Action recognition,a fundamental task in the field of video understanding,has been extensively researched and applied.In contrast to an image,a video introduces an extra temporal dimension.However,many existing action...Action recognition,a fundamental task in the field of video understanding,has been extensively researched and applied.In contrast to an image,a video introduces an extra temporal dimension.However,many existing action recognition networks either perform simple temporal fusion through averaging or rely on pre-trained models from image recognition,resulting in limited temporal information extraction capabilities.This work proposes a highly efficient temporal decoding module that can be seamlessly integrated into any action recognition backbone network to enhance the focus on temporal relationships between video frames.Firstly,the decoder initializes a set of learnable queries,termed video-level action category prediction queries.Then,they are combined with the video frame features extracted by the backbone network after self-attention learning to extract video context information.Finally,these prediction queries with rich temporal features are used for category prediction.Experimental results on HMDB51,MSRDailyAct3D,Diving48 and Breakfast datasets show that using TokShift-Transformer and VideoMAE as encoders results in a significant improvement in Top-1 accuracy compared to the original models(TokShift-Transformer and VideoMAE),after introducing the proposed temporal decoder.The introduction of the temporal decoder results in an average performance increase exceeding 11%for TokShift-Transformer and nearly 5%for VideoMAE across the four datasets.Furthermore,the work explores the combination of the decoder with various action recognition networks,including Timesformer,as encoders.This results in an average accuracy improvement of more than 3.5%on the HMDB51 dataset.The code is available at https://github.com/huangturbo/TempDecoder.展开更多

With the advent of the next-generation Air Traffic Control(ATC)system,there is growing interest in using Artificial Intelligence(AI)techniques to enhance Situation Awareness(SA)for ATC Controllers(ATCOs),i.e.,Intellig...With the advent of the next-generation Air Traffic Control(ATC)system,there is growing interest in using Artificial Intelligence(AI)techniques to enhance Situation Awareness(SA)for ATC Controllers(ATCOs),i.e.,Intelligent SA(ISA).However,the existing AI-based SA approaches often rely on unimodal data and lack a comprehensive description and benchmark of the ISA tasks utilizing multi-modal data for real-time ATC environments.To address this gap,by analyzing the situation awareness procedure of the ATCOs,the ISA task is refined to the processing of the two primary elements,i.e.,spoken instructions and flight trajectories.Subsequently,the ISA is further formulated into Controlling Intent Understanding(CIU)and Flight Trajectory Prediction(FTP)tasks.For the CIU task,an innovative automatic speech recognition and understanding framework is designed to extract the controlling intent from unstructured and continuous ATC communications.For the FTP task,the single-and multi-horizon FTP approaches are investigated to support the high-precision prediction of the situation evolution.A total of 32 unimodal/multi-modal advanced methods with extensive evaluation metrics are introduced to conduct the benchmarks on the real-world multi-modal ATC situation dataset.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of AI-based techniques in enhancing ISA for the ATC environment.展开更多
Background:Chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)is a prevalent inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal sinuses,affecting millions worldwide and significantly impacting quality of life.The pathogenesis of CRS involves co...Background:Chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)is a prevalent inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal sinuses,affecting millions worldwide and significantly impacting quality of life.The pathogenesis of CRS involves complex interactions between environmental and host factors,leading to chronic inflammation and tissue remodeling.Purpose of review:This narrative review synthesizes recent research on the predisposing factors of CRS and their potential influence on disease endotypes,aiming to enhance understanding of this multifaceted condition.Recent findings:Identified predisposing factors include allergy,asthma,immune deficiency,gastroesophageal reflux,nasal anatomical variations,microbial infections,and others.Bacteria and biofilms,particularly Staphylococcus aureus,are significant in disease onset and severity.Immune deficiency may predispose individuals to CRS,and NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease(N-ERD)is associated with more severe symptoms.Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)and primary ciliary dyskinesia(PCD)also contribute to CRS development,with PCD leading to impaired mucociliary clearance and chronic inflammation.Conclusion:CRS is a multifactorial disease with various predisposing factors influencing its development and endotypic classification.Understanding these factors and their interactions with the immune system is crucial for developing targeted treatments and improving patient outcomes.展开更多

BACKGROUND Diabetic ketoacidosis(DKA)remains a serious and potentially preventable complication among children with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),particularly in Saudi Arabia.Psychological constructs such as perceive...BACKGROUND Diabetic ketoacidosis(DKA)remains a serious and potentially preventable complication among children with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),particularly in Saudi Arabia.Psychological constructs such as perceived severity and susceptibility influence health behaviour,yet their role in pediatric diabetes management remains underexplored.AIM To examine psychological predictors of DKA in children with T1DM using the health belief model,and to assess the role of caregiver-perceived understanding in influencing adherence and DKA occurrence.METHODS A case-control study was conducted at Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh,Saudi Arabia,involving 191 caregivers of children with T1DM(96 cases with a history of DKA and 95 controls without).Validated questionnaires measured perceived severity,susceptibility,understanding,and adherence.Statistical analyses included independent t-tests,Pearson and Spearman correlations,and multiple regression.RESULTS Perceived understanding was the strongest predictor of adherence(β=1.03,P<0.001)and was inversely associated with DKA occurrence(P<0.001).Children without a DKA history had significantly higher levels of perceived understanding and adherence.Perceived severity had a moderate positive association with adherence,while perceived susceptibility showed a weak negative correlation.CONCLUSION Caregiver-perceived understanding plays a critical role in adherence and DKA prevention.These findings support expanding the health belief model to include perceived understanding as a distinct construct and highlight the importance of integrating comprehension-focused strategies into pediatric diabetes education.展开更多
Intent detection and slot filling are two important components of natural language understanding.Because their relevance,joint training is often performed to improve performance.Existing studies mostly use a joint mod...Intent detection and slot filling are two important components of natural language understanding.Because their relevance,joint training is often performed to improve performance.Existing studies mostly use a joint model of multi-intent detection and slot-filling with unidirectional interaction,which improves the overall performance of the model by fusing the intent information in the slot-filling part.On this basis,in order to further improve the overall performance of the model by exploiting the correlation between the two,this paper proposes a joint multi-intent detection and slot-filling model based on a bidirectional interaction structure,which fuses the intent encoding information in the encoding part of slot filling and fuses the slot decoding information in the decoding part of intent detection.Experimental results on two public multi-intent joint training datasets,MixATIS and MixSNIPS,show that the bidirectional interaction structure proposed in this paper can effectively improve the performance of the joint model.In addition,in order to verify the generalization of the bidirectional interaction structure between intent and slot,a joint model for single-intent scenarios is proposed on the basis of the model in this paper.This model also achieves excellent performance on two public single-intent joint training datasets,CAIS and SNIPS.展开更多

