Aero-propulsive coupling performance and design of distributed propulsion wing

The Distributed Propulsion Wing(DPW)presents prominent advantages in terms of energy conservation during flight,but the intense integration of propulsive internal flow with aerodynamic external flow brings significant design challenges.To tackle this issue,this paper undertakes a comprehensive investigation of the aero-propulsive coupling performance of the DPW under both hovering and cruising conditions,and subsequently proposes a multi-level collaboration optimization design method based on the decomposition principle.Specifically,the complex 3D surfaces of DPW are systematically dissociated into simple 2D curves with inherent relationships for design.The decomposition is achieved based on the analysis results of the aero-propulsive coupling characteristics.And a DPW design case is conducted and subsequently analyzed in order to further validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed design method.It is shown that a 115.75%drag reduction of DPW can be achieved at cruise under a specified thrust level.Furthermore,the DPW exhibits inherent characteristics of consistent lift-to-drag ratio with the thrust-drag balance constraint,regardless of variations in incoming flow velocity or total thrust. 展开更多

To overcome the mutual coupling (MC) of multiple antennas in millimeter wave (mmWave) communication systems, a novel beam design method with low complexity is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an equivalent channel model incorporating the effect of MC is analyzed and established, and then an optimal precoding / combiner vector for beamforming is derived. On this basis, by using greedy geometric (GG) algorithm, a novel hybrid beam design method is proposed. Finally, the performance of proposed method is analyzed and compared with other traditional ones. The simulation results show that the proposed method has better suppression of the MC effect as well as lower complexity. 展开更多

Ground source heat pump systems demonstrate significant potential for northern rural heating applications;however,the effectiveness of these systems is often limited by challenging geological conditions.For instance,in certain regions,the installation of buried pipes for heat exchangers may be complicated,and these pipes may not always serve as efficient low-temperature heat sources for the heat pumps of the system.To address this issue,the current study explored the use of solar-energy-collecting equipment to supplement buried pipes.In this design,both solar energy and geothermal energy provide low-temperature heat to the heat pump.First,a simulation model of a solar‒ground source heat pump coupling system was established using TRNSYS.The accuracy of this model was validated through experiments and simulations on various system configurations,including varying numbers of buried pipes,different areas of solar collectors,and varying volumes of water tanks.The simulations examined the coupling characteristics of these components and their influence on system performance.The results revealed that the operating parameters of the system remained consistent across the following configurations:three buried pipes,burial depth of 20 m,collector area of 6 m^(2),and water tank volume of 0.5 m^(3);four buried pipes,burial depth of 20 m,collector area of 3 m^(2),and water tank volume of 0.5 m^(3);and five buried pipes with a burial depth of 20 m.Furthermore,the heat collection capacity of the solar collectors spanning an area of 3 m^(2)was found to be equivalent to that of one buried pipe.Moreover,the findings revealed that the solar‒ground source heat pump coupling system demonstrated a lower annual cumulative energy consumption compared to the ground source heat pump system,presenting a reduction of 5.31%compared to the energy consumption of the latter. 展开更多

Kinematically Coupled Multi-Output Component Mechanism Design for Rehabilitation Robots

Aiming at the innovative design requirements of rehabilitation robots with multiple kinematically coupled components and the current absence of systematic processes in the design of such mechanisms,this paper presents the concept of a multi-output component mechanism(MOCM).A classification methodology for the MOCM is proposed based on the operational coupling between the actuators and the output components within closedloop mechanisms.Building on the classification results,a design methodology for a kinematically coupled MOCM(KCMOCM)is proposed based on the actuation distribution within the closed-loop sub-mechanisms.First,the number and relative kinematic characteristics of the output components are determined based on the application environment of the mechanism.These components are then grouped and classified according to motion similarity principles,followed by the design of closed-loop sub-mechanisms with actuators for each group,ultimately forming a complete KCMOCM.Taking the sit-stand-lie-bed mechanism in a spinal cord injury lower-limb rehabilitation robot as an example,this study comprehensively considers the multi-posture transition task requirements and spatial constraint characteristics of lower-limb rehabilitation training to design the mechanism.By applying the mechanism design methodology,six practical novel configurations are developed with established evaluation criteria,and kinematic analysis and experimental validation are performed on the optimized configuration.The results demonstrate that the optimized configuration satisfies the multi-posture rehabilitation training requirements for lower limbs.This validates the efficacy of the design methodology.Furthermore,the scalability of the design methodology is validated through the development of a robotic finger rehabilitation mechanism. 展开更多

