Embraced within the framework of crime opportunities integrated with Social Disorganization theory and Broken Windows theory,this paper intends to explore the patterns of four types of acquisitive crimes,using social media data,i.e.,Twitter,Foursquare and cross-sectional data acquired through text analysis technique.With Greater London as the study area,models like negative binominal regression(NBR)and geographically weighted regression(GWR)are performed to illustrate the aggregated relationships between acquisitive crimes and crime opportunities at London-wide and sub-regional MSOAs levels respectively.The results work towards to hypotheses that:the tweets sentiment could reflect property-related crime rates positively in light of Broken Windows Theory;more tweets with negative sentiment may incur increases in acquisitive crimes.It contributed to existing studies in(1)providing empirical evidence for integrating these three theories;(2)complementing current research on local discrepancies of acquisitive crimes by utilising both GWR and NBR models;(3)challenging the traditional stereotypes about racial disparities with the finding that ethnic heterogeneity and instrumental crimes have counterintuitive association,especially taking education factor into consideration;(4)implicating some localised acquisitive crime prevention strategies to policy makers in light of the reality that the relationship between local variations and different crime types may vary by place. 展开更多

This study examines whether and how cues focusing enhances Chinese-speaking English learners’engagement in comparison,thereby facilitating their acquisition of English articles within xu-based comparative continuation writing tasks.Fifty English majors from a Chinese university were randomly assigned to three groups and each group was required to complete a comparative continuation task with one of three conditions:paired cues(cues presented in pairs),randomized cues(cues presented in random order),or implicit cues(no explicit cues provided).All participants undertook pretests,posttests,and delayed tests on English article knowledge,and ten of them volunteered to take follow-up interviews.The results indicate that:1)paired cues were more effective than randomized or implicit cues in promoting the acquisition of English articles;and 2)learners in the paired cues condition produced more target-like article usage in their continuation writings compared to those in the other two conditions.The effectiveness of paired cues is attributed to an enhanced contrast effect,which prompts learners to identify similarities and differences between cues within each pair,relates cue explanations and examples with actual article usage in the reading text,and reflects upon and compares their own article productions against those in the provided reading text.The study concludes that the process of learning through continuation is fundamentally supported by learners’capacity for comparison,reinforcing its role as a core element of xu-competence. 展开更多

While the Ordos Basin is recognized for its substantial hydrocarbon exploration prospects,its rugged loess tableland terrain has rendered seismic exploration exceptionally challenging[1-3].Persistent obstacles such as complex 3D survey planning,low signal-tonoise ratio raw data,inadequate near-surface velocity modeling,and imaging inaccuracy have long hindered the advancement of seismic exploration across this region.Through a problem-solving approach rooted in geological target analysis,this research systematically investigates the behavioral patterns of nodal seismometer-based high-density seismic acquisition in loess plateau.Tailored advancements in waveform enhancement and depth velocity modelling methodologies have been engineered.Field validations confirm that the optimized workflow demonstrates marked improvements in amplitude preservation and imaging resolution,offering novel insights for future reservoir characterization endeavors. 展开更多

Purpose-With the deepening integration of rail transit systems-encompassing urban rail,regional railways,trunk lines and medium-low capacity transportation-the four-network integration imposes higher demands on operation and maintenance systems regarding cross-modal coordination,full-element interconnectivity and dynamic responsiveness.Design/methodology/approach-This paper,based on policy directives and engineering practices,analyzes the operational maintenance characteristics of urban rail traction systems from perspectives including device interconnectivity and fault data mining.A non-intrusive high-frequency diagnostic device independent of vehicle control is proposed,informed by practical onboard operation experience.This innovation significantly enhances diagnostic accuracy for components requiring high sampling frequency,while integrating“Flash”storage with far greater capacity than conventional control chips.Findings-This article will systematically introduces the key points and diagnostic methods for typical faults in urban rail traction systems.Through rational diagnostic algorithms combined with high-precision,highstorage diagnostic instrumentation,the overall safety and reliability of urban rail traction systems have been improved.The proposed non-intrusive high-frequency diagnostic solution has been validated across multiple rail lines.Originality/value-This paper introduces an innovative non-intrusive diagnostic device with a dual-channel design for multi-system compatibility and a high-speed acquisition architecture enabling 400 kHz sampling.Its originality stems from the independent,high-fidelity capture of microsecond-level transient faults like IGBT shoot-through and pantograph arcing;Validated in operational environments,this approach provides a significant leap in diagnostic precision,directly enhancing traction system availability and operational safety by enabling precise fault localization and intelligent,adaptive protection strategies. 展开更多

