Thoracic spine fracture is a common orthopedic injury that is usually caused by external forces acting directly on or transmitted to the thoracic spine through other parts of the spine.Thoracic spine fractures can be divided into two types:stable and unstable.An unstable fracture means that the relationship between the vertebral bodies is no longer stable,which may cause serious consequences such as spinal compression,nerve root compression,or spinal cord injury.Surgical treatment is often needed for patients with unstable fractures,nerve root compression,or spinal cord injury to restore stability and function to the thoracic spine.The probability of complications after thoracolumbar fracture surgery is high,which affects the outcome of surgical treatment.To improve postoperative rehabilitation outcomes,this article analyzed the value of nursing care based on the enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)concept for patients undergoing thoracolumbar fracture surgery. 展开更多

Recent advances in the application of injectable hydrogels for myocardial infarction

Myocardial infarction(MI)continues to be a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular diseases worldwide,severely compromising cardiac structure and function.While conventional treatments-including pharmacological interventions,coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG),and percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)-can effectively restore coronary blood flow,their ability to regenerate cardiomyocytes and substantially improve cardiac function remains limited.In this context,injectable hydrogels have emerged as a groundbreaking therapeutic approach,presenting remarkable potential for MI treatment owing to their exceptional biocompatibility,tunable mechanical properties,and versatile functionality.These hydrogels can form stable three-dimensional networks within infarcted myocardium,not only providing mechanical support to mitigate ventricular wall stress but also serving as delivery platforms for bioactive components such as growth factors,therapeutic drugs,and stem cells.Through multiple mechanisms-including attenuation of oxidative stress and calcium overload to protect cardiomyocytes,stimulation of angiogenesis to enhance tissue perfusion,and regulation of inflammatory responses to reduce fibrotic scarring-injectable hydrogels significantly promote myocardial repair and regeneration.Preclinical studies have consistently validated the therapeutic efficacy of various injectable hydrogel formulations in improving cardiac outcomes post-MI,highlighting their transformative potential in cardiovascular medicine. 展开更多

Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion is a process in which the blood supply to the brain is temporarily interrupted and subsequently restored.However,it is highly likely to lead to further aggravation of pathological damage to ischemic tissues or the nervous system.,and has accordingly been a focus of extensive clinical research.As a traditional Chinese medicinal formulation,Sanhua Decoction has gradually gained importance in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases.Its main constituents include Citrus aurantium,Magnolia officinalis,rhubarb,and Qiangwu,which are primarily used to regulate qi.In the treatment of neurological diseases,the therapeutic effects of the Sanhua Decoction are mediated via different pathways,including antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and neurotransmitter regu-latory pathways,as well as through the protection of nerve cells and a reduction in cerebral edema.Among the studies conducted to date,many have found that the application of Sanhua Decoction in the treatment of neurological diseases has clear therapeutic effects.In addition,as a natural treatment,the Sanhua Decoction has received widespread attention,given that it is safer and more effective than traditional Western medicines.Consequently,research on the mechanisms of action and efficacy of the Sanhua Decoctions in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury is of considerable significance.In this paper,we describe the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and review the current status of its treatment to examine the therapeutic mechanisms of action of the Sanhua Decoction.We hope that the findings of the research presented herein will contribute to a better understanding of the efficacy of this formulation in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,and provide a scientific basis for its application in clinical practice. 展开更多

Forest planning involves estimating the biomass of species present in the area.Two fundamental parameters are diameter and height through which it is possible to indirectly estimate of biomass present.Digitalisation of forestry operations,such as forest planning,is crucial and should be affordable and easy-to-use digital applications and open-source devices.A digital progressive web application(PWA)was designed to record measurements.The app was connected via bluetoot to an open-source IoT digital forestry caliper prototyped by modifying a commercial tree caliper.An economic analysis was carried out considering all costs necessary for the development and operation of the app on smartphones and the preparation of electronic means for creation of the digital caliper.A comparison was made between costs of detecting tree diameters through application of the technology developed compared to costs calculated by applying the use of a dendrometric caliper(three technological levels were considered:L1,L2 and L3).The PWA allowed for easy data entry and viewing,maps and tree densities.The open-source digital caliper showed accuracy and precision comparable with similar commercial devices(1.5%±0.9%and 0.0%±0.9%,respectively).Total time per operator was lower using the digital caliper.From an economic perspective,application of the digital technology was more sustainable than the traditional system.Use of the digital caliper in combination with the web application optimizes detection time of a single tree,and therefore decreases overall cost. 展开更多

Unsustainable fossil fuel energy usage and its environmental impacts are the most significant scientific challenges in the scientific community.Two-dimensional(2D)materials have received a lot of attention recently because of their great potential for application in addressing some of society’s most enduring issues with renewable energy.Transition metal-based nitrides,carbides,or carbonitrides,known as“MXenes”,are a relatively new and large family of 2D materials.Since the discovery of the first MXene,Ti_(3)C_(2) in 2011 has become one of the fastest-expanding families of 2D materials with unique physiochemical features.MXene surface terminations with hydroxyl,oxygen,fluorine,etc.,are invariably present in the so far reported materials,imparting hydrophilicity to their surfaces.The current finding of multi-transition metal-layered MXenes with controlled surface termination capacity opens the door to fabricating unique structures for producing renewable energy.MXene NMs-based flexible chemistry allows them to be tuned for energy-producing/storage,electromagnetic interference shielding,gas/biosensors,water distillation,nanocomposite reinforcement,lubrication,and photo/electro/chemical catalysis.This review will first discuss the advancement of MXenes synthesis methods,their properties/stability,and renewable energy applications.Secondly,we will highlight the constraints and challenges that impede the scientific community from synthesizing functional MXene with controlled composition and properties.We will further reveal the high-tech implementations for renewable energy storage applications along with future challenges and their solutions. 展开更多
