When a disaster occurs, the demand for information and communication technology (ICT) services drastically increases. To meet such demands, a national project was undertaken in Japan to develop the Movable and Deploya...When a disaster occurs, the demand for information and communication technology (ICT) services drastically increases. To meet such demands, a national project was undertaken in Japan to develop the Movable and Deployable ICT Resource Unit (MDRU). One challenge regarding the MDRU is securing operators to work the units in emergency situations. As ICT service users have diverse and frequently changing demands, strong technical skills and practical knowledge are required for the administration of MDRUs. In this paper, we propose a knowledge-based network management system to alleviate the burden on administrators. To deal with the structural changes to network systems that frequently occur with changes in ICT service demand, we introduce modularization techniques into our previous research. The proposed system can be easily reconfigured by join/disjoin modules corresponding to changes in the system configuration of the MDRU. The results of our experiments using the implemented experimental system confirm that the proposed system can be applied to MDRU operation and effectively supports administrators.展开更多

Since any single key system canno...Wireless sensor networks are open architectures, so any potential threat can easily intercept, wiretap and counterfeit the information. Therefore, the safety of WSN is very important. Since any single key system cannot guarantee the security of the wireless sensor network for communications, this paper introduces a hierarchical key management scheme based on the different abilities of different sensor nodes in the clustered wireless sensor network. In this scheme, the nodes are distributed into several clusters, and a cluster head must be elected for each cluster. Private communication between cluster heads is realized through the encryption system based on the identity of each head while private communication between cluster nodes in a same cluster head is achieved through the random key preliminary distribution system. Considering the characteristics of WSN, we adopt dynamic means called dynamic cluster key management scheme to deal with master key, so master key will be updated according to the changed dynamic network topology. For cluster head node plays a pivotal role in this scheme, a trust manage-ment system should be introduced into the election of the cluster head which will exclude the malicious node from outside the cluster, thus improve the whole network security.展开更多

The nature of web applications to span a number of servers introduces a new dimension of security requirement that calls for a holistic approach to protect the information asset regardless of its physical or logical separation of modules and tiers. We therefore classify security mechanisms as either infrastructure-centric or application-centric based on what asset is being secured. These constraints are not limited to memory and processing capabilities but...Embedded computing device implementation on the Internet of Things (IoT) requires careful assessment of their intrinsic resource limitations. These constraints are not limited to memory and processing capabilities but extend to the network interfaces, particularly due to the low-power radio standards that these devices typically employ. The IPv6 protocol is shown to be a strong option for guaranteeing interoperability in the IoT, mostly because of its large address space, the range of current IP-based protocols, and its intrinsic versatility. Considering these benefits, we investigate if current IP-based network management protocols can be implemented on devices with limited resources. We investigate the resource needs in particular for implementing Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) on an 8-bit AVR-based device. Our investigation reveals the specific memory and processing demands of these protocols, providing valuable insights into their practicality and efficiency in constrained IoT environments. This study underscores the potential and challenges of leveraging IPv6-based network management protocols to enhance the functionality and interoperability of IoT devices while operating within stringent resource limitations.展开更多

Although current solutions propose to encrypt data before s...The online social networks（OSNs） offer attractive means for social interactions and data sharing, as well as raise a number of security and privacy issues. Although current solutions propose to encrypt data before sharing, the access control of encrypted data has become a challenging task. Moreover, multiple owners may enforce different access policy to the same data because of their different privacy concerns. A digital rights management（DRM） scheme is proposed for encrypted data in OSNs. In order to protect users＇ sensitive data, the scheme allows users outsource encrypted data to the OSNs service provider for sharing and customize the access policy of their data based on ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption. Furthermore, the scheme presents a multiparty access control model based on identity-based broadcast encryption and ciphertext-policy attribute-based proxy re-encryption, which enables multiple owners, such as tagged users who appear in a single data, customize the access policy collaboratively, and also allows the disseminators update the access policy if their attributes satisfy the existing access policy. Security analysis and comparison indicate that the proposed scheme is secure and efficient.展开更多

Although current solutions propose to encrypt data before sharing, the access control of encrypted data has become a challenging task. Moreover, multiple owners may enforce different access policy to the same data because of their different privacy concerns. A digital rights management（DRM） scheme is proposed for encrypted data in OSNs. In order to protect users＇ sensitive data, the scheme allows users outsource encrypted data to the OSNs service provider for sharing and customize the access policy of their data based on ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption. Furthermore, the scheme presents a multiparty access control model based on identity-based broadcast encryption and ciphertext-policy attribute-based proxy re-encryption, which enables multiple owners, such as tagged users who appear in a single data, customize the access policy collaboratively, and also allows the disseminators update the access policy if their attributes satisfy the existing access policy. Security analysis and comparison indicate that the proposed scheme is secure and efficient.
