BACKGROUND Liver cancer is a malignant tumor with a high incidence. At present, the most effective treatment is laparoscopic hepatectomy(LH).Indocyanine green fluorescence imaging(ICG-FI)has become an important tool in LH,and the most common fluorescent types of tumors are total fluorescence, partial fluorescence, and rim fluorescence.CASE SUMMARY We presented four cases of LH guided by ICG-FI in which we also observed the fourth special fluorescent type. When the tumor or intrahepatic stone compresses the adjacent bile duct to cause local cholestasis, the liver segment or subsegment with obstructed bile drainage will show strong fluorescence.Complete removal of the lesion together with the fluorescent liver parenchyma may help reduce the risk of tumor or stone recurrence.CONCLUSION This type of partial fluorescence can indicate local biliary compression, and the resection method is related to bile drainage, which may be called functional anatomical hepatectomy and ensures radical resection of the lesion. 展开更多

Spinal cord injury(SCI)with consecutive paralysis below the lesion level is a severe disorder affecting the patient for the rest of his or her life.So far, there is no known fundamental intervention strategy for efficiently helping those patients regain their motor abilities, despite intense research in this area. Thus, effective treatment for those patients is still an open question. A spinal cord injury is accompanied by a prima- ry, severe and irreversible neuronal cell death in the trauma region, fol- lowed by a secondary extensive cell necrosis in the lesion surrounding areas. Nevertheless, recent studies indicate that regeneration after spinal cord injury could be possible if three substantial steps are fulfilled: (1) reduction of the inhibitory environment at the SCI lesion site, (2) iden- tification of a neural substrate to establish new spinal circuits, and (3) support of these circuits to form permanent, functional motor, sensory, or autonomic connections (Dru and Hoh, 2015). 展开更多

The short allele of the serotonin-transporter gene is associated with higher risk for anxiety and depression in Caucasians, but this association is still unclear in Asians. Here, we addressed this issue using behavioral and multi-modal MRI approaches in a large group of healthy Han Chinese participants (n = 233). In contrast to findings in Caucasians, we found that long-allele (L) carriers had higher anxiety scores. In another group (n = 64) experiencing significant levels of depression or anxiety, the L-allele frequency was also significantly higher. In healthy participants, L-carriers had reduced functional and anatomical connectivity between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex (PFC), which was correlated with anxiety or depression scores. Our findings demonstrated that in Chinese Han participants, in contrast to Caucasians, the L-allele confers vulnerability to anxiety or depression and weakens top-down emotional control between the PFC and amygdala. Therefore, ethnic background should be taken into account in gene-related studies and their potential clinical applications. 展开更多

Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),a cornerstone of modern diagnostics, utilizes powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed anatomical and functional images without relying on ionizing radiation.Since its introduction into clinical practice in the 1980s,MRI has revolutionized medicine by offering noninvasive, highresolution insights into human anatomy and pathophysiology, particularly in neurology, oncology, and inflammatory diseases. 展开更多
