This paper presents the solution of regulating the wind rate automatically by means of fuzzy control technology and implementing it with PLC (programmable logical controller) under the circumstance of many influence factors, which exists in the axial flow fans wind rate regulation system during the process of mine ventilation, and has difficulty in modifying the mathematic model to obtain the satisfied result by normal control ways. According to this analysis, the intelligent and analytic treatment of fuzzy controller has been made and fuzzy control scheme involving self regulation divisor and intelligent integral has been deeply proposed. Test result shows that this system based on the scheme above is obviously prior to others in its responsibility such as high speed, overshoot, control precision and robustness. The system furnishes the great reliability of mine working safety and fans running efficiency. 展开更多

Fluctuating voltage levels in power grids necessitate automatic voltage regulators(AVRs)to ensure stability.This study examined the modeling and control of AVR in hydroelectric power plants using model predictive control(MPC),which utilizes an extensive mathe-matical model of the voltage regulation system to optimize the control actions over a defined prediction horizon.This predictive feature enables MPC to minimize voltage deviations while accounting for operational constraints,thereby improving stability and performance under dynamic conditions.Thefindings were compared with those derived from an optimal proportional integral derivative(PID)con-troller designed using the artificial bee colony(ABC)algorithm.Although the ABC-PID method adjusts the PID parameters based on historical data,it may be difficult to adapt to real-time changes in system dynamics under constraints.Comprehensive simulations assessed both frameworks,emphasizing performance metrics such as disturbance rejection,response to load changes,and resilience to uncertainties.The results show that both MPC and ABC-PID methods effectively achieved accurate voltage regulation;however,MPC excelled in controlling overshoot and settling time—recording 0.0%and 0.25 s,respectively.This demonstrates greater robustness compared to conventional control methods that optimize PID parameters based on performance criteria derived from actual system behavior,which exhibited settling times and overshoots exceeding 0.41 s and 5.0%,respectively.The controllers were implemented using MATLAB/Simulink software,indicating a significant advancement for power plant engineers pursuing state-of-the-art automatic voltage regulations. 展开更多

Excitation regulator has played an important role to ensure that generator run safely and stably. However, in some remote areas, the rural small generator excitation control system is very backward, and it has hindered the development of Chinese agriculture and the pace of new countryside construction. This paper introduced a kind of structure and basic principle of DSP-based automatic excitation regulator, which was applied to rural small generator. We chose TMS320LF2407A chip as the core of regulator control system; the regulator adjusted PWM based on PID control strategy to control the exciting current. The theoretical analysis showed that the regulator had the characteristics of simplicity and reliability, well dynamic and static characteristics, and it could also adjust its own state quickly. The result was applicable to small rural hydropower station. 展开更多

The structure of the new fountain solution system mainly comprises a water inlet and medicine inlet system, a water tank circulation system, a water bucket and collection tank system, a refrigeration circulation system, a temperature control system and an automatic pH value detection and adjustment system of the fountain solution. The working flow and electrical control principle of the fountain solution system are described in detail. This paper focuses on the automatic detection and adjustment system of pH value of fountain solution, including the analysis of the control principle and process of the adjustment system, and the design and research of the pH master control system circuit and pH electrode signal measurement circuit. 展开更多

Determination of AVR System PID Controller Parameters Using Improved Variants of Reptile Search Algorithm and a Novel Objective Function

Two novel improved variants of reptile search algorithm(RSA),RSA with opposition-based learning(ORSA)and hybrid ORSA with pattern search(ORSAPS),are proposed to determine the proportional,integral,and derivative(PID)controller parameters of an automatic voltage regulator(AVR)system using a novel objective function with augmented flexibility.In the proposed algorithms,the opposition-based learning technique improves the global search abilities of the original RSA algorithm,while the hybridization with the pattern search(PS)algorithm improves the local search abilities.Both algorithms are compared with the original RSA algorithm and have shown to be highly effective algorithms for tuning the PID controller parameters of an AVR system by getting superior results.Several analyses such as transient,stability,robustness,disturbance rejection,and trajectory tracking are conducted to test the performance of the proposed algorithms,which have validated the good promise of the proposed methods for controller designs.The performances of the proposed design approaches are also compared with the previously reported PID controller parameter tuning approaches to assess their success.It is shown that both proposed approaches obtain excellent and robust results among all compared ones.That is,with the adjustment of the weight factorα,which is introduced by the proposed objective function,for a system with high bandwitdh(α=1),the proposed ORSAPS-PID system has 2.08%more bandwidth than the proposed ORSA-PID system and 5.1%faster than the fastest algorithm from the literature.On the other hand,for a system where high phase and gain margins are desired(α=10),the proposed ORSA-PID system has 0.53%more phase margin and 2.18%more gain margin than the proposed ORSAPS-PID system and has 0.71%more phase margin and 2.25%more gain margin than the best performing algorithm from the literature. 展开更多

We propose a new proportional-integral-derivative(PID) controller design method for an automatic voltage regulation(AVR) system based on approximate model matching in the frequency domain. The parameters of the PID controller are obtained by approximate frequency response matching between the closed-loop control system and a reference model with the desired specifications. Two low frequency points are required for matching the frequency response, and the design method yields linear algebraic equations, solution of which gives the controller parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through examples taken from the literature and comparison with some popular methods. 展开更多
