CNTs dispersed uniformly on the surface of Till2 particles and few defects were found in the tubular structure of the CNTs. According to DTA analysis, CNTs do not react with the base material Ti under 1 200 ~C. In order to investigate the application of CNTs/ Till2 powders in brazing, CNTs/TiH2 powders were mechanically mixed with Ni powders to develop a new type of brazing powder, and wetting experiments at 1 100 ~C showed a good wettability of CNTs/TiNi brazing powder.展开更多

Although the minor addition of Nb to the Ti-Cu- Zr-Fe-Sn-Si-Ag BMG slightly decreases the glass-forming ability (GFA), the Nb-bearing Ti-based alloys could be casted in a bulk glassy rod form with diameters up to 3 mm. It is found that partial substitution of Cu with Nb is effective on enhancing the bio-corrosion resistance of the Ti-based BMG. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements show that Nb addition to Ti-based BMG leads to higher open-circuit potential and pitting potential as well as lower passive current density in Hank's solution. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results indicate that with Nb content increasing, the charge transfer resistance values of the Ti-based BMGs become larger, demonstrating that the surface oxide films are more protective. The Nb-bearing Ti-based BMGs also exhibit good in vitro biocompatibility comparable to that of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The enhanced bio-corrosion resistance, excellent in vitro biocompatibility and good mechanical properties of the Nb-bearing Ti-based BMGs are favorable for biomedical applications.展开更多

The shear strength of Ti-14Al-21Nb-3Mo-V alloy diffusion bonding joint under pressure of 12 MPa at 990℃ for 70 min was obtained to 797.6 MPa which approaches the base material strength. In addition, a short-time diffosion bonding process was studied in order to decrease the bonding cost. With the deformation of the specimens of 2.5% and the bonding temperature of 990℃ for 15 min, the bonding strength could reach 801 MPa.展开更多

X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were used to identify the phase constituents and microstructure of the scales formed on the specimens after oxidation at different temperatures. Isothermal oxidation tests show that the oxidation rate of the alloyed TiEAlNb-based alloy is obviously reduced at all temperatures, and the mass gains are very low for this alloy in comparison with those of Ti-22Al-25Nb alloy. The alloying elements Mo, V, Zr and Si have an obvious affect on the oxidation products of the alloys. The improved oxidation resistance for the alloy is ascribed to the introduction of Mo, V, Zr and Si elements, which are beneficial to the selective oxidation of Al to form protective oxides while are disadvantage of the formation of poor oxidation resistance oxides such as AlNbO4.展开更多

Three typical microstructures of Ti 2AlNb based alloys were obtained by combination of thermal mechanical processing and heat treat ment. They are: 1) lath mixture of O + B 2 with remaining β grain boundaries and α 2 phase; 2) equiaxed O phase in B 2 matrix; 3) fine lath mixture of O + B 2 without remaining β grain boundaries. It is shown that the microstructure obviously affects the tensile properties of Ti 2AlNb based alloys. The microstructure of fine lath mixture of O + B 2 without remaining β grain boundaries has good combination of yield stress and ductility, while the microstructure with lath mixture of O + B 2 with remaining β grain boundaries and α 2 phase has low yield stress and elongation. The fracture mode was also controlled by the microstructure of Ti 2AlNb based alloys. By means of SEM, it was found that the dominated fracture mode of microstructure with lath mixture of O + B 2 with remained β grain boundary and α 2 phase was intergranular, and the fracture mode of the other two microstructures was mainly transgranular.展开更多

The microstructure and tribological properties of the composite coatings were investigated. The results show that the composite coating contains the phases of Ni Al, Ni3Al, Al3Ni2, TiB2, TiB, TiC, CrB, and Cr23C6.Its microhardness is HV0.5855.8, which is 15.4 % higher than that of the Ni-base alloy coating and is 6.7 times as high as that of the aluminum alloy. The friction coefficients of the composite coatings are reduced by 6.8 %–21.6 % and 13.2 %–32.4 % compared with those of the Ni-base alloy coatings and the aluminum alloys, while the wear losses are 27.4 %–43.2 % less than those of the Ni-base alloy coatings and are only 16.5 %–32.7 % of those of the aluminum alloys at different loads. At the light loads ranging from 3 to 6 N, the calculated maximum contact stress is smaller than the elastic limit contact stress. The wear mechanism of the composite coatings is micro-cutting wear, but changes into multi-plastic deformation wear at 9 N due to the higher calculated maximum contact stress than the elastic limit contact stress. As the loads increase to 12 N, the calculated flash temperature rises to 332.1 °C.The composite coating experiences multi-plastic deformation wear, micro-brittle fracture wear, and oxidative wear.展开更多

Different contents of Mo (4-12 wt.%) were added into Tl(C,N)-based cermets. Specimens were fabricated by conventional powder metallurgy and vacuum sintered at temperatures of 1440, 1450, and 1460℃ individually. The microstructure and fracture morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscope, and the mechanical properties such as transverse strength and hardness were measured. The results show that the microstructure is uniform and the thickness of rim phase is moderate when the content of Mo is 8 wt.%; the mechanical properties of the specimens sintered at 1450℃ are better than those sintered at 1440 and 1460℃. The integrated properties of transverse strength and hardness are the best when the content of Mo is 8 wt.% and the sintering temperature is 1450℃.展开更多

The results of the isothermal oxidation test at 800-900℃ showed that Cr1-xAlxN coatings could remarkably reduce the oxidation rate of the alloy owing to the formation of Al2O3+Cr2O3 mixture oxide scale on the surface of the coatings. No spallation of the coatings or oxide scales took place during the cyclic oxidation at 800℃. Ti was observed to diffuse into the coatings, the diffusion distance of which was very short, and the diffusion ability of it was proportional to the AI content in the coatings. Compared to Ti, Nb can diffuse much more easily through the whole coatings and oxide scales.展开更多

The experimental results show that the electrodeposition of PbO 2 at a higher current density for a short time, then followed by a lower current density can get a compact and combinative PbO 2 layer. The properties of a Ti/PbO 2 electrode with an interlayer of oxide are the best. When this kind of electrode is used to treat phenol containing waste water, the phenol removal rate is higher and the slot voltage is lower. In addition, by using the phenol removal rate as an index, the influences of electrolysis current density, mass transfer condition and pH were studied and the optimal condition was confirmed.展开更多

The influence of substructures on the thermal stability of lamellar structure was emphasized. These substructures produced by thermal mechanical treatments include the interfacial dislocations and ledges, the subgrain boundaries, the impinged T(Q) twins and misorientated lamellar interfaces. The microstructural change of three kinds of lamellar TiAl base alloys containing differents type and densities of substructures were compared during exposure at 800~1 000 ℃. It was found that the existence of such substructures could accelerate the degeneration of lamellar structure, leading to the rapid necking and break up of α 2 plates, the coarsening of γ plates, and the formation of new γ grains. As a result, the lamellar structure with substructures started to degenerate after thermal exposure at 800℃ for 4.5 h. While only slight coarsening was observed at the colony boundaries in the lamellar structure without substructures even after exposure at 900 ℃ for 7 d.展开更多
