Mobile edge computing(MEC) sinks cloud services to the edge of network, which reduces the delay jitter caused by remote cloud computing. Software-defined networking(SDN) is an emerging network paradigm with the features of logic centralized control and programmability. In this paper, we construct an SDN-assisted MEC network architecture for the vehicular network. By introducing SDN controller, the efficiency and flexibility of vehicular network are improved, and the network state can be perceived from the global perspective. To further reduce the system overhead, the problem of vehicle to everything(V2X) offloading and resource allocation is proposed, where the optimal offloading decision, transmission power control, subchannels assignment, and computing resource allocation scheme are given. The optimization problem is transformed into three stages because of the heterogeneity of the offloaded tasks and the NP-hard property of the problem. Firstly, the analytic hierarchy process is used to select initial offloading node, then stateless Q-learning is adopted to allocate transmission power, subchannels and computing resources. In addition, the offloading decision is modeled as a potential game, and the Nash equilibrium is proved by the potential function construction. Finally, the numerical results show that the proposed mechanism can effectively reduce the system overhead and achieve better results compared with others’ algorithms.展开更多

In this paper, we adopt the concept of opportunistic routing and propose a multiple candidate relays opportunistic broadcast (MCROB) protocol for VANET. The MCROB protocol is a sender-driven broadcast scheme independent of node density. The packet delivery ratio (PDR) is derived and an expected transmission speed (ETS) for the MCROB is proposed. A priority rule for selecting a proper candidate relay and an adaptive algorithm for forwarding timers of candidate relays are also presented in this paper. Simulations show that MCROB is adaptive to the rapid changing of network conditions. It keeps a low communication overhead introduced by the broadcast and increases the average transmission speed by around 40%.展开更多

Message dissemination protocols are primordial for safety vehicular applications. There are two types of safety messages which may be exchanged between vehicles: alarm and beacon. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of deploying safety applications based on beacon message dissemination through extensive simulation study and pay special attention to the safety requirements. Vehicles are supposed to issue these messages periodically to announce to other vehicles their current situation and use received messages for preventing possible unsafe situations. We evaluate the performance of a single-hop dissemination protocol while taking into account the quality of service (QoS) metrics like delivery rate and delay. We realize that reliability is the main concern in beacon message dissemination. Thus, a new metric named effective range is defined which gives us more accurate facility for evaluating QoS in safety applications specifically. Then, in order to improve the performance, the effects of three parameters including vehicle's transmission range, message transmission's interval time and message payload size are studied. Due to special characteristics of the safety applications, we model the relationship between communication-level QoS and application-level QoS and evaluate them for different classes of safety applications. As a conclusion, the current technology of IEEE 802.11 MAC layer has still some challenges for automatic safety applications but it can provide acceptable QoS to driver assistance safety applications.展开更多

文摘Vehicular networks enable seamless connectivity for exchanging emergency and infotainment content. However, retrieving infotainment data from remote servers often introduces high delays, degrading the Quality of Service(QoS).To overcome this, caching frequently requested content at fog-enabled Road Side Units(RSUs)reduces communication latency.Yet,the limited caching capacity of RSUs makes it impractical to store all contents with varying sizes and popularity. This research proposes an efficient content caching algorithm that adapts to dynamic vehicular demands on highways to maximize request satisfaction. The scheme is evaluated against Intelligent Content Caching(ICC)and Random Caching(RC).The obtained results show that our proposed scheme entertains more contentrequesting vehicles as compared to ICC and RC,with 33%and 41%more downloaded data in 28%and 35%less amount of time from ICC and RC schemes, respectively.
文摘With the increasing complexity of vehicular networks and the proliferation of connected vehicles,Federated Learning(FL)has emerged as a critical framework for decentralized model training while preserving data privacy. However, efficient client selection and adaptive weight allocation in heterogeneous and non-IID environments remain challenging. To address these issues,we propose Federated Learning with Client Selection and Adaptive Weighting(FedCW),a novel algorithm that leverages adaptive client selection and dynamic weight allocation for optimizing model convergence in real-time vehicular networks.FedCW selects clients based on their Euclidean distance from the global model and dynamically adjusts aggregation weights to optimize both data diversity and model convergence.Experimental results show that FedCW significantly outperforms existing FL algorithms such as FedAvg,FedProx, and SCAFFOLD,particularly in non-IID settings, achieving faster convergence, higher accuracy, and reduced communication overhead. These findings demonstrate that FedCW provides an effective solution for enhancing the performance of FL in heterogeneous,edge-based computing environments.

