Integral terminal sliding mode augmented finite-time visual servo control of omni-directional mobile manipulators

This paper presents a robust finite-time visual servo control strategy for the tracking problem of omni-directional mobile manipulators(OMMs)subject to mismatched disturbances.First,the nonlinear kinematic model of visual servoing for OMMs with mismatched disturbances is explicitly presented to solve the whole-body inverse kinematic problem.Second,a sliding mode observer augmented with an integral terminal sliding mode controller is proposed to handle these uncertainties and ensure that the system converges to a small region around the equilibrium point.The boundary layer technique is employed to mitigate the chattering phenomenon.Furthermore,a strict finite-time Lyapunov stability analysis is conducted.An experimental comparison between the proposed algorithm and a traditional position-based visual servo controller is carried out,and the results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control algorithm. 展开更多

This study introduces an enhanced adaptive fractional-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode controller(AFONTSMC)tailored for stabilizing a fully submerged hydrofoil craft(FSHC)under external disturbances,model uncertainties,and actuator saturation.A novel nonlinear disturbance observer modified by fractional-order calculus is proposed for flexible and less conservative estimation of lumped disturbances.An enhanced adaptive fractional-order nonsingular sliding mode scheme augmented by disturbance estimation is also introduced to improve disturbance rejection.This controller design only necessitates surpassing the estimation error rather than adhering strictly to the disturbance upper bound.Additionally,an adaptive fast-reaching law with a hyperbolic tangent function is incorporated to enhance the responsiveness and convergence rates of the controller,thereby reducing chattering.Furthermore,an auxiliary actuator compensator is developed to address saturation effects.The resultant closed system of the FSHC with the designed controller is globally asymptotically stable. 展开更多

Steady state error and control switching frequency are used to constitute the system performance indexes in the coordinating optimization, while the tuning rate of boundary layer width (BLW) is employed as the optimization parameter. Based on the mathematical relationship between the BLW and steady-state error, an optimized BLW tuning rate is added to the nonlinear control term of SMVSC. Simulation experiment results applied to the positioning control of an electro-hydraulic servo system show the comprehensive superiority in dynamical and static state performance by using the proposed controller is better than that by using SMVSC without optimized BLW tuning rate. This succeeds in coordinately considering both chattering reduction and high-precision control realization in SMVSC. 展开更多

Considering the challenges posed by external disturbances on carrier-based aircraft land-ing control,higher demands are required for the precision and convergence of the carrier landingcontrol system.First,this paper proposes an Adaptive Terminal Sliding Combined Super TwistingControl(ATS-STC)method to address the issues of low precision,slow convergence,and poor dis-turbance rejection capability resulting from external disturbances,such as carrier air-wake and deckmotion.By introducing a nonlinear term into the sliding surface and employing an integralapproach,the proposed ATS-STC method can ensure finite-time convergence and mitigate the chat-tering problem.An adaptive law is also utilized to estimate the external disturbances,therebyenhancing the anti-disturbance performance.Then,the stability and convergence time analysis ofthe designed controller are conducted.Based on the proposed method,an Automatic Carrier Land-ing System(ACLS)is developed to perform the carrier landing control task.Furthermore,a multi-dimensional validation is carried out.For the numerical simulation test,the Terminal Sliding ModeControl(TSMC)method and Proportion Integration Differentiation(PID)method are introducedas comparison,the quantitative assessment results show that the tracking error of TSMC and PIDcan reach 1.5 times and 2 times that of the proposed method.Finally,the Hardware-in-the-Loop(HIL)test and real flight test are conducted.All the experimental results demonstrate that the pro-posed control method is more effective and precise. 展开更多

In order to apply the terminal sliding mode control to robot manipulators,prior knowledge of the exact upper bound of parameter uncertainties,and external disturbances is necessary.However,this bound will not be easily determined because of the complexity and unpredictability of the structure of uncertainties in the dynamics of the robot.To resolve this problem in robot control,we propose a new robust adaptive terminal sliding mode control for tracking problems in robotic manipulators.By applying this adaptive controller,prior knowledge is not required because the controller is able to estimate the upper bound of uncertainties and disturbances.Also,the proposed controller can eliminate the chattering effect without losing the robustness property.The stability of the control algorithm can be easily verified by using Lyapunov theory.The proposed controller is tested in simulation on a two-degree-of-freedom robot to prove its effectiveness. 展开更多

Aimed at the guidance requirements of some missiles which attack targets with terminal impact angle at the terminal point,a new integrated guidance and control design scheme based on variable structure control approach for missile with terminal impact angle constraint is proposed.First,a mathematical model of an integrated guidance and control model in pitch plane is established,and then nonlinear transformation is employed to transform the mathematical model into a standard form suitable for sliding mode control method design.A sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surface is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),based on which the corresponding reaching motion controller is also developed.To verify the effectiveness of the proposed integrated design scheme,the numerical simulation of missile is made.The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed guidance and control law can guide missile to hit the target with desired impact angle and desired flight attitude angle simultaneously. 展开更多

