There are rich emergent phase behaviors in non-equilibrium active systems.Flocking and clustering are two representative dynamic phases.The relationship between both the phases is still unclear.Herein,we numerically investigate the evolution of flocking and clustering in a system consisting of self-propelled particles with active reorientation.We consider the interplay between flocking and clustering phases with different initial configurations,and observe a domain in steady state order parameter phase diagrams sensitive to the choice of initial configurations.Specifically,by tuning the initial degree of polar ordering,either a more ordered flocking or a disordered clustering state can be observed in the steady state.These results enlighten us to manipulate emergent behaviors and collective motions of an active system,and are qualitatively different from the emergence of a new bi-stable regime observed in aligned active particles due to an explicit attraction[New J.Phys.14073033(2012)]. 展开更多

This study extends the self-propelled particle(SPP)model by incorporating a limited vision cone and local density sensing.The results reveal that clusters can simultaneously exhibit velocity polarization and spatial cohesion within specific ranges of vision angle and density threshold.The dependence of the dynamical features,including the order parameter and density variation,on the threshold and visual cone is investigated.Furthermore,a critical threshold is identified,which governs the transition between ordered and disordered states and is closely linked to density fluctuations and noise intensity.The clustering results show that the model is explained by the chasing mechanism responsible for cluster formation,density,and shape.These results may stimulate practical applications in swarm maneuvering. 展开更多

The integration of the intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT)has emerged as a cost-effective and efficient solution to enhance the performance of information and energy transfer.In this research,a hybrid active/passive IRS-assisted SWIPT system is proposed.Specifically,an active IRS(AIRS)and a passive IRS(PIRS)are deployed in the SWIPT system to facilitate a multiantenna base station(BS)in simultaneously delivering information and energy to multiple information users(IUs)and energy users(EUs).The objective is to maximize the sum throughput by jointly optimizing the transmitter beamforming and the reflection coefficient matrices of the AIRS and the PIRS while satisfying the transmitter power constraints,the energy harvesting(EH)requirements of EUs,and the AIRS amplification power limitations.However,the optimization variables are highly coupled and cannot be solved directly.To tackle this complex problem,we propose an efficient algorithm based on alternating optimization(AO)and semi-definite relaxation(SDR)techniques to obtain high-quality solutions.Simulation results demonstrate that the hybrid active/passive IRSassisted SWIPT system significantly enhances throughput performance and outperforms benchmark systems. 展开更多

Pump valve pipeline vibration brings serious safety hazards to the operation of the equipment,for the pump valve system in the process of variable flow,variable speed,variable openings lead to excessive pipeline vibration.An active damping device(ADD)is used to the vibration of the pump valve pipeline system to apply the control force,to achieve the active control of the pipeline vibration.A pump-valve pipeline vibration test bench was built to compare the control effect of active damping device on pipeline vibration under different pump valve working conditions,and the results show that applying ADD control could effectively suppress the vibration of the pump valve pipeline and enhance the stability of the equipment during operation.At different pump operating rotation frequencies,the vibration amplitude of the pump valve pipeline in working frequency and its multiple frequencies are also effectively suppressed,with the maximum amplitude reduction of more than 60%.For the valve vibration caused by different operating openings,the vibration of the highest reduction of 68%,and the centrifugal pump drive shaft vi-bration reduced by up to 73%,which provides a new idea for vibration control of pump valve pipeline system. 展开更多

The output feedback active disturbance rejection control of a valve-controlled cylinder electro-hydraulic servo system is investigated in this paper.First,a comprehensive nonlinear mathematical model that encompasses both matched and mismatched disturbances is formulated.Due to the fact that only position information can be measured,a linear Extended State Observer(ESO)is introduced to estimate unknown states and matched disturbances,while a dedicated disturbance observer is constructed to estimate mismatched disturbances.Different from the traditional observer results,the design of the disturbance observer used in this study is carried out under the constraint of output feedback.Furthermore,an output feedback nonlinear controller is proposed leveraging the aforementioned observers to achieve accurate trajectory tracking.To mitigate the inherent differential explosion problem of the traditional backstepping framework,a finite-time stable command filter is incorporated.Simultaneously,considering transient filtering errors,a set of error compensation signals are designed to counter their negative impact effectively.Theoretical analysis affirms that the proposed control strategy ensures the boundedness of all signals within the closed-loop system.Additionally,under the specific condition of only time-invariant disturbances in the system,the conclusion of asymptotic stability is established.Finally,the algorithm’s efficacy is validated through comparative experiments. 展开更多

