Doppler centroid frequency is an essential parameter in the imaging processing of the Scanning mode Synthetic Aperture Radar (ScanSAR). Inaccurate Doppler centroid frequency will result in ghost images in imaging result. In this letter, the principle and algorithms of Doppler centroid frequency estimation are introduced. Then the echo data of ScanSAR system is analyzed. Based on the algorithms of energy balancing and correlation Doppler estimator in the estimation of Doppler centroid frequency in strip mode SAR, an improved method for Doppler centroid frequency estimation in ScanSAR is proposed. The method has improved the accuracy of Doppler centroid frequency estimation in ScanSAR by zero padding between burst data. Finally, the proposed method is validated with the processing of ENVIronment SATellite Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ENVISAT ASAR) wide swath raw data. 展开更多

The Q-factor is an important physical parameter for characterizing the absorption and attenuation of seismic waves propagating in underground media, which is of great signifi cance for improving the resolution of seismic data, oil and gas detection, and reservoir description. In this paper, the local centroid frequency is defi ned using shaping regularization and used to estimate the Q values of the formation. We propose a continuous time-varying Q-estimation method in the time-frequency domain according to the local centroid frequency, namely, the local centroid frequency shift(LCFS)method. This method can reasonably reduce the calculation error caused by the low accuracy of the time picking of the target formation in the traditional methods. The theoretical and real seismic data processing results show that the time-varying Q values can be accurately estimated using the LCFS method.Compared with the traditional Q-estimation methods, this method does not need to extract the top and bottom interfaces of the target formation;it can also obtain relatively reasonable Q values when there is no eff ective frequency spectrum information.Simultaneously,a reasonable inverse Q fi ltering result can be obtained using the continuous time-varying Q values. 展开更多

The optimal imaging time selection of ship targets for shore-based inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) in high sea conditions is investigated. The optimal imaging time includes opti- mal imaging instants and optimal imaging duration. A novel method for optimal imaging instants selection based on the estimation of the Doppler centroid frequencies (DCFs) of a series of images obtained over continuous short durations is proposed. Combined with the optimal imaging duration selection scheme using the image contrast maximization criteria, this method can provide the ship images with the highest focus. Simulated and real data pro- cessing results verify the effectiveness of the proposed imaging method. 展开更多

The goals of this study were to examine factors influencing Q inversion and to provide references for practical application.Three different methods for inverting Q values with VSP data were explored, including centroid frequency shift(CFS),spectral ratio(SR),and amplitude attenuation(AA).Comparison between the CFS and the other two methods was conducted on frequency band widths and low attenuation, wavefield components, interface interference, and thin layers. Results from several sets of VSP modeling data indicated that the CFS method is more stable and accurate for dealing with thin and high Q layers.Frequency band width, especially the presence of high frequencies, influences the inversion effect of all three methods. The wider the band, the better the results.Q inversion from downgoing wavefield was very similar to that of the upgoing wavefield. The CFS method had fewer outliers or skip values from the full wavefield than the other two methods. Moreover, the applications to Q inversion for the set of field VSP data demonstrated that the Q curves from the CFS method coincided with the geological interpretations better than the Q curves of the other methods.Meanwhile, inverse Q filtering shifted the frequency component from 25 Hz to 35 Hz.The results demonstrated that the Q curve is more sensitive to geological horizons than velocity. 展开更多
