In the case of low flow velocity, the pipe is stable with a straight equilibrium position and the dynamics of the system can be examined using linear theory. When the flow velocity is beyond the critical value, any motions of the pipe could be around the postbuckling configuration(non-zero equilibrium position) rather than the straight equilibrium position, so nonlinear theory is required. The nonlinear equations of perturbed motions around the postbuckling configuration are derived and solved with the aid of Galerkin discretization. It is found, for a given flow velocity, that the first-mode frequency for in-plane motions is quite different from that for out-of-plane motions. However, the second-or third-mode frequencies for in-plane motions are approximately equal to their counterparts for out-of-plane motions, keeping almost constant values with increasing flow velocity. Moreover, the orientation angle of the postbuckling configuration plane for a buckled pipe can be significantly affected by initial conditions, displaying new features which have not been observed in the same pipe system factitiously supposed to deform in a single plane.展开更多

Although these conditions differ in clinical presentation, they share fundamental pathological features that may stem from abnormal mitochondrial dynamics and impaired autophagic clearance, which contribute to redox imbalance and oxidative stress in neurons. This review aimed to elucidate the relationship between mitochondrial dynamics dysfunction and neurodevelopmental disorders. Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that undergo continuous fusion and fission to meet the substantial energy demands of neural cells. Dysregulation of these processes, as observed in certain neurodevelopmental disorders, causes accumulation of damaged mitochondria, exacerbating oxidative damage and impairing neuronal function. The phosphatase and tensin homolog-induced putative kinase 1/E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase pathway is crucial for mitophagy, the process of selectively removing malfunctioning mitochondria. Mutations in genes encoding mitochondrial fusion proteins have been identified in autism spectrum disorders, linking disruptions in the fusion-fission equilibrium to neurodevelopmental impairments. Additionally, animal models of Rett syndrome have shown pronounced defects in mitophagy, reinforcing the notion that mitochondrial quality control is indispensable for neuronal health. Clinical studies have highlighted the importance of mitochondrial disturbances in neurodevelopmental disorders. In autism spectrum disorders, elevated oxidative stress markers and mitochondrial DNA deletions indicate compromised mitochondrial function. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder has also been associated with cognitive deficits linked to mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. Moreover, induced pluripotent stem cell models derived from patients with Rett syndrome have shown impaired mitochondrial dynamics and heightened vulnerability to oxidative injury, suggesting the role of defective mitochondrial homeostasis in these disorders. From a translational standpoint, multiple therapeutic approaches targeting mitochondrial pathways show promise. Interventions aimed at preserving normal fusion-fission cycles or enhancing mitophagy can reduce oxidative damage by limiting the accumulation of defective mitochondria. Pharmacological modulation of mitochondrial permeability and upregulation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha, an essential regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis, may also ameliorate cellular energy deficits. Identifying early biomarkers of mitochondrial impairment is crucial for precision medicine, since it can help clinicians tailor interventions to individual patient profiles and improve prognoses. Furthermore, integrating mitochondria-focused strategies with established therapies, such as antioxidants or behavioral interventions, may enhance treatment efficacy and yield better clinical outcomes. Leveraging these pathways could open avenues for regenerative strategies, given the influence of mitochondria on neuronal repair and plasticity. In conclusion, this review indicates mitochondrial homeostasis as a unifying therapeutic axis within neurodevelopmental pathophysiology. Disruptions in mitochondrial dynamics and autophagic clearance converge on oxidative stress, and researchers should prioritize validating these interventions in clinical settings to advance precision medicine and enhance outcomes for individuals affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.展开更多

Each sensor is a highly-accurate and highly-sensitive oscillator that has experienced airflow disturbances under the condition of varying room temperatures due to unstable flow-induced forces on the sensors surfaces. The three-dimensional (3D) nature of the airflow inside the sensor box and the interactions of the airflow on the sensors surfaces at different temperatures are studied by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. Higher simulation accuracy is achieved by optimizing meshes, meshing the computational domain using a fine unstructural tetrahedron mesh. However, only a few published papers have gone into details of the corresponding three-dimensional vortex struc- tures and transient aerodynamic forces. In order to deepen the understanding in these two realms, this article presents an integrated computational fluid dynamics study on the hovering aerodynamics of a rufous hummingbird. The original morphological and kinematic data came from a former researcher's experiments. We found that conical and sta- ble leading-edge vortices (LEVs) with spanwise flow inside their cores existed on the hovering hummingbird's wing surfaces. When the LEVs and other near-field vortices were all shed into the wake after stroke reversals, periodically shed bilateral vortex rings were formed. In addition, a strong downwash was present throughout the flapping cycle. Time histories of lift and drag were also obtained. Combining the three-dimensional flow field and time history of lift, we believe that high lift mechanisms (i.e., rotational circulation and wake capture) which take place at stroke reversals in insect flight was not evident here. For mean lift throughout a whole cycle, it is calculated to be 3.60 g (104.0 % of the weight support). The downstroke and upstroke provide 64.2 % and 35.8 % of the weight support, respectively.展开更多

Thus a three-dimensional dynamic constitutive model is established by summarizing the governing equations for phase transformation and plastic deformation under high strain rate loading conditions. By adopting a stress compensation algorithm to update the stress tensor, the phenomenologicalbased constitutive model is embedded into ABAQUS finite element software as user material subroutine with FORTRAN code. Thus the numerical simulation of dynamic responses of NiTi alloy is successfully implemented. The numerical simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental data, validating the feasibility of this proposed model. Comparison between the simulation results and the experimental data indicates that the proposed model can well describe not only the different deformation stages of NiTi alloy but also its constitutive behavior subjected to different high strain rates.展开更多

