Cathodic Protection system is an efficient system used for protecting the underground metal objects from corrosion. In this paper the use of Cathodic Protection (CP) system and how they can be developed to simulate corrosion control solution was illustrated. The aim of developing a Cathodic Protection system is to provide control over oil pipelines and to reduce the incidence of corrosion. The proposed system integrates the technology of wireless sensor Network (WSN) in order to collect potential data and to realize remote data transmission. In this system each WSN receives the data from the environment and forwards it to a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU). Then each RTU forwards it to its base station (BS). In this work Labview 2010 program was used, due to its high potentials. In addition it contains a Tool Kit that supports the wireless sensor network. In this simulation used many cases study to test and monitoring data and get optimum results, least time delay and high speed to prevent corrosion. 展开更多

Utilizing satellite imagery and aerial data, remote sensing allows researchers to assess the health and extent of mangrove forests over large areas and time periods, providing insights into changes due to environmental stressors like climate change, urbanization, and deforestation. Coupled with web-based platforms, this technology facilitates real-time data sharing and collaborative research efforts among scientists, policymakers, and conservationists. Thus, there is a need to grow this research interest among experts working in this kind of ecosystem. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review on the effective role of remote sensing and web-based platform in monitoring mangrove ecosystem. The research paper utilized the thematic approach to extract specific information to use in the discussion which helped realize the efficiency of digital monitoring for the environment. Web-based platforms and remote sensing represent a powerful tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in the context of forest ecosystems. They facilitate the accessibility of vital data, promote collaboration among stakeholders, support evidence-based policymaking, and engage communities in conservation efforts. Wireless remote spatiotemporal monitoring of high-fill foundation deformation

The spatial and temporal deformation patterns and deformation control indicators of highfill foundations directly affect the design,construction and operational safety of high-fill projects.In situ monitoring can comprehensively reflect the deformation of high-fill during and after construction.In this paper,we have first designed and installed an integrated wireless remote monitoring system for high-fill to achieve real-time dynamic monitoring of settlement,pore water pressure and soil pressure of the fill foundation.Based on the monitoring results of nearly one year of the construction period and two years after construction,it was found that the deformation amount and deformation rate of the high-fill foundation showed a non-linear growth relationship with the filling rate and filling height.The settlement deformation of the high-fill foundation during the loading period was mainly dominated by the original foundation soil,accounting for 54.4%of the total settlement on average;the settlement deformation during the post-construction period was mainly dominated by the filling body,accounting for 77.04%of the total settlement on average,and the settlement deformation during the post-construction period mainly occurred in the first year after construction.The analysis of the deformation mechanism suggests that the deformation of the filling body is dominated by exhaust consolidation during the loading period and drainage consolidation during the post-construction period;the deformation of the original foundation soil is dominated by drainage consolidation during the loading period and drainage consolidation develops slowly during the post-construction period.It is recommended that the original foundation should be reinforced before the large area filling construction,and that the filling rate should be strictly controlled during construction.The research results can provide a scientific basis for deformation calculation and stability assessment of high-fill foundations. 展开更多

This paper aims to study a novel smart self-powered wireless lightweight (SPWL) bridge health monitoring sensor, which integrates key technologies such as large-scale, low-power wireless data transmission, environmental energy self-harvesting, and intelligent perception, and can operate stably for a long time in complex and changing environments. The self-powered system of the sensor can meet the needs of long-term bridge service performance monitoring, significantly improving the coverage and efficiency of monitoring. By optimizing the sensor system design, the maximum energy conversion of the energy harvesting unit is achieved. In order to verify the function and practicality of the new SPWL monitoring sensor, this study combined the actual bridge engineering, carried out a bridge monitoring case study, and developed an SPWL monitoring scheme based on the bridge structure principle. Compared with traditional monitoring methods, this technology significantly improves the sustainability and performance of infrastructure monitoring based on the new SPWL sensor, fully demonstrating the excellent monitoring capabilities of this type of sensor, and providing strong support for the development of intelligent transportation and intelligent infrastructure. 展开更多

Recent advancements in passive wireless sensor technology have significantly extended the application scope of sensing,particularly in challenging environments for monitoring industry and healthcare applications.These systems are equipped with battery-free operation,wireless connectivity,and are designed to be both miniaturized and lightweight.Such features enable the safe,real-time monitoring of industrial environments and support high-precision physiological measurements in confined internal body spaces and on wearable epidermal devices.Despite the exploration into diverse application environments,the development of a systematic and comprehensive research framework for system architecture remains elusive,which hampers further optimization of these systems.This review,therefore,begins with an examination of application scenarios,progresses to evaluate current system architectures,and discusses the function of each component—specifically,the passive sensor module,the wireless communication model,and the readout module—within the context of key implementations in target sensing systems.Furthermore,we present case studies that demonstrate the feasibility of proposed classified components for sensing scenarios,derived from this systematic approach.By outlining a research trajectory for the application of passive wireless systems in sensing technologies,this paper aims to establish a foundation for more advanced,user-friendly applications. 展开更多

