A laboratory study was conducted using particle image velocimetry(PIV)to measure flow velocity distributions over two-dimensional smooth and rough fixed dunes.It comprised 28 tests,each yielding 146 velocity profiles ...A laboratory study was conducted using particle image velocimetry(PIV)to measure flow velocity distributions over two-dimensional smooth and rough fixed dunes.It comprised 28 tests,each yielding 146 velocity profiles over one complete dune length.Two kinds of double-averaged velocity profiles were computed,one based on all the 146 lines of data(called global average),and the others from only some of them(called partial average).The results show that the global average velocity distribution is generally close to the partial average profile derived from evenly-distributed three or five lines along one dune length.Furthermore,the global average velocity profile can also be reasonably approximated using a single profile,measured at the representative line in this paper.The representative line is found to locate near the reattachment point.This result would be helpful to simplify measurements of general velocity distribution for a flow over dunes.The paper also applies the concept of representative line to the description of distributioAverage velocity profile turbulent flows fixed dunes representative linens of turbulence characteristics.展开更多
The measurement accuracy of an ultrasonic heat meter depends on the relationship of the profile-linear average velocity.There are various methods for the calculation of the laminar and turbulence flow regions,but few ...The measurement accuracy of an ultrasonic heat meter depends on the relationship of the profile-linear average velocity.There are various methods for the calculation of the laminar and turbulence flow regions,but few methods for the transition region.At present,the traditional method to deal with the transition region is to adopt the relationship for the turbulent flow region.In this article,a simplified model of the pipe is used to study the characteristics of the transition flow with specific Reynolds number.The k-εmodel and the Large Eddy Simulation(LES)model are,respectively,used to calculate the flow field of the transition region,and a comparison with the experiment results shows that the LES model is more effective than the k-εmodel,it is also shown that there will be a large error if the relationship based on the turbulence flow is used to calculate the profile-linear average velocity relationship of the transition flow.The profile-linear average velocity for the Reynolds number ranging from 5 300 to 10 000 are calculated,and the relationship curve is obtained.The results of this article can be used to improve the measurement accuracy of ultrasonic heat meter and provide a theoretical basis for the research of the whole transition flow.展开更多
We report on the properties of strong pulses from PSR B0656+14 by analyzing the data obtained using the Urumqi 25-m radio telescope at 1540 MHz from August 2007 to September 2010.In 44 h of observational data,a total...We report on the properties of strong pulses from PSR B0656+14 by analyzing the data obtained using the Urumqi 25-m radio telescope at 1540 MHz from August 2007 to September 2010.In 44 h of observational data,a total of 67 pulses with signal-to-noise ratios above a 5σthreshold were detected.The peak flux densities of these pulses are 58 to 194 times that of the average profile,and their pulse energies are 3 to 68 times that of the average pulse.These pulses are clustered around phases about 5-ahead of the peak of the average profile.Compared with the width of the average profile,they are relatively narrow,with the full widths at half-maximum ranging from 0.28 ° to 1.78 °.The distribution of pulse-energies follows a lognormal distribution.These sporadic strong pulses detected from PSR B0656+14 have different characteristics from both typical giant pulses and its regular pulses.展开更多