The dynamic terminal sliding mode controller is formulated based on Lyapunov theory such that the existence of the sliding phase of the closed-loop control system can be guaranteed, chattering phenomenon caused by the switching control action can be eliminated, and high precision performance is realized. Moreover, by designing terminal equation, the output tracking error converges to zero in finite time, the reaching phase of DSMC is eliminated and global robustness is obtained. The trajectory tracking control problem is addressed for autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV) in marine environ?ment, with presence of the influence of the uncertain factors including ocean current disturbance, dynamic modeling uncertainty, and thrust model errors. To improve the trajectory tracking accuracy of AUV, an adaptive backstepping terminal sliding mode control based on recurrent neural networks(RNN) is proposed. Firstly, considering the inaccu?rate of thrust model of thruster, a Taylor’s polynomial is used to obtain the thrust model errors. And then, the dynamic modeling uncertainty and thrust model errors are combined into the system model uncertainty(SMU) of AUV; through the RNN, the SMU and ocean current disturbance are classified, approximated online. Finally, the weights of RNN and other control parameters are adjusted online based on the backstepping terminal sliding mode controller. In addition, a chattering?reduction method is proposed based on sigmoid function. In chattering?reduction method, the sigmoid function is used to realize the continuity of the sliding mode switching function, and the sliding mode switching gain is adjusted online based on the exponential form of the sliding mode function. Based on the Lyapu?nov theory and Barbalat’s lemma, it is theoretically proved that the AUV trajectory tracking error can quickly converge to zero in the finite time. This research proposes a trajectory tracking control method of AUV, which can e ectively achieve high?precision trajectory tracking control of AUV under the influence of the uncertain factors. The feasibility and e ectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated with trajectory tracking simulations and pool?experi?ments of AUV. 展开更多

Wheeled mobile robots(WMRs) encounter unavoidable slippage especially on the low adhesion terrain such that the robots stability and accuracy are reduced greatly.To overcome this drawback,this article presents a neural network(NN) based terminal sliding mode control(TSMC) for WMRs where an augmented ground friction model is reported by which the uncertain friction can be estimated and compensated according to the required performance.In contrast to the existing friction models,the developed augmented ground friction model corresponds to actual fact because not only the effects associated with the mobile platform velocity but also the slippage related to the wheel slip rate are concerned simultaneously.Besides,the presented control approach can combine the merits of both TSMC and radial basis function(RBF) neural networks techniques,thereby providing numerous excellent performances for the closed-loop system,such as finite time convergence and faster friction estimation property.Simulation results validate the proposed friction model and robustness of controller;these research results will improve the autonomy and intelligence of WMRs,particularly when the mobile platform suffers from the sophisticated unstructured environment. 展开更多

This paper presents an adaptive terminal sliding mode control(ATSMC) method for automatic train operation. The criterion for the design is keeping high-precision tracking with relatively less adjustment of the control input. The ATSMC structure is designed by considering the nonlinear characteristics of the dynamic model and the parametric uncertainties of the train operation in real time. A nonsingular terminal sliding mode control is employed to make the system quickly reach a stable state within a finite time, which makes the control input less adjust to guarantee the riding comfort. An adaptive mechanism is used to estimate controller parameters to get rid of the need of the prior knowledge about the bounds of system uncertainty. Simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller, which has robust performance to deal with the external disturbance and system parametric uncertainties. This paper addresses a terminal sliding mode control(T-SMC) method for load frequency control(LFC) in renewable power systems with generation rate constraints(GRC).A two-area interconnected power system with wind turbines is taken into account for simulation studies. The terminal sliding mode controllers are assigned in each area to achieve the LFC goal. The increasing complexity of the nonlinear power system aggravates the effects of system uncertainties. Radial basis function neural networks(RBF NNs) are designed to approximate the entire uncertainties. The terminal sliding mode controllers and the RBF NNs work in parallel to solve the LFC problem for the renewable power system. An adaptive terminal sliding mode control (SMC) technique is proposed to deal with the tracking problem for a class of high-order nonlinear dynamic systems. It is shown that a function augmented sliding hyperplane can be used to develop a new terminal sliding mode for high-order nonlinear systems. A terminal SMC controller based on Lyapunov theory is designed to force the state variables of the closed-loop system to reach and remain on the terminal sliding mode, so that the output tracking error then converges to zero in finite time which can be set arbitrarily. An adaptive mechanism is introduced to estimate the unknown parameters of the upper bounds of system uncertainties. The estimates are then used as controller parameters so that the effects of uncertain dynamics can be eliminated. It is also shown that the stability of the closed-loop system can be guaranteed with the proposed control strategy. The simulation of a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the new method. 展开更多

Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a new fractional-order switching manifold is proposed, and in order to ensure the occurrence of sliding motion in finite time, a corresponding sliding mode control law is designed. The proposed control scheme is applied to synchronize the fractional-order Lorenz chaotic system and fractional-order Chen chaotic system with uncertainty and external disturbance parameters. Based on the terminal sliding mode control (SMC) technique, a mathematical expression of the terminal sliding surface is proposed. The terminal SMC scheme is then developed for coordinated motion between the base's attitude and the end-effector of the free-floating space manipulator with external disturbance. This proposed control scheme not only guarantees the existence of the sliding phase of the closed-loop system, but also ensures that the output tracking error converges to zero in finite time. In addition, because the initial system state is always at the terminal sliding surface, the control scheme can eliminate reaching phase of the SMC and guarantee global robustness and stability of the closed-loop system.