文摘With the advent of the next-generation Air Traffic Control(ATC)system,there is growing interest in using Artificial Intelligence(AI)techniques to enhance Situation Awareness(SA)for ATC Controllers(ATCOs),i.e.,Intelligent SA(ISA).However,the existing AI-based SA approaches often rely on unimodal data and lack a comprehensive description and benchmark of the ISA tasks utilizing multi-modal data for real-time ATC environments.To address this gap,by analyzing the situation awareness procedure of the ATCOs,the ISA task is refined to the processing of the two primary elements,i.e.,spoken instructions and flight trajectories.Subsequently,the ISA is further formulated into Controlling Intent Understanding(CIU)and Flight Trajectory Prediction(FTP)tasks.For the CIU task,an innovative automatic speech recognition and understanding framework is designed to extract the controlling intent from unstructured and continuous ATC communications.For the FTP task,the single-and multi-horizon FTP approaches are investigated to support the high-precision prediction of the situation evolution.A total of 32 unimodal/multi-modal advanced methods with extensive evaluation metrics are introduced to conduct the benchmarks on the real-world multi-modal ATC situation dataset.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of AI-based techniques in enhancing ISA for the ATC environment.

文摘Background:Chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)is a prevalent inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal sinuses,affecting millions worldwide and significantly impacting quality of life.The pathogenesis of CRS involves complex interactions between environmental and host factors,leading to chronic inflammation and tissue remodeling.Purpose of review:This narrative review synthesizes recent research on the predisposing factors of CRS and their potential influence on disease endotypes,aiming to enhance understanding of this multifaceted condition.Recent findings:Identified predisposing factors include allergy,asthma,immune deficiency,gastroesophageal reflux,nasal anatomical variations,microbial infections,and others.Bacteria and biofilms,particularly Staphylococcus aureus,are significant in disease onset and severity.Immune deficiency may predispose individuals to CRS,and NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease(N-ERD)is associated with more severe symptoms.Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)and primary ciliary dyskinesia(PCD)also contribute to CRS development,with PCD leading to impaired mucociliary clearance and chronic inflammation.Conclusion:CRS is a multifactorial disease with various predisposing factors influencing its development and endotypic classification.Understanding these factors and their interactions with the immune system is crucial for developing targeted treatments and improving patient outcomes.

文摘BACKGROUND Diabetic ketoacidosis(DKA)remains a serious and potentially preventable complication among children with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),particularly in Saudi Arabia.Psychological constructs such as perceived severity and susceptibility influence health behaviour,yet their role in pediatric diabetes management remains underexplored.AIM To examine psychological predictors of DKA in children with T1DM using the health belief model,and to assess the role of caregiver-perceived understanding in influencing adherence and DKA occurrence.METHODS A case-control study was conducted at Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh,Saudi Arabia,involving 191 caregivers of children with T1DM(96 cases with a history of DKA and 95 controls without).Validated questionnaires measured perceived severity,susceptibility,understanding,and adherence.Statistical analyses included independent t-tests,Pearson and Spearman correlations,and multiple regression.RESULTS Perceived understanding was the strongest predictor of adherence(β=1.03,P<0.001)and was inversely associated with DKA occurrence(P<0.001).Children without a DKA history had significantly higher levels of perceived understanding and adherence.Perceived severity had a moderate positive association with adherence,while perceived susceptibility showed a weak negative correlation.CONCLUSION Caregiver-perceived understanding plays a critical role in adherence and DKA prevention.These findings support expanding the health belief model to include perceived understanding as a distinct construct and highlight the importance of integrating comprehension-focused strategies into pediatric diabetes education.

文摘Intent detection and slot filling are two important components of natural language understanding.Because their relevance,joint training is often performed to improve performance.Existing studies mostly use a joint model of multi-intent detection and slot-filling with unidirectional interaction,which improves the overall performance of the model by fusing the intent information in the slot-filling part.On this basis,in order to further improve the overall performance of the model by exploiting the correlation between the two,this paper proposes a joint multi-intent detection and slot-filling model based on a bidirectional interaction structure,which fuses the intent encoding information in the encoding part of slot filling and fuses the slot decoding information in the decoding part of intent detection.Experimental results on two public multi-intent joint training datasets,MixATIS and MixSNIPS,show that the bidirectional interaction structure proposed in this paper can effectively improve the performance of the joint model.In addition,in order to verify the generalization of the bidirectional interaction structure between intent and slot,a joint model for single-intent scenarios is proposed on the basis of the model in this paper.This model also achieves excellent performance on two public single-intent joint training datasets,CAIS and SNIPS.
