A fine-grained TiAl alloy with a composition of Ti-45Al-2Cr-2Nb-1B-0.5Ta-0.225Y (mole fraction, %) was prepared by double mechanical milling(DMM) and spark plasma sintering(SPS). The relationship among sintering temperature, microstructure and mechanical properties was studied. The results show that the morphology of double mechanical milled powder is regular with size in the range of 20-40 μm and mainly composed of TiAl and Ti3Al phases. The main phase TiAl and few phases Ti3Al, Ti2Al and TiB2 were observed in the SPSed alloys. For samples sintered at 900 ℃ the equiaxed crystal grain microstructure is achieved with size in the range of 100-200 nm. With increasing the SPS temperature from 900 ℃to 1000 ℃ the size of equiaxed crystal grain obviously increases, the microhardness decreases from HV658 to HV616, and the bending strength decreases from 781 MPa to 652 MPa. In the meantime, the compression fracture strength also decreases from 2769 MPa to 2669 MPa, and the strain to fracture in compression increases from 11.69% to 17.76%. On the base of analysis of fractographies, it shows that the compression fracture transform of the SPSed alloys is intergranular rupture. 展开更多

The effects of Ni addition on solidification micro structure and tensile properties of Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) equipped with energy-dispersive spectroscope(EDS) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Results show that with 3 at%Ni addition,the as-cast micro structure is mainly composed of fine lamellar colonies(~50 μm),γ grains and Ni-ridied τ_3 phase.After heat treatment at 1380℃,the Ni-containing alloy is characterized by fine fully lamellar micro structure(~90 μm).The heat-treated Ni-containing specimen exhibits superior room temperature tensile properties than other specimens.The tensile properties are discussed in light of the microstructure evolution and role of Ni-riched τ_3 phase. 展开更多

Three novel multi-microalloying TiAl-based alloys containing high Nb were designed and fabricated Thermogravimetric method was applied to investigate the influence of Cr on the oxidation behavior of high Nb TiAl alloy at 1,073 K for 200 h in laboratory air. The 2 at.% and 4 at.% Cr were added into the alloy,(respectivel named 2 Cr and 4 Cr compared to the Cr-free ternary alloy, 0 Cr alloy). The alloys' microstructure and compositio as well as the composition distribution of the oxidation scale were analyzed by means of Scanning Electro Microscopy(SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS), and X-Ray Diffractometry(XRD). The results show that the addition of Cr decreases the grain size of the Nb-TiAl alloy and leads to a transformation from a full lamellar structure to a nearly fully lamellar structure. When oxidized at 1,073 K for 200 h, the oxidized mass gai of the alloy increases with an increase in Cr addition amount in the first 100 h and decreases in the last 100 h With the increase of Cr content, the oxidation surface turns compact but uneven in morphology, which may affec the oxidation resistance of the alloy by increasing the peeling off risk of the oxidation layer at friction conditions. 展开更多

Microstructure and phase transformation of Ti46Al8Nb0.5B0.2C alloy have been investigated.X-ray diffraction (XRD),optical microscopy (OM),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results show that as-cast and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) alloy mainly composed of γ and α 2 phase have fully lamellar microstructure with point-like or ribbon-like TiB 2 distributing in lamellar colony or at grain boundary.The mean size of lamellar colony is about 150 and 450 μm for as-cast and HIP alloy,respectively.The lamellar spacing is about 550 and 600 nm for as-cast and HIP alloy,respectively.It has been found that cooling rates and quenching temperatures have significant effect on phase transformation of Ti46Al8Nb0.5B0.2C alloy.When the alloy is treated at 1380℃ for 1 h and cooled from α domain,water cooling leads to complete α → α 2 transformation,oil cooling leads to predominant α → α 2 and part α → γ m transformation,air cooling leads to α → α + γ p2 →L(α + γ) →L(α 2 + γ) transformation,and furnace cooling leads to α → α + γ p3 →L(α + γ) →L(α 2 + γ) transformation.However,when the alloy is treated at 1400℃ for 1 h and cooled from α domain,water cooling leads to predominant α → α 2 and part α → α + γ p4 → γ m transformation,oil cooling leads to α → α + γ p5 → γ m transformation,air cooling leads to α → α + γ p6 →L(α + γ) →L(α 2 + γ) transformation,and furnace cooling leads to α → α + γ p7 →L(α + γ) →L(α 2 + γ) transformation.Microstructural evolution of the alloy during various heat treatments has been examined and the phase transformation mechanisms have been elucidated.Based on the experimental observation,schematic CCT diagrams for the alloy have been given. 展开更多