Tower, Spar platform and mooring system are designed in the project based on a given 6-MW wind turbine. Under wind-induced only, wave-induced only and combined wind and wave induced loads, dynamic response is analyzed for a 6-MW Spar-type floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) under operating conditions and parked conditions respectively. Comparison with a platform-fixed system (land-based system) ofa 6-MW wind turbine is carried out as well. Results demonstrate that the maximal out-of-plane deflection of the blade of a Spar-type system is 3.1% larger than that of a land-based system; the maximum response value of the nacelle acceleration is 215% larger for all the designed load cases being considered; the ultimate tower base fore-aft bending moment of the Spar-type system is 92% larger than that of the land-based system in all of the Design Load Cases (DLCs) being considered; the fluctuations of the mooring tension is mainly wave-induced, and the safety factor of the mooring tension is adequate for the 6-MW FOWT. The results can provide relevant modifications to the initial design for the Spar-type system, the detailed design and model basin test of the 6-MW Spar-type system. 展开更多

The geometry of an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) etcher is usually considered to be an important factor for determining both plasma and process uniformity over a large wafer. During the past few decades, these parameters were determined by the "trial and error" method, resulting in wastes of time and funds. In this paper, a new approach of regression orthogonal design with plasma simulation experiments is proposed to investigate the sensitivity of the structural parameters on the uniformity of plasma characteristics. The tool for simulating plasma is CFD-ACE+, which is commercial multi-physical modeling software that has been proven to be accurate for plasma simulation. The simulated experimental results are analyzed to get a regression equation on three structural parameters. Through this equation, engineers can compute the uniformity of the electron number density rapidly without modeling by CFD-ACE+. An optimization performed at the end produces good results. 展开更多

Rail vehicles generate huge longitudinal impact loads in collisions.If unreasonable matching exists between the compressive strength of the intermediate coupler and the structural strength of the car body,the risk of car body structure damage and train derailment will increase.Herein,a four-stage rigid-flexible coupling finite element model of the coupler is established considering the coupler buckling load.The influence of the coupler buckling load on the train longitudinal-vertical-hori-zontal buckling behavior was studied,and the mechanism of the train horizontal buckling instability in train collisions was revealed.Analysis results show that an intermediate coupler should be designed to ensure that the actual buckling load is less than the compressive load when the car body structure begins to deform plastically.The actual buckling load of the coupler and the asymmetry of the structural strength of the car body in the lateral direction are two important influencing factors for the lateral buckling of a train collision.If the strength of the two sides of the car body structure in the lateral direction is asymmetrical,the deformation on the weaker side will be larger,and the end of the car body will begin to deflect under the action of the coupler force,which in turn causes the train to undergo sawtooth buckling. 展开更多

Suppressed formation of CO_2 and H_2O in the oxidative coupling of methane over La_2O_3/MgO catalyst by surface modification

Oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) is a promising way to convert methane into C2 hydrocarbons.However,CO2 and H2O are by-products of the reaction.To utilize the higher activity of lanthanum oxide and save its usage,MgO supported La2O3 catalyst was prepared.Surface modification of the catalyst with nitric acid was made to suppress the formation of the by-products.Experimental results indicated that the addition of nitric acid increased the surface oxygen species with binding energy of ca.531.7 eV and at the same time reduced the pore volume of the catalyst.These effects of nitric acid finally led to the increase of C2 selectivity and the decrease of the by-products formation.Hydrogen selectivity was found about 14%-18% over the catalysts adopted in this work. 展开更多

It is important to improve the development efficiency of decoupling a coupling task package according to the information relevancy relation between development tasks in the collaborative development process of complicated electronic products.In order to define the task coupling model in the development process,the weighted directed graph based on the information relevancy is established,and the correspondence between weighted directed graph model and numerical design structure matrix model of coupling tasks is introduced.The task coupling model is quantized,thereby the interactivity matrix of task package is built.A multi-goal task decoupling method based on improved genetic algorithm is proposed to decouple the task coupling model,which transforms the decoupling of task package into a multi-goal optimization issue.Then the improved genetic algorithm is used to solve the interactivity matrix of coupling tasks.Finally,the effectiveness of this decomposition method is proved by using the example of task package decoupling of collaborative development of a radar’s phased array antenna. 展开更多

