Effects of rolling process and annealing temperature on the properties of the Cu-Mg-Te-Y alloys were correspondingly investigated. The results indicate that the Mg element is homogeneously distributed in the matrix and the fragmentized Cu2Te phase is dispersed in the matrix after hot rolling. Then, the Cu2Te phase is further stretched to strip shape after the cold rolling process. The microstructures of the cold-rolled alloy keep unchanged for the sample annealed below 390 ℃ for 1 h. However, after annealing at 550 ℃ for 1 h, the copper alloy with fibrous microstructures formed during the cold rolling process recrystallizes, leading to an obvious drop of hardening effect and an increase of electrical conductivity. The Cu-Mg-Te-Y alloy with better comprehensive properties is obtained by annealing at 360-390 ℃.展开更多

Microstructure and hardness of the annealed powders were characterized. Pre-annealing results in decreasing Al matrix hardness, dissolving of needle-like eutectic Si phase, precipitation and growth of supersaturated Si atoms, and spheroidisation of primary Si phase. Compactibility of the alloy powders is gradually improved with increasing the annealing temperature to 400 ℃. However, it decreases when the temperature is above 400 ℃ owing to the existence of Si-Si phase clusters and the densely distributed Si particles. A maximum relative density of 96.1% is obtained after annealing at 400 ℃ for 4 h. In addition, the deviation of compactibility among the pre-annealed powders reaches a maximum at a pressure of 175 MPa. Therefore, a proper pre-annealing treatment can significantly enhance the cold compactibility of gas-atomized Al-Si alloy powders.展开更多

The Ni(Ti) solid solution was formed in the initial milling process. When the milling time was 60 h, the alloy with uniform elemental distribution showed an amorphous structure containing a small amount of TiH2 nanocrystalline phase. The annealing treatment at 693 K contributed to a completion of amorphization for the alloy milled for 60 h. For the treatment at 1 073 K, a crystallization reaction for the amorphous phase occurred, leading to the formation of Ti2Ni, TiNi, and TiNi3 compounds by a short time treatment. Moreover, a separation of Ni-rich phases from the matrix and a phase transition among these three compounds occur by a long time treatment.展开更多

With increasing the annealing temperature, the phase boundaries and secondary a-phase increase, whereas the volume fraction of primary a-phase decreases, resulting in increased strength and decreased elongation A relatively fine secondary a-phase is obtained after double annealing. The desirable mechanical properties (i.e., ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation are 1070 MPa, 958 MPa, and 15%, respectively) are obtained through double annealing ((950 ℃/2 h, AC)+(600 ℃/2 h, AC)). The fractographs obtained after tensile tests show that the deepest and largest dimples are formed in the specimen annealed at 850 ℃, which indicates that the best plasticity is obtained at this annealing temperature.展开更多

Cryorolled samples of Al 5083 show significant improvements in strength and hardness. The ultimate tensile strength increases up to 340 MPa and 390 MPa for the 30% and 50% cryorolled samples, respectively. The cryorolled samples, with 30% and 50% reduction, were subjected to Charpy impact testing at various temperatures from 190℃ to 100℃. It is observed that increasing the percentage of reduction of samples during cryorolling has significant effect on decreasing impact toughness at all temperatures by increasing yield strength and decreasing ductility. Annealing of samples after cryorolling shows remarkable increment in impact toughness through recovery and recrystallization. The average grain size of the 50% cryorolled sample (14 μm) after annealing at 350℃ for 1 h is found to be finer than that of the 30% cryorolled sample (25 μm). The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of fractured surfaces shows a large-size dimpled morphology, resembling the ductile fracture mechanism in the starting material and fibrous structure with very fine dimples in cryorolled samples corresponding to the brittle fracture mechanism.展开更多

文摘Microstructures and element distributions of the as-cast, hot-rolled and cold-rolled Cu-Mg-Te-Y alloys were studied. The Cu-Mg-Te-Y alloy with better comprehensive properties is obtained by annealing at 360-390 ℃.

文摘Mg-3Gd(wt.%)samples with different initial grain sizes were prepared to evaluate the grain size effect on microstructural evolution during cold rolling and subsequent annealing hardening response. The deformation behavior and mechanical response of the as-rolled and annealed samples were systematically investigated by a combination of electron microscopy and microhardness characterization. The results show that the twinning activities were highly suppressed in the fine-grained samples during rolling.Upon increasing the rolling reduction to 40%,ultra-fine grain structures with a volume fraction of∼28%were formed due to the activation of multiple slip systems.Conversely, twinning dominated the early stages of deformation in the coarse-grained samples. After a 10%rolling reduction, numerous twins with a volume fraction of∼23%were formed.Further increasing the rolling reduction to 40%,high-density dislocations were activated and twin structures with a volume fraction of∼36%were formed. The annealing hardening response of deformed samples was effectively enhanced compared to that of the non-deformed samples, which was attributed to the enhanced Gd segregation along grain boundaries, twin boundaries and dislocation cores. Moreover, the grain size and rolling reduction were found to affect the microstructure evolution during annealing, resulting in a notable difference in the annealing hardening response of Mg-3Gd alloy between samples of different grain sizes deformed to different strains. These findings highlight the crucial importance of microstructural and processing parameters in the design of high-strength,cost-effective Mg alloys.

