为了提高期刊的质量,争取早日被SCI收录,对Tsinghua Science and Technology创刊6年来刊文作者的地域分布及论文引用文献的情况进行了分析。结果表明:校内作者仍是主要的作者群,但近年来校外作者特别是国外作者的论文比例有所增加... 为了提高期刊的质量,争取早日被SCI收录,对Tsinghua Science and Technology创刊6年来刊文作者的地域分布及论文引用文献的情况进行了分析。结果表明:校内作者仍是主要的作者群,但近年来校外作者特别是国外作者的论文比例有所增加;每篇论文引用文献的平均数量不断增加,由1996年的6.9篇增加到2001年的13.4篇,并且引用外文文献的比例也在不断提高。提出,在创办高水平科技期刊过程中应主动向国际著名专家约稿,并努力实现期刊的国际化。 展开更多

On the Structure and Functions of the Multiplication Table in the Tsinghua Collection of Bamboo Slips

Among the bamboo slips dating to the Warring States period(475-221 BCE),stored at Tsinghua University,there is an aggregate of 21 specially shaped slips that are painted with red lines on the obverse side.Numbers are written on 20 slips in accordance with certain rules,and on one slip without numbers there are 20 round holes and residues of ribbon.These slips,after being compiled as a whole,serve as a practical calculator in the form of a table,which is designated as Suan Biao算表(the multiplication table).In this paper,the structure and functions of the Suan Biao are discussed by comparing it with other ancient multiplication tables.Specifically,it is noted that the core of the Suan Biao is a multiplication table comprising the numbers 9 to 1 and their products 81 to 1;the other parts are an extension of the core.The Suan Biao employs the decimal place value system and manifested the author’s knowledge of the commutative law of multiplication,the distributive law of multiplication over addition,and fractions.Not only is this table directly applicable to the multiplication of two-digit numbers,but also to division.In addition,certain computations regarding 1/2 or fractions containing 1/2 can be conducted using this table,and it may also be used for extracting roots.The Suan Biao is of great significance for research on ancient mathematics,and its discovery is enormously valuable for studies on arithmetic methods and computational tools in early China. 展开更多

Tsinghua University Library recently launched Tsinghua Wireless and Mobile Digital Library System(TWIMS) to meet users’ need for wireless access to library services.A survey of user experience about TWIMS was carried out for the purpose of studying its users’ behavior and their level of satisfaction about the system design and its various performance indicators. Based on our research findings, we concluded our research paper with a set of evaluative comments and suggestions. Those remarks are aimed at furthering the TWIMS’ functionality and reconstructing a more sensible questionnaire survey appertaining to the system users’ experience as well in the next phase of our extended research. 展开更多

Building Guastavino dome in China: A historical survey of the dome of the Auditorium at Tsinghua University 被引量:3

The Auditorium, one of the Four Grand Buildings du... Established in 1909, Tsinghua Co[lege was built on the base of a royal garden, and developed into a modern university through campus designs produced by Henry Murphy. The Auditorium, one of the Four Grand Buildings during Tsinghua's formative times, was a significant part of early construction and has become a symbol of the school. However, no thorough measuring work has ever been done to it since its completion in 1921. This paper delves into archives with combination of field survey and measurement, aiming to better understand the historical background in which the construction of the Auditorium was embedded, and technological and structural features of the Auditorium. Though the Guastavino system was indicated in the original design drawn by Murphy, concrete shell was applied in the end. The first part combs up the intellectual origins and precedents of the campus planning by Henry Murphy. As the dome is a focal point of the study, a brief course on the history of dome construction in the West is needed. The third part, based upon field measurement in July 2013, compares the actual dome with its original design featured by the Guastavino method, deducing possible reasons that resulted in the differences, including architect's unfamiliarity with Guastavino Company and its parameters, considerations about cost, and local construction tradition. 展开更多

新中国初期不同科技系统之间的关系是当代科技史研究的一个重要问题,其中,国防系统与高等院校的互动还未得到太多关注。本文以清华大学在1959—1976年开展的液浮陀螺和静电陀螺研究为例,深入分析了高校在承担与国防建设紧密相连的科研... 新中国初期不同科技系统之间的关系是当代科技史研究的一个重要问题,其中,国防系统与高等院校的互动还未得到太多关注。本文以清华大学在1959—1976年开展的液浮陀螺和静电陀螺研究为例,深入分析了高校在承担与国防建设紧密相连的科研任务过程中,与国防系统开展合作的实践情况。清华大学从1959年开始曾在海军部门资助下短暂进行过液浮陀螺研究,后于1965年开始,清华大学自主开展静电陀螺研究。国防科委在1967年开始支持清华大学等单位开展静电陀螺研究,而在第六机械工业部的实际资助下,清华大学、上海交通大学、第六机械工业部第七研究院707所和常州航海仪器厂于1970年研制出中国第一台静电陀螺原理样机。1971年开始,在第三研究院的管理资助下,清华大学得以继续静电陀螺研究,并于1975年研制出中国第一台静电陀螺三轴稳定平台。通过梳理清华大学1959—1976年的陀螺研究史,可看到中国的静电陀螺研究是在科研管理资助机构频繁变更的背景下曲折起步的。 展开更多
