anisotropy of wave velocity variations with stress difference is probable to identify the principal stress directions.The AE characteristics and the anisotropy of wave velocity variations of granite under two-dimensional stress are not only beneficial complements for rock fracture characteristic and principal stress direction identification,but also can provide a new analysis method for stability monitoring in practical rock engineering. 展开更多

The degradation kinetics of strains P05 and P07 and the degradation effects of mixed strain on Microcystis aeruginosa were studied. The results showed that: (1) The degradation processes of strains P05 and P07 on Microcystis aeruginosa accorded with the first-order reaction model when the range of Chl-a concentration was from 0 to 1500 μg/L. (2) The initial bacterium densities had a strong influence on the degradation velocity. The greater the initial bacterium density was, the faster the degradation was. The degradation velocity constants of P05 were 0.1913, 0.2175 and 0.3092 respectively, when bacterium densities were 4.8×10 5, 4.8×10 6, 2.4×10 7 cells/ml. For strain P07, they were 0.1509, 0.1647 and 0.2708. The degradation velocity constant of strain P05 was higher than that of P07 when the bacterium density was under 4.8×10 5 cells/ml, but the constant increasing of P07 was quicker than that of P05. (3) The degradation effects of P05 and P07 strains did not antagonize. When the concentration of Chl-a was high, the degradation effects of mixed strain excelled that of any single strains. But with the decrease of the Chl-a concentration, this advantage was not clear. When the concentration was less than 180 μg/L, the degradation effects of mixed were consistent with that of strain P07. 展开更多