文摘A novel low-cost titanium alloy sheet was fabricated by electron beam cold hearth melting using titanium alloy scrap and low-cost elemental intermediate alloys. The evolution of its microstructure and mechanical properties was systematically investigated following annealing at various temperatures. The findings demonstrated that annealing has a relatively modest effect on the microstructure. As the annealing temperature increases, the lamellarαphase preferentially thickens along its width, while secondaryαappears at higher temperatures.Correspondingly, within the investigated temperature range, the strength of the alloy exhibits a nonmonotonic trend—initially decreasing and then increasing—whereas ductility varies inversely.

文摘The low coercivity is the major factor inhibiting the large-scale commercial utilization of Nd-Ce-Fe-B sintered magnets. In this work,we achieved a record-high coercivity of 15.04 kOe in Ga-doped Nd-Ce-Fe-B sintered magnets with 30 wt%Ce replacing Nd,demonstrating enormous potential. The Ga-doped Nd-Ce-Fe-B magnets with higher boron(HB)and lower boron(LB)content are designed. The coercivity of the HB magnet increases slightly from 10.80 to 12.26 kOe after annealing, attributed to the optimized distribution of grain boundary(GB)phases. In contrast, the coercivity of the LB magnet remarkably increases from 8.13 to 15.04 kOe after annealing.Microstructural observations indicate that the narrow GB phase in the as-sintered magnet is rich in Fe,and the strong exchange coupling of adjacent grains resulted in low coercivity. The evolution of Ga-rich phases reveals a potential formation mechanism of the RE_(6)Fe_(13)Ga phase, that is the RE-Fe amorphous phase and REGa phase in the as-sintered magnet combine to form the RE_(6)Fe_(13)Ga phase and RE-Ga amorphous phase during post-sinter annealing(RE:rare earth). Moreover, the GB phase of the annealed magnet transforms into a Fe-lean phase with a thickness of 16.4 nm.Magnetization and demagnetization behavior characterizations reveal that the exchange decoupling of adjacent grains induced by the optimized GB phases is the main reason for the remarkable coercivity enhancement, which is also validated by micromagnetic simulations.
文摘Effects of intercritical annealing temperature on microstructures and mechanical properties of ultrahigh-strength dual-phase(DP) steel were investigated. Results reveal that the volume fraction of martensite increases as the intercritical annealing temperature increases.Under optimal annealing conditions, the DP steel exhibited a microstructure comprising nearly equiaxed ferrite with uniformly distributed martensite islands.Variations in micro-hardness, strength, elongation, and fracture mechanisms were closely linked to the corresponding microstructural features.

文摘Effect of pre-annealing treatment temperature on compactibility of gas-atomized Al-27%Si alloy powders was investigated. Therefore, a proper pre-annealing treatment can significantly enhance the cold compactibility of gas-atomized Al-Si alloy powders.

文摘The effects of the inter-annealing process on the microstructure, plane stress fracture toughness, and tensile properties of an AA7075 cladding sheet were investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electron backscattered diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and mechanical property tests. The results indicate that the plane stress fracture toughness of AA7075-T6 cladding sheet can be greatly improved. The plane stress fracture toughness for the longitudinal-transverse(L-T)and transverse-longitudinal(T-L)directions were 117.7 and 94.8 MPa·m^(1/2),respectively,after intermediate annealing at 380°C.This represents an increase of 23.9 MPa·m^(1/2)in the L-T direction and 22.6 MPa·m^(1/2) in the T-L direction compared with the AA7075-T6 cladding sheet without intermediate annealing. Moreover, the tensile strength remains similar under different conditions.Microstructure analysis indicates that intermediate annealing before heat treatment can result in long sub-grains,few recrystallized grain boundaries, and small size precipitates in AA7075-T6 cladding sheets.

文摘Mechanical alloying and subsequent annealing treatment were carried out to investigate the evolution of the microstructure and morphology of the TiH2-Ni system. Moreover, a separation of Ni-rich phases from the matrix and a phase transition among these three compounds occur by a long time treatment.

