A wide range of wastes can potentially be used to generate thermal and electrical energy. The co-combustion of several types of waste as part of water-containing waste-derived fuels is a promising method for their recovery. In this research,we use thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry to study the thermal behavior and kinetics of coal slime, biomass, waste oils, and blends on their basis. We also analyze the concentrations of gaseous emissions. The results show that biomass, oils, and coal slime significantly affect each other in the course of their co-combustion when added to slurry fuels. The preparation of coal-water slurry based on slime and water reduced the ignition and burnout temperature by up to 16%.Adding biomass and waste oils additionally stimulated the slurry ignition and burnout, which occurred at lower temperatures.Relative to dry coal slime, threshold ignition temperatures and burnout temperatures decreased by 6%–9%and 17%–25%,respectively.Also,the use of biomass and waste oils as part of slurries inhibited NOхand SO_(2)emission by 2.75 times.According to the kinetic analysis, added biomass and waste turbine oil provide a 28%–51%reduction in the activation energy as compared to a coal-water slurry without additives. 展开更多

The performance of a biofilter for off-gas treatment relies on the activity of microorganisms and adequate O_2 and H_2O. In present study, a microelectrode was applied to analyze O_2 in polyurethane foam cubes(PUFCs) packed in a biofilter for SO_2 removal. The O_2 distribution varied with the density and water-containing rate(WCR) of PUFCs. The O_2 concentration dropped sharply from 10.2 to 0.8 mg/L from the surface to the center of a PUFC with 97.20%of WCR. The PUFCs with high WCR presented aerobic–anoxic–aerobic areas.Three-dimensional simulated images demonstrated that the structure of PUFCs with high WCR consisted of an aerobic "shell" and an anoxic "core", with high-density PUFCs featuring a larger anoxic area than low-density PUFCs. Moreover, the H_2O distribution in the PUFC was uneven and affected the O_2 concentration. Whereas aerobic bacteria were observed in the PUFC surface, facultative anaerobic microorganisms were found at the PUFC core, where the O_2 concentration was relatively low. O_2 and H_2O distributions differed in the PUFCs, and the distribution of microorganisms varied accordingly. 展开更多

The properties of polyurethane concrete containing a large amount of fly ash are investigated, and accordingly,a model is introduced to account for the influence of fly ash fineness, water ratio, and loss of ignition(LOI)on its mechanical performances. This research shows that, after optimization, the concrete has a compressive strength of 20.8 MPa,a flexural strength of 3.4 MPa,and a compressive modulus of elasticity of 19.2 GPa.The main factor influencing 28 and 90 d compressive strength is fly ash content,water-binder ratio, and early strength agent content. 展开更多