Based on the principle that the thermal expansion coefficient of the support structure should match that of the mirror, three schemes of primary mirror assembly were designed. Of them, the first is fused silica mirror plus 4J32 flexible support plus ZTC4 support back plate, the second K9 mirror plus 4J45 flexible support plus ZTC4 support back plate, and the third SiC mirror plus SiC rigid support back plate. A coupled thermo-mechanical analysis of the three primary mirror assemblies was made with finite element method. The results show that the SiC assembly is the best of all schemes in terms of their combination properties due to its elimination of the thermal expansion mismatch between the materials. The analytical results on the cryogenic property of the SiC primary mirror assembly show a higher surface finish of the SiC mirror even under the cryogenic condition. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel fibre structure aiming at distributed temperature and strain sensing. Utilizing Al2O3 and CeO2 as dopants to form a w-shaped acoustic waveguide, it realizes modal coupling between longitudinal acoustic modes of its inner and outer core layers, leading to a dual-peak or multi-peak Brillouin gain spectrum. The relationship between the acoustic mode coupling properties and the fibre materials, doping concentrations and structural parameters are investigated, showing that the positions of mode coupling points in acoustic dispersion curves and the coupling intensities can be designed flexibly. A specific fibre design for the discriminative sensing of temperature and strain under a pump wavelength of 1.55 μm is given. The responses of its Brillouin gain properties on temperature and strain are analysed theoretically, demonstrating its potential for distributed fibre Brillouin sensing. 展开更多

In the last few years, there have been important new insights into the structural biology of G-protein coupled receptors. It is now known that allosteric binding sites are involved in the affinity and selec- tivity of ligands for G-protein coupled receptors, and that signaling by these receptors involves both G-protein dependent and independent pathways. The present review outlines the physiological and pharmacological implications of this perspective for the design of new drugs to treat disorders of the central nervous system. Specifically, new possibilities are explored in relation to allosteric and or- thosteric binding sites on dopamine receptors for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, and on muscarinic receptors for Alzheimer's disease. Future research can seek to identify ligands that can bind to more than one site on the same receptor, or simultaneously bind to two receptors and form a dimer. For example, the design of bivalent drugs that can reach homo/hetero-dimers of D2 dopa- mine receptor holds promise as a relevant therapeutic strategy for Parkinson's disease. Regarding the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, the design of dualsteric ligands for mono-oligomeric mus- carinic receptors could increase therapeutic effectiveness by generating potent compounds that could activate more than one signaling pathway. 展开更多

There is a certain coupling relationship among the main circuit parameters of a single-phase shunt active power filter(SAPF),which has a great influence on the reasonable selection of various parameter values.By analyzing the calculation methods of the inductance of alternating current(AC)side and the voltage and capacitance values of direct current(DC)side in the existing single/three-phase SAPF main circuit,a specific single-phase SAPF circuit parameter analytical expression was obtained.Aiming at the coupling relationship among the variables in the resulting expression,the model was optimized and analyzed in MATLAB,and a complete set of parameters design scheme was obtained,which ensure the comprehensive optimization target of the post-harmonic content below 2%is compensated under a specific load.The simulation and experimental procedures verify the correctness of the selected parameters. 展开更多

In the process of radar data acquisition,limited amount of information can be provided to post-processing interpretation by the data acquisition method of single-input and single-output,however,the location and physical parameter information of geological body can be obtained more accurately by using Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO)antenna with multiple transmitters and multiple receivers.Especially when collecting borehole radar data and the aperture is very narrow,but the antenna is required to be able to ensure better results in a larger frequency band,therefore,the size of the antenna will be greatly challenged.Meanwhile,the close arrangement of multiple transmitting and receiving antennas will inevitably affect the signal radiation.Based on the borehole radar,this paper simulates and optimizes the Single-Input Multi-Output antenna(SIMO antenna),the size of which meets the aperture requirements,using HFSS antenna simulation software,and explores the factors affecting the antenna return loss and isolation.Among them,the radius of the dipole has little effect on the return loss and isolation,whereas increasing the number of receiving antennas or increasing the transceiver distance will significantly affect the antenna coupling,with a significant reduction in the amplitude of isolation. 展开更多

This paper provides a solution for the design optimization of two-dimensional impedance structures for a given elec-tromagnetic field distribution. These structures must provide electromagnetic compatibility between antennas located on a plane. The optimization problem is solved for a given attenuation of the complete field. Since the design optimiza-tion gives a complex law of impedance distribution with a large real part, we employ the method of pointwise synthesis for the optimization of the structure. We also consider the design optimization case where the structure has zero im-pedance on its leading and trailing edges. The method of moments is used to solve the integral equations and the nu-merical solution is presented. The calculated impedance distribution provides the required level of antenna decoupling. The designs are based on the concept of soft and hard surfaces in electromagnetics. 展开更多
