Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)are increasingly recognized for their pivotal role in military and civilian applications,serving as essential technology for transmitting,evaluating,and gathering information.Unfortunately,this crucial process often occurs through unsecured wireless connections,exposing it to numerous cyber-physical attacks.Furthermore,UAVs’limited onboard computing resources make it challenging to perform complex cryptographic operations.The main aim of constructing a cryptographic scheme is to provide substantial security while reducing the computation and communication costs.This article introduces an efficient and secure cross-domain Authenticated Key Agreement(AKA)scheme that uses Hyperelliptic Curve Cryptography(HECC).The HECC,a modified version of ECC with a smaller key size of 80 bits,is well-suited for use in UAVs.In addition,the proposed scheme is employed in a cross-domain environment that integrates a Public Key Infrastructure(PKI)at the receiving end and a Certificateless Cryptosystem(CLC)at the sending end.Integrating CLC with PKI improves network security by restricting the exposure of encryption keys only to the message’s sender and subsequent receiver.A security study employing ROM and ROR models,together with a comparative performance analysis,shows that the proposed scheme outperforms comparable existing schemes in terms of both efficiency and security. 展开更多

[Objectives]To investigate the effects of silicon fertilizer spraying on the growth,yield,quality,and overall benefits of rice cultivation.[Methods]A systematic experiment involving the single-spray multi-promotion technology of silicon fertilizer via unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)was conducted in three representative rice-growing areas:Ma'an Town,Shuikou Subdistrict,and Luzhou Town.[Results]The spraying of silicon fertilizer markedly enhanced the root development of rice,resulting in increased tiller number,plant height,stem thickness,panicle length,and 1000-grain weight,thereby effectively improving both yield and quality.This treatment exerted six primary beneficial effects:promoting robust and stable seedling growth,enhancing stress resistance,reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers,improving quality,increasing economic benefits,and significantly advancing ecological and social benefits.[Conclusions]The application of silicon fertilizer through spraying is an effective agronomic practice that simultaneously promotes increased rice yield,improved quality,enhanced efficiency,and the sustainable development of resources and the environment. 展开更多

Weapon-target assignment for unmanned aerial vehicles: A multi-strategy threshold public goods game approach

As a crucial process in the coordinated strikes of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs), weapon-target assignment is vital for optimizing the allocation of available weapons and effectively exploiting the capabilities of UAVs. Existing weapon-target assignment methods primarily focus on macro cluster constraints while neglecting individual strategy updates. This paper proposes a novel weapon-target assignment method for UAVs based on the multi-strategy threshold public goods game(PGG). By analyzing the concept mapping between weapon-target assignment for UAVs and multi-strategy threshold PGG, a weapon-target assignment model for UAVs based on the multi-strategy threshold PGG is established, which is adaptively complemented by the diverse cooperation-defection strategy library and the utility function based on the threshold mechanism. Additionally, a multi-chain Markov is formulated to quantitatively describe the stochastic evolutionary dynamics, whose evolutionary stable distribution is theoretically derived through the development of a strategy update rule based on preference-based aspiration dynamic. Numerical simulation results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, and the impacts of selection intensity, preference degree and threshold on the evolutionary stable distribution are analyzed. Comparative simulations show that the proposed method outperforms GWO, DE, and NSGA-II, achieving 17.18% higher expected utility than NSGA-II and reducing evolutionary stable times by 25% in large-scale scenario. 展开更多

An Infrared Small Target Detection Method for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Integrating Adaptive Feature Focusing Diffusion and Edge Enhancement

In the context of target detection under infrared conditions for drones,the common issues of high missed detection rates,low signal-to-noise ratio,and blurred edge features for small targets are prevalent.To address these challenges,this paper proposes an improved detection algorithm based on YOLOv11n.First,a Dynamic Multi-Scale Feature Fusion and Adaptive Weighting approach is employed to design an Adaptive Focused Diffusion Pyramid Network(AFDPN),which enhances the feature expression and transmission capability of shallow small targets,thereby reducing the loss of detailed information.Then,combined with an Edge Enhancement(EE)module,the model improves the extraction of infrared small target edge features through low-frequency suppression and high-frequency enhancement strategies.Experimental results on the publicly available HIT-UAV dataset show that the improved model achieves a 3.8%increase in average detection accuracy and a 3.0%improvement in recall rate compared to YOLOv11n,with a computational cost of only 9.1 GFLOPS.In comparison experiments,the detection accuracy and model size balance achieved the optimal solution,meeting the lightweight deployment requirements for drone-based systems.This method provides a high-precision,lightweight solution for small target detection in drone-based infrared imagery. 展开更多

