Understanding the sliding dynamics is critical for developing rotaxane-based mechanically interlocked polymers.In this work,we studied the sliding behavior of a sliding ring and its influence on the dynamics of attached polymer chains based on the heterogeneous beadspring model.The sliding constraint was treated as direction-related confinement with the heterogeneous friction coefficient and constraint intensity.The relaxation spectrum,the diffusion dynamics,and the sliding dynamics under/after drag were studied for typical sliding chain topologies,namely,the sliding dangling chain,the constraint sliding chain,and the sliding strand.Compared with the non-sliding chains(such as the free chain,the dangling chain,and the network strand),the slide of one or two chain ends induces an additional slow process in the transition from the Rouse-type behavior to the long-time terminal behavior.The effect of the sliding-related process on the diffusion of specific chain segments relies on the chain topology.The slow sliding relaxation process is also observed in the sliding process during and after chain deformation,whose characteristic time is at least three times the terminal relaxation time of the free chain with the same length,and will increase with the friction coefficient(i.e.,the interaction)between the ring and the polymer axial.The results of this work will benefit the understanding of the sliding dynamics in experiments. 展开更多

Improving Model Chain Approaches for Probabilistic Solar Energy Forecasting through Post-processing and Machine Learning

Weather forecasts from numerical weather prediction models play a central role in solar energy forecasting,where a cascade of physics-based models is used in a model chain approach to convert forecasts of solar irradiance to solar power production.Ensemble simulations from such weather models aim to quantify uncertainty in the future development of the weather,and can be used to propagate this uncertainty through the model chain to generate probabilistic solar energy predictions.However,ensemble prediction systems are known to exhibit systematic errors,and thus require post-processing to obtain accurate and reliable probabilistic forecasts.The overarching aim of our study is to systematically evaluate different strategies to apply post-processing in model chain approaches with a specific focus on solar energy:not applying any post-processing at all;post-processing only the irradiance predictions before the conversion;post-processing only the solar power predictions obtained from the model chain;or applying post-processing in both steps.In a case study based on a benchmark dataset for the Jacumba solar plant in the U.S.,we develop statistical and machine learning methods for postprocessing ensemble predictions of global horizontal irradiance(GHI)and solar power generation.Further,we propose a neural-network-based model for direct solar power forecasting that bypasses the model chain.Our results indicate that postprocessing substantially improves the solar power generation forecasts,in particular when post-processing is applied to the power predictions.The machine learning methods for post-processing slightly outperform the statistical methods,and the direct forecasting approach performs comparably to the post-processing strategies. 展开更多

Many attempts have been made to identify barriers to blockchain adoption in supply chain;however,barriers to blockchain adoption in supply chain finance(SCF)are underexplored.This study prioritizes barriers to blockchain adoption in SCF and evaluates the barrier level of each alternative participant.We propose an integrated decision model to prioritize the barriers and evaluate their levels of alternative participants.To determine the barriers,we conducted a literature review.We then introduce an integrated weight calculation method by combining interval-valued Fermatean fuzzy(IVFF)-optimistic-pessimistic-utility values-based and IVFF-RS(ranking sum)methods to determine the barrier weights.To evaluate the barrier level of each alternative participant in SCF,the integrated IVFF-RAFSI(Ranking of Alternatives through Functional Mapping of Criterion Subintervals into a Single Interval)model is presented to rank the barrier,which uses a power-weighted aggregation operator to fuse experts’opinions.A case study demonstrates the practicality of the integrated IVFF-RAFSI model.The results show that uncertain and competitive markets(weighted at 0.0676)are the most significant barriers.This finding also suggests that small and medium-sized processing enterprises have the highest barriers to blockchain adoption.Sensitivity and comparative analyses validate the steadiness and competency of the proposed model.These results indicate that the proposed methodology provides a systematic technique for analyzing barriers to blockchain applications in SCF. 展开更多

The association between social support and decent work among rural primary school teachers:A chain mediation model