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for crop growth,making it important for maintaining food security as the global population continues to increase.Plants acquire P primarily via the uptake of inorganic phosphate(Pi)in soil through their roots.Pi,which is usually sequestered in soils,is not easily absorbed by plants and represses plant growth.Plants have developed a series of mechanisms to cope with P deficiency.Moreover,P fertilizer applications are critical for maximizing crop yield.Maize is a major cereal crop cultivated worldwide.Increasing its P-use efficiency is important for optimizing maize production.Over the past two decades,considerable progresses have been achieved in studies aimed at adapting maize varieties to changes in environmental P supply.Here,we present an overview of the morphological,physiological,and molecular mechanisms involved in P acquisition,translocation,and redistribution in maize and combine the advances in Arabidopsis and rice,to better elucidate the progress of P nutrition.Additionally,we summarize the correlation between P and abiotic stress responses.Clarifying the mechanisms relevant to improving P absorption and use in maize can guide future research on sustainable agriculture. 展开更多

Land use transformations in Sonipat District,Haryana,driven by urbanization,industrialization,and land acquisitions,have posed significant ecological and socio-economic challenges,particularly concerning food security.This study investigates the interplay between these land use changes and their environmental implications at macro(district)and micro(village)levels,focusing on agricultural productivity and resource sustainability.The study employs a mixed-method approach,integrating secondary data from official datasets and primary data gathered through structured household surveys,focus group discussions,and visual analysis techniques.Data from 20 villages,selected based on predominant land use characteristics,were analysed using statistical and geospatial tools,including ArcGIS and STATA,to quantify food grain losses and evaluate environmental degradation.Findings of this study reveal a 19%reduction in agricultural land over two decades(2000-2024),correlating with increased residential and industrial areas.Groundwater resources face severe overexploitation,with pollution from industrial clusters further degrading water and soil quality.The study estimates a total food grain loss of 1.5 million kilograms across surveyed villages due to land acquisitions.A strong positive correlation(R^(2)=0.98)between land acquisition and food loss underscores the direct impact of urbanization on agricultural output.The research underscores the urgency of sustainable land management practices,including preserving agricultural lands,optimizing groundwater usage,and enhancing community involvement in planning.By addressing these challenges,the study advocates for balanced urban expansion and food security to ensure ecological and economic resilience in the region. 展开更多

The seismic data of the Laoshan Uplift in the South Yellow Sea Basin reveal a low signal-tonoise ratio and low refl ection signal energy in the deep Mesozoic–Paleozoic strata.The main reason is that the Mesozoic-Paleozoic marine carbonate rock strata are directly covered by the Cenozoic terrestrial clastic rock strata,which form a strong shielding layer.To obtain the reflection signals of the strata below the strong shielding layer,a one-way wave equation bidirectional illumination analysis of the main observation system parameters was conducted by analyzing the mechanism of the strong shielding layer.Low-frequency seismic sources are assumed to have a high illumination intensity on the reflection layer below the strong shielding layer.Accordingly,optimized acquisition parameter suggestions were proposed,and reacquisition was performed at the existing survey line locations in the Laoshan Uplift area.The imaging of the newly acquired data in the middle and deep layers was drastically improved.It revealed the unconformity between the Sinian and Cambrian under the strong shielding layer.The study yielded new insights into the tectonic and sedimentary evolution of the Lower Paleozoic in the South Yellow Sea. 展开更多

To meet the demand for intelligent and unmanned development in thermal power plants,an intelligent inspection system has been designed.This system efficiently performs inspection tasks and monitors the operational parameters of key equipment in real-time.The collected data is uploaded to the monitoring center,allowing operation and maintenance personnel to access equipment information promptly.Data analysis is used to provide fault warning and diagnosis for critical equipment.The system employs the Pure Pursuit algorithm,which effectively avoids obstacles and ensures path continuity and stability.Simulation results show that the Pure Pursuit algorithm significantly improves the navigation accuracy and task efficiency of the inspection robot,ensuring the reliability of thermal power plant inspections. 展开更多

With the continued expansion of oil and gas exploration,both in the eastern and western regions,the quality of seismic acquisition has become a key factor in oil and gas exploration in complex areas.However,conventional seismic acquisition methods cannot efficiently avoid challenging acquisition locations and produce high-quality seismic data.In this regard,based on the curvelet transform,this paper proposes an irregular seismic acquisition method,which utilizes the high-precision characteristics of the curvelet transform and simulated annealing algorithm to establish a method for the evaluation of the coherence of irregular sampling matrices and design of observation systems.The method was verified using forward simulation and actual acquisition data.The results suggest the superior quality of seismic data gathered in complicated areas through this method over those acquired using traditional methods,which can provide technical guidance for the design of observation systems in complex areas. 展开更多

