This paper investigates the platoon control of heterogeneous vehicular cyber-physical systems(VCPSs) subject to external disturbances by using neural network and uniformly quantized communication data.To reduce the adverse effects of quantization errors on system performance,a coupling sliding mode surface is established for each following vehicle.The radial basis function(RBF) neural networks are employed to approximate the unknown external disturbances.Then,a novel platoon control law is proposed for cooperative tracking in which each following vehicle only uses the uniformly quantized data of the neighboring vehicles.And the designed controllers in this paper are fully distributed due to the fact that the selection of each vehicle's controller parameters is independent of the entire communication topology.The string stability of VCPSs in the entire control process is ensured rather than only ensuring the string stability after the sliding mode surface converges to zero.Compared with the existing controller design methods and quantization mechanisms,the neural adaptive sliding-mode platoon controller proposed in this paper is superior in performances including tracking errors,driving comfort and fuel economy.Numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the designed control strategy. 展开更多

This paper presents a robust finite-time visual servo control strategy for the tracking problem of omni-directional mobile manipulators(OMMs)subject to mismatched disturbances.First,the nonlinear kinematic model of visual servoing for OMMs with mismatched disturbances is explicitly presented to solve the whole-body inverse kinematic problem.Second,a sliding mode observer augmented with an integral terminal sliding mode controller is proposed to handle these uncertainties and ensure that the system converges to a small region around the equilibrium point.The boundary layer technique is employed to mitigate the chattering phenomenon.Furthermore,a strict finite-time Lyapunov stability analysis is conducted.An experimental comparison between the proposed algorithm and a traditional position-based visual servo controller is carried out,and the results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control algorithm. 展开更多

Considering the challenges posed by external disturbances on carrier-based aircraft land-ing control,higher demands are required for the precision and convergence of the carrier landingcontrol system.First,this paper proposes an Adaptive Terminal Sliding Combined Super TwistingControl(ATS-STC)method to address the issues of low precision,slow convergence,and poor dis-turbance rejection capability resulting from external disturbances,such as carrier air-wake and deckmotion.By introducing a nonlinear term into the sliding surface and employing an integralapproach,the proposed ATS-STC method can ensure finite-time convergence and mitigate the chat-tering problem.An adaptive law is also utilized to estimate the external disturbances,therebyenhancing the anti-disturbance performance.Then,the stability and convergence time analysis ofthe designed controller are conducted.Based on the proposed method,an Automatic Carrier Land-ing System(ACLS)is developed to perform the carrier landing control task.Furthermore,a multi-dimensional validation is carried out.For the numerical simulation test,the Terminal Sliding ModeControl(TSMC)method and Proportion Integration Differentiation(PID)method are introducedas comparison,the quantitative assessment results show that the tracking error of TSMC and PIDcan reach 1.5 times and 2 times that of the proposed method.Finally,the Hardware-in-the-Loop(HIL)test and real flight test are conducted.All the experimental results demonstrate that the pro-posed control method is more effective and precise. 展开更多

Terminals and their access represent a vulnerable aspect in the security framework of 5G-railway(5G-R)system.To enhance the control of 5G-R terminals and their access to applications,this paper analyzes the application scenarios,operational modes,services supported by 5G-R terminals,and the data paths between these terminals and the connected railway application service systems.Further analysis concentrates on the security risks posed by the characteristics of intelligent 5G-R handheld terminals,lightweight Internet of Things(IoT)communication terminals,and onboard integrated wireless transmission equipment with public-private convergence.In light of the risks above,this paper presents the terminal security control requirements.Furthermore,based on the planned architecture of the 5G-R system and security technologies such as terminal identity authentication and behavior auditing,the paper proposes a solution package for the 5G-R terminal security control system,including the overall architecture,functional implementation,and interface configuration.These solutions aim to achieve unified control over the admission and access of 5G-R handheld terminals,IoT communication terminals,and onboard integrated wireless communication equipment to railway application systems.Additionally,they enable the security control and analysis of terminal behaviors and application data,facilitate the security management of terminals,and ensure the secure release,download,and installation of mobile applications. 展开更多

This study introduces an enhanced adaptive fractional-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode controller(AFONTSMC)tailored for stabilizing a fully submerged hydrofoil craft(FSHC)under external disturbances,model uncertainties,and actuator saturation.A novel nonlinear disturbance observer modified by fractional-order calculus is proposed for flexible and less conservative estimation of lumped disturbances.An enhanced adaptive fractional-order nonsingular sliding mode scheme augmented by disturbance estimation is also introduced to improve disturbance rejection.This controller design only necessitates surpassing the estimation error rather than adhering strictly to the disturbance upper bound.Additionally,an adaptive fast-reaching law with a hyperbolic tangent function is incorporated to enhance the responsiveness and convergence rates of the controller,thereby reducing chattering.Furthermore,an auxiliary actuator compensator is developed to address saturation effects.The resultant closed system of the FSHC with the designed controller is globally asymptotically stable. 展开更多