Amidst the unique challenges faced by rural educators is their sense of decent work influenced by levels of social support,career self-efficacy,and marginalization.To investigate these relationships,we surveyed 435 rural school teachers(females=69.32%,mean years teaching experience=13.6,SD=7.7 years).The Structural Equation Modeling results indicated that social support positively predicts teachers’perceptions of decent work.Career self-efficacy mediated the relationship between social support and a higher sense of decent work,while marginalization mediated the relationship such that lower social support predicted lower perceptions of decent work.Career self-efficacy and marginalization also had a sequential mediation relationship:higher social support enhanced career self-efficacy,which in turn reduced marginalization experiences,ultimately improving teachers’perceptions of decent work.These findings align with the predictions of Social Cognitive Career Theory and the Psychology of Working Theory,demonstrating that environmental supports enhance personal psychological resources,reduce marginalization risks,and promote positive work-related outcomes.The study findings highlight the necessity for education departments to improve rural teachers’perceptions of decent work by providing social support to foster positive work experiences for teachers at high risk for marginalization and diminished career self-efficacy. 展开更多

This geo-historical case study analyses Vistelius’ingenious idea of conceptual stochastic models and their application as Markov chain analysis in the geosciences.Vistelius(1915–1995)is regarded as one of the founders of mathematical geology.He was the fi rst to defi ne mathematical geology as“a scientifi c discipline concerned with the construction,analysis and use of conceptual mathematical models of geological events to solve concrete problems”(Vistelius in Principles of mathematical geology,Nauka,Leningrad,1980;Principles of mathematical geology,Kluwer Academic Publishers,Dordrecht,1992).Mathematical models in this context should be primarily probabilistic because of the large number of infl uencing natural factors.They must be conceptual to avoid fundamental errors in application.Vistelius devoted his seminal book to geological random sequences and their description and analysis using Markov models as stochastic tools.He applied this approach to grain sequences in granitic intrusive rocks and to sedimentary rock layers.Among other things,Vistelius has used Markov chain analysis in mineral resource exploration to distinguish between“ideal”granites,which are not subsequently mineralized,and mainly hydrothermally mineralized,sometimes ore-bearing granites which contain at least two generations of main minerals.The application of this special conceptual stochastic model is demonstrated on Lusatian granite(Saxony,Germany). 展开更多

Relationship between death anxiety and coping with death competence among Chinese oncology nurses: A chain mediation model

BACKGROUND Death anxiety(DA)is a prevalent psychological challenge among oncology nurses that affects their emotional well-being and professional competence in coping with death-related situations.Death-related attitudes and resilience are critical factors that may mediate the relationship between DA and coping with death competence(CDC).However,few studies have examined the chain-mediating effect of these factors among Chinese oncology nurses.This study aimed to investigate the association between DA and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses,with a focus on the mediating roles of death attitude and resilience.AIM To investigate the association between DA and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses.using an electronic questionnaire distributed in Wenjuanxing,China.In total,615 valid responses were obtained.The participants completed the Templer death anxiety scale,death attitude profile-revised,Connor-Davidson resilience scale,and coping with death scale.A chain mediation analysis was performed using the PROCESS macro in SPSS to examine the relationships between these variables.RESULTS The findings indicated that DA had a significant direct effect on CDC[effect=0.201,95%confidence interval(CI):0.112-0.322].In addition to this direct effect,three significant indirect pathways were observed:(1)Death attitude(effect=0.118,95%CI:0.056-0.163);(2)Resilience(effect=0.108,95%CI:0.032-0.176);and(3)A sequential mediation pathway involving both death attitude and resilience(effect=0.071,95%CI:0.042-0.123).The total indirect effects of the three mediation paths accounted for 29.7%of the relationship between DA and CDC.CONCLUSION Using a chain mediation model,this study explored the mechanisms linking DA,death attitude,resilience,and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses.These findings highlighted the crucial role of death attitude and resilience in mediating the relationship between DA and CDC.Interventions aimed at fostering adaptive attitudes toward death and enhancing resilience may improve nurses’ability to cope with death-related stressors,ultimately benefiting their psychological well-being and professional competence. 展开更多

