A female student,23 years old,suffering from multiple warts scattered on the right sole for 2 years and pain on the bottom of the first metatarsal bone when walking for 1 month.The case was diagnosed as kujinjian(枯筋...A female student,23 years old,suffering from multiple warts scattered on the right sole for 2 years and pain on the bottom of the first metatarsal bone when walking for 1 month.The case was diagnosed as kujinjian(枯筋箭)in traditional Chinese medicine and verruca plantaris in western medicine.At the beginning of treatment,fire needling therapy was applied to local lesions,once every two days.Afterwards,moxibustion with moxa cone was used at the local lesions,once a day,three cones on each lesion till warts were dropped.Simultaneously,in combination,mild moxibustion was given at bilateral Zusanli(足三里ST36)for 15 min,once a day.After three times of moxibustion therapy,a part of warts were crusted and 3 weeks later,all the warts were dropped.No recurrence was found in the follow-up visit.The therapeutic methods of this case are simple in manipulation and satisfactory in therapeutic effect.展开更多
Introduction:Verruca vulgaris is one of the most common low-risk HPV infections and is characterized by excessive proliferation of keratinocytes.Currently,very little genetic information is available regarding verruca...Introduction:Verruca vulgaris is one of the most common low-risk HPV infections and is characterized by excessive proliferation of keratinocytes.Currently,very little genetic information is available regarding verruca vulgaris in the Chinese population.This study aimed to obtain comprehensive transcript information of verruca vulgaris by RNA sequencing.Methods:High-throughput sequencing was performed on three fresh verruca vulgaris samples and adjacent normal skin on the Illumina sequencing platform.The transcriptomes were analyzed using bioinformatics and the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were verified by immunohistochemistry.Verruca vulgaris exhibited a unique molecular signature.Results:In total,1,643 DEGs were identified in verruca vulgaris compared to normal skin.The functions of the DEGs were studies by Gene Ontology(GO)enrichment,Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis,DEGs Reactome analysis,disease annotation function,and STRING protein-protein interaction(PPI)network analysis.The results revealed 595 GO terms associated with the cell cycle,signal transduction,immune system,signaling molecules,and interaction.The Reactome analysis revealed enrichment in reversible hydration of carbon dioxide and BMP signaling,while the disease annotation function revealed that the enriched DEGs are involved in keratosis disorders.The STRING PPI network showed that the edges with the highest density mainly included the 2′-5′oligoadenylate synthase(OAS)family-related proteins.Furthermore,the M-code analysis found ISG15,IRF7,and OASL were scored as significant modules and their high expression compared to the control was verified by immunohistochemistry.Conclusion:These findings contribute to the genetic information of verruca vulgaris in the Chinese population,revealing that interferon-stimulated genes may play essential roles in verruca vulgaris.展开更多
Objective:Verrucous epidermal nevus(VEN),seborrheic keratosis(SK),verruca plana(VP),verruca vulgaris(VV),and nevus sebaceous(NS)are common verrucous proliferative skin diseases with similar clinical appearances,often ...Objective:Verrucous epidermal nevus(VEN),seborrheic keratosis(SK),verruca plana(VP),verruca vulgaris(VV),and nevus sebaceous(NS)are common verrucous proliferative skin diseases with similar clinical appearances,often posing diagnostic challenges.Dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy(RCM)can aid in their differentiation,yet their specific features under these tools have not been systematically described.This study aims to summarize and analyze the dermoscopic and RCM features of VEN,SK,VP,VV,and NS.Methods:A total of 121 patients with histopathologically confirmed verrucous proliferative skin diseases were enrolled.Dermoscopy and RCM imaging was used to observe and analyze the microscopic features of these conditions.Results:Under dermoscopy,the 5 diseases displayed distinct characteristics:VEN typically showed gyriform structures;SK was characterized by gyriform structures,comedo-like openings,and milia-like cysts;VP and VV featured dotted vessels and frogspawn-like structures;NS presented as brownish-yellow globules.RCM revealed shared features such as hyperkeratosis and acanthosis across all 5 diseases.Specific features included gyriform structures and elongated rete ridges in VEN;pseudocysts and gyriform structures in SK;evenly distributed ring-like structures in VP;vacuolated cells and papillomatous proliferation in VV;and frogspawn-like structures in NS.Conclusion:These 5 verrucous proliferative skin conditions exhibit distinguishable features under both dermoscopy and RCM.The combination of these 2 noninvasive imaging modalities holds significant clinical value for the differential diagnosis of verrucous proliferative skin diseases.展开更多
