Specifically, for the simplified case of constant stratospheric N^(2), the refractive index square of planetary waves has a theoretical tendency to increase first and then decrease with an increased N^(2), whereas the group velocity weakens. Mechanistically, this behavior can be understood as an intensified suppression of vertical isentropic surface displacement caused by meridional heat transport of planetary waves under strong N^(2) conditions. Observational analysis corroborates this finding, demonstrating a reduction in the vertical-propagation velocity of waves with increased N^(2). A linear, quasi- geostrophic, mid-latitude beta-plane model with a constant background westerly wind and a prescribed N^(2) applicable to the stratosphere is used to obtain analytic solutions. In this model, the planetary waves are initiated by steady energy influx from the lower boundary. The analysis indicates that under strong N^(2) conditions, the amplitude of planetary waves can be sufficiently increased by the effective energy convergence due to the slowing vertical energy transfer, resulting in a streamfunction response in this model that contains more energy. For N^(2) with a quasi-linear vertical variation, the results bear a resemblance to the constant case, except that the wave amplitude and oscillating frequency show some vertical variations.展开更多

The fast marching method (FMM) is useful for calculating 3D traveltime and has proven to be efficient and stable. However, it has low calculation accuracy near the source, which thus gives it low overall accuracy. This paper proposes a joint traveltime calculation method to solve this problem. The method firstly employs the wavefront construction method (WFC), which has a higher calculation accuracy than FMM in calculating traveltime in the small area near the source, and secondly adopts FMM to calculate traveltime for the remaining grid nodes. Due to the increase in calculation precision of grid nodes near the source, this new algorithm is shown to have good calculation precision while maintaining the high calculation efficiency of FMM, which is employed in most of the computational area. Results are verified using various numerical models.展开更多

文摘Wave front healing is a common natural phenomenon. To further investigate wave front healing,we simulated wave propagation in a spherical anomaly surrounded by homogeneous media using a high-order finite difference solution of the acoustic equation.Furthermore,we analyzed the characteristics of the wave propagation in the anomaly, and found that they are related to the dominant frequency of the seismic wave and the dimensions of the anomaly.Through quantitative comparison of the wave front energy of the diffracted wave and transmitted wave,we summarized the influences of the wave front healing on seismic tomography. We conclude that, under the strong scattering condition, only positive anomalies can be inverted by ray-based tomography, only large anomalies can be inverted by finite-frequency tomography, and small negative anomalies cannot be inverted by any first-arrival traveltime tomographic methods. These conclusions are verified by tomographic experiments based on different theoretical models. Finally,we propose that more information besides the first-arrival traveltime should be used to invert the high wave number components of the media.Besides the above acquisitions of wave front healing on seismic tomography,we explain the banana-doughnut phenomena, and offer a new insight into the wave scattering, which should be important for better understanding the wave propagation and seismic inversion.
文摘By manipulating the phase map of a wavefront of light using a spatial light modulator, the scattered light can be sharply focused on a specific target.Several iterative optimization algo-rithrns for obtaining the optimumn phase map have been explored. However, there has not been a comparative study on the performance of these algorithms. In this paper, six optimization algorithms for wavefront shaping inchuding continuous sequential, partitioning algorithm, transmission matrix estimation method, particle swarm optimization, genetic algorithm(GA),and simulated annealing(SA)are discussed and compared based on their efficiency when introduced with various measurement noise levels.

文摘The phase conjugation between the deformable mirror and the wavefront sensor in the aberration correction of a terawatt Ti:sapphire laser is studied experimentally and theoretically in this paper. At varying values of phase- conjugation precision, we focus the corresponding beams into spots of the same size of 5.1 μm × 5.3 μm with a f/4 parabola in the 32 TW/36 fs Ti:sapphire laser system. The results show that the precision of conjugation can induce an intensity modulation but does not significantly affect the wavefront correction.

文摘A simple approach to calculate the amplitude component of a wave front propagating in space from a hologram is proposed. It is able to calculate the amplitude distribution on a plane at any distance rapidly using a standard GPU. This is useful for analyzing and reconstructing the 3D image encoded on a hologram.

文摘This paper is concerned with stability of traveling wave fronts for nonlocal diffusive system. We adopt L^(1),-weighted,L^(1)-and L^(2)-energy estimates for the perturbation systems, and show that all solutions of the Cauchy problem for the considered systems converge exponentially to traveling wave fronts provided that the initial perturbations around the traveling wave fronts belong to a suitable weighted Sobolev spaces.