The method extends the scope of optimisation and improves the accuracy at each iteration by incorporating adaptive parameter selection and a more general subgradient projection operator. The advantages of the proposed method are highlighted by the proof of strong convergence presented in the paper. Several concrete examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm, with comparisons illustrating its superior CPU running time compared to alternative techniques. The practical applicability of the algorithm is also demonstrated by applying it to a realistic supply chain network model. 展开更多

Objective To provide effective decision making for the subsidy policies given by the government to pharmaceutical enterprises and the coordination model adopted by pharmaceutical stakeholders under the carbon emission trading policy.Methods The Stackelberg model was used to discuss the optimal profits of each member and the whole supply chain under different decision-making models while considering the technical capacity of emission reduction and cost sharing contract.Based on this,the impact of the combined contract decisionmaking model on the technical efforts of drug manufacturers to reduce carbon emission,the profits of supply chain members and the overall profits of supply chain was investigated.Results and Conclusion Research has found that improving the research and development efforts of emission reduction technologies by pharmaceutical enterprises can increase drug sales and enhance the expected profits of pharmaceutical supply chain members.The members of the secondary pharmaceutical supply chain can achieve the optimal expected profit when reaching cooperation.Besides,when the cost sharing contract and quantity discount contract meet the constraint conditions,the combined contract decision model can perfectly coordinate the pharmaceutical supply chain,enabling supply chain members to achieve Pareto improvement and gradually reach Pareto optimum. 展开更多

LADRC method referring to the integral chain model:design of dual-loop disturbance compensation and engineering verification

To address the issue of disturbance compensation deviation in linear active disturbance rejection control(LADRC),a linear active disturbance rejection control method with reference to the integral chain model(LADRC-R)is proposed.By constructing an ideal control reference model,a dynamic correlation between output deviation and uncompensated disturbances is established,and a dual-loop compensation mechanism is designed.Based on theoretical analysis and frequency-domain characteristics of typical first/second-order systems,this method maintains the parameter-tuning advantages of LADRC while reducing disturbance effects by 50%and introducing no phase lag during low-frequency disturbance suppression.Simulations on second-order systems verify its robustness under parameter perturbations,gain mismatch,and complex disturbances,and an optimized design scheme for the deviation compensator is proposed to suppress discontinuous measurement noise interference.Finally,the engineering effectiveness of this method in precision motion control is validated on an electromagnetic suspension platform,providing a new approach to improving the control performance of LADRC in environments with uncertain disturbances. 展开更多

Applicability of Markov chain-based stochastic model for bubbling fluidized beds

A Markov chain-based stochastic model (MCM) is developed to simulate the movement of particles in a 2D bubbling fluidized bed (BFB). The state spaces are determined by the discretized physical cells of the bed, and the transition probability matrix is directly calculated by the results of a discrete element method (DEM) simulation. The Markov property of the BFB is discussed by the comparison results calculated from both static and dynamic transition probability matrices. The static matrix is calculated based on the Markov chain while the dynamic matrix is calculated based on the memory property of the particle movement. Results show that the difference in the trends of particle movement between the static and dynamic matrix calculation is very small. Besides, the particle mixing curves of the MCM and DEM have the same trend and similar numerical values, and the details show the time averaged characteristic of the MCM and also expose its shortcoming in describing the instantaneous particle dynamics in the BFB. 展开更多

The results showed that from the spatial perspective, pig supply chain had five models of operation, such as vertical integration pig sup- ply chain, quasi-vertical integration pig supply chain (tightly-knit pig supply chain), semi-tightly pig supply chain, loosely-organized pig supply chain and market-oriented pig supply chain. In contrast, from temporal aspect, pig supply chain experiences the pure market transaction, contract form, cooperatives, vertical integration and hori- zontal integration model of operation; the future pig supply chain model in China might be the longitudinal transverse group alliance pig supply chain, namely, the upper vertical integration or quasi-vertical integration (leading processing enterprise + farmer) and down horizontal integration (leading processing enterprises + logistics company + sales), and it would be a kind of competition among interest groups by division of cooperation. 展开更多

