This study aims to clarify the conceptual characteristics of artifact utilization in nursing practice instruction. Five selected articles were analyzed using the concept analysis method by Walker and Avant. The attributes, antecedents, and consequences of the concept were extracted from the target literature. The analysis revealed two attributes (“connecting people to people” and “connecting people to objects”);two antecedents (“recognition of artifacts” and “selection of artifacts”);and two consequences (“designing a fulfilling learning environment” and “improving the quality of education”). The concept was defined as “promoting the utilization of artifacts by recognizing and selecting them, connecting people to people and people to objects, designing a fulfilling learning environment, and improving the quality of education”. 展开更多

Remote sensing and web-based platforms have emerged as vital tools in the effective monitoring of mangrove ecosystems, which are crucial for coastal protection, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration. Utilizing satellite imagery and aerial data, remote sensing allows researchers to assess the health and extent of mangrove forests over large areas and time periods, providing insights into changes due to environmental stressors like climate change, urbanization, and deforestation. Coupled with web-based platforms, this technology facilitates real-time data sharing and collaborative research efforts among scientists, policymakers, and conservationists. Thus, there is a need to grow this research interest among experts working in this kind of ecosystem. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review on the effective role of remote sensing and web-based platform in monitoring mangrove ecosystem. The research paper utilized the thematic approach to extract specific information to use in the discussion which helped realize the efficiency of digital monitoring for the environment. Web-based platforms and remote sensing represent a powerful tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in the context of forest ecosystems. They facilitate the accessibility of vital data, promote collaboration among stakeholders, support evidence-based policymaking, and engage communities in conservation efforts. Large-scale deep-seated landslides pose a significant threat to human life and infrastructure.Therefore,closely monitoring these landslides is crucial for assessing and mitigating their associated risks.In this paper,the authors introduce the So Lo Mon framework,a comprehensive monitoring system developed for three large-scale landslides in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano,Italy.A web-based platform integrates various monitoring data(GNSS,topographic data,in-place inclinometer),providing a user-friendly interface for visualizing and analyzing the collected data.This facilitates the identification of trends and patterns in landslide behaviour,enabling the triggering of warnings and the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.The So Lo Mon platform has proven to be an invaluable tool for managing the risks associated with large-scale landslides through non-structural measures and driving countermeasure works design.It serves as a centralized data repository,offering visualization and analysis tools.This information empowers decisionmakers to make informed choices regarding risk mitigation,ultimately ensuring the safety of communities and infrastructures. 展开更多

Language learning and cultural communication are inherently intertwined and mutually reinforcing.In the context of college English instruction,emphasizing“telling China’s stories well”aligns with the principles of foreign language education and inevitably promotes cultural exchange and mutual understanding across different cultures through foreign language learning.Many researchers have explored ways of cultivating students’ability to communicate Chinese stories and spread Chinese culture in English.However,a few studies have been performed on exploring paths of incorporating regional culture into English language education.In particular,incorporating Qinghai’s indigenous cultural resources into college English teaching practice is rare.Therefore,a survey was conducted to ascertain the present situation concerning integrating Qinghai’s regional culture into college English teaching practice at Qinghai University.Based on the data from the survey,the present study discusses the results and implications obtained during the present teaching process and probes into practical strategies for the infiltration of Qinghai’s regional culture into college English teaching from the dimensions of curriculum,teaching materials,approaches,teachers’professional development,and teaching evaluation,intending to achieve the goals of language teaching and cultural education in the college English course. 展开更多

This study explores differentiated instructional strategies in higher education,focusing on municipal universities in Beijing to address the needs of students requiring special academic and psychological support.Despite standardized cultivation frameworks in universities,significant variations persist among undergraduates in academic planning,cognitive traits,and psychological profiles.A minority of students face challenges due to cognitive misjudgments(e.g.,unrealistic self-assessment),goal fixation(e.g.,excessive focus on postgraduate exams or studying abroad),psychological barriers(e.g.,social withdrawal),or mental health crises,which hinder their academic integration and personal development.Universities must adopt flexible,compliance-oriented differentiated instruction within standardized frameworks to support at-risk students.Strategies should balance personalized interventions with institutional fairness,ensuring equitable opportunities for all students while safeguarding academic integrity. 展开更多

