However, the scaling process of elastic rings introduces complexities in multi-parameter geometric distortions, leading to a diminution in the predictive accuracy of the distorted similitude. To address this challenge, this study formulates a novel set of scaling laws, tailored to account for the intricate geometric distortions associated with elastic rings. The proposed scaling laws are formulated based on the intrinsic deformation characteristics of elastic rings, rather than the traditional systemic governing equations. Numerical and experimental cases are conducted to assess the efficacy and precision of the proposed scaling laws, and the obtained results are compared with those achieved by traditional methods. The outcomes demonstrate that the scaling laws put forth by this study significantly enhance the predictive capabilities for deformations of elastic rings.展开更多

文摘This study presents an effective hybrid simulation approach for simulating broadband ground motion in complex near-fault locations. The approach utilizes a deterministic approach based on the spectral element method(SEM),which is used to simulate low-frequency ground motion(f<1 Hz)by incorporating an innovative efficient discontinuous Galerkin(DG)method for grid division to accurately model basin sedimentary layers at reduced costs. It also introduces a comprehensive hybrid source model for high-frequency random scattering and a nonlinear analysis module for basin sedimentary layers.Deterministic outcomes are combined with modified three-dimensional stochastic finite fault method(3D-EXSIM)simulations of high-frequency ground motion(f>1 Hz).A fourth-order Butterworth filter with zero phase shift is employed for time-domain filtering of low-and high-frequency time series at a crossover frequency of 1 Hz,merging the low and high-frequency ground motions into a broadband time series.Taking an Ms 6.8 Luding earthquake,as an example, this hybrid method was used for a rapid and efficient simulation analysis of broadband ground motion in the region. The accuracy and efficiency of this hybrid method were verified through comparisons with actually observed station data and empirical attenuation curves.Deterministic method simulation results revealed the effects of mountainous topography, basin effects, nonlinear effects within the basin’s sedimentary layers, and a coupling interaction between the basin and the mountains. The findings are consistent with similar studies, showing that near-fault sedimentary basins significantly focus and amplify strong ground motion, and the soil’s nonlinear behavior in the basin influences ground motion to varying extents at different distances from the fault. The mountainous topography impacts the basin’s response to ground motion, leading to barrier effects. This research provides a scientific foundation for seismic zoning, urban planning, and seismic design in nearfault mountain basin regions.
文摘In modern ZnO varistors, traditional aging mechanisms based on increased power consumption are no longer relevant due to reduced power consumption during DC aging.Prolonged exposure to both AC and DC voltages results in increased leakage current, decreased breakdown voltage, and lower nonlinearity, ultimately compromising their protective performance. To investigate the evolution in electrical properties during DC aging, this work developed a finite element model based on Voronoi networks and conducted accelerated aging tests on commercial varistors.Throughout the aging process,current-voltage characteristics and Schottky barrier parameters were measured and analyzed. The results indicate that when subjected to constant voltage, current flows through regions with larger grain sizes, forming discharge channels. As aging progresses, the current focus increases on these channels, leading to a decline in the varistor’s overall performance.Furthermore, analysis of the Schottky barrier parameters shows that the changes in electrical performance during aging are non-monotonic.These findings offer theoretical support for understanding the aging mechanisms and condition assessment of modern stable ZnO varistors.

文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to establish a quantitative assessment method for the textural quality of chieh-qua fruit.[Methods]Using two modes of a texture analyzer, namely TPA(texture profile analysis)and puncture, the index data of the fruit were obtained by setting different trigger forces, deformation levels, test speeds,as well as puncture speeds and puncture depths. The data included TPA hardness, adhesiveness, springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess, chewiness, resilience,as well as skin hardness, skin toughness, flesh hardness, fracturability, and compactness.[Results]Different deformation levels had a significant impact on all parameters.Hardness, adhesiveness, gumminess and chewiness showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the deformation level increasing. When the deformation level was 30%,the adhesiveness, gumminess and chewiness reached their maximum values. When the deformation level was 50%,TPA hardness reached its maximum. When the compression speed was 3 mm/s,the measured values of TPA hardness, adhesiveness, chewiness, and resilience were at their maximums. The skin hardness varied significantly under different trigger forces. When the trigger force was 15 g,the skin hardness reached a maximum value of 944.63 g,and the skin toughness, flesh hardness, fracturability, and compactness also reach their maximum values respectively. When the puncture depth was 12 mm,the flesh hardness and skin toughness reached their maximums of 682.51 g and 1.82 mm,respectively. In the TPA mode, the flesh hardness of chieh-qua showed an extremely significant negative correlation with springiness, cohesiveness, and resilience(P<0.01).The fruit fracturability detected by puncture had an extremely significant positive correlation with compactness(P<0.01).[Conclusions]The evaluation method for measuring chieh-qua texture by combining TPA and the puncture mode could accurately and quantitatively reflect the differences in the flesh texture quality of chieh-qua.The optimal parameters for texture measurement of chieh-qua fruit were determined as a 15 g trigger force with 50%deformation and a 3 mm/s compression speed in TPA mode, and a 15 g trigger force with a 12 mm puncture depth in puncture mode.Puncture speed was found to have no significant effect on the texture indices of chieh-qua.