Microstructure and fatigue properties of TiAlbased alloys with different W contents were investigated.The results indicate that the grain size and lamellar spacing can be significantly refined,and the optimal W content on both the microstructure and fatigue property is about1.00 at%.The amount of B2(ω) phase gradually increases with the increase in W content,and excessive B2(ω) phase located in the boundary of lamellar colony trends to be the weak region with low resistance against crack propagation.Another result is that with the increase in W content,the region of peritectic reaction is also enlarged.The interdendritic Al-rich region is another weak region against crack propagation.Both of these effects are responsible for the worse fatigue property of Ti-45.1Al-5Nb-1.40W-1.4B W alloy compared with that of Ti-45.7Al-5Nb-0.75W-1.4B alloy.Instability of fatigue property still exists,but it slightly reduces with the decrease in grain size and lamellar spacing. 展开更多

The analysis of the microstructural characterization and phase composition of electron beam welded joint zones of Ti- 43Al-9V-O. 3Y alloy has been done in this study. The welded seam is mainly composed of B2 phase, the partial γ + α2 twophase lamellar structure and granular γm phase. And the lanthanon Y existed as YAl2 phase and served as grain refined. The impact of different cooling rates on joint microstructure, fracture characteristic and tensile strength were investigated. The high cooling rate restrained the structural transformation and resulted in the ordering structure. The fracture of the joint was brittle cleavage fracture because the ordering structure went against restraining the crack propagation. With the decrease of cooling rate, the transformation amounts of lamellar structure increased, and the fracture presented the layered and crosslayered characteristic. 展开更多

TiAI-based alloys with various compositions (including Ti-48Al, Ti-47Al-2Cr-2Nb, Ti-47Al-2Cr-2Nb-0.2B and Ti-47Al-3Cr, in mole fraction) had been prepared by elemental powder metallurgy (EPM). The results have shown that the density of the prepared Ti-48AI alloy increases with increasing hot pressing temperature up to 1300℃. The Ti-48AI alloy microstructure mainly consisted of island-like Ti3Al phase and TiAl matrix at hot pressing temperature below 1300℃, however, coarse α2/γ lamellar colonies and γ grains appeared at 1400℃. It has also indicated that the additions of elemental Cr and B can refine the alloy microstructure. The main microstructural inhomogeneity in EPM TiAI-based alloys was the island-like α2 phase or the aggregate of α2/γ lamellar colony, and such island-like structure will be inherited during subsequent heat treatment in (α+γ) field. Only after heat treatment in a field would this structure be eliminated. The mechanical properties of EPM TiAl-based alloys with various compositions were tested, and the effect of alloy elements on the mechanical properties was closely related to that of alloy elements on the alloy microstructures. Based on the above results, TiAI-based alloy exhaust valves were fabricated by elemental powder metallurgy and diffusion joining. The automobile engine test had demonstrated that the performance of the manufactured valves was very promising for engine service. 展开更多

The microstructure of the siliconized coating on the TiAl-based alloy was analyzed and its effect on oxidation resistance was investigated. The specimens before and after cycle oxidation were examined by XRD and SEM equipped with XEDS. The results showed that the coating is composed of a thin Al2O3 outer layer and a composite inner layer of Ti5Si3 with an appropriate amount of Al2O3 dispersed in. Cycle oxidation tests showed that the high temperature oxidation resistance of TiAl-based alloy was greatly improved by forming such composite coating. No spaliation and crack happened and the weight gain was very small after cycle oxidation at 900℃ for 314h. 展开更多

The TiAl-based laminated composite sheet of 150 mm × 100 mm × 0.2 mm, with 24 TiAl layers and 23 Nb layers laid alternately one on another, was successfully fabricated using the electron beam-physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) method. The microstructure and properties of the sheet were investigated on an atomic force microscope (AFM), a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a tensile testing machine. The results indicate that the evenly distributed Nb layers are well joined with the TiAl layers, and the interfaces between layers are transparent, and every interlayer spacing is of about 8μm. The fractures appear to be a mixture of intergranular fractures and somewhat ductile quasi-cleavage ones. Despite its slight influence on ultimate tensile strength, the inserts of Nb layers efficiently increase the room temperature ductility of TiAl-based alloys due to the crack deflection effect. 展开更多