This study compared the control effect of 110 g/L etoxazole SC,15%abamectin·etoxazole SC,30%cyetpyrafen SC,43%bifenazate SC and 1.8%abamectin EC five acaricides sprayed by unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)on Panonychus citri,aiming to screen out the appropriate acaricide for the control of this pest by UAV spraying.The results showed that 15%abamectin·etoxazole SC and 30%cyetpyrafen SC had the highest control efficacy,which remained above 90%14 d after application.Secondary performance was observed in 43%bifenazate SC and 110 g/L etoxazole SC,which demonstrated enhancing control effect.However,1.8%abamectin EC showed slower effect.Considering the control effect and population reduction rate of P.citri,15%abamectin·etoxazole SC and 30%cyetpyrafen SC were suggested as the effective acaricides for the control of this pest. 展开更多

The task assignment problem of multiple heterogeneous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), concerned with cooperative decision making and control, is studied in this paper. The heterogeneous vehicles have different operational capabilities and kinematic constraints, and carry limited resources (e.g., weapons) onboard. They are designated to perform multiple consecutive tasks cooperatively on multiple ground targets. The problem becomes much more complicated because of these terms of heterogeneity. In order to tackle the challenge, we modify the former genetic algorithm with multi-type genes to stochastically search a best solution. Genes of chromo- somes are different, and they are assorted into several types according to the tasks that must be performed on targets. Different types of genes are processed specifically in the improved genetic operators including initialization, crossover, and mutation. We also present a mirror representation of vehicles to deal with the limited resource constraint. Feasible chromosomes that vehicles could perform tasks using their limited resources under the assignment are created and evolved by genetic operators. The effect of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated in numerical simulations. The results show that it effectively provides good feasible solutions and finds an optimal one. 展开更多

To improve the spectral efficiency, non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) is adopted to integrate UAVs into the satellite network, where multiple satellites cooperatively serve the UAVs and mobile terminal using the Ku-band and above. Taking into account the rain fading and the fading correlation, the outage performance is first analytically obtained for fixed power allocation and then efficiently calculated by the proposed power allocation algorithm to guarantee the user fairness. Simulation results verify the outage performance analysis and show the performance improvement of the proposed power allocation scheme. 展开更多

This paper presents an adaptive path planner for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to adapt a real-time path search procedure to variations and fluctuations of UAVs’ relevant performances, with respect to sensory capability, maneuverability, and flight velocity limit. On the basis of a novel adaptability-involved problem statement, bi-level programming (BLP) and variable planning step techniques are introduced to model the necessary path planning components and then an adaptive path planner is developed for the purpose of adaptation and optimization. Additionally, both probabilistic-risk-based obstacle avoidance and performance limits are described as path search constraints to guarantee path safety and navigability. A discrete-search-based path planning solution, embedded with four optimization strategies, is especially designed for the planner to efficiently generate optimal flight paths in complex operational spaces, within which different surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) are deployed. Simulation results in challenging and stochastic scenarios firstly demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed planner, and then verify its great adaptability and relative stability when planning optimal paths for a UAV with changing or fluctuating performances. 展开更多

For carrier-based unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),one of the important problems is the design of an automatic carrier landing system(ACLS)that would enable the UAVs to accomplish autolanding on the aircraft carrier.However,due to the movements of the flight deck with six degree-of-freedom,the autolanding becomes sophisticated.To solve this problem,an accurate and effective ACLS is developed,which is composed of an optimal preview control based flight control system and a Kalman filter based deck motion predictor.The preview control fuses the future information of the reference glide slope to improve landing precision.The reference glide slope is normally a straight line.However,the deck motion will change the position of the ideal landing point,and tracking the ideal straight glide slope may cause landing failure.Therefore,the predictive deck motion information from the deck motion predictor is used to correct the reference glide slope,which decreases the dispersion around the desired landing point.Finally,simulations are carried out to verify the performance of the designed ACLS based on a nonlinear UAV model. 展开更多