A novel grey Markov chain predictive model is discussed to reduce drift influence on the output of fiber optical gyroscopes (FOGs) and to improve FOGs' measurement precision. The proposed method possesses advantages of grey model and Markov chain. It makes good use of dynamic modeling idea of the grey model to predict general trend of original data. Then according to the trend, states are divided so that it can overcome the disadvantage of high computational cost of state transition probability matrix in Markov chain. Moreover, the presented approach expands the applied scope of the grey model and makes it be fit for prediction of random data with bigger fluctuation. The numerical results of real drift data from a certain type FOG verify the effectiveness of the proposed grey Markov chain model powerfully. The Markov chain is also investigated to provide a comparison with the grey Markov chain model. It is shown that the hybrid grey Markov chain prediction model has higher modeling precision than Markov chain itself, which prove this proposed method is very applicable and effective. 展开更多

Roller chain drives are widely used in various high-speed, high-load and power transmission applications, but their complex dynamic behavior is not well researched. Most studies were only focused on the analysis of the vibration of chain tight span, and in these models, many factors are neglected. In this paper, a mathematical model is developed to calculate the dynamic response of a roller chain drive working at constant or variable speed condition. In the model, the complete chain transmission with two sprockets and the necessary tight and slack spans is used. The effect of the flexibility of input shaft on dynamic response of the chain system is taken into account, as well as the elastic deformation in the chain, the inertial forces, the gravity and the torque on driven shaft. The nonlinear equations of movement are derived from using Lagrange equations and solved numerically. Given the center distance and the two initial position angles of teeth on driving and driven sprockets corresponding to the first seating roller on each side of the tight span, dynamics of any roller chain drive with two sprockets and two spans can be analyzed by the procedure. Finally, a numerical example is given and the validity of the procedure developed is demonstrated by analyzing the dynamic behavior of a typical roller chain drive. The model can well simulate the transverse and longitudinal vibration of the chain spans and the torsional vibration of the sprockets. This study can provide an effective method for the analysis of the dynamic characteristics of all the chain drive systems. 展开更多

We describe a quantitative analysis of such a system. A dynamic optimization model of the supply chain is developed. It has achieved optimal system profit under conditions guaranteeing a certain level of customer satisfaction. Applying this model to coal production of the Xuzhou coal mines allows recommendations for a more systematic use of washing and processing,transportation and sale resources for commercial coal production to be made. The results show that this model,which is scientific and effective,has an important value for making reasonable decisions related to complex coal enterprises. 展开更多

A new grey forecasting model based on BP neural network and Markov chain was proposed. In order to combine the grey forecasting model with neural network, an important theorem that the grey differential equation is equivalent to the time response model, was proved by analyzing the features of grey forecasting model(GM(1,1)). Based on this, the differential equation parameters were included in the network when the BP neural network was constructed, and the neural network was trained by extracting samples from grey system's known data. When BP network was converged, the whitened grey differential equation parameters were extracted and then the grey neural network forecasting model (GNNM(1,1)) was built. In order to reduce stochastic phenomenon in GNNM(1,1), the state transition probability between two states was defined and the Markov transition matrix was established by building the residual sequences between grey forecasting and actual value. Thus, the new grey forecasting model(MNNGM(1,1)) was proposed by combining Markov chain with GNNM(1,1). Based on the above discussion, three different approaches were put forward for forecasting China electricity demands. By comparing GM(1, 1) and GNNM(1,1) with the proposed model, the results indicate that the absolute mean error of MNNGM(1,1) is about 0.4 times of GNNM(1,1) and 0.2 times of GM(I, 1), and the mean square error of MNNGM(1,1) is about 0.25 times of GNNM(1,1) and 0.1 times of GM(1,1). 展开更多

In this paper we investigated the stability of konjac glucomnnan(KGM) chain hydrogen networks based on the quantum spin model. Dissipative particle dynamics method was applied in the structure simulation of KGM. The results reveled that acetyl residues of KGM were bonded with water molecules in aqueous solutions. Increasing the hydrogen bond formation decreases the energy in acetyl system. The expect-valuation of the thermal state with respect to the Hamiltonian is negative. Hence, the total energy of konjac glucomnnan chain with the acetyl groups decreases, which indicates the increasing stability of konjac glucomnnan chain. Our approach could provide a new insight into the investigation on the stability of konjac glucomnnan chain. 展开更多