As wind energy is becoming one of the fastestgrowing renewable energy resources,controlling large-scale wind turbines remains a challenging task due to its system model nonlinearities and high external uncertainties.The main goal of the current work is to propose an intelligent control of the wind turbine system without the need for model identification.For this purpose,a novel model-independent nonsingular terminal slidingmode control(MINTSMC)using the basic principles of the ultralocal model(ULM)and combined with the single input interval type-2 fuzzy logic control(SIT2-FLC)is developed for non-linear wind turbine pitch angle control.In the suggested control framework,the MINTSMC scheme is designed to regulate the wind turbine speed rotor,and a sliding-mode(SM)observer is adopted to estimate the unknown phenomena of the ULM.The auxiliary SIT2-FLC is added in the model-independent control structure to improve the rotor speed regulation and compensate for the SM observation estimation error.Extensive examinations and comparative analyses were made using a real-time softwarein-the-loop(RT-SiL)based on the dSPACE 1202 board to appraise the efficiency and applicability of the suggested modelindependent scheme in a real-time testbed. 展开更多

In order to apply the terminal sliding mode control to robot manipulators,prior knowledge of the exact upper bound of parameter uncertainties,and external disturbances is necessary.However,this bound will not be easily determined because of the complexity and unpredictability of the structure of uncertainties in the dynamics of the robot.To resolve this problem in robot control,we propose a new robust adaptive terminal sliding mode control for tracking problems in robotic manipulators.By applying this adaptive controller,prior knowledge is not required because the controller is able to estimate the upper bound of uncertainties and disturbances.Also,the proposed controller can eliminate the chattering effect without losing the robustness property.The stability of the control algorithm can be easily verified by using Lyapunov theory.The proposed controller is tested in simulation on a two-degree-of-freedom robot to prove its effectiveness. 展开更多

Aimed at the guidance requirements of some missiles which attack targets with terminal impact angle at the terminal point,a new integrated guidance and control design scheme based on variable structure control approach for missile with terminal impact angle constraint is proposed.First,a mathematical model of an integrated guidance and control model in pitch plane is established,and then nonlinear transformation is employed to transform the mathematical model into a standard form suitable for sliding mode control method design.A sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surface is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),based on which the corresponding reaching motion controller is also developed.To verify the effectiveness of the proposed integrated design scheme,the numerical simulation of missile is made.The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed guidance and control law can guide missile to hit the target with desired impact angle and desired flight attitude angle simultaneously. 展开更多

The dynamic terminal sliding mode controller is formulated based on Lyapunov theory such that the existence of the sliding phase of the closed-loop control system can be guaranteed, chattering phenomenon caused by the switching control action can be eliminated, and high precision performance is realized. Moreover, by designing terminal equation, the output tracking error converges to zero in finite time, the reaching phase of DSMC is eliminated and global robustness is obtained. The acceleration autopilot design for skid-to-turn (STT) missile faces a great challenge owing to coupling effect among planes, variation of missile velocity and its parameters, inexistence of a complete state vector, and nonlinear aerodynamics. Moreover, the autopilot should be designed for the entire flight envelope where fast variations exist. In this paper, a design of integrated roll-pitch-yaw autopilot based on global fast terminal sliding mode control (GFTSMC) with a partial state nonlinear observer (PSNLO) for STT nonlinear time-varying missile model, is employed to address these issues. GFTSMC with a novel sliding surface is proposed to nullify the integral error and the singularity problem without application of the sign function. The proposed autopilot consisting of two-loop structure, controls STT maneuver and stabilizes the rolling with a PSNLO in order to estimate the immeasurable states as an output while its inputs are missile measurable states and control signals. The missile model considers the velocity variation, gravity effect and parameters' variation. Furthermore, the environmental conditions' dynamics are mod- eled. PSNLO stability and the closed loop system stability are studied. Finally, numerical simulation is established to evaluate the proposed autopilot performance and to compare it with existing approaches in the literature. 展开更多

The criterion for the design is keeping high-precision tracking with relatively less adjustment of the control input. The ATSMC structure is designed by considering the nonlinear characteristics of the dynamic model and the parametric uncertainties of the train operation in real time. A nonsingular terminal sliding mode control is employed to make the system quickly reach a stable state within a finite time, which makes the control input less adjust to guarantee the riding comfort. An adaptive mechanism is used to estimate controller parameters to get rid of the need of the prior knowledge about the bounds of system uncertainty. Simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller, which has robust performance to deal with the external disturbance and system parametric uncertainties. This paper addresses the problem of distributed secondary control for islanded AC microgrids with external disturbances.By using a full-order sliding-mode(FOSM)approach,voltage regulation and frequency restoration are achieved in finite time.For voltage regulation,a distributed observer is proposed for each distributed generator(DG)to estimate a reference voltage level.Different from some conventional observers,the reference voltage level in this paper is accurately estimated under directed communication topologies.Based on the observer,a new nonlinear controller is designed in a backstepping manner such that an FOSM surface is reached in finite time.On the surface,the voltages of DGs are regulated to the reference level in finite time.For frequency restoration,a distributed controller is further proposed such that a constructed FOSM surface is reached in finite time,on which the frequencies of DGs are restored to a reference level in finite time under directed communication topologies.Finally,case studies on a modified IEEE 37-bus test system are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness,the robustness against load changes,and the plug-and-play capability of the proposed controllers. 展开更多