文摘The testing of large structures is limited by high costs and long cycles, making scaling methods an attractive solution. The outcomes demonstrate that the scaling laws put forth by this study significantly enhance the predictive capabilities for deformations of elastic rings.

文摘This study presents an implicit multiphysics coupling method integrating Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD),the Multiphase Particle-in-Cell(MPPIC)model,and the Finite Element Method(FEM),implemented with OpenFOAM,CalculiX,and preCICE to simulate fluid-particle-structure interactions with large deformations.Mesh motion in the fluid field is handled using the radial basis function(RBF)method. The particle phase is modeled by MPPIC,where fluid-particle interaction is described through momentum exchange, and inter-particle collisions are characterized by collision stress. The structural field is solved by nonlinear FEM to capture large deformations induced by geometric nonlinearity.Coupling among fields is realized through a partitioned, parallel, and non-intrusive iterative strategy, ensuring stable transfer and convergence of interface forces and displacements.Notably, the influence of particles on the structure is not direct but mediated by the fluid, while structural motion directly affects particle dynamics. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach effectively captures multiphysics interaction processes and provides a valuable reference for numerical modeling of coupled fluid-particle-structure systems.

文摘To address the problems of low accuracy by the CONWEP model and poor efficiency by the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian(CEL)method in predicting close-range air blast loads of cylindrical charges,a neural network-based simulation(NNS)method with higher accuracy and better efficiency was proposed. The NNS method consisted of three main steps.First, the parameters of blast loads, including the peak pressures and impulses of cylindrical charges with different aspect ratios(L/D)at different stand-off distances and incident angles were obtained by two-dimensional numerical simulations.Subsequently, incident shape factors of cylindrical charges with arbitrary aspect ratios were predicted by a neural network. Finally, reflected shape factors were derived and implemented into the subroutine of the ABAQUS code to modify the CONWEP model, including modifications of impulse and overpressure. The reliability of the proposed NNS method was verified by related experimental results.Remarkable accuracy improvement was acquired by the proposed NNS method compared with the unmodified CONWEP model. Moreover, huge efficiency superiority was obtained by the proposed NNS method compared with the CEL method. The proposed NNS method showed good accuracy when the scaled distance was greater than 0.2 m/kg^(1/3).It should be noted that there is no need to generate a new dataset again since the blast loads satisfy the similarity law,and the proposed NNS method can be directly used to simulate the blast loads generated by different cylindrical charges. The proposed NNS method with high efficiency and accuracy can be used as an effective method to analyze the dynamic response of structures under blast loads, and it has significant application prospects in designing protective structures.

文摘Rock slope instability is a prevalent geological hazard that imposes significant adverse impacts on engineering activities.Although existing studies have focused on homogeneous rock slopes, the theoretical models for quantifying the stability of softhard interbedded anti-inclined slopes remain underdeveloped, primarily due to the complex force transfer mechanisms involved. This study proposed a novel theoretical model for the stability analysis of soft-hard interbedded anti-inclined slopes under rainfall conditions. The framework models stratified rock layers as layered cantilever beams with material heterogeneity.Based on the principle of deformation compatibility,it comprehensively accounted for interlayer force transfer and strength degradation resulting from differential deformations among rock layers.Furthermore,it integrated the critical instability length induced by the self-weight of rock layers to determine the fracture depth. The proposed method was validated against engineering case studies and physical model tests, with error falling within an acceptable range.Compared to existing theoretical methods, the proposed method provided a more realistic representation of the slope's stress field. The analysis results demonstrate that rainfall not only reduces the inclination angle of the failure surface but also leads to an approximate 30%decrease in the safety factor. The proposed theoretical model is particularly useful for quickly calculating the stability of soft-hard interbedded anti-inclined rock slope under rainfall conditions, compared to complex and time-consuming numerical simulation calculations.