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)integrated with Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)present a transformative approach to environmental monitoring by enabling real-time,low power,wide-area,and high-resolution data collection.This paper proposes a UAV-based WSN framework designed for efficient ecological data acquisition,including parameters such as temperature,humidity,various gases,detection of motion of a material,and safety features.The system leverages UAVs for dynamic deployment and data retrieval from distributed sensor nodes in remote or inaccessible areas,reducing the reliance on fixed infrastructure.Long Range Communication(LoRa)technology is also integrated with a WSN to enhance network coverage and adaptability issues.The proposed system covers vast areas through LoRa communication ensuring minimal energy consumption and cost-effective sensing capabilities.Field tests and simulation findings show how well the system captures spatiotemporal environmental fluctuations,making it an invaluable tool for monitoring climate change,ecological research,and disaster response. 展开更多

Accurate quantification of exercise interventions and changes in muscle function is essential for personalized health management.Electrical impedance myography(EIM)technology offers an innovative,noninvasive,painless,and easy-to-perform solution for muscle health monitoring.However,current EIM platforms face a number of limitations,including large device size,wired connections,and instability of the electrode-skin interface,which limit their applicability for monitoring mus-cle movement.In this study,a miniature wireless EIM platform with a user-friendly smartphone app is proposed and devel-oped.The miniature,wireless,multi-frequency(20 kHz-1 MHz)EIM platform is equipped with flexible microneedle array elec-trodes(MAE).The advantages of MAEs over conventional electrodes were demonstrated by physical field modeling simula-tions and skin-electrode contact impedance comparison tests.The smartphone APP was developed to wirelessly operate the EIM platform,and to transmit and process real-time muscle impedance data.To validate its effectiveness,a seven-day adaptive fatigue training study was conducted,which demonstrated that the EIM platform was able to detect muscle adaptations and serve as a reliable indicator of fatigue.This study presents an innovative approach to applying EIM technology to muscle health monitoring and exercise testing,thereby advancing the development of personalized health management and athletic performance assessment. 展开更多

A single sensor is used to obtain welding information in welding monitoring process, but this method has some shortcomings. In order to obtain more comprehensive and reliable welding information, this paper designed and built a welding multi-information wireless monitoring system with STM32-F407ZET6 as the control core and ALK8266 as the wireless transmission module. Real-time acquisition, transmission and display of electric arc signal and welding image information are realized in the monitoring system. This paper mainly introduces the hardware and software core of the monitoring system. At the same time, the signal collected by the monitoring system is compared with the original signal, and the accuracy of the remote monitoring system is tested. The monitoring system is used in welding test. The test results show that the accuracy of the monitoring system meets the requirements, and the on-line monitoring of electric arc signal and welding image can be realized in the welding process. 展开更多

Intelligent Semantic Segmentation with Vision Transformers for Aerial Vehicle Monitoring

Advanced traffic monitoring systems encounter substantial challenges in vehicle detection and classification due to the limitations of conventional methods,which often demand extensive computational resources and struggle with diverse data acquisition techniques.This research presents a novel approach for vehicle classification and recognition in aerial image sequences,integrating multiple advanced techniques to enhance detection accuracy.The proposed model begins with preprocessing using Multiscale Retinex(MSR)to enhance image quality,followed by Expectation-Maximization(EM)Segmentation for precise foreground object identification.Vehicle detection is performed using the state-of-the-art YOLOv10 framework,while feature extraction incorporates Maximally Stable Extremal Regions(MSER),Dense Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(Dense SIFT),and Zernike Moments Features to capture distinct object characteristics.Feature optimization is further refined through a Hybrid Swarm-based Optimization algorithm,ensuring optimal feature selection for improved classification performance.The final classification is conducted using a Vision Transformer,leveraging its robust learning capabilities for enhanced accuracy.Experimental evaluations on benchmark datasets,including UAVDT and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Intruder Dataset(UAVID),demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach,achieving an accuracy of 94.40%on UAVDT and 93.57%on UAVID.The results highlight the efficacy of the model in significantly enhancing vehicle detection and classification in aerial imagery,outperforming existing methodologies and offering a statistically validated improvement for intelligent traffic monitoring systems compared to existing approaches. 展开更多

