Hand tremor-suppression orthoses are noninvasive, wearable devices designed to mitigate tremors. Various studies have shown that these devices are effective, economical, and safe;however, they have drawbacks such as large weight, awkward shape, and rigid parts. This study investigates different types of tremor-suppression orthoses and discusses their efficiency, mechanism, benefits, and disadvantages. First, various orthoses(with passive, semi-active, and active mechanisms) are described in detail.Next, we look at how additive manufacturing(AM) has progressed recently in making sensors and actuators for application in tremor orthoses. Then, the materials used in AM are further analyzed. It is found that traditional manufacturing problems can be solved with the help of AM techniques, like making orthoses that are affordable, lighter, and more customizable. Another concept being discussed is using smart materials and AM methods, such as four-dimensional(4D) printing, to make orthoses that are more comfortable and efficient.展开更多

Gas-dynamic phenomena caused by rock mass tremors and rock bursts observed as transient states of air parameters in mining headings, are usually generated as a result of a change in the geometry of headings and the release of considerable amounts of gases. Particular significance is attributed to transient states caused by disasters, which are often accompanied by rapid incidents, presenting threats to the life and health of the underground crew.In Polish mining there are known examples of transient states of air parameters recorded during gasdynamic phenomena, e.g. tremors and rock bursts. The paper presents the case studies of rapid seismic incidents to show how records in mine monitoring systems broaden the knowledge about the transient states of air parameters in mining headings generated because of them.展开更多

It typically involves a postural and motor tremor of the hands, head or other part of the body. Essential tremor is driven by a central oscillation signal in the brain. However, the corticospinal mechanisms involved in the generation of essential tremor are unclear. Therefore, in this study, we used a neural computational model that includes both monosynaptic and multisynaptic corticospinal pathways interacting with a propriospinal neuronal network. A virtual arm model is driven by the central oscillation signal to simulate tremor activity behavior. Cortical descending commands are classified as alpha or gamma through monosynaptic or multisynaptic corticospinal pathways, which converge respectively on alpha or gamma motoneurons in the spinal cord. Several scenarios are evaluated based on the central oscillation signal passing down to the spinal motoneurons via each descending pathway. The simulated behaviors are compared with clinical essential tremor characteristics to identify the corticospinal pathways responsible for transmitting the central oscillation signal. A propriospinal neuron with strong cortical inhibition performs a gating function in the generation of essential tremor. Our results indicate that the propriospinal neuronal network is essential for relaying the central oscillation signal and the production of essential tremor.展开更多

PD is primarily caused by a progressive loss of dopamine neurons in the nigrostriatal system that leads to widespread motor symptoms such as bradykinesia, rigidity, tremor and postural instability. ET typically involves a tremor of the arms, hands or fingers. No definitive test or biomarker is yet available for PD or ET, so the rate of misdiagnosis is relatively high. As tremor is a very common feature at the onset of both diseases, it is crucial to be able to characterize it. This is made possible using acce?lerometers to quantify the tremor amplitude and frequency. In this work we aim to find tasks involving upper limb movements that are suitable to modulate both types of tremor. Four tasks were tested, differing on whether the arms moved together or alternatingly and whether loads were added. Significant differences in tremor measures were found when patients were asked to perform simultaneous rapid arms movements with loads placed on their wrists. These results may allow the design of an efficient fMRI protocol for identifying the cortical circuits responsible for the modulation of tremor.展开更多

Programming of the stimulation parameters is important for maintaining the efficacy of deep brain stimulation. Voltage is consid- ered to be the most effective programming parameter. The present study is a retrospective analysis of six patients with Parkinson's disease (four men and two women, aged 37-65 years), who underwent bilateral deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, China, and who subsequently adjusted only the stimulation voltage. We evaluated motor symptom severity using the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale Part III, symptom progression using the Hoehn and Yahr scale, and the levodopa equivalent daily dose, before surgery and 1 and 2 years after surgery. The 2-year follow-up results show that rigidity and tremor improved, and clinical symptoms were reduced, while pulse width was maintained at 60 ps and frequency at 130 Hz. Voltage adjust- ment alone is particularly suitable for patients who cannot tolerate multiparameter program adjustment. Levodopa equivalent daily dose was markedly reduced 1 and 2 years after surgery compared with baseline. Our results confirm that rigidity, tremor and bradykinesia can be best alleviated by voltage adjustment. The trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (identifier: NCT01934881).展开更多