文摘As binary geological media,soil-rock mixtures(SRMs)exhibit a distinct gradational composition, leading to their unique mechanical behaviors. To appraise the stability of SRM slopes,it is essential to determine equivalent parameters of SRMs,which are typically obtained through experimental and numerical methods. In contrasted to other numerical methods, the numerical manifold method(NMM)is more effective in addressing SRM problems. This is because the high-precision regular mathematical meshes in NMM can be used without aligning with the soil-rock interfaces and boundaries of SRMs.In the current research, the equivalent strength parameters of SRMs,i.e.the equivalent cohesion ce and internal friction angleϕ_(e),are determined using NMM.Initially,an NMM triaxial numerical model is established and validated based on triaxial experiments.Subsequently, the soil and rock parameters are derived through parameter inversion. Moreover, the impacts of rock content, size, shape and rock blocks'major-axis orientation on ce andϕ_(e) of SRMs are thoroughly examined using the NMM triaxial numerical model.Additionally,a fitting function is proposed to linkϕ_(e) to the rock content and size of SRMs.When other influencing factors are fixed, the above fitting model leads to the following conclusions:(1)the predictedϕ_(e) of SRMs increase with the increase of rock content;and(2)SRM samples with smaller rocks display a higher predictedϕ_(e).

文摘Uncertain parameters are widespread in engineering systems. This study investigates the modal analysis of a fluid-conveying pipe subjected to elastic supports with unknown-but-bound parameters. The governing equation for the elastically supported fluid-conveying pipe is transformed into ordinary differential equations using the Galerkin truncation method. The Chebyshev interval approach, integrated with the assumed mode method is then used to investigate the effects of uncertainties of support stiffness, fluid speed, and pipe length on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the pipe.Additionally, both symmetrical and asymmetrical support stiffnesses are discussed. The accuracy and effectiveness of the Chebyshev interval approach are verified through comparison with the Monte Carlo method. The results reveal that, for the same deviation coefficient, uncertainties in symmetrical support stiffness have a greater impact on the first four natural frequencies than those of the asymmetrical one. There may be significant differences in the sensitivity of natural frequencies and mode shapes of the same order to uncertain parameters.Notably, mode shapes susceptible to uncertain parameters exhibit wider fluctuation intervals near the elastic supports, requiring more attention.

文摘Modern intrusion detection systems(MIDS)face persistent challenges in coping with the rapid evolution of cyber threats,high-volume network traffic, and imbalanced datasets.Traditional models often lack the robustness and explainability required to detect novel and sophisticated attacks effectively. This study introduces an advanced, explainable machine learning framework for multi-class IDS using the KDD99 and IDS datasets, which reflects real-world network behavior through a blend of normal and diverse attack classes. The methodology begins with sophisticated data preprocessing, incorporating both RobustScaler and QuantileTransformer to address outliers and skewed feature distributions, ensuring standardized and model-ready inputs.Critical dimensionality reduction is achieved via the Harris Hawks Optimization(HHO)algorithm—a nature-inspired metaheuristic modeled on hawks’hunting strategies.HHO efficiently identifies the most informative features by optimizing a fitness function based on classification performance.Following feature selection, the SMOTE is applied to the training data to resolve class imbalance by synthetically augmenting underrepresented attack types. The stacked architecture is then employed, combining the strengths of XGBoost,SVM,and RF as base learners. This layered approach improves prediction robustness and generalization by balancing bias and variance across diverse classifiers. The model was evaluated using standard classification metrics:precision,recall,F1-score,and overall accuracy. The best overall performance was recorded with an accuracy of 99.44%for UNSW-NB15,demonstrating the model’s effectiveness. After balancing, the model demonstrated a clear improvement in detecting the attacks. We tested the model on four datasets to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach and performed the ablation study to check the effect of each parameter. Also, the proposed model is computationaly efficient. To support transparency and trust in decision-making,explainable AI(XAI)techniques are incorporated that provides both global and local insight into feature contributions, and offers intuitive visualizations for individual predictions. This makes it suitable for practical deployment in cybersecurity environments that demand both precision and accountability.

