The so-called 'transfer number', which is defined as the mean numberof transfer from non-impact state to impact state per iteration, is locked onto a lot of rational values to form a curveconsisting of many steps. Our numerical investigation confirms that every step is confined by conditions created by thecollision between the periodic orbit and the discontinuous boundary of the system. After the last collision the systemshows a chaotic motion with intermittent characteristics. Therefore the staircase can be addressed as a 'prelude staircaseto type V intermittency'. The similar phenomenon has also been observed in a model of electric circuit. These resultsof our study suggest that this kind of staircases is common in two (or even higher) dimensional discontinuous maps.展开更多

It is found that the pulse splitting occurs for a smaller value of relative phase; when the value of relative phase increases to a certain value, only the variation of pulse shape is present and the pulse splitting does not occur any more; moreover, when the value of relative phase is smaller, the pulse group velocity is larger. The relative phase also has an obvious effect on population and spectral property. Different population transfers can be realized by adjusting the value of relative phase. Generally speaking, for the pulses with smaller areas their spectral strengths and frequency ranges decrease obviously with the value of relative phase increasing; for the pulses with larger areas, with value of the relative phase increasing, their spectral strengths decrease remarkably but the relative strengths of the higher frequency components increase significantly, while the spectral frequency range is not varied evidently.展开更多

Production of PBP2a is due to the presence of a gene on Staphylococcal cassette chromosome or SCC termed as “mec-A gene”. SCC is a mobile genetic element carrying many resistance genes. It is because of current antibiotic selection pressure that by now there are eight types (I - VIII) of SCCmec. This research has been designed to determine frequency of SCCmec type IV and V in clinical isolates of MRSA. A total of 70 presumptive MRSA isolates collected from a tertiary care hospital of Lahore were cultured on blood agar, incubated overnight at 37°C aerobically. Next day, they were examined for cultural characteristics, colonial morphology, gram stain, and biochemical profile. Confirmation of MRSA was done by phenotypic disk diffusion method according to (CLSI) 2013 guidelines. mecA gene was also detected at molecular level. Molecular identification of SCCmec type IV and V was done by Nested PCR strategy. A total of 50 isolates were confirmed to be MRSA Molecular detection of SCCmec type IV and V revealed that 11 isolates (22%) possess SCCmec type IV and only 2 isolate (4%) carries SCCmec type V. It is obvious from results that SCCmec type IV and V are present in our population too. Larger study (with larger sample size) might be undertaken to find out actual emergence of SCCmec type IV and V in our population.展开更多

There are many alternatives in treatment of these fractures. Aim: to evaluate the results of double plating with single anterior incision in complex proximal tibial fractures (Types V& VI of Schautzker classification). Methods and Materials: 22 patients (16 males and 6 females) with Types V and VI of Schautzker classification of proximal tibial fractures (14 cases were Type V and 8 cases were Type VI) were treated by double plating with single anterior incision method between May 2006 and May 2011. The bony and functional outcome was evaluated according to Knee Society Score. Results: According to Knee Society Score, the results were as follows: excellent in 19 patients (86.4%), good in 2 patients (9.1%), fair in 1 patient (4/5%), and poor in no patient (0%).Conclusion: the double plate fixation with single anterior incision is the best, effective and simple procedure in treatment of complex proximal tibial fractures (Types V and VI of Schautzker classification).展开更多

The breakwater is assumed to be rigid, thin, impermeable and vertically located in water of constant depth. The fluid domain is divided into three sub-regions by an imaginary interface. The velocity potential in each region is expanded by eigenfunctions. By satisfying the corresponding boundary conditions and matching conditions in and between sub-regions, a set of linear algebraic equations can be obtained to determine the unknown coefficients for the eigenfunction expansions for each sub-region. The accuracy of the present model is verified by a comparison with existing results for the case of an isolated breakwater. Numerical results, in the form of contour maps of the relative wave amplitude around the breakwater, are presented for a range of wave and breakwater parameters. The results show that the V-type bottom-mounted breakwater is generally effective in defending against waves. In general, the wave height in the protected area is about 20~50 percent of the incident wave height.展开更多

In the scheme a V-type three-level atom is sent through a two-mode cavity filled with a coherent field. After the atom cavity interaction and detection of the atomic state the cavity modes may evolve to a superposition of two-mode coherent states. As the scheme is based on resonant atom-cavity interaction, the required interaction time is short, which is important in view of the decoherence. Moreover, additional classical pulses are unnecessary before and after the atom-cavlty interaction.展开更多

We present new shear free solutions for both absence and presence of particle creation. The solution describes the particle and entropy generation in the anisotropic cosmological models. We observe that time variation of gravitational and cosmological constant is needed for particle creation phenomena. Moreover, we obtained the particle production rate Γ(t) for this model and discussed in detail.展开更多