Modules enable students to engage with content at their own pace,fostering autonomy and deeper understanding.The modular approach ensures clarity in presenting objectives,instructions,and concepts,while having illustrations,activities,and assessments could enhance comprehension and retention.This paper was a developmental study on STS module for college students using the ADDIE Model(Analysis,Design,Development,Implementation,and Evaluation).Sampled 673 first-year students from Northwest Samar State University participated in the study,with 299 participating in a test try-out and 374 in the students’performance evaluation.Three expert evaluators with backgrounds in science,English,and psychology,each with over four years of experience,assessed the modules to ensure alignment with the study’s constructivist learning goals and instructional integrity.The findings revealed that both students and experts had rated the instructional module positively,indicating its effectiveness in facilitating learning and completing lessons.Key aspects such as the style of illustrations and written expressions,the usefulness of learning activities,and the guidance provided by illustrations and captions were especially well-received.The module was praised for its clear objectives,understandable instructions,and engaging tasks like trivia and puzzles.Expert evaluations highlighted relevance,simplicity,and balanced emphasis on topics in the module content.Furthermore,students in test group demonstrated significant improvement in performance,with post-test scores notably higher than pre-test scores,confirming the module’s effectiveness in enhancing learning outcomes.Consequently,this paper provides an opportunity to integrate science learning with initiatives aimed at promoting environmental preservation and driving social change. 展开更多

Visual entailment(VE)is a prototypical task in multimodal visual reasoning,where current methods frequently utilize large language models(LLMs)as the knowledge base to assist in answering questions.These methods heavily rely on the textual modality,which inherently cannot capture the full extent of information contained within images.We propose a context-aware visual entailment(CAVE)model,which introduces a novel aggregation module designed to extract high-level semantic features from images.This module integrates lower-level semantic image features into high-level visual tokens,formatting them similarly to text tokens so that they can serve as inputs for LLMs.The CAVE model compensates for the loss of image information and integrates it more effectively with textual comprehension.Additionally,the CAVE model incorporates a new input format and training methodology,which is rooted in instruction tuning and in-context learning techniques.The objective of this research is to maximize the inherent logical reasoning capabilities of LLMs.Experimental results on the E-SNLIVE dataset show that the proposed CAVE model exhibits outstanding performance. 展开更多

With the rapid development of information technology,Artificial Intelligence(AI)is gradually applied to a wide range of fields,especially the powerful ability of ChatGPT to bring infinite possibilities for education,but teachers’attitudes toward using it are not yet clear.The study investigates the use of ChatGPT by kindergarten teachers to support instructional design using questionnaires and interviews to explore the attitudes and perceptions of kindergarten teachers toward its use.The results indicate that kindergarten teachers hold positive preferences for technology acceptance,perceived self-efficacy,and learning attitudes toward using ChatGPT for instructional design.Meanwhile,the study argues that more research is needed in the future to focus on how kindergarten teachers can aptly use ChatGPT to improve the quality of instruction in realistic instructionenvironments. 展开更多

This study explores the potential application of ChatGPT in designing customized instructional plans for Chinese as a Second Language(CSL)teaching,focusing on non-Chinese-speaking(NCS)students in Hong Kong.Through two rounds of comparative experiments,the study evaluates the effectiveness of AI-generated instructional designs against expert-designed versions.Results reveal that while initial ChatGPT designs initially have limitations,advanced versions demonstrate significant potential in supporting teachers with task-based language teaching(TBLT).These designs provide practical,culturally relevant tasks tailored to diverse learners,enhancing instructional efficiency and learner engagement.Furthermore,ChatGPT’s accessibility offers opportunities to reduce educational disparities by supporting teachers in resource-limited contexts,thereby addressing inequities in instructional quality.The study concludes that,while AI cannot replace teachers,ChatGPT can serve as a valuable supplementary tool,complementing human expertise in culturally and linguistically complex L2 teaching.It underscores the importance of ethical considerations and the critical role of teachers in integrating AI technology effectively to maximize its benefits in education. 展开更多

Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)programs.Given the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on learning outcomes,it is imperative that teachers establish positive emotional rapport with their students.This study explores how experienced and highly rated EMI lecturers at a Chinese university’s overseas campus use communication strategies to build rapport with their students during interactive academic activities.It identifies the strategies used by these lecturers and examines how the strategies facilitate the teaching-learning process.The data,consisting of 10 hours of tutorials and 10 hours of supervisor-student supervision meetings,is analyzed using an adapted Conversation Analysis(CA)approach.The analysis reveals three types of communication strategies(CSs)frequently used by lecturers:back-channeling,codeswitching,and co-creation of messages.By employing these strategies,the lecturers established a strong rapport with the students,which created an encouraging and supportive learning environment.Consequently,this positive atmosphere facilitated students’learning of content knowledge through English.The findings of this study have implications for the training of lecturers who encounter difficulties in establishing rapport with multilingual students in the EMI setting. 展开更多