文摘The mechanical performance of exceedingly soft materials such as Ag is significantly influenced by various working conditions. Therefore, this study systematically investigates the effects of crack geometry, substrate crystal orientation, and indenter shape on crack propagation. The mechanical response of Ag is analyzed using the quasi-continuum(QC)method.A pre-crack with a predefined depth and angle was introduced to initiate fracture behavior. The results show that when the pre-crack height is 50 A,the crack propagates rapidly as the imprint depth increases from0 to 7 A,grows steadily up to 15 A,and then accelerates sharply between 15 and 20 A.For other pre-crack heights, crack propagation occurs at a relatively faster rate.Substrates with[100],[010],and[001]crystal orientations promote crack extension, while the onset of plastic deformation(referred to as the yield point in this study)and the fracture strength both increase with increasing pre-crack height. The yield point, fracture strength, and stress intensity factors are highly sensitive to the pre-crack height. When the pre-crack angle is 90○,the fracture strength reaches its maximum of 0.2%higher than that of the uncracked sample-whereas at 0○,it reaches its minimum, still 53.8%higher than that of the uncracked sample. The sample model is conducted using AutoCAD software. The optimized quasicontinuum(QC)method is used to investigate the effects of different crack geometries, substrate crystal orientations, and indenter shapes on the crack extension of Ag material.Baskes and Dow(FBD)potential is borrowed to describe the interaction forces between Ag-Ag,Ni-Ag,and Ni-Ni.

文摘In order to explore the effects of CaO,lignite dust and sawdust on the drying characteristics ofmunicipal sludge at different concentrations,a three-factor three-level regression experiment was carried out based on the results of thermogravimetric experiment and single factor experiment.By fitting three common mathematical models, the Page model with the highest fitting degree was selected to determine the most suitable mathematical model to describe the municipal sludge drying process. In addition, the Box-Behnken design principle in the response surface method was used to analyze the interaction of three factors on the drying characteristics of municipal sludge. The results of the study show that below 100℃is the optimal drying temperature range for municipal sludge. The results of single factor experiments showed that the order of influence of the three factors on sludge drying time was CaO concentration>sawdust concentration>lignite dust concentration. In the single factor experiment, the optimal process parameterswere CaOconcentration 3%,lignite powder concentration 7%,and sawdust concentration 7%.In themulti-factor interaction analysis, the interaction between CaO and sawdust had the most significant effect on the reduction of drying time, and the order of influence was as follows:CaO interaction with sawdust>lignite dust interaction with sawdust>CaO interaction with lignite powder.Further analysis showed that the optimal process ratio was 3%CaO concentration and 3%sawdust concentration.

文摘This paper develops a semi-analytical solution for pile penetration in natural soft clays using the strain path method(SPM).The stress-strain behavior of soils is characterized by the S-CLAY1S model, which can capture the anisotropic evolution and destructuring nature of soft clays.By integrating the S-CLAY1S model into the theoretical framework of the SPM,a set of ordinary differential equations is formulated with respect to the vertical coordinate of soil particles. The distribution of excess pore water pressure(EPWP)following pile installation is approximated through one-dimensional(1D)radial integration around the pile shaft. The distribution of stresses and EPWP,along with the evolution of fabric anisotropy within the soil surrounding the pile,is presented to illustrate the response of pile penetration in natural soft clays. The proposed solution is validated against existing theoretical solutions using the SPM and cavity expansion method(CEM),along with experimental data. The findings demonstrate that the SPM reveals lower radial effective stresses and EPWP at the pile shaft than that of CEM.Pile penetration alters the soil's anisotropic properties, inducing rotational hardening and affecting post-installation stress distribution.Soil destructuration eliminates bonding among particles near the pile, resulting in a complete disruption of soil structure at the pile surface, which is particularly pronounced for higher initial soil structure ratios.Minimal variation was observed in the three principal stresses and shear stress on the cone side surface as the angle increased from 18°to 60°,except for a slight reduction in EPWP.

文摘In this paper,a novel method for investigating the particle-crushing behavior of breeding particles in a fusion blanket is proposed. The fractal theory and Weibull distribution are combined to establish a theoretical model, and its validity was verified using a simple impact test.A crushable discrete element method(DEM)framework is built based on the previously established theoretical model. The tensile strength, which considers the fractal theory, size effect, and Weibull variation, was assigned to each generated particle. The assigned strength is then used for crush detection by comparing it with its maximum tensile stress.Mass conservation is ensured by inserting a series of sub-particles whose total mass was equal to the quality loss.Based on the crushable DEM framework,a numerical simulation of the crushing behavior of a pebble bed with hollow cylindrical geometry under a uniaxial compression test was performed. The results of this investigation showed that the particle withstands the external load by contact and sliding at the beginning of the compression process, and the results confirmed that crushing can be considered an important method of resisting the increasing external load.A relatively regular particle arrangement aids in resisting the load and reduces the occurrence of particle crushing. However,a limit exists to the promotion of resistance. When the strain increases beyond this limit, the distribution of the crushing position tends to be isotropic over the entire pebble bed.The theoretical model and crushable DEM framework provide a new method for exploring the pebble bed in a fusion reactor, considering particle crushing.
