There is limited literature regarding the predictors of screen media use among children. This study aimed to examine the association between selected predictors and screen media use among children aged 3 - 13. The findings of this study are based on 192 children aged 3 - 13 and their caregivers recruited from Facebook and WhatsApp groups. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed. The participants filled a demographic questionnaire and the Problematic Media Use Measure Short Form to obtain data about parents’ and children characteristics, screen time and problematic use of media. The screen time for 83% of the children was more than two hours. Mobile ownership (beta (β) = 0.22) and conflict about mobile use (beta (β) = 0.16) have significantly predicted the child total screen time. Child age (beta (β) = 0.17) and conflict about mobile use (beta (β) = −0.33) have significantly predicted the problematic use of media. Most children in the current study exceeded the recommended screen time. There is an urgent need to implement interventions that mitigate children’s excessive use of media.展开更多

These platforms have become critical for sharing opinions and insights, influencing daily habits, and driving business, political, and economic decisions. Text posts are particularly significant, and natural language processing (NLP) has emerged as a powerful tool for analyzing such data. While traditional NLP methods have been effective for structured media, social media content poses unique challenges due to its informal and diverse nature. This has spurred the development of new techniques tailored for processing and extracting insights from unstructured user-generated text. One key application of NLP is the summarization of user comments to manage overwhelming content volumes. Abstractive summarization has proven highly effective in generating concise, human-like summaries, offering clear overviews of key themes and sentiments. This enhances understanding and engagement while reducing cognitive effort for users. For businesses, summarization provides actionable insights into customer preferences and feedback, enabling faster trend analysis, improved responsiveness, and strategic adaptability. By distilling complex data into manageable insights, summarization plays a vital role in improving user experiences and empowering informed decision-making in a data-driven landscape. This paper proposes a new implementation framework by fine-tuning and parameterizing Transformer Large Language Models to manage and maintain linguistic and semantic components in abstractive summary generation. The system excels in transforming large volumes of data into meaningful summaries, as evidenced by its strong performance across metrics like fluency, consistency, readability, and semantic coherence.展开更多

文摘This paper presents the findings of a two-week monitoring project on Gender Based Violence(GBV)in Tanzanian and explores how the media outlets frame the marginalized voices, institutional narratives, and intersectional inclusivity.Drawing qualitative approach and analysis of media coverage of GBV during the 202416 Days of Activism campaign remarkably November 25 to December 10,2024,it reveals the extent that media platforms amplify or marginalize survivor voices.Through two weeks of media monitoring across print, broadcast, and social media including sources notably Mwananchi,TBC1,Cloud FM,and advocacy-driven digital platforms and campaigns through#EndGBVNow and#16DaysOfActivism the study explores recurring themes, language use, tone, and inclusivity.Guided by critical gender theories including Judith Butler’s gender performativity and Gave Tuchman’s symbolic annihilation, the analysis reveals media’s dual role in either perpetuating or challenging patriarchal narratives.Findings indicate that traditional media often foreground prevailing institutional voices while underrepresenting marginalized groups, especially rural women and women with disabilities, portraying harmful cultural practices like FGM and child marriage as community challenges rather than universal human rights violation.Conversely, social media emerged as a transformative space for survivor-led advocacy.Hence the study calls for inclusive, ethical, and survivor-centered media reporting as well as strategic integration of digital and mainstream media to promote justice and policy reform in GBV reporting.
文摘The spherically layered media theory has wide applications for electromagnetic wave scattering analysis.Due to the involved Bessel functions, the conventional formulations of spherically layered media theory suffer from numerical overflow or underflow when the Bessel function’s order is large, the argument is small or the argument has a large imaginary part. The first two issues have been solved recently by employing small-argument asymptotic formulas of Bessel functions, while the third issue remains unsolved. In this paper, the Bessel functions in the conventional formulation of the theory are replaced by scaled Bessel functions which have good numerical properties for high loss media, and stable formulas are derived.Numerical tests show that this approach can work properly with very high lossy media. Also, this approach can be seamlessly combined with the stable computation method for cases of small argument and large order of Bessel functions.
文摘In the digital age, where traditional culture is in danger of gradually disappearing, one iconic figure has taken it upon herself to reverse the trend by reviving traditional skills.A prominent Chinese vlogger,Li Ziqi, whose birth name is Li Jiajia, has amassed a vast online following by reinterpreting traditions that date back thousands of years.Following a threeyear absence from social media, she made a highly anticipated return with the release of three new videos in mid-November 2024.These videos represent the culmination of several months of behind-the-scenes work.
文摘This study investigates how artificial intelligence(AI)algorithms enable mainstream media to achieve precise emotional matching and improve communication efficiency through reconstructed communication logic. As digital intelligence technology rapidly evolves, mainstream media organizations are increasingly leveraging AI-driven empathy algorithms to enhance audience engagement and optimize content delivery. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of algorithmic performance metrics with qualitative examination of media communication patterns.Through systematic review of 150 academic papers and analysis of data from 12 major media platforms, this study reveals that algorithmic empathy systems can improve emotional resonance by 34.7%and increase audience engagement by 28.3%compared to traditional communication methods. The findings demonstrate that AI algorithms reconstruct media communication logic through three primary pathways:emotional pattern recognition, personalized content curation, and real-time sentiment adaptation. However, the study also identifies significant challenges including algorithmic bias, emotional authenticity concerns, and ethical implications of automated empathy. The research contributes to understanding how mainstream media can leverage AI technology to build high-quality empathetic communication while maintaining journalistic integrity and social responsibility.
文摘Under the blazing sun of Kamuli District in Uganda’s Eastern Region,a group of young farmers gathered around a patch of freshly turned red soil.Cameras rolled as Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga joined local youth to plant the first chilli seedlings on a 10-acre(4.05 hectares)demonstration farm. The live broadcast, aired on the national agricultural television programme Kungula, marked not only the launch of a digital farming project led by AMPA Media, but also symbolised Africa’s growing ambition to unite tradition with technology.

文摘In the fields of reservoir fracture prediction and fracturing monitoring,shear-wave splitting analysis has exhibited notable technical advantages.Compared with compressional waves,it offers a more robust capability for predicting the orientation and extent of fracture development systems or formation heterogeneity. In regions characterized by vertically or unidirectionally fractured thin interbedded formations, conventional shear-wave splitting analysis and correction methods based on the HTI(Horizontal Transverse Isotropy)medium model are inadequate. These methods fail to account for the increased propagation time difference between fast and slow shear-waves as they accumulate through layered media. This limitation arises because the subsurface medium in such scenarios is more accurately approximated by an orthotropic medium model. To address this challenge,shear-wave splitting analysis and correction methods based on orthotropic media have been developed and implemented. The method first determines the fracture orientation using established techniques, then separates the fast and slow shear-waves through wavefield rotation, and finally employs a matching algorithm to compute the instantaneous time difference between the fast and slow shear-waves.By introducing time-varying delay correction, this approach enables the accurate estimation of delay values that better reflect the actual properties of the subsurface medium. As a result,it enhances the precision of fracture detection in targeted formation intervals. The method has demonstrated excellent performance in both synthetic model and real-data applications.