文摘As-rolled titanium/steel composite plate has poor plastic deformation ability, and it is difficult to achieve synergistic deformation, especially for dissimilar metals with very different plastic deformation abilities. The 304/TC4 composite plate with corrugated interface was manufactured using the asymmetric rolling with local strong stress method. The changing rules of bonding strength and synergistic deformation ability of corrugated interface under different annealing process parameters were studied. The results show that in the range of 550–850℃,especially after the temperature exceeds 650℃,with increasing the annealing temperature and time, the difference of microstructure between peak and trough positions increases, and the bonding strength of the composite plate decreases gradually.Especially, the interfacial bonding strength of the plate sharply decreases at 750℃ due to the rapid growth of intermetallic compounds at the interface and the diffusion holes caused by the difference of element diffusion. The 304/TC4 composite plate has the best synergistic deformation ability when annealing at 650℃/2 h,with the elongation reaching 35%and the tensile strength decreasing to 852 MPa.High interfacial bonding strength and moderate matrix recovery are important prerequisites for synergistic deformation of composite plates.

文摘The mechanical properties, microstructures, and fractographs of TA15 sheets vacuum-annealed under different patterns were investigated. The results indicate that vacuum annealing significantly improves the mechanical properties of the sheets in comparison with those after ambient annealing. The fractographs obtained after tensile tests show that the deepest and largest dimples are formed in the specimen annealed at 850 ℃, which indicates that the best plasticity is obtained at this annealing temperature.

文摘Homogenization annealing of the 7050/6009 bimetal slab prepared by direct-chill casting was investigated and its effects on microstructural evolution, composition distribution and mechanical properties in the interfacial region of the bimetal were studied. The results show that the optimized homogenization annealing process was 460℃for 24 h. After homogenization annealing, the Zn-rich phases and Al15(FeMn)3Si2phases were precipitated at the interface of the bimetal. The diffusion layer thickness of homogenized bimetal increased by 30 μm from 440 to480℃for 24 h, while it increased by 280 μm from 12 to 36 h at 460℃. The Vickers hardnessesat 6009 alloy side and interface of the bimetal decreased after homogenized annealing and grain coarsening was considered asthedominating softening mechanism. The hardness variation at 7050 alloy side was complicated due to the combined action of solution strengthening, dispersion strengthening and dissolution of reinforced phases.

文摘The unique high-entropy and sluggish diffusion effects of amorphous high-entropy alloys endow them with excellent thermal stability and plastic deformation. In this work, the near-equiatomic TaTiZr amorphous medium-entropy alloy(AMEA)was prepared via the magnetron sputtering to investigate the microstructural thermostability and nanoindentation creep behavior.Thermal annealing below the glass transition temperature gave rise to the microstructural heterogeneity due to the positive mixing enthalpy in TaTiZr AMEA,which became increasingly enhanced with raising the annealing temperature.Correspondingly, there appeared a monotonic increase in hardness as well as the elastic/shear modulus, yet a reduction in strain-rate sensitivity m or an increment in shear transformation zone volume with annealing temperature.Meanwhile, the indentation morphology measured by atomic force microscope exhibited a significant transformation from pile-up to sink-in,demonstrating the degradation of plastic deformability with enhancing the microstructural heterogeneity.Based on the relaxation time spectra for Maxwell-Voigt model, the microstructural heterogeneity can restrain the activation of internal defects associated with the operation of flow units during creeping, further triggering the strain-strengthening behavior and improved creep resistance in the annealed samples. This work provides significant guidance for the structural design of high-performance amorphous alloys.
文摘In this study, the effect of decarburization annealing temperature and time on the carbon content, microstructure, and texture of grain-oriented pure iron was investigated by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy with electron-backscatter diffraction. The results showed that the efficiency of decarburization dramatically increased with increasing decarburization temperature. However, when the annealing temperature was increased to 825°C and 850°C,the steel's carbon content remained essentially unchanged at 0.002%. With increasing decarburization time, the steel's carbon content generally decreased. When both the decarburization temperature and time were increased further, the average grain size dramatically increased and the number of fine grains decreased; meanwhile, some relatively larger grains developed. The main texture types of the decarburized sheets were approximately the same: {001}<110> and {112~115}<110>,with a γ-fiber texture. Furthermore, little change was observed in the texture. Compared with the experimental sheets, the texture of the cold-rolled sheet was very scattered. The best average magnetic induction(B_(800)) among the final products was 1.946 T.

文摘The influence of rolling at liquid nitrogen temperature and annealing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al 5083 alloy was studied in this paper. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of fractured surfaces shows a large-size dimpled morphology, resembling the ductile fracture mechanism in the starting material and fibrous structure with very fine dimples in cryorolled samples corresponding to the brittle fracture mechanism.