By means of ground survey and "3S" technology,taking Maduo County in three river sources areas as example,the remote sensing model between biomass and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) in sampling points was established after calculating the NDVI distribution of TM image in Maduo County,and the grade distribution map of grassland productivity in Maduo County was obtained according to the grade division of grassland productivity in Qinghai Province,so as to monitor grassland productivity step by step.The results showed that grassland coverage area in Maduo County in 2009 was about 2.22 million hm2,and NDVI was mainly from 0 to 0.5,accounting for 88.64% of total grassland area in Maduo County;there was a significant correlation between biomass and NDVI in sampling point,with the correlation coefficient of above 0.7,and their model could be quantitatively expressed as follows,namely Biomass = 552.632 × NDVI1.137;grassland productivity in Maduo County was 750-3 000 kg/hm2 which occupied 72.1% of total grassland area;the highest grassland productivity in Maduo County was 4 500-6 500 kg/hm2,but it accounted for below 1% of total grassland area. 展开更多

[Method] The architecture of wireless sensor network, network nodes, hardware design as well as principle for the program structure of software operating system and corresponding parameters were analyzed to illustrate the characteristics of monitoring system for field soil water content based on wireless sensor network, and the advantages in application of this system. [Result] Sensor nodes could correctly collect and transmit soil water content, realize stable data transmission of soil water content, indicating that wireless sensor network is suitable for real-time monitoring of field soil water content. [Conclusion] This study indicates that wireless sensor network possesses a widely application foreground in the development of agriculture. 展开更多

The ecological environmental changes of Francois langur natural reserve was monitored during Pengshui Reservoir construction and influence of reservoir fil-ing on the habitat of the natural reserve was analyzed to provide the scientific basis and basic data for scientific evaluation and protection of original ecological environ-ment of the natural reserve and Francois langur’s habitat, and vegetation recover. The results showed that 4.8 hm2 of the nature reserve was submerged after reser-voir fil ing, which occupied for 0.1% of total area of the natural reserve only. The main influence area was in the submerged area of Hongdu River basin. The water level rise resulted in partial changes in land utilization and soil erosion, which indi-cates that reservoir fil ing has insignificant effect on ecological environment of the whole natural reserve. 展开更多

However, the major data sources of high-resolution images are not owned by China. The cost of large scale use of high resolution imagery data becomes prohibitive. In pace of the launch of the Chinese "High Resolution Earth Observation Systems", China is able to receive superb high-resolution remotely sensed images (GF series) that equalizes or even surpasses foreign similar satellites in respect of spatial resolution, scanning width and revisit period. This paper provides a perspective of using high resolution remote sensing data from satellite GF-1 for agriculture monitoring. It also assesses the applicability of GF-1 data for agricultural monitoring, and identifies potential applications from regional to national scales. GF-1's high resolution (i.e., 2 m/8 m), high revisit cycle (i.e., 4 days), and its visible and near-infrared (VNIR) spectral bands enable a continuous, efficient and effective agricultural dynamics monitoring. Thus, it has gradually substituted the foreign data sources for mapping crop planting areas, monitoring crop growth, estimating crop yield, monitoring natural disasters, and supporting precision and facility agriculture in China agricultural remote sensing monitoring system (CHARMS). However, it is still at the initial stage of GF-1 data application in agricultural remote sensing monitoring. Advanced algorithms for estimating agronomic parameters and soil quality with GF-1 data need to be further investigated, especially for improving the performance of remote sensing monitoring in the fragmented landscapes. In addition, the thematic product series in terms of land cover, crop allocation, crop growth and production are required to be developed in association with other data sources at multiple spatial scales. Despite the advantages, the issues such as low spectrum resolution and image distortion associated with high spatial resolution and wide swath width, might pose challenges for GF-1 data applications and need to be addressed in future agricultural monitoring. 展开更多

In this paper, the progress and development on remote sensing technology applied in earthquake monitoring research are summarized, such as differential interference synthetic aperture radar (D-InSAR), infrared remote sensing, and seismo-ionospheric detecting. Many new monitoring data in this domain have been used, and new data processing methods have been developed to obtain high-precision images about crustal deformation, outgoing longwave radiation (OLR), surface latent heat flux (SLHF), and ionospheric parameters. The development in monitoring technology and data processing technique largely enriches earthquake research information and provides new tools for earthquake stereoscope monitoring system, especially on the space part.
