Effects of Repair Grouting and Jacketing on Corrosion Concrete Using Ultrasonic Method

Concrete is one of the most important elements in building construction.However,concrete used in construction is susceptible to damage due to corrosion.The influence of corrosive substances causes changes in the reinforcing steel and affects the strength of the structure.The repair method is one approach to overcome this problem.This research aims to determine the effect of grouting and jacketing repairs on corroded concrete.The concrete used has dimensions of 15 cm×15 cm×60 cm with planned corrosion variations of 50%,60%,and 70%.The test objects were tested using the Non-Destructive Testing(NDT)method using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity(UPV).The test results show that the average speed of normal concrete is 5070 m/s,while the lowest average speed is 3070 m/s on the 70%planned corrosion test object.The test object was then given a load of 1600 kgf.At this stage,there is a decrease in speed and wave shape with the lowest average speed obtained at 2753 m/s.The repair method is an effort to restore concrete performance by using grouting and jacketing.Grouting is done by injecting mortar material into it.Jacketing involves adding thickness to the existing concrete layer with additional layers of concrete.After improvements were made,there was an improvement in the UPV test,with a peak speed value of 4910 m/s.Repairing concrete by filling cracks can improve concrete continuity and reduce waveform distortion,thereby increasing wave propagation speed. 展开更多

This study examines the effect of nanosilica(NS)additive to improve the mechanical properties of clay,clayey sand,and sand.The engineering properties of the soils were investigated through Atterberg limits,compaction,unconfined compression,ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV),freeze-thaw,and direct shear tests.The NS content varied from 0%to 0.7%and cement content was 5%and 10%by the dry weight of the soil.The curing period varied from 7 d to 150 d.The consistency,compaction,and strength properties of the soils were affected by the presence of NS and cement.The optimum NS contents in clay specimens with 5%and 10%cement were 0.5%and 0.7%,respectively.It was 0.7%in sand specimens with both cement ratios,as well as 0.3%and 0.7%in clayey sand specimens with 5%and 10%cement,respectively.In terms of freeze-thaw resistance,clayey sand specimens containing 0.5%NS and 10%cement had the minimum strength loss.Exponential relationships existed between the ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV)and the unconfined compressive strength(UCS)of soil specimens having the same curing period.The shear strength parameters of the soils also improved with the addition of NS.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)images demonstrated that cement and NS contributed to the improvement of the soils by producing a denser and more uniform structure.It was concluded that the minor addition of NS could potentially improve the geomechanical properties of the soils. 展开更多

Tensile properties of fly ash based engineered geopolymer composites(FA-EGC)at different curing ages were studied by uniaxial tensile test and ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV)methods,which included uniaxial tensile properties,the correlation between ultrasonic pulse velocity and tensile properties,and characteristic parameters of microcracks.The experimental results show that obvious strain hardening behavior can be found in FA-EGC at different curing ages.With the increase of curing age,the tensile strength increases,the tensile strain decreases and the toughness becomes worse.The UPV of FA-EGC increases with curing age,and a strong correlation can be found between tensile strength and UPV.With the increase of curing age,the average crack width of FA-EGC decreases and the total number of cracks increases.This is because the strength of geopolymer increases fast at early age,thus the later strength development of FA-EGC tend to be stable.At the same time,the bond strength between fiber and matrix,and the friction of fiber/matrix interface continue to increase with curing age,thus the bridging effect of fiber is gradually strengthened.In conclusion,the increase of curing age is beneficial to the development of tensile properties of FA-EGC. 展开更多

The ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV)correlates significantly with the density and pore size of subgrade filling materials.This research conducts numerous Proctor and UPV tests to examine how moisture and rock content affect compaction quality.The study measures the changes in UPV across dry density and compaction characteristics.The compacted specimens exhibit distinct microstructures and mechanical properties along the dry and wet sides of the compaction curve,primarily influenced by internal water molecules.The maximum dry density exhibits a positive correlation with the rock content,while the optimal moisture content demonstrates an inverse relationship.As the rock content increases,the relative error of UPV measurement rises.The UPV follows a hump-shaped pattern with the initial moisture content.Three intelligent models are established to forecast dry density.The measure of UPV and PSO-BP-NN model quickly assesses compaction quality. 展开更多

In this study, sawdust from wood species (Pinus caribaea and Eucalyptus grandis) and an agricultural waste—rice husk (Oriza sativa) were combined with Portland cement type V (high initial strength), modified by polymer styrene-butadiene (SBR) addition. Hollow blocks produced with Eucalyptus grandis and rice husk residues showed better compressive strength;however, those produced with residues derived from Pinus caribaea presented non-satisfactory results, due to the particle size that was used. 展开更多

养护条件对混凝土的硬化过程和微观孔隙结构的形成具有重要影响,而混凝土的毛细吸水性能与材料自身的孔隙结构及分布密切相关。开展了养护条件(标准、自然、浸水和密封养护)对混凝土毛细吸水性能影响的试验研究。对从混凝土方形板试件... 养护条件对混凝土的硬化过程和微观孔隙结构的形成具有重要影响,而混凝土的毛细吸水性能与材料自身的孔隙结构及分布密切相关。开展了养护条件(标准、自然、浸水和密封养护)对混凝土毛细吸水性能影响的试验研究。对从混凝土方形板试件取出的圆柱体进行了抗压强度试验,并对沿圆柱体高度方向上等厚度切割成的3个"圆饼"试件,分别进行了超声波速和孔隙率两种指标的测试。为了实现吸水观测的连续性,利用改进的混凝土吸水测重法试验装置,开展了不同养护条件下"圆饼"试件的毛细吸水试验。试验结果发现,养护条件对混凝土的抗压强度、超声波速和孔隙率具有较大影响,是决定养护过程中强度发展和内部孔隙结构及密实性的关键因素。标准养护下强度和超声波速最大,孔隙率最小;密封养护下强度和超声波速最小,孔隙率最大;自然和浸水养护试验结果接近,介于标准和密封养护两者之间。相同养护条件下,混凝土由上到下不同位置的累积吸水量、初始吸水率和孔隙率逐渐降低,超声波速则逐渐增大,说明混凝土由上到下不同位置的密实度逐渐增大。 展开更多

In this paper we proposed a modified Baer-Nunziato model for compressible multi-fluid flows,with main attention on the energy exchange between the two fluids.The proposed model consists of eleven PDEs;however,the use of the particular phase evolving variables may reduce the model to have only six PDEs.The main advantage of the model is that the Abgrall’s UPV criterion on mixture velocity and pressure is satisfied without affecting either its hyperbolicity or its conservations of the two individual masses,momentum or total energy.An Lax-Friedrichs scheme is built for a particular case of the proposed model.When the two fluids in the fluid mixture are both of the linear Mie-Gruneisen type,the scheme satisfies the Abgrall’s UPV criterion on mixture velocity and pressure.Numerical experiments with polytropic,barotropic,stiffened and van der Waals fluids show that the scheme is efficient and able to treat fluids characterized with quite different thermodynamics. 展开更多
