BACKGROUND To investigate the preoperative factors influencing textbook outcomes(TO)in Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)patients and evaluate the feasibility of an interpretable machine learning model for preoperat...BACKGROUND To investigate the preoperative factors influencing textbook outcomes(TO)in Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)patients and evaluate the feasibility of an interpretable machine learning model for preoperative prediction of TO,we developed a machine learning model for preoperative prediction of TO and used the SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP)technique to illustrate the prediction process.AIM To analyze the factors influencing textbook outcomes before surgery and to establish interpretable machine learning models for preoperative prediction.METHODS A total of 376 patients diagnosed with ICC were retrospectively collected from four major medical institutions in China,covering the period from 2011 to 2017.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify preoperative variables associated with achieving TO.Based on these variables,an EXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)machine learning prediction model was constructed using the XGBoost package.The SHAP(package:Shapviz)algorithm was employed to visualize each variable's contribution to the model's predictions.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to compare the prognostic differences between the TO-achieving and non-TO-achieving groups.RESULTS Among 376 patients,287 were included in the training group and 89 in the validation group.Logistic regression identified the following preoperative variables influencing TO:Child-Pugh classification,Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)score,hepatitis B,and tumor size.The XGBoost prediction model demonstrated high accuracy in internal validation(AUC=0.8825)and external validation(AUC=0.8346).Survival analysis revealed that the disease-free survival rates for patients achieving TO at 1,2,and 3 years were 64.2%,56.8%,and 43.4%,respectively.CONCLUSION Child-Pugh classification,ECOG score,hepatitis B,and tumor size are preoperative predictors of TO.In both the training group and the validation group,the machine learning model had certain effectiveness in predicting TO before surgery.The SHAP algorithm provided intuitive visualization of the machine learning prediction process,enhancing its interpretability.展开更多

BACKGROUND Textbook outcome(TO),an emerging composite metric for surgical quality assessment,has recently gained recognition for evaluating perioperative results.Laparoscopic transcystic common bile duct exploration(L...BACKGROUND Textbook outcome(TO),an emerging composite metric for surgical quality assessment,has recently gained recognition for evaluating perioperative results.Laparoscopic transcystic common bile duct exploration(LTCBDE)has become a widely adopted minimally invasive technique for treating cholecystolithiasis with choledocholithiasis.Despite its growing clinical application,TO has not yet been formally defined for LTCBDE,nor have its failure-associated risk factors been systematically examined.AIM To define TO for LTCBDE,establish standardized criteria,and identify risk factors for TO failure via logistic regression.METHODS A retrospective cohort of 388 patients who underwent LTCBDE in combination with laparoscopic cholecystectomy at the Department of Biliopancreatic Surgery,Tongji Hospital,from January 2018 to October 2024,was analyzed.The study delineated TO criteria for LTCBDE,calculated the rate of TO achievement,and employed logistic regression to determine independent predictors of TO failure.RESULTS TO was defined as the absence of the following seven criteria:Conversion to open surgery,postoperative complications(Clavien-Dindo grade≥2),biliary leakage(International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery/International Study Group of Liver Surgery grade B/C),delayed removal of drainage tube(>4 days),postoperative interventions,prolonged length of stay(>7 days),and 30-day readmission or mortality.Among 388 patients,276(71.1%)achieved TO.The primary causes of TO failure included delayed removal of drainage tube(94 cases,83.9%),prolonged length of stay(50 cases,44.6%).Multivariate analysis revealed four independent risk factors for TO failure:Preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(P=0.022),advanced age(P=0.010),prolonged anesthesia time(P<0.001),and elevated preoperative alkaline phosphatase levels(P=0.048).These findings suggest that applying the concept of TO to LTCBDE enhances surgical quality evaluation and supports early identification of high-risk patients,facilitating personalized clinical decisions and optimizing individual management.展开更多

