A water-soluble polymeric UV-absorber with polyvinylamine as backbone and benzotriazole type UV absorber as anti-UV functional group was synthesized by grafting brominated(2'-acetoxy-5'-methylphenyl)-2H-benzotriazole onto polyvinylamine. The intermediates and synthesized polymeric UV absorber were characterized by ~1H NMR,MS,IR and UV spectroscopy.The finishing properties of the polymeric UV absorber on cotton were investigated to show good UV protection property and wash fastness. 展开更多

The growing demand for polymeric materials with functional properties drives the development of nanocomposites capable of simultaneously meeting hygiene,health,and safety requirements.In this context,the present study in-vestigates the incorporation of molybdenum trioxide(MoO_(3))nanoparticles into polypropylene(PP)fibers produced by melt spinning,focusing on the evaluation of their antimicrobial,antiviral,and UV protection properties.The produced samples demonstrated significant activity against pathogenic micro-organisms such as Staphylococcusaureusand Escherichiacoli,achieving over 99% bacterial reduction with low nanoparticle content.However,the results obtained for UV protection and coronavirus activity were not satisfactory un-der the tested conditions.Further research is required in these areas to deepen the understanding and enhance performance. 展开更多

Ultraviolet(UV)radiation can cause degradation or aging of many polymers and shorten the working-life of their products.Thus,UV protective covers are required in various occasions.Textiles with the UV-shielding function possess unique properties compared with those covers in board or film shapes.TiO_2 nanoparticles(NPs),which were reported to have superior UV blocking function,can be used to produce UV protective covers in combination with fabric.However,efficient and environmentally friendly immobilization of TiO_2 Nps onto the fabrics is challenging.Polydopamine(PDA),a biomimetic synthetic polymer,has attracted great attentions recently due to its superior affinity to various materials and facile application procedure.Hence,in this research,the surface of nylon fabrics was modified by PDA to immobilizeTiO_2 NPs.Themodificationconditionswere systematically optimized.The immobilization of the NPs was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR)and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The functionalized nylon fabrics were proved to exhibit improved UV protection properties even after washing.This work provides a new and versatile surface modification technique for textiles. 展开更多

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)represent a class of multifunctional hybrid materials distinguished by their tunable structural architectures,adjustable pore dimensions,and tailorable surface chemical functionalities,which underpin their broad applicability across diverse domains.Within the cosmetics industry,MOFs exhibit significant application potential owing to their high thermal and chemical stability,substantial loading capacity,low biological toxicity,favorable luminescent characteristics,and robust catalytic activity,leading to their increasing deployment in various cosmetic-related applications.This article systematically outlines the structural features and functional properties of MOFs,emphasizing their suitability for integration into cosmetic systems.Furthermore,it provides a comprehensive review of recent advances in the utilization of MOFs in cosmetics,encompassing the detection of organic contaminants and metal ions,ultraviolet protection,encapsulation,and controlled release of volatile active ingredients,as well as targeted delivery of dermatological therapeutic agents.The structure-property-application relationships of MOFs are critically examined.Building upon the foundation of existing research,this study offers a comprehensive outlook on the future development of MOFs in the field of cosmetics.It presents several strategic perspectives,including an in-depth analysis of current application studies,the expansion of MOFs applications into additional cosmetic domains,the integration of multifunctional MOFs systems,the development of MOFs-based composite materials,and the scale-up of synthesis processes from laboratory-scale research to industrial production.It is expected that the present piece of paper can contribute valuable guidance for further exploration and practical implementation in this emerging field of cosmetics. 展开更多

With the continuous development of society,the dyeing and finishing field is transitioning towards green sustainability and multifunctionality.The main direction is to dye fabrics using natural dyes with the aid of mordants.In recent years,the technology of biological mordant dyeing with natural dyes has become a research hotspot.This paper first discusses in detail the application of biological mordant technology with natural dyes on various types of dyed fabrics,including plant fibers,animal fibers,and synthetic fibers.It then introduces the application of biological mordant dyeing with natural dyes in fields such as antibacterial and ultraviolet protection.By comparing the environmental impact and effectiveness of metal mordants versus biological mordants on dyed fabrics,the most suitable mordant is identified.Finally,the paper provides an outlook on the optimization of the dyeing process,in-depth exploration of mechanisms,rational selection of resources,and functional application trends of biological mordant technology with natural dyes,aiming to provide a reference for research directions in this field. 展开更多

Bacillus cereus 58(Bc58)is a UV-resistant wild type strain that has an ability to produce a sorrel pigment induced by L-tyrosine.The Fourier-transform infrared(FT-IR)spectra and chemical tests of its pigment are similar to that of the standard melanin(Sigma).A bioassay shows that the LC50 of a Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)formulation added with the melanin of Bc58 and exposed to UV for 5 h is 16.1μg/m1,which is similar to that of the Bt formulation without UV treatment,however,it is almost double that of the Bt formulation exposed to UV without the melanin of Bc58.The result of SDS-PAGE indicates that the melanin of Bc58 can protect the insecticidal crystal proteins from degradation.This suggests that it is an excellent UV protective agent for the insecticidal crystal proteins of the Bt formulation. 展开更多
