This strategy is gaining relevance in the field of health innovation because it prom...This study proposes the development of a system to classify phytomedicine projects by applying the technology readiness level (TRL). This strategy is gaining relevance in the field of health innovation because it promotes synergism between researchers and R&D managers working in this area. Nine TRLs were created for the development of herbal medicines by the authors, which is a group of experts in natural products, supported by pre-existing records on project management in the institutions to which they belong. The levels were determined by mirroring the bench-to-bedside development of synthetic drug pathways, in accordance with concepts of translational research. Each level was sectioned by disciplinary areas ruling pools of multiple activities, the achievements of which represent independent technologies. Short content deliveries (SCD) were empirically established at the end of each level as a requirement to enter the next technological stage. A TRL scale was constructed to classify the stages of phytomedicines development to reflect project maturity. Detailed descriptions of the first five nonclinical levels and their sublevels were provided. At the end of each level, the SCD served as an indicator of sufficiency to move on to the next stage. The TRL framework for developing phytomedicines provided an organized panel to clarify the independent technology generated in each stage. The integration of these technologies constitutes a valuable tool for institutions that foster pharmaceutical product development. The five initial levels of TRL considered here can contribute to accelerating innovation in R&D organizations dedicated to the development of plant-based products.展开更多

This study investigated the influence of human capital development and technological,strategic,cognitive,and environmental factors on Industry 4.0 readiness,as well as cultural factors acting as a mediator.Respondents...This study investigated the influence of human capital development and technological,strategic,cognitive,and environmental factors on Industry 4.0 readiness,as well as cultural factors acting as a mediator.Respondents were 478 employees from across eight regions in Russia.Survey data were collected on employee technological readiness,human capital development,strategic planning,cognitive perceptions,and environmental and cultural factors influencing the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies,with cultural factors mediating.These findings from the structure equation analysis show that technological factors and human capital development are the strongest predictors of readiness,suggesting that robust digital infrastructure and a skilled workforce are critical for Industry 4.0 adoption.These findings contribute specifically to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT)by expanding its application to the context of Industry 4.0 adoption.Furthermore,the findings provide practical insights for policymakers and industry leaders,empowering them to enhance technological implementation strategies by identifying areas such as human resource development to improve implementation strategies for Industry 4.0.展开更多
Integrating the photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)system in green hydrogen production is an improvement in sustainable energy technologies.In PV/T systems,solar energy is converted into electricity and thermal energy simultan...Integrating the photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)system in green hydrogen production is an improvement in sustainable energy technologies.In PV/T systems,solar energy is converted into electricity and thermal energy simultaneously using hot water or air together with electricity.This dual use saves a significant amount of energy and officially fights greenhouse gases.Different cooling techniques have been proposed in the literature for improving the overall performance of the PV/T systems;employing different types of agents including nanofluids and phase change materials.Hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe and has later turned into a flexible energy carrier for transportation and other industrial applications.Issues,including the processes of Hydrogen manufacturing,preservation as well as some risks act as barriers.This paper provides an analysis of several recent publications on the efficiency of using PV/T technology in the process of green hydrogen production and indicates the potential for its increased efficiency as compared to conventional systems that rely on fossil fuels.Due to the effective integration of solar energy,the PV/T system can play an important role in the reduction of the levelized cost of hydrogen(LCOH)and hence play an important part in reducing the economic calculations of the decarbonized energy system.展开更多

The ultimate objective is to provide actionable insights and recommendations that could inform future strategies and policies to enhance Zanzibar SMEs on the successful implementation and acceptance of e-government services in Zanzibar. The study involves SMEs which are Small and Medium Industries Development Agency (SMIDA), Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors (ZATI) and Zanzibar National Chambers of Commerce (ZNCC). Quantitative research design holds significant merit for this study, whereby primary data was in this study ensures that all variables are accurately and comprehensively captured. The study involved 384 respondents. Survey questionnaire used to collect the required information. Generally, the results displayed that, while Technological Readiness does not exhibit a mediating effect between either Human Resource Capital or Financial Source Capital and E-government Services Adoption, it does play a significant mediating role in the relationships of both Government Policies and Information Communication Technology with E-government Services Adoption. This highlights the importance of considering intermediary factors like Technological Readiness when understanding the influences on E-government service adoption to Zanzibar SMEs.展开更多

Th...Computer assisted audit techniques (CAATs) are audit technologies that allow auditors to perform their audit work efficiently and effectively. However, little is known about CAATs adoption process by audit firms. Therefore, this paper adapts the technology readiness theory (TRI), the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and the technology-organization environment (TOE) framework and Denison organizational culture theory, and presents a new theory of unified technology readiness and cultural-technological-organizational-environmental model (UTR-CTOE), to explain CAATs adoption at both individual level and firm level. The methodology used in the study consists of a random sampling among the auditors through the administration of questionnaire. A total of 581 auditors registered with Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) respond to the survey. Our main findings of this paper confirm that the relation between beliefs, such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, facilitating condition and social influence, and motivation is positively correlated, while beliefs have a negative correlation with inhibition towards CAATs adoption. Results also indicate that firm's decision for CAATs adoption is positively influenced by cultural, technological, organizational, and environmental factors. Furthermore, there is an indirect impact of firm's internal and external influences on auditors' adoption of CAATs.展开更多
Contemporary system maturity assessment approaches have failed to provide robust quantitative system evaluations resulting in increased program costs and developmental risks.Standard assessment metrics,such as Technol...Contemporary system maturity assessment approaches have failed to provide robust quantitative system evaluations resulting in increased program costs and developmental risks.Standard assessment metrics,such as Technology Readiness Levels(TRL),do not sufficiently evaluate increasingly complex systems.The System Readiness Level(SRL)is a newly developed system development metric that is a mathematical function of TRL and Integration Readiness Level(IRL) values for the components and connections of a particular system.SRL acceptance has been hindered because of concerns over SRL mathematical operations that may lead to inaccurate system readiness assessments.These inaccurate system readiness assessments are called readiness reversals.A new SRL calculation method using incidence matrices is proposed to alleviate these mathematical concerns.The presence of SRL readiness reversal is modeled for four SRL calculation methods across several system configurations.Logistic regression analysis demonstrates that the proposed Incidence Matrix SRL(IMSRL)method has a decreased presence of readiness reversal than other approaches suggested in the literature.Viable SRL methods will foster greater SRL adoption by systems engineering professionals and will support system development risk reduction goals.展开更多

The construction industry is a major contributor to environmental pollution.The effect of the construction industry on the environment may be mitigated using eco-friendly construction materials,such as biocomposites.O...The construction industry is a major contributor to environmental pollution.The effect of the construction industry on the environment may be mitigated using eco-friendly construction materials,such as biocomposites.Once developed,biocomposites may offer a viable alternative to the current materials in use.However,biocomposites are lagging in terms of adoption and eventual use in the construction industry.This article provides insights into the steps for biocomposites to become a product that is ready to use by the construction industry in a structural role.The development and the adoption of such a material is tackled with the use of two concepts,i.e.,technology readiness level and roadmapping,and explored in a case study on the“liquid wood”.Furthermore,interviews in the construction industry are carried out to identify the industry’s take on biocomposites.A customized roadmap,which underlines a mostly nontechnical perspective concerning this material,has emerged.Additionally,the adoption and diffusion issues that the“liquid wood”may encounter are outlined and complemented with further recommendations.展开更多