文摘This paper deals with the co-design problem of event-triggered communication scheduling and platooning control over vehicular ad-hoc networks(VANETs)subject to finite communication resource.First,a unified model is presented to describe the coordinated platoon behavior of leader-follower vehicles in the simultaneous presence of unknown external disturbances and an unknown leader control input.Under such a platoon model, the central aim is to achieve robust platoon formation tracking with desired inter-vehicle spacing and same velocities and accelerations guided by the leader, while attaining improved communication efficiency.Toward this aim,a novel bandwidth-aware dynamic event-triggered scheduling mechanism is developed. One salient feature of the scheduling mechanism is that the threshold parameter in the triggering law is dynamically adjusted over time based on both vehicular state variations and bandwidth status. Then,a sufficient condition for platoon control system stability and performance analysis as well as a co-design criterion of the admissible event-triggered platooning control law and the desired scheduling mechanism are derived. Finally, simulation results are provided to substantiate the effectiveness and merits of the proposed co-design approach for guaranteeing a trade-off between robust platooning control performance and communication efficiency.

文摘As an important application scenario of 5G, the vehicular network has a huge amount of computing data, which brings challenges to the scarce network resources. Finally, the numerical results show that the proposed mechanism can effectively reduce the system overhead and achieve better results compared with others’ algorithms.

文摘In MEC-enabled vehicular network with limited wireless resource and computation resource, stringent delay and high reliability requirements are challenging issues. In order to reduce the total delay in the network as well as ensure the reliability of Vehicular UE(VUE),a Joint Allocation of Wireless resource and MEC Computing resource(JAWC)algorithm is proposed. The JAWC algorithm includes two steps:V2X links clustering and MEC computation resource scheduling. In the V2X links clustering,a Spectral Radius based Interference Cancellation scheme(SR-IC)is proposed to obtain the optimal resource allocation matrix.By converting the calculation of SINR into the calculation of matrix maximum row sum,the accumulated interference of VUE can be constrained and the the SINR calculation complexity can be effectively reduced. In the MEC computation resource scheduling,by transforming the original optimization problem into a convex problem, the optimal task offloading proportion of VUE and MEC computation resource allocation can be obtained. The simulation further demonstrates that the JAWC algorithm can significantly reduce the total delay as well as ensure the communication reliability of VUE in the MEC-enabled vehicular network.

文摘Encouraged by next-generation networks and autonomous vehicle systems, vehicular networks must employ advanced technologies to guarantee personal safety, reduce traffic accidents and ease traffic jams.By leveraging the computing ability at the network edge,multi-access edge computing(MEC)is a promising technique to tackle such challenges.Compared to traditional full offloading, partial offloading offers more flexibility in the perspective of application as well as deployment of such systems.Hence,in this paper,we investigate the application of partial computing offloading in-vehicle networks. In particular,by analyzing the structure of many emerging applications,e.g.,AR and online games,we convert the application structure into a sequential multi-component model.Focusing on shortening the application execution delay,we extend the optimization problem from the single-vehicle computing offloading(SVCOP)scenario to the multi-vehicle computing offloading(MVCOP)by taking multiple constraints into account.A deep reinforcement learning(DRL)based algorithm is proposed as a solution to this problem.Various performance evaluation results have shown that the proposed algorithm achieves superior performance as compared to existing offloading mechanisms in deducing application execution delay.

文摘Collaborative vehicular networks is a key enabler to meet the stringent ultra-reliable and lowlatency communications(URLLC)requirements.A user vehicle(UV)dynamically optimizes task offloading by exploiting its collaborations with edge servers and vehicular fog servers(VFSs).However, the optimization of task offloading in highly dynamic collaborative vehicular networks faces several challenges such as URLLC guaranteeing, incomplete information, and dimensionality curse. In this paper,we first characterize URLLC in terms of queuing delay bound violation and high-order statistics of excess backlogs. Then,a Deep Reinforcement lEarning-based URLLCAware task offloading algorithM named DREAM is proposed to maximize the throughput of the UVs while satisfying the URLLC constraints in a besteffort way.Compared with existing task offloading algorithms,DREAM achieves superior performance in throughput, queuing delay, and URLLC.

文摘With the development of the mobile communication technology,a wide variety of envisioned intelligent transportation systems have emerged and put forward more stringent requirements for vehicular communications. Most of computation-intensive and power-hungry applications result in a large amount of energy consumption and computation costs, which bring great challenges to the on-board system. It is necessary to exploit traffic offloading and scheduling in vehicular networks to ensure the Quality of Experience(QoE).In this paper,a joint offloading strategy based on quantum particle swarm optimization for the Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)enabled vehicular networks is presented. To minimize the delay cost and energy consumption,a task execution optimization model is formulated to assign the task to the available service nodes, which includes the service vehicles and the nearby Road Side Units(RSUs).For the task offloading process via Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V)communication,a vehicle selection algorithm is introduced to obtain an optimal offloading decision sequence.Next,an improved quantum particle swarm optimization algorithm for joint offloading is proposed to optimize the task delay and energy consumption. To maintain the diversity of the population, the crossover operator is introduced to exchange information among individuals.Besides, the crossover probability is defined to improve the search ability and convergence speed of the algorithm.Meanwhile,an adaptive shrinkage expansion factor is designed to improve the local search accuracy in the later iterations.Simulation results show that the proposed joint offloading strategy can effectively reduce the system overhead and the task completion delay under different system parameters.

