The genus Actinidia is primarily functionally dioecious,and early sex identification plays a crucial role in improving breeding efficiency and reducing production costs.In this study,the accuracy of three sex-linked molecular markers(SyGI[Shy Girl],FrBy[Friendly Boy],and SmY1)in sex identification was evaluated in various Actinidia species.The selected marker products were subsequently cloned and sequenced in six wild Actinidia species.Ninety-six wild A.chinensis chinensis accessions and 74 A.chinensis deliciosa accessions,most of which were wild,with only one cultivated,were used for comprehensive primer validation.Thirty-three juvenile A.chinensis chinensis hybrid seedlings were used for practical application tests.The results showed that the marker SyGI accurately identified the sex of 20 samples from six Actinidia species and 96 A.chinensis chinensis accessions with 100%reliability.For Actinidia chinensis deliciosa,the identification accuracy reached 98.65%.Sequence analysis revealed that SyGI shared the highest similarity with the male-specific genomic region.Furthermore,SyGI achieved 100%accuracy in identifying the sex of 33 juvenile A.chinensis chinensis individuals.The findings confirm that the SyGI marker possesses high accuracy,strong specificity,and broad applicability,making it a valuable tool for kiwifruit breeding programs.The cloned sequences from wild Actinidia species also provide important references for future research on the mechanisms of sexual evolution and determination. 展开更多

Biomass is a resourcewhose organic carbon is formed from atmospheric carbon dioxide.It has numerous characteristics such as low carbon emissions,renewability,and environmental friendliness.The efficient utilization of biomass plays a significant role in promoting the development of clean energy,alleviating environmental pressures,and achieving carbon neutrality goals.Among the numerous processing technologies of biomass,hydrothermal carbonization(HTC)is a promising thermochemical process that can decompose and convert biomass into hydrochar under relatively mild conditions of approximately 180℃–300℃,thereby enabling its efficient resource utilization.In addition,HTC can directly process feedstocks with high moisture content without the need for high-temperature drying,resulting in lower energy consumption.Based on a systematic analysis of the critical articles mainly published in 2011-2025 related to biomass,HTC,and hydrochar applications,in this review,the category of biomass was first classified and the chemical compositions were summarized.Then,the main chemical reaction pathways involved in biomass decomposition and transformation during the HTC process were introduced.Meanwhile,the roles of key process parameters,including reaction temperature,residence time,pH,feedstock type,pressure,mass ratio of biomass to water,and the use of catalysts on HTC,were carefully discussed.Finally,the applications of hydrochar in energy utilization,environmental remediation,soil improvement,adsorbent,microbial fermentation,and phosphorus recovery fields were highlighted.The future directions of the HTC process were also provided,which would respond to climate change by promoting the development of the sustainable carbon materials field. 展开更多

Liver transplantation(LT)remains the optimal life-saving intervention for patients with end-stage liver disease.Despite the recent advances in LT several barriers,including organ allocation,donor-recipient matching,and patient education,persist.With the growing progress of artificial intelligence,particularly large language models(LLMs)like ChatGPT,new applications have emerged in the field of LT.Current studies demonstrating usage of ChatGPT in LT include various areas of application,from clinical settings to research and education.ChatGPT usage can benefit both healthcare professionals,by decreasing the time spent on non-clinical work,but also LT recipients by providing accurate information.Future potential applications include the expanding usage of ChatGPT and other LLMs in the field of LT pathology and radiology as well as the automated creation of discharge summaries or other related paperwork.Additionally,the next models of ChatGPT might have the potential to provide more accurate patient education material with increased readability.Although ChatGPT usage presents promising applications,there are certain ethical and practical limitations.Key concerns include patient data privacy,information accuracy,misinformation possibility and lack of legal framework.Healthcare providers and policymakers should collaborate for the establishment of a controlled framework for the safe use of ChatGPT.The aim of this minireview is to summarize current literature on ChatGPT in LT,highlighting both opportunities and limitations,while also providing future possible applications. 展开更多