In this paper,we examine an illegal wireless communication network consisting of an illegal user receiving illegal signals from an illegal station and propose an active reconfigurable intelligent surface(ARIS)-assisted multi-antenna jamming(MAJ)scheme denoted by ARIS-MAJ to interfere with the illegal signal transmission.In order to strike a balance between the jamming performance and the energy consumption,we consider a so-called jamming energy efficiency(JEE)which is defined as the ratio of achievable rate reduced by the jamming system to the corresponding power consumption.We formulate an optimization problem to maximize the JEE for the proposed ARIS-MAJ scheme by jointly optimizing the jammer’s beamforming vector and ARIS’s reflecting coefficients under the constraint that the jamming power received at the illegal user is lower than the illegal user’s detection threshold.To address the non-convex optimization problem,we propose the Dinkelbach-based alternating optimization(AO)algorithm by applying the semidefinite relaxation(SDR)algorithm with Gaussian randomization method.Numerical results validate that the proposed ARIS-MAJ scheme outperforms the passive reconfigurable intelligent surface(PRIS)-assisted multi-antenna jamming(PRIS-MAJ)scheme and the conventional multiantenna jamming scheme without RIS(NRIS-MAJ)in terms of the JEE. 展开更多

The conventional feedforward hybrid active noise control(FFHANC)system combines the advantages of the feedforward narrowband active noise control(FFNANC)system and the feedforward broadband active noise control(FFBANC)system.To enhance its adaptive adjustment capability under frequency mismatch(FM)conditions,this paper introduces a narrowband frequency adaptive estimation module into the conventional FFHANC system.This module integrates an autoregressive(AR)model and a linear cascaded adaptive notch filter(LCANF),enabling accurate reference signal frequency estimation even under significant FM.Furthermore,in order to improve the coherence between narrowband and broadband components in the system’s error signal and its corresponding control filter for the conventional FFHANC system,this paper proposes an algorithm based on autoregressive bandpass filter bank(AR-BPFB)for error separation.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed FFHANC system maintains robust performance under high FM conditions and effectively suppresses hybrid-band noise.The AR-BPFB algorithm significantly elevates the convergence speed of the FFHANC system. 展开更多

Active matter exhibits collective motions at various scales.Geometric confinement has been identified as an effective way to control and manipulate active fluids,with much attention given to external factors.However,the impact of the inherent properties of active particles on collective motion under confined conditions remains elusive.Here,we use a highly tunable active nematics model to study active systems under confinement,focusing on the effect of the self-driven speed of active particles.We identify three distinct states characterized by unique particle and flow fields within confined active nematic systems,among which circular rotation emerges as a collective motion involving rotational movement in both particle and flow fields.The theoretical phase diagram shows that increasing the self-driven speed of active particles significantly enhances the region of the circular rotation state and improves its stability.Our results provide insights into the formation of high quality vortices in confined active nematic systems. 展开更多

Dynamical systems often exhibit multiple attractors representing significantly different functioning conditions.A global map of attraction basins can offer valuable guidance for stabilizing or transitioning system states.Such a map can be constructed without prior system knowledge by identifying attractors across a sufficient number of points in the state space.However,determining the attractor for each initial state can be a laborious task.Here,we tackle the challenge of reconstructing attraction basins using as few initial points as possible.In each iteration of our approach,informative points are selected through random seeding and are driven along the current classification boundary,promoting the eventual selection of points that are both diverse and enlightening.The results across various experimental dynamical systems demonstrate that our approach requires fewer points than baseline methods while achieving comparable mapping accuracy.Additionally,the reconstructed map allows us to accurately estimate the minimum escape distance required to transition the system state to a target basin. 展开更多

As a crucial component of intelligent chassis systems,air suspension significantly enhances driver comfort and vehicle stability.To further improve the adaptability of commercial vehicles to complex and variable road conditions,this paper proposes a linear motor active suspension with quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)air spring system.Firstly,a dynamic model of the linear motor active suspension with QZS air spring system is established.Secondly,considering the random uncertainties in the linear motor parameters due to manufacturing and environmental factors,a dynamic model and state equations incorporating these uncertainties are constructed using the polynomial chaos expansion(PCE)method.Then,based on H_(2) robust control theory and the Kalman filter,a state feedback control law is derived,accounting for the random parameter uncertainties.Finally,simulation and hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)experimental results demonstrate that the PCE-H_(2) robust controller not only provides better performance in terms of vehicle ride comfort compared to general H_(2) robust controller but also exhibits higher robustness to the effects of random uncertain parameters,resulting in more stable control performance. 展开更多

