Based on the Theory of Reasoned Action,this paper explores the influencing factors and countermeasures of teacher career development in private undergraduate institutions through questionnaire surveys.The study finds that teachers generally experience heavy workloads and time pressures,but most believe that the academic atmosphere and research activities at the school have a positive impact on their career development.The evaluation mechanisms and promotion channels are considered fair and effective,but there is still room for improvement.Teachers hold a positive attitude towards career development opportunities and promotion channels,but they perceive limited development space and promotion opportunities.Teachers’personal comprehensive qualities and abilities,as well as the development opportunities and support provided by the school,are considered key factors for career development.Disciplinary professional background,academic accumulation,research capabilities,and teacher collaboration and exchange have significant impacts on career development.Based on the findings,the following strategies are proposed:1)optimizing the work environment and reducing work pressure;2)fostering a positive academic atmosphere;3)improving evaluation mechanisms and promotion channels;4)providing continuous professional training and development support;and 5)strengthening the construction of disciplinary professional background and research capabilities. 展开更多

Although much research has been conducted on the interactions between the career development of foreign language teachers and their contexts around the world,a literature review reveals that there exists scanty research on the relationship between university Russian language teachers’career development and their contexts in China since 1949.Based on relevant studies on the career development of foreign language teachers and the ecological theory,this paper involves research on the impact that different ecological systems(micro-,meso-,macro-and exo-ones)have played in the career development of Russian language teachers in China.Participants are 10 Chinese Russian teachers of different ages from different universities in different parts of China.Via literature review,narration methods and semi-structured(in-depth)interviews with the help of NVivo,this research finds that Russian language teachers’career development results from multi-faceted interactions of the following contexts:ideology,Russian language educational policies and personal factors as well as college contexts.This paper concludes with some suggestions for improving Russian language teachers’career development in China. 展开更多

The state puts the employment of college students at the top of all employment groups. It explicitly requires "creating employment opportunities for young people, paying special attention to college graduates" and encourages "youth entrepreneurship", "fuller employment" and "better employment". At present, college students' career development has become an important task to improve living conditions, stabilize society and realize economic modernization. As an important part of serving and promoting students' employment, students' professional development and the establishment of a professional guidance discipline system are not only helpful to improve students' comprehensive quality and professional skills, but also play an important role in the information exchange between social development needs and students' development. The establishment of the subject system of students' career development and career guidance is not a simple course setup. It can be said to be an arduous task to integrate students' expectations, university talent development goals, social needs and national development prospects. Based on the employment service system for college students, this paper, from the perspective of the university itself and from the university's responsibility for the construction of employment service for college students, summarizes the current situation and existing problems, which are related to the students' career development, the operation of career guidance system and the construction of scientific system. With the development of information and communications technology,the sharing economy grows dramatically.For example,the transaction value in China’s sharing economy was about 42942 billion RMB in 2018,increased of 41.6%over the previous year.Critique of the sharing economy points that the presence of the sharing economy prevents its traditional counterpart from developing sustainably by creating unemployment in traditional industries related to the sharing economy.This paper is therefore to study the dual effect of the sharing economy on the restructuring the manufacturing industry and the development of career path.By constructing an economic model,we particularly investigate the change in the labor market structure due to the presence of the sharing economy and the welfare in such a case.We show that the presence of the sharing economy can bring two effects,i.e.,DIVERSIFICATION and INCLUSIVENESS,into the workplace,which enriches the job structure and allows more labor with relative low skills to join.Regardless of the labor skill,the rapid development of the sharing economy provides new paths for their career development.In addition,we demonstrate that the above two effects crucially rely on the characteristic of CORRECTNESS of the government’s policy.The results of the theoretical model explain the necessary of promoting moderate sharing economy in terms of career development and can also be applied in the traditional manufacturing industry to explain the effect of the sharing economy on such industry. 展开更多

The goal of this study is to measure the effectiveness of a career development system implemented at a research and technology organization at satisfying the context requirements of a decree issued by the Basque Country government.Through in-depth surveying of 80 R&D professionals over the five years,the authors aimed to determine whether a career development system,when it is linked to context requirements and researchers’contributions,could offer researchers feedback about their career aims and increase their job satisfaction.During the five years of the study,the researchers’capacity to meet career requirements improved by 20%,and job satisfaction,although it declined at first,increased substantially in the last two years,reaching a historic high for the employee satisfaction survey. 展开更多

Despite the increasing enrolment in higher education in sub-Saharan Africa,the systematic understanding of students’academic major satisfaction in these contexts has not received significant research interest.We examined the academic major satisfaction of students in the Nigerian context by the sense of autonomy,competence,and relatedness.Participants were 452 students from Fine and Applied Arts(FAA,n=207,32.9%female,mean age=20.86,SD=3.40)and philosophy(n=245,42.9%female,mean age=21.43,SD=3.38 years)at a large Nigerian public university.They completed the Basic Needs Satisfaction Scale and the Academic Major Satisfaction Scale,as well as a socio-demographic questionnaire.Results following regression analysis and post-hoc t-tests indicated that while FAA students were more satisfied with their major than those in philosophy overall.Philosophy students reported significantly higher relatedness than the FAA students.FAA students did not rate autonomy and competence higher than Philosophy students.Within academic majors,high autonomy was associated with greater academic major satisfaction for only FAA students,whereas FAA and Philosophy students with high competence and relatedness reported increased academic major satisfaction.Findings suggest students self-determine their academic major satisfaction in the Nigerian educational setting by primarily autonomy and competence considerations. 展开更多