Radiative cooling systems(RCSs)possess the distinctive capability to dissipate heat energy via solar and thermal radiation,making them suitable for thermal regulation and energy conservation applications,essential for mitigating the energy crisis.A comprehensive review connecting the advancements in engineered radiative cooling systems(ERCSs),encompassing material and structural design as well as thermal and energy-related applications,is currently absent.Herein,this review begins with a concise summary of the essential concepts of ERCSs,followed by an introduction to engineered materials and structures,containing nature-inspired designs,chromatic materials,meta-structural configurations,and multilayered constructions.It subsequently encapsulates the primary applications,including thermal-regulating textiles and energy-saving devices.Next,it highlights the challenges of ERCSs,including maximized thermoregulatory effects,environmental adaptability,scalability and sustainability,and interdisciplinary integration.It seeks to offer direction for forthcoming fundamental research and industrial advancement of radiative cooling systems in real-world applications. 展开更多

[Objectives]To investigate the effects of different planting densities and nitrogen application rates on the yield and quality of the tobacco cultivar Chuxue 80.[Methods]A field experiment was conducted in Hubei Province,evaluating various combinations of planting density and nitrogen rate for Chuxue 80.[Results]At the maturity stage,the TN1 treatment(5 kg N per 667 m^(2) with a density of 1900 plants per 667 m^(2))demonstrated the most favorable agronomic performance.The TN9 treatment(11 kg N per 667 m^(2) with a density of 1110 plants per 667 m^(2))achieved the highest wrapper tobacco yield and output value.Meanwhile,the TN5 treatment(8 kg N per 667 m^(2) with a density of 1515 plants per 667 m^(2))resulted in the best smoking quality.[Conclusions]The TN9 treatment,with a planting density of 1110 plants per 667 m^(2) and a nitrogen application rate of 11 kg per 667 m^(2),is recommended as the optimal cultivation practice for Chuxue 80 in Hubei Province. 展开更多

Mg alloys have garnered significant attention in advanced engineering applications due to their exceptional combination of specificstrength and lightweight properties.Theα-Mg solid solution,which constitutes the core component of Mg alloys,directly governs the alloy’sthermodynamic behavior,kinetic response,and overall performance.This paper systematically reviews the effects of theα-Mg matrix phase onmechanical properties(e.g.,when the average grain size of pure Mg is refined from 59.7μm to 1.57μm,the alloy’s yield strength increasesby 122 MPa),corrosion resistance(e.g.,adding 0.5%Gd and 0.5%Sc to pure Mg reduces the alloy’s weight loss rate from 208.71 mm/yearto 0.29 mm/year),damping properties,electromagnetic shielding properties,and flame retardancy,and reveals the microscopic interactionmechanisms between the matrix phase,solute atoms,crystal defects,and second phases.Furthermore,this paper critically analyzes the keyrole of the matrix phase in emerging fields such as bio-Mg alloys(e.g.,controlled degradation rate design),Mg-air batteries(e.g.,anodeefficiency optimization),and Mg-based hydrogen storage materials(e.g.,enhancement of hydrogen absorption/desorption kinetics).Finally,this paper explores the significant potential of data-driven methods in the design and development of next-generation high-performance Mgalloys. 展开更多

Eucommia ulmoides is an important economic forest tree species in China,of which the different tissues and organs are widely used in traditional medicine for their abundant bioactive ingredients.Previous studies always focused on the Eucommia gum,a potential alternative to natural rubber because of its“rubber plastic duality”.In recent years,Eucommia has increasingly attracted more attention and interest for its excellent nutritional and economic value,with the deepening of research and the development of products involving in the application of bioactive ingredients.However,the dietary health effects and future application prospects of the bioactive components of E.ulmoides have not been systematically summarized.Therefore,we firstly reviewed the main bioactive ingredients category,structural characteristics,extraction methods and nutritive value.Furthermore,we also summarized the wide application of bioactive ingredients in food and medicine fields.Finally,this review provides a comprehensive overview of the safety and future development of products derived from E.ulmoides,as well as exploring potential applications for its bioactive constituents,aiming to facilitate further extensive investigation into its utilization. 展开更多