History textbooks can and primarily should contribute to the strengthening of students’awareness of universal human values.However,history textbooks can also deepen the divisions,prejudices,and uncritical attitudes,c...History textbooks can and primarily should contribute to the strengthening of students’awareness of universal human values.However,history textbooks can also deepen the divisions,prejudices,and uncritical attitudes,contrary to the goals of education.The youth population,which is still building and creating their point of view towards the world is the main group in the education process.The learning period,in the elementary,as well as in the secondary education is of utmost importance for the development of every human.To that end,history,through the contents of the past largely shapes our perceptions of every individual,ourselves,and the others.Since we are living in a multiethnic and multi-confessional society,I have decided to conduct an analysis of the teaching contents of high school textbooks related to religion.Another reason for the analysis is the role of religion in the formation of Balkan nations,which have made it one of the key elements of their national identities.It is often given the role of raising and strengthening the national awareness,patriotism,as well as the country homogeneity,which most often leads to forming prejudices,divisions,and discrimination towards people of minority religions.The large volume of content related to the religion,and also the mere fact that Muslims are the second largest religion group in the population,I have decided to analyze the contents which are related only to the Islamic religion.The goal is to look for both the positive and negative sides of those contents in history textbooks in secondary schools,which are backed by state institutions that are supposed to take care of the development of competitive,creative,progressive,and ethically formed human potential.The critical review will give an additional impulse to the efforts of eliminating those parts of the teaching contents that create divisions and prejudices,especially in history textbooks,so that its studying can become the key factor in the building of trust between people of different religions.展开更多

(2018) [1], despite substantial attention regarding...This study examines the depth of information regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Female Cutting (FC) present in US medical textbooks. According to Klein et al. (2018) [1], despite substantial attention regarding the effects of FGM, this practice is still ongoing all over the world. Healthcare providers are very important actors who need to understand FGM in order to provide care to girls and women subjected to it, but the small amount of existing work in this area shows a low level of knowledge and training about FGM/FC among U.S. physicians. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) first published the estimated number of girls at risk of FGM/FC in the U.S. to be about 168,000 in 1997;that number had increased to 513,000 girls in the US by 2012 (according to Goldberg et al.) In this study, a small sample of medical textbooks were analyzed for the degree to which the textbooks include information regarding FGM/FC. The results of this study show that US medical textbooks do not include information regarding FGM/FC, suggesting that most medical providers don’t have knowledge and training about FGM/FC. The inadequate information on FGM/FC in medical textbooks reflects a culturally biased lack of recognition of the number of girls and women affected in the US. This maintains an ongoing pattern of silence that reinforces gender inequality. Considering the inadequate information covered in US medical textbooks on FGM/FC, and the concordant lack of provider training to provide advice and care to affected girls and women, incorrect and missed diagnoses may lead to harm to victims of FGM/FC. Providers would be better equipped to care for women and girls if their medical training included information regarding FGM/FC.展开更多

文摘This study examines the depth of information regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Female Cutting (FC) present in US medical textbooks. According to Klein et al. (2018) [1], despite substantial attention regarding the effects of FGM, this practice is still ongoing all over the world. Healthcare providers are very important actors who need to understand FGM in order to provide care to girls and women subjected to it, but the small amount of existing work in this area shows a low level of knowledge and training about FGM/FC among U.S. physicians. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) first published the estimated number of girls at risk of FGM/FC in the U.S. to be about 168,000 in 1997;that number had increased to 513,000 girls in the US by 2012 (according to Goldberg et al.) In this study, a small sample of medical textbooks were analyzed for the degree to which the textbooks include information regarding FGM/FC. The results of this study show that US medical textbooks do not include information regarding FGM/FC, suggesting that most medical providers don’t have knowledge and training about FGM/FC. The inadequate information on FGM/FC in medical textbooks reflects a culturally biased lack of recognition of the number of girls and women affected in the US. This maintains an ongoing pattern of silence that reinforces gender inequality. Considering the inadequate information covered in US medical textbooks on FGM/FC, and the concordant lack of provider training to provide advice and care to affected girls and women, incorrect and missed diagnoses may lead to harm to victims of FGM/FC. Providers would be better equipped to care for women and girls if their medical training included information regarding FGM/FC.
文摘The report of the Chinese 20th National Congress put forward“strengthening the construction and management of textbooks”for the first time,which indicates the importance of textbook construction and highlights the vital position of textbooks in the overall development of the country.From the perspective of textbook quality,and based on the research and analysis of the policy requirements and current evaluation indicators of higher education textbooks,this paper establishes the textbook quality evaluation index system composed of basic indicators and evaluation indicators.This system is based on the principles of science,comprehensiveness,operability,and target-oriented approach.It provides a relatively scientific,objective,and fair reference system for the management and evaluation of textbooks.