A distributed robust method is developed for cooperative tracking control of unmanned aerial vehicles under unknown wind disturbance and model uncertainty. The communication network among vehicles is a directed graph with switching topology. Each vehicle can only share its states with its neighbors. Dynamics of the vehicles are nonlinear and affected by the wind disturbance and model uncertainty. Feedback linearization is adopted to transform the dynamics of vehicles into linear systems. To account for the wind disturbance and model uncertainty, a robust controller is designed for each vehicle such that all vehicles ultimately synchronize to the virtual leader in the three-dimensional path. It is theoretically shown that the position states of the vehicles will converge to that of the virtual leader if the communication network has a directed spanning tree rooted at the virtual leader. Furthermore, the robust controller is extended to address the formation control problem. In this paper,we investigate a formation control problem of multi-agent systems(specifically a group of unmanned aerial vehicles)based on a semi-global leader-following consensus approach with both the leader and the followers subject to input saturation.Utilizing the low gain feedback design technique,a distributed static control protocol and a distributed adaptive control protocol are constructed.The former solves the problem under an assumption that the communication network is undirected,and it depends on the global information of the graph.For the latter,we relax the undirected graph to directed graph.Moreover,an adaptive updating gain is designed to avoid using the global information of the communication network.It is shown that the consensus protocols can solve the semi-global leader-following consensus problem if the leader agent is globally reachable.The results are verified successfully by both simulation and real flight tests. 展开更多

This paper proposes a new distributed formation flight protocol for unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)to perform coordinated circular tracking around a set of circles on a target sphere.Different from the previous results limited in bidirectional networks and disturbance-free motions,this paper handles the circular formation flight control problem with both directed network and spatiotemporal disturbance with the knowledge of its upper bound.Distinguishing from the design of a common Lyapunov fiunction for bidirectional cases,we separately design the control for the circular tracking subsystem and the formation keeping subsystem with the circular tracking error as input.Then the whole control system is regarded as a cascade connection of these two subsystems,which is proved to be stable by input-tostate stability(ISS)theory.For the purpose of encountering the external disturbance,the backstepping technology is introduced to design the control inputs of each UAV pointing to North and Down along the special sphere(say,the circular tracking control algorithm)with the help of the switching function.Meanwhile,the distributed linear consensus protocol integrated with anther switching anti-interference item is developed to construct the control input of each UAV pointing to east along the special sphere(say,the formation keeping control law)for formation keeping.The validity of the proposed control law is proved both in the rigorous theory and through numerical simulations. 展开更多

This paper presents a new approach to estimate the true position of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the conditions of spoofing attacks on global positioning system (GPS) receivers. This approach consists of two phases, the spoofing detection phase which is accomplished by hypothesis test and the trajectory estimation phase which is carried out by applying the adapted particle filters to the integrated inertial navigation system (INS) and GPS. Due to nonlinearity and unfavorable impacts of spoofing signals on GPS receivers, deviation in position calculation is modeled as a cumulative uniform error. This paper also presents a procedure of applying adapted particle swarm optimization filter (PSOF) to the INS/GPS integration system as an estimator to compensate spoofing attacks. Due to memory based nature of PSOF and benefits of each particle's experiences, application of PSOF algorithm in the INS/GPS integ- ration system leads to more precise positioning compared with general particle filter (PF) and adaptive unscented particle filer (AUPF) in the GPS spoofing attack scenarios. Simulation results show that the adapted PSOF algorithm is more reliable and accurate in estim- ating the true position of UAV in the condition of spoofing attacks. This study is concerned with the H∞control for the full-envelope unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the presence of missing measurements and external disturbances. With the dramatic parameter variations in large flight envelope and the locally overlapped switching laws in flight, the system dynamics is modeled as a locally overlapped switched polytopic system to reduce designing conservatism and solving complexity. Then, considering updating lags of controller's switching signals and the weighted coefficients of the polytopic subsystems induced by missing measurements, an asynchronous H∞control method is proposed such that the system is stable and a desired disturbance attenuation level is satisfied. Furthermore, the sufficient existing conditions of the desired switched parameter-dependent H∞controller are derived in the form of linear matrix inequality (LMIs) by combining the switched parameter-dependent Lyapunov function method and average dwell time method. Finally, a numerical example based on a highly maneuverable technology (HiMAT) vehicle is given to verify the validity of the proposed method. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