Electrically responsive ionic soft actuators using cellulose nanofibers doped with graphene nanosheets

Soft actuators based on cellulose with highly electro-responsive properties have attracted significant attention in the fields of wearable devices,medical and healthcare devices,soft robots,and human-computer interactions.However,existing cellulose-based soft actuators still need to be improved in terms of actuation displacement,bending strain,and driving frequency.Herein,we report a highly responsive ionic actuator using carboxylated cellulose nanofibers from wood pulp(CNFp),graphene nanosheets(GN),and ionic liquids(IL).The CNFp-IL-GN actuator exhibited a large specific capacitance of 749.11 mF/cm^(2)under a 25 mV/s scan rate,a large mechanical displacement(25 mm peak-to-peak)under 2.0 V at 0.1 Hz,a broad actuation frequency(0.1 to 10 Hz),and long working stability.Furthermore,bioinspired applications,including bionic dragonflies and artificial soft-touch fingers,have been demonstrated.These results demonstrate that the proposed actuator is a significant method for advancing soft actuators,artificial muscles,and bioinspired robots. 展开更多

Flash Joule heating(FJH),as a high-efficiency and low-energy consumption technology for advanced materials synthesis,has shown significant potential in the synthesis of graphene and other functional carbon materials.Based on the Joule effect,the solid carbon sources can be rapidly heated to ultra-high temperatures(>3000 K)through instantaneous high-energy current pulses during FJH,thus driving the rapid rearrangement and graphitization of carbon atoms.This technology demonstrates numerous advantages,such as solvent-and catalyst-free features,high energy conversion efficiency,and a short process cycle.In this review,we have systematically summarized the technology principle and equipment design for FJH,as well as its raw materials selection and pretreatment strategies.The research progress in the FJH synthesis of flash graphene,carbon nanotubes,graphene fibers,and anode hard carbon,as well as its by-products,is also presented.FJH can precisely optimize the microstructures of carbon materials(e.g.,interlayer spacing of turbostratic graphene,defect concentration,and heteroatom doping)by regulating its operation parameters like flash voltage and flash time,thereby enhancing their performances in various applications,such as composite reinforcement,metal-ion battery electrodes,supercapacitors,and electrocatalysts.However,this technology is still challenged by low process yield,macroscopic material uniformity,and green power supply system construction.More research efforts are also required to promote the transition of FJH from laboratory to industrial-scale applications,thus providing innovative solutions for advanced carbon materials manufacturing and waste management toward carbon neutrality. 展开更多

Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are driven by intricate and multifactorial pathophysiological mechanisms,presenting substantial challenges for the development of effective therapeutic strategies.Recent studies have highlighted the therapeutic potential of various traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs),which exert vasodilatory,anti-inflammatory,and antioxidant effects that may alleviate clinical symptoms and slow CVD progression.Ziziphora clinopodioides,a traditional herbal medicine,contains primarily flavonoids,phenolic acids,and essential oils.These compounds contribute to its pharmacological activities,including inhibition of apoptosis inhibition,inflammation reduction,oxidative stress mitigation,mitochondrial function improvement,and vasodilation promotion,all of which are relevant to CVD treatment.This review comprehensively examines the pathophysiological basis of CVDs,elucidates the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways involved in the cardioprotective actions of Ziziphora clinopodioides,and summarizes its emerging clinical applications in cardiovascular therapy.The findings aim to inform future research and promote the rational development of this medicinal plant as a complementary or adjunctive treatment for CVDs. 展开更多

