Linguistic Reflection on the Online Catchword of Appreciation —From the Perspective of Usage-based Language Model and Complex Adaptive System Theory

Language is a special social phenomenon and is always on the changing process with the development of society. During the evolving process of language, new language varieties will continuously emerge due to the changes of some social and cultural factors. Cyber language is universally accepted as one type of the social language varieties. Basically, cyber language can be treated as a complex adaptive system which is influenced by the interaction between users’ cognition, social culture and the surrounding environments. Thus it is safe to say that cyber language is always undergoing a dynamic evolving process. With the usage-based language model as the theoretical foundation, this paper proposes a Complex Adaptive System (CAS) approach to analyze the expression of Appreciation to explore the complex, dynamic and nonlinear development of cyber language from the angle of meaning construction, grammaticalization and functional adaption respectively. It is found that the expression of Appreciation is experiencing adaptively a semantic connotations development and a process of grammatical functions expansion as well. This paper suggests that the emergence and development of cyber language is a novel and trendy social language phenomenon. Network language can achieve its process and evolution under the huge impact of social changes and social promotions. When faced with the changing surroundings, cyber language itself enjoys a timely adaption and responsive development to keep up with the new environments, which reflects the basic principle of language development, namely, language changes with the development of society. 展开更多

This paper conducts a systematic study of the preposition“zai”in Modern Chinese from the perspective of Cognitive Grammar.By analyzing the spatial positioning function,temporal positioning function,and abstract relation expression function of“zai”,it reveals the cognitive basis of its polysemy.The study finds that the semantic network of“zai”takes the spatial concept as the core,expanding to temporal and other abstract domains through metaphorical and metonymic mechanisms.The research adopts a combined method of cognitive grammar analysis,corpus analysis,and historical comparative method.Based on a large number of actual corpus data,it systematically investigates the synchronic distribution and diachronic evolution characteristics of“zai”. 展开更多

Although the English article system is ostensibly composed of two basic forms,“a/an”and“the”actual usage demonstrates a high degree of semantic complexity and cognitive diversity.Traditional grammatical frameworks often treat article usage through a dichotomy of“specific vs.non-specific reference”,yet struggle to effectively explain numerous marginal and unconventional linguistic phenomena,such as expressions like“go to the hospital”and“a Mr.Brown”.With the development of cognitive linguistics,language is viewed as an externalization of mental activity,and the intrinsic connection between linguistic structure and cognitive mechanisms has gained increasing attention.This paper,grounded in Ronald Langacker’s Cognitive Grammar theory,systematically analyzes the semantic construction process and cognitive motivations of English articles by integrating cognitive mechanisms such as figure-ground alignment,subjectivity,and mental spaces.By combining typical sentence examples,the paper reveals the deep cognitive structures underlying article usage from the dual perspectives of semantic representation and communicative function,aiming to provide a more explanatory theoretical framework for the grammatical teaching and cognitive research of English articles. 展开更多

在互动视角下,文章以评价结构“既A又B”为例,研究了国际中文语法的用法问题。首先,从言者表达角度总结出评价结构“既A又B”两种不同语义的用法:一是表达递进义时,用于升级评价的立场表达,传达出言者对评价对象的确认情态;二是表达并... 在互动视角下,文章以评价结构“既A又B”为例,研究了国际中文语法的用法问题。首先,从言者表达角度总结出评价结构“既A又B”两种不同语义的用法:一是表达递进义时,用于升级评价的立场表达,传达出言者对评价对象的确认情态;二是表达并列义时,用于对两种动作性状的描述,常常为论证某论点服务。这两种语义用法差异的核心在于外在刺激是否触发了言者现有认知量与交际者认知量的比较,从根本上取决于言者认知是否处于更多知识即[K+]状态。其次,从听者理解角度结合话语信息结构和交际认知状态来看“既A又B”不同语义功能的浮现。这样,就从互动视角实现对评价结构“既A又B”的用法研究,从而为国际中文教育中语法的用法研究提供思路借鉴。 展开更多

彝语漫水湾话是四川安宁河谷彝族木黑苏支系使用的方言,该支系主要分布于凉山彝族自治州冕宁、西昌、喜德、越西、德昌等市县以及雅安市石棉县等地,人口约五万。对其族源与语言的研究具有重要的学术意义与现实价值。本文以冕宁县漫水湾... 彝语漫水湾话是四川安宁河谷彝族木黑苏支系使用的方言,该支系主要分布于凉山彝族自治州冕宁、西昌、喜德、越西、德昌等市县以及雅安市石棉县等地,人口约五万。对其族源与语言的研究具有重要的学术意义与现实价值。本文以冕宁县漫水湾话为研究对象,从语音、词汇、语法层面展开初步探究,发现该方言保留彝语圣乍方言、所地方言和义诺方言特征的同时,存在元音紧喉化、辅音唇齿化等特点;词汇中混合借词占比显著,反映了汉彝民族的文化交融;语法特征为SOV语序及名词修饰成分后置等,这些语言特征可为彝语支系语言比较及族群文化研究提供重要数据。 展开更多

Based on an exploratory study of data of six typical Chinese cosmetic advertising discourses, the paper claims that the distribution of mood and modality has close link with the interpersonal meaning in advertising. Since the specifications of most of the existing context-sensitive graph grammars tend to be either too intricate or not intuitive, a novel context-sensitive graph grammar formalism, called context-attributed graph grammar(CAGG), is proposed. In order to resolve the embedding problem, context information of a graph production in the CAGG is represented in the form of context attributes of the nodes involved. Moreover, several properties of a set of confluent CAGG productions are characterized, and then an algorithm based on them is developed to decide whether or not a set of productions is confluent, which provides the foundation for the design of efficient parsing algorithms. It can also be shown through the comparison of CAGG with several typical context-sensitive graph grammars that CAGG is more succinct and, at the same time, more intuitive than the others, making it more suitably and effortlessly applicable to the specification of visual languages. 展开更多

[Method] By introducing cloud model into stochastic grammar model, a machine learning algorithm suitable for the lexicalized stochastic grammar model was proposed. The word grid mode was used to extract and divide RNA sequence to acquire lexical substring, and the cloud classifier was used to search the maximum probability of each lemma which was marked as a certain sec- ondary structure type. Then, the lemma information was introduced into the training stochastic grammar process as prior information, realizing the prediction on the sec- ondary structure of RNA, and the method was tested by experiment. [Result] The experimental results showed that the prediction accuracy and searching speed of stochastic grammar cloud model were significantly improved from the prediction with simple stochastic grammar. [Conclusion] This study laid the foundation for the wide application of stochastic grammar model for RNA secondary structure prediction. 展开更多

In the real scene, the captured images come from the 3-D world. 3-D corner as a novel invariant feature is important for the image matching and the object detection, while automatically discriminating 3-D corners from ordinary corners is difficult. A novel method for 3-D corner detection is proposed based on the image graph grammar, and it can detect the 3-D features of corners to some extent.
