Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is the standard treatment for early-stage gastric cancer,but the large post-operative ulcers caused by ESD often lead to serious side effects.Post-ESD mu-cosal repair materials pro...Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is the standard treatment for early-stage gastric cancer,but the large post-operative ulcers caused by ESD often lead to serious side effects.Post-ESD mu-cosal repair materials provide a new option for the treatment of post-ESD ulcers.In this study,we developed a polyurethane/small intestinal submucosa(PU/SIS)hydrogel and investigated its effi-cacy for accelerating ESD-induced ulcer healing in a canine model.PU/SIS hydrogel possessed great biocompatibility and distinctive pH-sensitive swelling properties and protected GES-1 cells from acid attack through forming a dense film in acidic conditions in vitro.Besides,PU/SIS gels present a strong bio-adhesion to gastric tissues under acidic conditions,thus ensuring the reten-tion time of PU/SIS gels in vivo.In a canine model,PU/SIS hydrogel was easily delivered via endoscopy and adhered to the ulcer sites.PU/SIS hydrogel accelerated gastric ulcer healing at an early stage with more epithelium regeneration and slight inflammation.Our findings reveal PU/SIS hydrogel is a promising and attractive candidate for ESD-induced ulcer repair.展开更多

Unlike other T cells,which promote an immune response,Tregs actively i...Since their discovery two decades ago,CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells(Tregs) have become the subject of intense investigation by immunologists. Unlike other T cells,which promote an immune response,Tregs actively inhibit inflammation when activated by their cognate antigen,thus raising hope that these cells could be engineered into a highly targeted,antigenspecific,immunosuppressant therapy. Although Tregs represent less than 10% of circulating CD4+T cells,they have been shown to play an essential role in preventing or limiting inflammation in a variety of animal models and human diseases. In particular,spontaneous intestinal inflammation has been shown to occur in the absence of Tregs,suggesting that there may be a Treg defect central to the pathogenesis of human inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). However,over the past decade,multiple groups have reported no qualitative or quantitative deficits in Tregs from the intestines and blood of IBD patients to explain why these cells fail to regulate inflammation in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. In this review,we will discuss the history of Tregs,what is known about them in IBD,and what progress and obstacles have been seen with efforts to employ them for therapeutic benefit.展开更多

This work investigated the thermo-gravimetric (TG) change and explosion resistance of ultra-low cement Al2O3 - SiO2 castables added with 0, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of 474 μm raw bauxite powders containing 72.8% Al2O3,...This work investigated the thermo-gravimetric (TG) change and explosion resistance of ultra-low cement Al2O3 - SiO2 castables added with 0, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of 474 μm raw bauxite powders containing 72.8% Al2O3, respectively. The castables were prepared using white fused alumina as aggregate, powders of white fused alumina, fused mullite,α-Al2O3 ultrafines, 3% CA cement and 5% microsilica as the matrix portion. TG change of the castables was investigated by a thermo-gravimetric analyzer for large size specimen. When the raw bauxite addition is less than 10%, the mass-losing behavior of the castables is similar to that without raw bauxite, tending to reach a constant mass around 400 ℃ , before which the mass-loss is mild and producing little destructive influence. With more than 10% raw bauxite addition, however, the mass-loss increases significantly, and the temperature to reach a constant mass increases to 600 ℃ or higher, unfavorable to structural stabilization. With the raw bauxite addition up to 20% , no negative influence on explosion resistance is found.展开更多