TiAl-based alloys sheet with thickness of 0.3-0.4 mm as well as dimension of 150 mm×100 mm was fabricated successfully by using electron beam-physical vapor deposition(EB-PVD) method. The microscopic morphology and phase composition of specimens in various states were analyzed by atomic force microscope(AFM), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and X-ray diffractometer(XRD), respectively. The results indicate that the as-deposited TiAl-based alloys sheet has good surface quality and is composed of γ, α2 and τ phase. There is natural delamination inside the sheet, of which the microstructure is columnar crystal, and the component shows a gradient change along the normal direction of substrate. After the vacuum hot pressing treatment and subsequent homogenization treatment, the columnar crystal transforms into the coarse fully lamellar microstructure, the delamination phenomenon and τ phase disappear, α2 phase decreases obviously, and the composition tends to uniformization. 展开更多

Vacuum diffusion bonding of a TiAl based alloy (TAD) to a titanium alloy (TC2) was carried out at 1 273 K for 15~120 min under a pressure of 25 MPa . The kinds of the reaction products and the interface structures of the joints were investigated by SEM, EPMA and XRD. Based on this, a formation mechanism of the interface structure was elucidated. Experimental and analytical results show that two reaction layers have formed during the diffusion bonding of TAD to TC2. One is Al rich α(Ti)layer adjacent to TC2,and the other is (Ti 3Al+TiAl)layer adjacent to TAD,thus the interface structure of the TAD/TC2 joints is TAD/(Ti 3Al+TiAl)/α(Ti)/TC2.This interface structure forms according to a three stage mechanism,namely(a)the occurrence of a single phase α(Ti)layer;(b)the occurrence of a duplex phase(Ti 3Al+TiAl)layer;and(c)the growth of the α(Ti)and (Ti 3Al+TiAl)layers. 展开更多

From these results, the stress state of a given phase in a duplex TiAl based alloy under a uniaxial tensile loading has been characterized by X ray diffraction. The results show that the X ray elastic constants and the microscopic stresses of the given phase are different from the apparent elastic constants and the macroscopic stresses of the alloy. Ti-Al-based intermetallic compounds are promising candidates for high-temperature structural applications owing to their outstanding mechanical prop-erties.Ti_(2)AlNb alloys,characterized by complex multiphase microstructures,present significant challenges for hot deformation modeling because of their atypical flow behavior and sensitivity to processing conditions.In this study,we systematically investigated the hot deformation behavior of Ti_(2)AlNb through ex-periments and compared conventional constitutive models with advanced machine learning approaches.The conventional strain-compensated Sellars(SCS)model showed limited accuracy for Ti_(2)AlNb,especially across complex microstructural transitions,while performing well for simpler alloy systems like Ti4822.To address these limitations,we developed a dynamic physics-guided neural network(DPGNN)that integrates physical constraints with data-driven learning via an adaptive gating mechanism.The DPGNN model significantly outperformed the SCS model and three purely data-driven baselines,achieving high accuracy(test R^(2)>0.98)and robust generalization across both Ti_(2)AlNb and Ti4822 alloys.These findings highlight the value of embedding physical principles within machine learning frameworks,providing a robust and generalizable too1 for predicting hot deformation behavior in advanced alloys. 展开更多

Regarding the metallurgical considerations and the melting points of Ti-Mn-Fe eutectic alloy and Ni-Co-V ternary alloy,a Ti-Mn-Fe-Ni-Co-V senary system filler metal was proposed for joining TiAl-based alloy.The senary filler alloy consisted of TiFe,TiMn and Ti-based solid solution phases.It exhibited the liquidus temperatures of 1110.8℃and a contact angle of 37°on TiAl alloy after heating at 1110℃for 10 min.The brazed joint was composed of B2,γ-TiAl andα_(2)-Ti_(3)Al as well as residual brazing filler reaction phase.With increasing brazing temperature or prolonging dwell time,joint thickness andγ-TiAl phase volume fraction increased.The brazing condition of 1180℃/45 min gave theγ-TiAl phase content of 21.6 vol.%within the joint and the joint thickness of 270μm,and the maximum joint tensile strength reached 488 MPa at ambient temperature,with the joint strength coefficient of 82.7%.The joints offered tensile strength of 521 MPa at 700℃and 498 MPa at 800℃,corresponding to the joint strength coefficient of 85.1%and 96.3%,respectively.In this case,the joint fractured at the brazing seam with a flexural morphology,leading to the im-provement of joint strength.The typical composition within the joint was characterized by 0.47-2.09 at.%Fe,1.15-2.11 at.%Mn,0.08-0.59 at.%Ni,0.03-0.25 at.%Co and 0.15-0.35 at.%V,and these alloying elements had a positive strengthening effect on the brazed joint. 展开更多

