AIM:To investigate the impact of chronic fatigue on disease-related worries in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and the potential multicolinearity between subjective questionnaires.METHODS:Patients in remission or wit...AIM:To investigate the impact of chronic fatigue on disease-related worries in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and the potential multicolinearity between subjective questionnaires.METHODS:Patients in remission or with mild-tomoderate disease activity completed the fatigue questionnaire (FQ),the rating form of IBD patient concerns (RFIPC),the Short-Form 36 (SF-36),and IBD questionnaire (N-IBDQ).In addition,clinical and epidemiological data were obtained.RESULTS:In total,140 patients were included;of which 92 were diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and 48 with Crohn's disease.The mean age of patients with chronic fatigue was 44.2 years (SD=15.8) and for non-fatigued patients was 44.7 years (SD=16.0).Chronic fatigued patients had clinically significantly increased levels of disease-related worries,as measured by Cohen's d effect size.Worries about having an ostomy bag,loss of bowel control,and energy levels were most prominent in both chronic fatigued and non-chronic fatigued IBD patients.Variance inflation factor (VIF) and tolerance indicated that there were no problematic multicolinearity among the FQ,RFIPC,SF-36 and N-IBDQ responses (VIF < 5 and tolerance > 2).CONCLUSION:Chronic fatigue is associated with increased levels of disease-related worries and concerns in IBD.Increased levels of worries were also associated with impaired health-related quality of life.展开更多

Study 1 used the PID-5 which i...This paper reports on two studies using different measures of both Modern Health Worries (MHW) and the Personality Disorders (PDs) to establish the relationship between the two concepts. Study 1 used the PID-5 which is a measure of maladaptive personality traits and the extended 40 item MHW scale. Study 2 used the original 28 item measure of MHW and PDs as measured by the Coolidge Axis-II Inventory—Short Form: SCATI. In study 1 a regression on the total MHW scale accounted for 14% of the variance: those who scored higher on Antagonism and Negative Affect had higher MHW scores. In the study 2 regressions showed four variables consistently related to MHW: sex (females with higher scores), optimism, political beliefs (left wing liberals with higher scores) and those with Cluster B personality disorders (dramatic, overly emotional, erratic). There was enough overlap in the two studies to conclude that various PDs mainly from Cluster B (Moving Against others) were modestly related to MHW as predicted. Thus we were looking at concerns patients had before and after such a cons...Controversy exists whether or not patient’s concerns regarding anesthetics can be reduced by face-to-face pre-assessment with an anesthetist. Thus we were looking at concerns patients had before and after such a consultation. Patient satisfaction was rated by a validated questionnaire. A four-staged Likert-scale was used to quantify the extent of patients concerns. The totaling 461 patients were overall highly satisfied. 448 patients had “nil” to “minimal” concerns. After the assessment, 106 patients stated their concerns had been lessened (p 0.001). Having gone through the anesthetic pre-assessment center, 99.1% of all patients reported no considerable concerns regarding anesthetics whatsoever. A high level of patient satisfaction does not constitute a low level of concerns patients may hold over anesthetics, although a pre-operative consultation mitigated these concerns by 23%, whilst for 9% of all patients this pre-assessment led to a higher level of concerns.展开更多

This paper takes income and“two no worries and three guarantees”(rural poor people have no worry about food and clothing and have access to compulsory education,basic medical services,and safe housing)as two essenti...This paper takes income and“two no worries and three guarantees”(rural poor people have no worry about food and clothing and have access to compulsory education,basic medical services,and safe housing)as two essential indexes,and is based on data collected from a survey of 237 rural households living below the poverty level in Yi communities in Liangshan.Through case studies and positive analysis,we explored the impact of labor transfer on poverty alleviation.We found that the following factors contribute to a double paradox of labor service-enabled poverty alleviation:An income growth trend which prioritizes“external income”(from urban work)over“internal income”(from an agricultural business),restrictions by performance indexes,as well as a lack of public services in rural areas.Although labor transfer can help rural households increase household income and non-agricultural income and reduce poverty within a short period of time,it can hardly promote agricultural businesses through non-agricultural employment and thereby help poverty-stricken rural households permanently alleviate poverty.Although labor transfer can exacerbate various issues facing poverty-stricken households(such as a delay in housing construction,school drop-out rates and health risks for the elderly),it can also play a positive role in raising the profile of farmers and improving rural education and living environments.Based on this study,we propose continuing the supply-side reform in the labor market,implementing differentiated poverty alleviation policies,improving the existing mechanism for poverty alleviation assessment,establishing rural public services,and launching a corresponding multi-channel financing mechanism.展开更多

Methods: 214 patients with breast cancer who were treated in Tangshan Peoples Hospital from March 2021 to October 2021 were selected by convenience sampling. The post cancer fertility Anxiety Scale (RCAC), self-efficacy scale (BCSES) and self disclosure scale were used for investigation and analysis. Results: the total score of breast cancer patients fertility worries is (58.78 ± 8.68). Age, education level, monthly income, sex of children, fertility willingness, operation method, whether family members have cancer or not, and self-efficacy are the influencing factors of breast cancer patients fertility worries. Conclusion: breast cancer patients fertility anxiety level is poor, which should be highly valued by medical workers. Effective measures should be taken to help breast cancer patients improve their fertility anxiety level and improve their quality of life.展开更多

The present study examined the factor structure and psychometric properties of th...The Penn State Worry Questionnaire(PSWQ) is a measure of worry phenomena and has been demonstrated valid in cross-cultural populations. The present study examined the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Chinese version of PSWQ(Ch-PSWQ) in a Chinese college sample(n=1243). Exploratory factor analysis of the Ch-PSWQ revealed a two-factor solution(engagement of worry and absence of worry). Confirmatory factor analysis and model comparison supported that the model of one factor with method effect provided the best fit to the data. The Ch-PSWQ and its factors evidenced good internal consistency and both convergent and discriminate validity. The present study supports the opinion that the second factor of PSWQ not only contains the component of evaluating pathological worry,but also might represent other traits.展开更多