文摘With the rapid development of information technology,the combination of terminal technology,big data and mobile Internet and textbooks has become an irresistible trend in the modern education field.Under the context of the Internet,carrying out education and teaching activities based on digital textbooks can give full play to the rich media,openness and interaction of digital textbooks,broaden students′horizon,enrich students′knowledge,and promote the improvement of students′ability and all-round development.However,in the specific teaching practice,there are also problems such as old compilation ideas,single compilation mode and low efficiency of personalized learning.Therefore,schools and teachers need to constantly innovate the presentation and arrangement of digital textbooks,strengthen technical support,deepen students′understanding of the teaching content of digital textbooks,promote the comprehensive development of students and improve the effectiveness of digital textbook teaching.

文摘Drawing upon relevant papers from Chinese core journals and CSSCI source journals in the CNKI China Academic Journals Full-Text Database spanning from 1992 to 2023,this study utilizes CiteSpace as a research tool to visually analyze the knowledge graph structure of research on international Chinese language textbooks in China.The study maps out the publication timeline,authors,institutions,collaborative networks,and keywords pertaining to research on international Chinese language textbooks.The findings indicate that research on international Chinese language textbooks commenced early and continues to maintain a certain level of research interest,yet lacks sufficient research output.Research institutions predominantly reside in universities and publishing groups specializing in language or education,with collaboration between institutions being relatively scarce.High-frequency keywords in recent research on international Chinese language textbooks include“Chinese language textbooks for the Foreigners,”“Chinese language textbooks,”“Teaching Chinese Language for the Foreigners,”“Textbook compilation,”“International Chinese Language Education and Localization,”which reflect a diversified research perspective with interdisciplinary trends.Future research priorities encompass research on localization,customization of textbooks,and evaluation of textbooks which represent forefront directions of research.
文摘The New Curriculum Standard(NCS)is the norm and quality requirement of the Chinese national educational curriculum as well as the basis of teaching management,curriculum evaluation,and textbook compilation.In textbook design,the selection of textbook materials should meet the objectives and requirements of the NCS.Since appropriate teaching materials are essential to curriculum standards and effective teaching,we must follow the consistency between textbook materials and curriculum standards to achieve an ideal degree of conformity with the textbook system and teaching objectives and promote the sustainable development of the English curriculum reform.However,the current primary school English textbooks fall short of the NCS,which leads to difficulties in implementing teaching tasks and achieving teaching goals.Given these difficulties,we should analyze the causes from three dimensions:linguistic knowledge,cultural awareness,and learning strategies.In addition,a high recurrence of phonetic knowledge,systematic grammar presentation,diversified learning styles,level grading,and in-depth involvement of cultural factors are keys to the perfect conformity of the NCS and English textbooks.

文摘Since 2008, the author of this paper has conducted historiographic research on the visual history of science in the West since the mid-twentieth century. The findings show that the cognitive functions of visual scientific representations in the history of science are connected with theories of knowledge development in dialectical materialist epistemology and theories on children's cognitive features at different ages in developmental psychology, as well as the stage-specific curriculum objectives outlined in the Compulsory Education Science Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition). These insights provide essential inspiration and theoretical support for the establishment of the twin-theme logical structure in the Primary School Science Textbooks(Daxiang Edition)—core competencies as the warp and cognitive development as the weft—and for the intentional cultivation of students' cognitive abilities using scientific images across different learning stages and textbooks.
文摘The paper discusses the application of three-dimensional textbook in English teaching. The three-dimensional textbook plays an incomparable function than the traditional textbook and thus has an extensive application in the college English education. It demonstrates the application through the usage of the three-dimensional textbook in the real teaching and shows that excessive usage of sound and pictures or drawings may distract the attention of students. It raises several suggestions at the end.

It provides a greater perception of the book's strengths and weaknesses, which enables the teacher to focus on the weak points and adapt or supplement them accordingly. The paper will provide a detailed evaluation of an EFL textbook focusing on cultural assumptions considering the cultural content and methodology with reference to a specific teaching context by discussing the various aspects of culture reflected in the various components as well as the type of methodology and syllabus design the book follows. Finally, implication and adaptation of this textbook will be argued.