TiAl基合金以其低密度、高比强度、耐烧蚀、良好的高温力学性能等优点成为新型轻质高温结构候选材料,自20世纪70年代以来备受关注。随着各种强韧化措施的研究不断深入,TiAl基合金的室温脆性问题逐步得到了解决。TiAl基合金成功应用于航空发动机叶片、航天飞行器蒙皮、舵翼、汽车排气阀等。然而,TiAl基合金高温抗氧化性能不足,限制了其作为高温零部件的应用。目前,主要通过整体合金化以及表面改性两种方式来改善TiAl基合金的高温抗氧化性能。整体合金化是在合金中添加Nb、Si、Mo、W、稀土等合金元素,促使合金表面形成致密的氧化层并提高氧化层与基体的结合力;表面改性主要包括表面合金化和表面涂层两种途径,表面合金化技术一般采用热扩散、离子注入、预氧化、激光表面合金化等方法,表面涂层技术是利用不同种类的涂层改善基体的表面性能,例如Ti-Al-X体系涂层、MCrAlY热障涂层、陶瓷涂层、复合涂层。热障涂层,作为一种表面改性中的涂层材料,具有优异的抗氧化性能以及长期服役性能。当应用于TiAl基合金表面时,热障涂层能够有效提升合金的高温抗氧化性能。但两者结合也存在如下问题,热生长氧化物的过度生长导致界面失效,以及涂层与基体元素互扩散严重,导致热障涂层/TiAl合金体系长期服役性能减弱。本文归纳并分析了TiAl基合金的高温氧化行为,分别从整体合金化以及表面改性两个方面综述了TiAl基合金高温防护的影响因素和作用机理,分析了热障涂层应用在TiAl合金表面所面临的问题并提出了改进方案,以期为提高TiAl基合金的抗高温氧化性能及发展热障涂层/TiAl合金体系提供参考。 展开更多

TiAl基合金已广泛应用于航空航天和汽车发动机领域,然而Ti Al基合金在800℃高温环境下抗氧化性不足,制备Ti-Al-Si涂层是提高TiAl合金高温抗氧化性的一种有效方法。以五种不同比例的粉、铝粉作为渗剂,利用固体粉末包埋渗技术在TiAl合金表面制备不同组成的硅铝共渗涂层,研究不同涂层在800℃高温下的抗氧化性能。结果表明:硅铝共渗制备的涂层由TiAl_(2)过渡层和TiAl_(3)外层组成,外层下方镶嵌着白色的Ti_(5)Si_(3)相。随着渗剂中Al元素含量的减少,渗层厚度减少,Ti_(5)Si_(3)相增多,过渡层厚度增加。涂层在800℃高温下为合金提供了良好的保护效果,氧化后涂层由外到内为Al_(2)O_(3)层、TiAl_(3)层以及TiAl_(2)层。随着渗剂中Al元素含量的增加,TiAl合金高温氧化增重逐渐减少,抗氧化性能得到提高,这主要得益于致密Al_(2)O_(3)氧化膜的形成。研究结果可为TiAl合金高温抗氧化涂层的制备提供支持。 展开更多

随着高性能航空发动机制造用材料与连接技术的不断革新,镍基高温合金以其优异的高温性能获得广泛关注和应用。TiAl系合金作为新型轻质高温材料,在航空航天领域应用潜力巨大。为满足轻量化发展的迫切需求,实现其与镍基高温合金之间的良... 随着高性能航空发动机制造用材料与连接技术的不断革新,镍基高温合金以其优异的高温性能获得广泛关注和应用。TiAl系合金作为新型轻质高温材料,在航空航天领域应用潜力巨大。为满足轻量化发展的迫切需求,实现其与镍基高温合金之间的良好连接势在必行。针对两者因物化性能差异而导致的焊接难题,本文综述了采用熔焊、钎焊、扩散焊及摩擦焊连接时异质金属接头的显微组织、力学性能和断裂机理。熔焊方法灵活、适应性强,但由于不均匀加热等问题接头易形成裂纹,劣化力学性能。钎焊是两类合金连接应用很广泛的焊接方法,目前钎料多以焊缝高熵的理念设计为多主元成分,常温剪切性能已接近母材强度。扩散焊的研究主要集中于中间层设计及工艺窗口建立等方面,其接头具有变形小和强度高等特点,适用于精密复杂结构的连接。采用摩擦焊方式时,焊后界面良好、没有明显裂纹等缺陷,但界面处产生的脆性相同样会恶化接头的力学性能。综上,为解决TiAl系合金和镍基高温合金的连接难题,抑制脆性相的形成和保证良好的冶金结合非常关键,这对于推动TiAl系合金和镍基高温合金的可靠应用意义重大。 展开更多