This paper investigates the high-performance control issues of systems affected by time-varying disturbances and measurement noise.Conventionally,active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)is a favorable control strategy to reject unknown disturbances and uncertainties.However,its control performance is limited because standard extended state observer(ESO)struggles to effectively estimate time-varying disturbances.The emergence of high-order ESO(HESO)alleviates the limitation.Unfortunately,it deteriorates the noise suppression capability when the disturbance rejection is enhanced.To tackle this challenge,an improved ADRC with cascade HESO(CHESO)is proposed.A comprehensive theoretical analysis associated with the performance of HESO is given for the first time.The presented analyses provide an intuitive understanding of the performance of HESO.Then,a novel CHESO is developed.The convergence of CHESO is proved via input-to-state stable theory.Extensive frequency domain analyses indicate that CHESO has stronger disturbance rejection and high-frequency noise attenuation performance than ESO and HESO without increasing the observer bandwidth.Comparative simulations conducted on a servo control system validate the effectiveness and preponderance of the proposed method. 展开更多

This paper aims to fuse two well-established and,at the same time,opposed control techniques,namely,model predictive control(MPC)and active disturbance rejection control(ADRC),to develop a dynamic motion controller for a laser beam steering system.The proposed technique uses the ADRC philosophy to lump disturbances and model uncertainties into a total disturbance.Then,the total disturbance is estimated via a discrete extended state disturbance observer(ESO),and it is used to(1)handle the system constraints in a quadratic optimization problem and(2)injected as a feedforward term to the plant to reject the total disturbance,together with the feedback term obtained by the MPC.The main advantage of the proposed approach is that the MPC is designed based on a straightforward integrator-chain model such that a simple convex optimization problem is performed.Several experiments show the real-time closed-loop performance regarding trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection.Owing to simplicity,the self-contained approach MPC+ESO becomes a Frugal MPC,which is computationally economical,adaptable,efficient,resilient,and suitable for applications where on-board computational resources are limited. 展开更多

Active damping(AD)strategy is an economical and efficient method to solve the resonant problem of the permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)drive system with inductor-capacitor(LC)sine wave filter.In this article,the AD methods used in PMSM drive system are classified as inherent damping(ID),state variable feedback,and digital filter.Based on this,the purpose of this article is to provide an overview and analysis of the AD methods on PMSM drive system in recent years,and to comprehensively review,compare,and summarize the stability,dynamic performance,robustness,and algorithm complexity.Furthermore,a new expansion of AD method based on capacitor current feedback with high-pass filter(HPF-CCF)is studied to ensure the effectiveness when the resonant frequency is around sixth of the sampling frequency.The simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of theoretical analysis. 展开更多

In general,bioassay-guided fractionation and isolation of bioactive constituents from botanical materials frequently ended up with the reward of a single compound.However,botanical materials typically exert their therapeutic actions through multi-pathway effects due to the intrinsic complex nature of chemical constituents.In addition,the content of bioactive compounds in botanical materials is largely dependent on humidity,temperature,soil,especially geographical origins,from which rapid and accurate identification of plant materials is pressingly needed.These long-standing obstacles collectively impede the deep exploi-tation and application of these versatile natural sources.To address the challenges,a new paradigm inte-grating biogravimetric analyses and machine learning-driven origin classification(BAMLOC)was developed.The biogravimetric analyses are based on absolute qHNMR quantification and in vivo zebrafish model-assisted activity index calculation,by which bioactive substance groups jointly responsible for the bioactivities in all fractions are pinpointed before any isolation effort.To differentiate origin-different botanical materials varying in the content of bioactive substance groups,principal component analysis,linear discriminant analysis,and hierarchical cluster analysis in conjunction with supervised support vector machine are employed to classify and predict production areas based on the detection of volatile organic compounds by E-nose and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).Expanding BAMLOC to Codonopsis Radix enables the identification of polyacetylenes and pyrrolidine alkaloids as the bioactive substance group for immune restoration effect and accurately determines the origins of plants.This study advances the toolbox for the discovery of bioactive compounds from complex mixtures and lays a more definitive foundation for the in-depth utilization of botanical materials. 展开更多