This article introduces a cable-free real-time telemetry seismic acquisition system(hereinafter referred to as the cable-free real-time telemetry system)that utilizes 4G/5G technology.This system facilitates the real-time acquisition and quality control of seismic data,the real-time monitoring of equipment location and health status,the synchronous transmission of collected data between the cloud and client,and the real-time issuance of operational instructions.It addresses the critical limitation of existing seismic node equipment,which is often restricted to mining and blind storage due to the absence of a wired or wireless communication link between the acquisition node device and the central control unit.This limitation necessitates local data storage and rendering real-time quality control unfeasible.Typically,quality control is conducted post-task completion,requiring the overall retrieval and downloading of data.If data issues are identifi ed,it becomes necessary to eliminate faulty tracks and determine the need for supplementary acquisition,which can lead to delays in the acquisition process.The implementation of real-time monitoring and early warning systems for equipment health status aims to mitigate the risk of poor data quality resulting from equipment anomalies.Furthermore,the real-time synchronous transmission between the cloud and server addresses the bottleneck of slow download speeds associated with the centralized retrieval of data from multiple node devices during blind acquisition and storage.A real-time microseismic data acquisition test and verifi cation were conducted at a fracturing site in an eastern oil and gas fi eld.Analysis of the test data indicates that the overall performance indicators of the system are comparable to those of existing mainstream system equipment,demonstrating stability and reliability.The performance parameters fully satisfy the technical requirements for oilfield fracturing monitoring scenarios,suggesting promising prospects for further promotion and application. 展开更多

Deblending by sparse inversion and its applications to high-productivity seismic acquisition:Case studies

Deblending is a data processing procedure used to separate the source interferences of blended seismic data,which are obtained by simultaneous sources with random time delays to reduce the cost of seismic acquisition.There are three types of deblending algorithms,i.e.,filtering-type noise suppression algorithm,inversion-based algorithm and deep-learning based algorithm.We review the merits of these techniques,and propose to use a sparse inversion method for seismic data deblending.Filtering-based deblending approach is applicable to blended data with a low blending fold and simple geometry.Otherwise,it can suffer from signal distortion and noise leakage.At present,the deep learning based deblending methods are still under development and field data applications are limited due to the lack of high-quality training labels.In contrast,the inversion-based deblending approaches have gained industrial acceptance.Our used inversion approach transforms the pseudo-deblended data into the frequency-wavenumber-wavenumher(FKK)domain,and a sparse constraint is imposed for the coherent signal estimation.The estimated signal is used to predict the interference noise for subtraction from the original pseudo-deblended data.Via minimizing the data misfit,the signal can be iteratively updated with a shrinking threshold until the signal and interference are fully separated.The used FKK sparse inversion algorithm is very accurate and efficient compared with other sparse inversion methods,and it is widely applied in field cases.Synthetic example shows that the deblending error is less than 1%in average amplitudes and less than-40 dB in amplitude spectra.We present three field data examples of land,marine OBN(Ocean Bottom Nodes)and streamer acquisitions to demonstrate its successful applications in separating the source interferences efficiently and accurately. 展开更多

Mergers and acquisitions(M&A)with financial technology(fintech)companies can be an effective way for firms to obtain new technologies and capabilities.However,the market reaction to fintech M&A announcements has received limited attention in the empirical academic literature.This study assesses the impact of fintech M&As on stock returns and examines whether macroeconomic variables influence the abnormal return of fintech M&As.Using event study analysis,we found that fintech M&A announcements generate a significant positive short-term abnormal return.Furthermore,we demonstrated that macroeconomic parameters,including Gross domestic product(GDP)growth,inflation rate,the share of services in GDP,and aggregate export growth,positively affect abnormal returns.In contrast,private investment,consumer spending,and an economy’s size negatively influence fintech M&As’abnormal returns. 展开更多

The paper aims to examine the application of multimedia technology in expanding vocabulary in second language acquisition.Incorporating innovative technology such as mobile applications,gaming applications,websites,and other related online tools has increased learners’vocabulary mastery,engagement,and motivation levels.Interactional processes like media-embedded objects,teach-learning capacity algorithms,and feedback help learners receive the course in a personalized way that considers individual learning patterns or abilities.However,there are the following challenges:accessibility issues,total reliance on technology,and issues related to privacy.The following challenges affecting learning that arise from using gadgets:the digital divide,limited device access,and environmental issues that may distract a learner in a technology-enabled environment.Moreover,the security issue for data and the ethical question of users’information remain important too.Hence,the paper provides arguments that although these technologies contribute significantly to vocabulary acquisition,the challenge that emerges should be addressed by integrating technology in teaching and learning alongside conventional methods for vocabulary acquisition,which is a practical language acquisition tool that should not be monopolized. 展开更多