Vision-based pose stabilization of nonholonomic mobile robots has received extensive attention. At present, most of the solutions of the problem do not take the robot dynamics into account in the controller design, so that these controllers are difficult to realize satisfactory control in practical application. Besides, many of the approaches suffer from the initial speed and torque jump which are not practical in the real world. Considering the kinematics and dynamics, a two-stage visual controller for solving the stabilization problem of a mobile robot is presented, applying the integration of adaptive control, sliding-mode control, and neural dynamics. In the first stage, an adaptive kinematic stabilization controller utilized to generate the command of velocity is developed based on Lyapunov theory. In the second stage, adopting the sliding-mode control approach, a dynamic controller with a variable speed function used to reduce the chattering is designed, which is utilized to generate the command of torque to make the actual velocity of the mobile robot asymptotically reach the desired velocity. Furthermore, to handle the speed and torque jump problems, the neural dynamics model is integrated into the above mentioned controllers. The stability of the proposed control system is analyzed by using Lyapunov theory. Finally, the simulation of the control law is implemented in perturbed case, and the results show that the control scheme can solve the stabilization problem effectively. The proposed control law can solve the speed and torque jump problems, overcome external disturbances, and provide a new solution for the vision-based stabilization of the mobile robot. 展开更多

The control problem of coordinated motion of a free-floating space rigid manipulator with external disturbance is discussed. By combining linear momentum conversion and the Lagrangian approach, the full-control dynamic equation and the Jacobian relation of a free-floating space rigid manipulator are established and then inverted to the state equation for control design. Based on the terminal sliding mode control (SMC) technique, a mathematical expression of the terminal sliding surface is proposed. The terminal SMC scheme is then developed for coordinated motion between the base's attitude and the end-effector of the free-floating space manipulator with external disturbance. This proposed control scheme not only guarantees the existence of the sliding phase of the closed-loop system, but also ensures that the output tracking error converges to zero in finite time. In addition, because the initial system state is always at the terminal sliding surface, the control scheme can eliminate reaching phase of the SMC and guarantee global robustness and stability of the closed-loop system. A planar free-floating space rigid manipulator is simulated to verify the feasibility of the proposed control scheme. 展开更多

The proposed control scheme is applied to synchronize the fractional-order Lorenz chaotic system and fractional-order Chen chaotic system with uncertainty and external disturbance parameters. This paper addresses a terminal sliding mode control(T-SMC) method for load frequency control(LFC) in renewable power systems with generation rate constraints(GRC).A two-area interconnected power system with wind turbines is taken into account for simulation studies. The terminal sliding mode controllers are assigned in each area to achieve the LFC goal. The increasing complexity of the nonlinear power system aggravates the effects of system uncertainties. Radial basis function neural networks(RBF NNs) are designed to approximate the entire uncertainties. The terminal sliding mode controllers and the RBF NNs work in parallel to solve the LFC problem for the renewable power system. Some simulation results illustrate the feasibility and validity of the presented scheme. 展开更多

The trajectory tracking control problem is addressed for autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV) in marine environ?ment, with presence of the influence of the uncertain factors including ocean current disturbance, dynamic modeling uncertainty, and thrust model errors. To improve the trajectory tracking accuracy of AUV, an adaptive backstepping terminal sliding mode control based on recurrent neural networks(RNN) is proposed. Firstly, considering the inaccu?rate of thrust model of thruster, a Taylor’s polynomial is used to obtain the thrust model errors. And then, the dynamic modeling uncertainty and thrust model errors are combined into the system model uncertainty(SMU) of AUV; through the RNN, the SMU and ocean current disturbance are classified, approximated online. Finally, the weights of RNN and other control parameters are adjusted online based on the backstepping terminal sliding mode controller. In addition, a chattering?reduction method is proposed based on sigmoid function. In chattering?reduction method, the sigmoid function is used to realize the continuity of the sliding mode switching function, and the sliding mode switching gain is adjusted online based on the exponential form of the sliding mode function. Based on the Lyapu?nov theory and Barbalat’s lemma, it is theoretically proved that the AUV trajectory tracking error can quickly converge to zero in the finite time. This research proposes a trajectory tracking control method of AUV, which can e ectively achieve high?precision trajectory tracking control of AUV under the influence of the uncertain factors. The feasibility and e ectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated with trajectory tracking simulations and pool?experi?ments of AUV. 展开更多