文摘To guarantee the heterogeneous delay requirements of the diverse vehicular services,it is necessary to design a full cooperative policy for both Vehicle to Infrastructure(V2I)and Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V)links.This paper investigates the reduction of the delay in edge information sharing for V2V links while satisfying the delay requirements of the V2I links.Specifically,a mean delay minimization problem and a maximum individual delay minimization problem are formulated to improve the global network performance and ensure the fairness of a single user, respectively.A multi-agent reinforcement learning framework is designed to solve these two problems, where a new reward function is proposed to evaluate the utilities of the two optimization objectives in a unified framework.Thereafter,a proximal policy optimization approach is proposed to enable each V2V user to learn its policy using the shared global network reward. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is finally validated by comparing the obtained results with those of the other baseline approaches through extensive simulation experiments.
文摘Air pollution has become a global concern for many years.Vehicular crowdsensing systems make it possible to monitor air quality at a fine granularity. To better utilize the sensory data with varying credibility, truth discovery frameworks are introduced. However,in urban cities, there is a significant difference in traffic volumes of streets or blocks, which leads to a data sparsity problem for truth discovery.Protecting the privacy of participant vehicles is also a crucial task.We first present a data masking-based privacy-preserving truth discovery framework, which incorporates spatial and temporal correlations to solve the sparsity problem. To further improve the truth discovery performance of the presented framework,an enhanced version is proposed with anonymous communication and data perturbation. Both frameworks are more lightweight than the existing cryptography-based methods. We also evaluate the work with simulations and fully discuss the performance and possible extensions.

文摘In this paper,multi-UAV trajectory planning and resource allocation are jointly investigated to improve the information freshness for vehicular networks, where the vehicles collect time-critical traffic information by on-board sensors and upload to the UAVs through their allocated spectrum resource. We adopt the expected sum age of information(ESAoI)to measure the network-wide information freshness.ESAoI is jointly affected by both the UAVs trajectory and the resource allocation, which are coupled with each other and make the analysis of ESAoI challenging. To tackle this challenge,we introduce a joint trajectory planning and resource allocation procedure, where the UAVs firstly fly to their destinations and then hover to allocate resource blocks(RBs)during a time-slot.Based on this procedure,we formulate a trajectory planning and resource allocation problem for ESAoI minimization. To solve the mixed integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)problem with hybrid decision variables,we propose a TD3 trajectory planning and Round-robin resource allocation(TTPRRA).Specifically,we exploit the exploration and learning ability of the twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm(TD3)for UAVs trajectory planning, and utilize Round Robin rule for the optimal resource allocation. With TTP-RRA,the UAVs obtain their flight velocities by sensing the locations and the age of information(AoI)of the vehicles, then allocate the RBs to the vehicles in a descending order of AoI until the remaining RBs are not sufficient to support another successful uploading.Simulation results demonstrate that TTP-RRA outperforms the baseline approaches in terms of ESAoI and average AoI(AAoI).

文摘A primary goal of broadcasting in vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is to improve the road safety by transmitting alert messages to all surrounding vehicles as soon as possible. It keeps a low communication overhead introduced by the broadcast and increases the average transmission speed by around 40%.

文摘Determining how to structure vehicular network environments can be done in various ways. Here,we highlight vehicle networks’evolution from vehicular ad-hoc networks(VANET)to the internet of vehicles(Io Vs),listing their benefits and limitations. We also highlight the reasons in adopting wireless technologies,in particular,IEEE 802.11 p and 5 G vehicle-toeverything,as well as the use of paradigms able to store and analyze a vast amount of data to produce intelligence and their applications in vehicular environments. We also correlate the use of each of these paradigms with the desire to meet existing intelligent transportation systems’requirements. The presentation of each paradigm is given from a historical and logical standpoint. In particular, vehicular fog computing improves on the deficiences of vehicular cloud computing,so both are not exclusive from the application point of view.We also emphasize some security issues that are linked to the characteristics of these paradigms and vehicular networks, showing that they complement each other and share problems and limitations. As these networks still have many opportunities to grow in both concept and application,we finally discuss concepts and technologies that we believe are beneficial.Throughout this work,we emphasize the crucial role of these concepts for the well-being of humanity.

文摘Currently, there is a growing belief that putting an IEEE 802.11-like radio into road vehicles can help the drivers to travel more safely. As a conclusion, the current technology of IEEE 802.11 MAC layer has still some challenges for automatic safety applications but it can provide acceptable QoS to driver assistance safety applications.
