Tailor-made interventions needed to address livelihood and environmental strategies of poor rural women become meaningful if studies aim at revealing context specific, local variations in women's environmental behaviors. In this context, there is only little research for Ethiopia regarding what influences women's response to environmental problems. The objective of this research was to describe women's response to environmental problems in Pawe Woreda and examine the demographic, socioeconomic, and institutional correlates of this response, with particular emphasis to forest resources. Data were primarily obtained from a sample of 363 households in a multi-stage sample survey and were analyzed mainly using a multivariate logistic regression model. We found that all except one of the demographic and socioeconomic variables included in the model were found to be statistically significant correlates of woman's environmental response, but the institutional variable was not significantly associated with a woman's environmental response. However, the qualitative result for additional institutional issues revealed the importance of land tenure. Many of the results are in line with the existing literature.展开更多

These negative experiences are referred to as obstetrical violence. The aim of this study is to contribute to improving the quality of maternal health care. Patient and Method: This was a cross-sectional study with a quantitative component carried out in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Maman Elisabeth Domitien University Hospital from November 1 to 30, 2024. All women in childbed seen for postnatal consultations within 42 days of delivery were included. Results: We included 109 women. Age ranged from 16 to 44 years with a mean of 26.9 (±6.02). The majority of women were living in common-law unions with 79.8% and 57.8% of mothers having a secondary education level. More than half of the participants (52.9%) said that they had not been prepared for childbirth during prenatal follow-up and 44.0% had not freely chosen their path of delivery. The vaginal route was the most observed route of delivery (97.3%). Of all vaginal deliveries, episiotomy was performed in 21.7% and uterine revision in 66.0%. For episiotomies, 26.1% of women in childbed were informed about its performance and 87.0% had had a bad experience with this event. For women who had undergone a uterine revision, 52.9% had been informed of its performance and 77.1% had a bad experience with the event. Women in childbed had been victims of inappropriate acts and verbal aggression in 18.4% and 14.7% respectively. Of all the participants, 45.0% said they had experienced the birth episode badly. Conclusion: This study has given us an idea of the subject. However, a large-scale study will enable us to understand the different facets of this subject.展开更多

In Ghana, approximately 4482 women are diagnosed with these diseases at advanced stages. Unfortunately, the early detection rate for these cancers is low compared to other women’s health services. This situation underscores the need to identify the locations of reproductive-age women who have not been screened for these cancers, to implement targeted public health interventions. This study aims to pinpoint these women’s locations for tailored interventions. Method: Bivariate analysis assessed the relationship between the independent and outcome variables. Hot spot analysis and Kriging Ordinary interpolation were employed to pinpoint the locations of these women. Results: Breast cancer examination and cervical cancer test rates were low, with a strong association between the two screening services. Several significant variables were identified: place of residence (p Conclusion: Low participation in these screening services was related to women’s age and the outreach efforts of fieldworkers. Breast and cervical cancer screenings are interconnected and could be combined to improve attendance rates. The Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) implementation strategy could be cost-effective for screening women through targeted interventions, especially in identified clusters.展开更多

文摘Objective:Pelvic floor dysfunction is common among pregnant and postpartum women and significantly impacts quality of life. This study aims to translate the German Pelvic Floor Questionnaire for Pregnant and Postpartum Women into Chinese and to evaluate its reliability and validity in the Chinese population. Methods:The questionnaire was translated using the Brislin model.A cross-sectional study was conducted among pregnant and postpartum women to assess the content validity, construct validity,Cronbach’sαcoefficient,test-retest reliability, and split-half reliability of the Chinese version. Results:A total of 72 women were included, with 6.9% being pregnant and 93.1% postpartum;the age was(32.3±3.6)years.The Chinese version of the questionnaire contains 4 dimensions and 45 items. The content validity index of individual items ranged from 0.833 to 1.000,with a scale-level content validity index of 0.977 and intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)exceeding 0.90.The overall Cronbach’s α coefficient was 0.891,with subscale coefficients ranging from 0.732 to 0.884(all ICCs>0.70).The testretest reliability of the total scale was 0.833,and for the 4 dimensions, bladder, bowel, prolapse, and sexual function, the values were 0.776,0.579,0.732,and 0.645,respectively.The split-half reliability was 0.74.Conclusion:The Chinese version of the questionnaire demonstrated good reliability and validity, indicating its applicability in assessing pelvic floor dysfunction and associated risk factors during pregnancy and postpartum.
文摘Available cross-country, macro-level evidence regarding gender differences in environmental behaviors shows women are more environmentally concerned and responsive than men. However, while such macro-level evidence helps understand patterns of women's environmental behaviors at a much broader level, it does not allow deeper insights into particular patterns at a single location or in much smaller areas. Many of the results are in line with the existing literature.
文摘Introduction: Considering a disease of postmenopausal women, there is a noted trend of increasing breast cancer cases among premenopausal women. Our study aimed to determine the main risk factors for breast cancer in women aged 40 and under. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study with exhaustive sampling of all respondents with histological proof over a 12-month period, matched by age. For all statistical tests, we used a significance threshold of 5%. Additionally provided are the ORs and their 95% confidence intervals, the mean, and standard deviation. Results: We collected 65 cases and 130 controls. The frequency of breast cancer in women aged 40 and under was 35.5%. The mean age was 35.6 ± 4.5 years among cases compared to 32.1 ± 7.9 years among controls. A significantly positive association was detected in both univariate and multivariate analysis between age and breast cancer [(OR) = 10.30;95% CI (1.99 - 53.23)] and [(OR) = 7.53;95% CI (1.82 - 31.23)];family history of breast cancer and breast cancer [(OR) = 9.99;95% CI (1.43 - 69.58)];smoking and breast cancer [OR = 13.11;95% CI (1.05 - 163.30)];sedentary lifestyle and breast cancer [OR = 3.36;95% CI (1.01 - 11.17)];and night work and breast cancer [(OR) = 72.05;95% CI (8.15 - 637.25)]. Conclusion: Earlier systematic screening and regular follow-up should be conducted in young women in our context.
文摘Objective: This study aims to analyze the distribution of positive human papillomavirus (HPV) infections among women of appropriate age in Beiliu City during cervical cancer screening in 2024, providing data support for subsequent public health interventions. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the HPV test results from January 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024, at Beiliu Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Results: A total of 7558 individuals were tested, with 1103 positive cases identified, resulting in a positivity rate of 14.59%. Among these, HPV type 52 had the highest positive rate, accounting for 18.47%. The co-infection analysis showed that there were 788 cases with single genotype positivity, 236 with double genotype positivity, and 58 with triple genotype positivity, while cases with multiple genotypes simultaneously positive were relatively rare. Conclusion: The HPV infection rate among women of appropriate age in Beiliu City is relatively high, especially for high-risk HPV types. To reduce the future incidence of cervical cancer, it is recommended to enhance health education and vaccination efforts for this population.
文摘Introduction: Access to the best quality of obstetrical care sometimes conceals acts and behaviors that fail to respect women’s physical, mental and social integrity. However, a large-scale study will enable us to understand the different facets of this subject.
文摘Purpose: There is a significant rise in mortality rates from breast and cervical cancers in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. The Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) implementation strategy could be cost-effective for screening women through targeted interventions, especially in identified clusters.