Mavlink is a lightweight and most widely used open-source communication protocol used for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.Multiple UAVs and autopilot systems support it,and it provides bi-directional communication between the UAV and Ground Control Station.The communications contain critical information about the UAV status and basic control commands sent from GCS to UAV and UAV to GCS.In order to increase the transfer speed and efficiency,the Mavlink does not encrypt the messages.As a result,the protocol is vulnerable to various security attacks such as Eavesdropping,GPS Spoofing,and DDoS.In this study,we tackle the problem and secure the Mavlink communication protocol.By leveraging the Mavlink packet’s vulnerabilities,this research work introduces an experiment in which,first,the Mavlink packets are compromised in terms of security requirements based on our threat model.The results show that the protocol is insecure and the attacks carried out are successful.To overcomeMavlink security,an additional security layer is added to encrypt and secure the protocol.An encryption technique is proposed that makes the communication between the UAV and GCS secure.The results show that the Mavlink packets are encrypted using our technique without affecting the performance and efficiency.The results are validated in terms of transfer speed,performance,and efficiency compared to the literature solutions such as MAVSec and benchmarked with the original Mavlink protocol.Our achieved results have significant improvement over the literature and Mavlink in terms of security. 展开更多

This paper presents a hierarchical simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) system for a small unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) using the output of an inertial measurement unit(IMU) and the bearing-only observations from an onboard monocular camera.A homography based approach is used to calculate the motion of the vehicle in 6 degrees of freedom by image feature match.This visual measurement is fused with the inertial outputs by an indirect extended Kalman filter(EKF) for attitude and velocity estimation.Then,another EKF is employed to estimate the position of the vehicle and the locations of the features in the map.Both simulations and experiments are carried out to test the performance of the proposed system.The result of the comparison with the referential global positioning system/inertial navigation system(GPS/INS) navigation indicates that the proposed SLAM can provide reliable and stable state estimation for small UAVs in GPS-denied environments. 展开更多

In recent times,sixth generation(6G)communication technologies have become a hot research topic because of maximum throughput and low delay services for mobile users.It encompasses several heterogeneous resource and communication standard in ensuring incessant availability of service.At the same time,the development of 6G enables the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)in offering cost and time-efficient solution to several applications like healthcare,surveillance,disaster management,etc.In UAV networks,energy efficiency and data collection are considered the major process for high quality network communication.But these procedures are found to be challenging because of maximum mobility,unstable links,dynamic topology,and energy restricted UAVs.These issues are solved by the use of artificial intelligence(AI)and energy efficient clustering techniques for UAVs in the 6G environment.With this inspiration,this work designs an artificial intelligence enabled cooperative cluster-based data collection technique for unmanned aerial vehicles(AECCDC-UAV)in 6G environment.The proposed AECCDC-UAV technique purposes for dividing the UAV network as to different clusters and allocate a cluster head(CH)to each cluster in such a way that the energy consumption(ECM)gets minimized.The presented AECCDC-UAV technique involves a quasi-oppositional shuffled shepherd optimization(QOSSO)algorithm for selecting the CHs and construct clusters.The QOSSO algorithm derives a fitness function involving three input parameters residual energy of UAVs,distance to neighboring UAVs,and degree of UAVs.The performance of the AECCDC-UAV technique is validated in many aspects and the obtained experimental values demonstration promising results over the recent state of art methods. 展开更多

Recently,autonomous systems become a hot research topic among industrialists and academicians due to their applicability in different domains such as healthcare,agriculture,industrial automation,etc.Among the interesting applications of autonomous systems,their applicability in agricultural sector becomes significant.Autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)can be used for suitable site-specific weed management(SSWM)to improve crop productivity.In spite of substantial advancements in UAV based data collection systems,automated weed detection still remains a tedious task owing to the high resemblance of weeds to the crops.The recently developed deep learning(DL)models have exhibited effective performance in several data classification problems.In this aspect,this paper focuses on the design of autonomous UAVs with decision support system for weed management(AUAV-DSSWM)technique.The proposed AUAV-DSSWM technique intends to identify the weeds by the use of UAV images acquired from the target area.Besides,the AUAV-DSSWM technique primarily performs image acquisition and image pre-processing stages.Moreover,the Adam optimizer with You Only Look Once Object Detector-(YOLOv3)model is applied for the detection of weeds.For the effective classification of weeds and crops,the poor and rich optimization(PRO)algorithm with softmax layer is applied.The design of Adam optimizer and PRO algorithm for the parameter tuning process results in enhanced weed detection performance.A wide range of simulations take place on UAV images and the experimental results exhibit the promising performance of the AUAV-DSSWM technique over the other recent techniques with the accy of 99.23%. 展开更多
