Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is a treasure of China’s traditional medical heritage,embodying the wisdom and cultural depth of the Chinese nation.Higher TCM education shoulders the important responsibility of pres...Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is a treasure of China’s traditional medical heritage,embodying the wisdom and cultural depth of the Chinese nation.Higher TCM education shoulders the important responsibility of preserving and advancing TCM,and in today’s context,it offers significant advantages while also facing numerous challenges.Among its strengths are a profound cultural foundation in TCM,utilizing classic texts and unique theories to cultivate students’TCM thinking and competence;diversified teaching methods that integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines,innovate instructional models,and combine traditional with modern educational approaches;a complete teaching system characterized by professional faculty and advanced facilities;and interdisciplinary integration fostering innovation.However,problems persist,including some students lacking confidence in TCM culture due to the influence of Western medicine concepts and the westernization of the educational model;weak practical teaching where theory dominates,practice time is limited,and there are insufficient bases and instructors;and a shortage of faculty resulting in an imbalanced student-to-teacher ratio and an unreasonable structure.To address these issues,it is recommended to enhance cultural confidence,strengthen faculty development,and optimize practical teaching,thereby promoting the sustainable development of higher TCM education and achieving the shared prosperity of TCM education and the TCM profession.展开更多

Allopolyploids often exhibit advantages in vigor and adaptability compared to diploids.A long-term goal in the economically important Brassica genus has been to develop a new allohexaploid crop type(AABBCC)by combinin...Allopolyploids often exhibit advantages in vigor and adaptability compared to diploids.A long-term goal in the economically important Brassica genus has been to develop a new allohexaploid crop type(AABBCC)by combining different diploid and allotetraploid crop species.However,early-generation allohexaploids often face challenges like unstable meiosis and low fertility,and the phenotypic performance of these synthetic lines has rarely been assessed.This study analyzes agronomic traits,fertility,and genome stability in ArArBcBcCcCc lines derived from four crosses between B.carinata and B.rapa after 9–11 selfing generations.Our results demonstrate polyploid advantage in vigor and seed traits,considerable phenotypic variation,and high fertility and genome stability.Meanwhile,parental genotypes significantly influence outcomes in advanced allohexaploids.Structural variants,largely resulting from A–C homoeologous exchanges,contribute to genomic variation and influence hexaploid genome stability,with the A sub-genome showing the highest variability.Both positive and negative impacts of SVs on fertility and seed weight are observed.Pseudo-euploids,frequently appearing,do not significantly affect fertility or other agronomic traits compared to euploids,indicating a potential pathway toward a stable allohexaploid species.These findings provide insights into the challenge and potential for developing an adaptable and stable Brassica hexaploid through selection.展开更多

Spacial patterns of the comparative advantages were produced by using GIS software. [Result] Nine provinces Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei, Jiangsu, Hunan, Zhejiang and Guangxi were the dominant regions in watermelon production al over the country. The Central and Eastern China showed the integrated comparative advantage in watermelon production, while the Southern, Northeastern, Northern and Northwestern China can be considered as the potential places for watermelon production in future. Southwest China gave more priority to watermelon production, so the comparative advantages kept increasing here. [Con-clusion] Based on this study, watermelon production should be a prior consideration among the agricultural products in Guangxi. Intercropping of maize(Zea mays L.) and peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) often results in greater yields than the respective sole crops. However, there is limited knowledge of aboveground and belowground interspecific inte...Intercropping of maize(Zea mays L.) and peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) often results in greater yields than the respective sole crops. However, there is limited knowledge of aboveground and belowground interspecific interactions between maize and peanut in field. A two-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of interspecific interactions on plant growth and grain yield for a peanut/maize intercropping system under different nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) levels. The method of root separation was employed to differentiate belowground from aboveground interspecific interactions. We observed that the global interspecific interaction effect on the shoot biomass of the intercropping system decreased with the coexistence period, and belowground interaction contributed more than aboveground interaction to advantages of the intercropping in terms of shoot biomass and grain yield. There was a positive effect from aboveground and belowground interspecific interactions on crop plant growth in the intercropping system, except that aboveground interaction had a negative effect on peanut during the late coexistence period. The advantage of intercropping on grain came mainly from increased maize yield(means 95%) due to aboveground interspecific competition for light and belowground interaction(61%–72% vs. 28%–39% in fertilizer treatments). There was a negative effect on grain yield from aboveground interaction for peanut, but belowground interspecific interaction positively affected peanut grain yield.The supply of N, P, or N + P increased grain yield of intercropped maize and the contribution from aboveground interspecific interaction. Our study suggests that the advantages of peanut/maize intercropping for yield mainly comes from aboveground interspecific competition for maize and belowground interspecific facilitation for peanut, and their respective yield can be enhanced by N and P. These findings are important for managing the intercropping system and optimizing the benefits from using this system.展开更多