With the deep integration of smart manufacturing and IoT technologies,higher demands are placed on the intelligence and real-time performance of industrial equipment fault detection.For industrial fans,base bolt loosening faults are difficult to identify through conventional spectrum analysis,and the extreme scarcity of fault data leads to limited training datasets,making traditional deep learning methods inaccurate in fault identification and incapable of detecting loosening severity.This paper employs Bayesian Learning by training on a small fault dataset collected from the actual operation of axial-flow fans in a factory to obtain posterior distribution.This method proposes specific data processing approaches and a configuration of Bayesian Convolutional Neural Network(BCNN).It can effectively improve the model’s generalization ability.Experimental results demonstrate high detection accuracy and alignment with real-world applications,offering practical significance and reference value for industrial fan bolt loosening detection under data-limited conditions. 展开更多

Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is a leading cause of vision loss among working-age populations,with early screening significantly reducing the risk of blindness.However,resource-limited regions often face challenges in DR screening due to a shortage of ophthalmologists.This study reports the implementation and outcomes of the Chinese local standard DB52/T 1726-2023,Regulations for the application of diabetic retinopathy screening artificial intelligence,in Cambodian healthcare institutions.A pilot DR screening program with independent operational capability is established by providing a non-mydriatic fundus camera and deploying a localized diabetic retinopathy artificial intelligence(DR-AI)screening platform at the Cambodia-Kingdom Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh,along with comprehensive training.From January to August 2025,a total of 565 patients with type 2 diabetes were screened,yielding a DR detection rate of 26.0%(147 cases).Research findings demonstrate that applying mature Chinese DR-AI screening standards and technological solutions through international collaboration in regions with a scarcity of ophthalmic professionals is both feasible and effective.This project serves as a reference for promoting DR-AI in resource-constrained countries and regions,highlighting its significant potential to leverage AI in addressing the global burden of chronic diseases and advancing the modernization of health systems. 展开更多

Morocco's oat sector is shifting from forage to food,creating demand for varieties with proven processing performance.We profiled nine Moroccan oats(four parental lines,four interspecific derivatives,and one hull-less diploid check)against the key drivers of functionality:β-glucan,hydration metrics(WAI,WSI,swelling power),interfacial metrics(foam capacity/stability,emulsion capacity/stability),and kernel geometry(thousand-kernel weight/width),using SEM to interpret microstructure.Varietal differences were pronounced and actionable.The A.sativa×A.magna derivative Hamdali showed fast wetting(low WAI),strong foaming(highest FS),and high emulsion capacity.These traits make it suitable for oat drinks and large,crack-free flakes.The A.sativa×A.murphyi descendants Al Fawze and Abtah exhibited restrained swelling(lower SP)and moderate WAI/WSI,favoring crisp snacks,biscuits,and pasta;Abtah additionally delivered high emulsion stability suitable for shelf-stable beverages.Amlal and Nezha offered balanced,steerable profiles.Linkingβ-glucan,hydration,and interfacial behavior to kernel traits provides a variety-to-application map for Moroccan oats.We recommend Hamdali/Niema for foamed beverages/flakes;Tissir/Soualem for porridges and thick beverages;Abtah for pasta and stable emulsions;Al Fawze for crisp snacks/biscuits. 展开更多

As Internet of Things(IoT)applications expand,Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)has emerged as a promising architecture to overcome the real-time processing limitations of mobile devices.Edge-side computation offloading plays a pivotal role in MEC performance but remains challenging due to complex task topologies,conflicting objectives,and limited resources.This paper addresses high-dimensional multi-objective offloading for serial heterogeneous tasks in MEC.We jointly consider task heterogeneity,high-dimensional objectives,and flexible resource scheduling,modeling the problem as a Many-objective optimization.To solve it,we propose a flexible framework integrating an improved cooperative co-evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition(MOCC/D)and a flexible scheduling strategy.Experimental results on benchmark functions and simulation scenarios show that the proposed method outperforms existing approaches in both convergence and solution quality. 展开更多