Fractional steps techniques are needed to convert a multi-dimensional problem into a series of successive one-dimensional problems. Some techniques, such as calculus of variations, energy method, multiplicative commutation rule of difference operators, decomposition of high order difference operators, and the theory of prior estimates are adopted. Optimal order estimates are derived to determine the error in the second order approximate solution. These methods have already been applied to the numerical simulation of migration-accumulation of oil resources and predicting the consequences of seawater intrusion and protection projects.展开更多

It is shown that the left-handed helical modes play a major role on the spectral transfer properties of turbulence when the generalized helicity and magnetic helicity are both positive. In contrast, the right-handed helical modes will play a major role when both are negative. Furthermore, we also find that if the generalized helicity and magnetic helicity have opposite signs, the tendency of equilibrium spectra to condense at the large or small wave numbers will be presented in different helical sectors. This indicates that the generalized helicity dominates the forward cascade and the magnetic helicity dominates the inverse cascade properties of the Hall MHD turbulence.展开更多

文摘Hummingbirds have a unique way of hover- ing. The downstroke and upstroke provide 64.2 % and 35.8 % of the weight support, respectively.

文摘In the present work, the governing equations based on theory of irreversible thermodynamics is deduced by introducing two internal variables to characterize the phase transformation and finite plastic deformation evolution for NiTi shape memory alloy. Comparison between the simulation results and the experimental data indicates that the proposed model can well describe not only the different deformation stages of NiTi alloy but also its constitutive behavior subjected to different high strain rates.

文摘To date, numerous studies have been performed to elucidate the complex cellular dynamics in skin diseases, but few have attempted to characterize these cellular events under conditions similar to the native environment. To address this challenge,a three-dimensional(3D)multimodal analysis platform was developed for characterizing in vivo cellular dynamics in skin, which was then utilized to process in vivo wound healing data to demonstrate its applicability.Special attention is focused on in vivo biological parameters that are difficult to study with ex vivo analysis, including 3D cell tracking and techniques to connect biological information obtained from different imaging modalities. These results here open new possibilities for evaluating 3D cellular dynamics in vivo, and can potentially provide new tools for characterizing the skin microenvironment and pathologies in the future.

文摘This paper presents a formulation for three-dimensional elasto-dynamics with an elliptic crack based on the Laplace and Fourier transforms and the convolution theorem. The dynamic stress intensity factor for the crack is determined by solving a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. The results of this paper are very close to those given by the two-dimensional dual integral equation method.
文摘Abstract Reactivity measurement is an essential part of a zero-power physics test, which is critical to reactor design and development. The rod drop experimental technique is used to measure the control rod worth in a zero-power physics test. The conventional rod drop experimental technique is limited by the spatial effect and the difference between the calculated static reactivity and measured dynamic reactivity;thus, the method must be improved. In this study,a modified rod drop experimental technique that constrains the detector neutron flux shape function based on three-dimensional space–time dynamics to reduce the reactivity perturbation and a new method for calculating the detector neutron flux shape function are proposed.Correction factors were determined using Monte Carlo N-particle transport code and transient analysis code for a pressurized water reactor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology and Xi’an Jiaotong University, and a large reactivity of over 2000 pcm was measured using the modified technique. This research evaluated the modified technique accuracy, studied the influence of the correction factors on the modification, and investigated the effect of constraining the shape function on the reactivity perturbation reduction caused by the difference between the calculated neutron flux and true value, using the new method to calculate the shape function of the detector neutron flux and avoiding the neutron detector response function(weighting factor)calculation.

文摘For the three-dimensional convection-dominated problem of dynamics of fluids in porous media, the second order upwind finite difference fractional steps schemes applicable to parallel arithmetic are put forward. These methods have already been applied to the numerical simulation of migration-accumulation of oil resources and predicting the consequences of seawater intrusion and protection projects.

文摘This paper introduces and establishes a quasi-three-dimensional physical model of the interaction between a laser and a slab target. In contrast to previous one-dimensional analytical models, this paper innovatively fits the real laser conditions based on an isothermal, homogeneous expansion similarity solution of the ideal hydrodynamic equations.Using this simple model, the evolution law and analytical formulae for key parameters(e.g.,temperature,density and scale length)in the corona region under certain conditions are given. The analytical solutions agree well with the relevant results of computational hydrodynamics simulation. For constant laser irradiation, the analytical solutions provide a meaningful power-law scaling relationship. The model provides a set of mathematical and physical tools that give theoretical support for adjusting parameters in experiments.

文摘Using the Fourier helical decomposition, we obtain the absolute statistical equilibrium spectra of left- and right-handed helical modes in the incompressible ideal Hall magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). This indicates that the generalized helicity dominates the forward cascade and the magnetic helicity dominates the inverse cascade properties of the Hall MHD turbulence.

文摘Discrete Lotka-Volterra systems in one dimension (the logistic equation) and two dimensions have been studied extensively, revealing a wealth of complex dynamical regimes. We show that three-dimensional discrete Lotka-Volterra dynamical systems exhibit all of the dynamics of the lower dimensional systems and a great deal more. In fact and in particular, there are dynamical features including analogs of flip bifurcations, Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and chaotic strange attracting sets that are essentially three-dimensional. Among these are new generalizations of Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and novel chaotic strange attractors with distinctive candy cane type shapes. Several of these dynamical are investigated in detail using both analytical and simulation techniques.