Underground mining in this area takes place in a special environment with a high degree of risk of unpredictable event occurrence. Especially dangerous are phenomena that occur during the extraction of deposits at great depths in the environment of compact rocks. Deep underground mining violates the balance of these rocks and induces dynamic phenomena at the longwall life (in terms of distance) referred to as mine tremors. The sources of these tremors are located in layers characterised by high strength, especially in thick sandstone strata occurring in the roof of the mined seam. In the paper a discussion is presented about the influence of mining intensity (longwall face speed) on the location of mine tremor sources, both in the direction of longwall life (in terms of distance) and towards the surface. The presented material has been prepared basing on the results of tests and measurements carded out at the Central Mining Institute.展开更多

Statistics of the number of these tremors indicated that many tremors were likely to occur when large increases in temperature and/or wind speed during the period. This implied that the rapid increase in temperature enhanced a melting speed of cryosphere environment with generating seismic energy;the tremors were also excited by stormy conditions, associated with interactive resonance between sea-ices and oceanic swells. The characteristic tremors of harmonic overtones with strong amplitudes were explained by repetitive sources, suggesting inter-glacial asperities such as the collision of icebergs and fast sea-ice, calving of glaciers/ice-streams at the coastal environment of Antarctica. These high amplitude tremors occurred independently from other majority types of events, characterized by non-linear, small amplitude and weak signals at the stormy condition and rapid increase in temperature.展开更多

In order to examine a relationship between surface environments in particular cryosphere variation, the MODIS satellite images were utilized for comparison with the detected tremor events. Since a large volume of sea-ice was discharged during the April, together with several large icebergs passed through from the west to the east at northern edge of the fast sea-ice of LHB, it was expected to detect seismic tremors involving cryospehre dynamics. During the month, a total number of 49 tremor events including short duration ice shocks were identified. Majority of the events (N = 39) had their duration times more than 15 minutes, which were divided into both tremors and ice shocks on the basis of experienced definition at SYO. Cryospheric sources recorded by seismic tremors were classified into several origins (collision, calving, crevassing, crashing, etc.): “crevassing events” along the large cracks inside the fast sea-ice in LHB (04 April), “discharge events” of fast sea-ice from the Bay (07 April), “collision events” between iceberg and the edge of fast sea-ice (14 April), “crashing movement” between fragmentation of fast sea-ice and packed sea-ice (18 April), and other origins. In particular, strong amplitude tremors with harmonic overtones were assumed to be occurred independently from whether condition, because these overtone tremors were identified at less stormy days by comparison with infrasound data at SYO.展开更多

Both structural magnetic resonance imaging and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were collected from nine Parkinson's disease patients with right resting tremor, and from eight age-matched normal controls. Regional homogeneity was compared between Parkinson's disease patients and controls. The results revealed that regional homogeneity was increased in several brain regions, including the right precuneus, right superior parietal gyrus, left anterior cingulate cortex, right middle frontal gyrus and right inferior frontal gyrus. Conversely, regional homogeneity was decreased in the cerebellar vermis in Parkinson's disease patients compared with healthy controls.展开更多

Subjects with CD and healthy controls completed an online survey using WHIGET tremor rating scale. One thousand five hundred and twelve subjects completed the survey, finally 674 CD patients and 290 healthy subjects were included. A higher prevalence of tremor in CD patients was observed in comparison to controls(28% vs 14%, P < 0.001). Frequency of family history of tremor in CD patients with and without tremor was 25% and 20%(P = 0.2), while in the control group it was 41% and 10%(P < 0.001). Controls with tremor showed a higher frequency of family history of tremor when compared to CD patients with tremor(41.5% vs 24.6%, P = 0.03). The results suggested that tremor in CD might be more frequent and possibly related to the disease itself and not due to associated essential tremor.展开更多

The information of the maximum tremor torque can be achieved exactly by means fusing the data of displacement sensor and the data of force sensor. Due to the slow change of the maximum tremor torque, the fuzzy neural network with single input variable and single output variable is adopted as the control algorithm, and the mathematic model of fuzzy neural network is worked out. The elbow tremor suppression model is established to provide tremor information for fuzzy neural network training and tremor suppression strategy simulation, then the off-line fuzzy neural network training is finished with the selected training data set,and the tremor suppression strategy is simulated. Simulation results show that the tremor suppression strategy has presented is effectually for the tremor suppression.展开更多

The results revealed that regional homogeneity was increased in several brain regions, including the right precuneus, right superior parietal gyrus, left anterior cingulate cortex, right middle frontal gyrus and right inferior frontal gyrus. Conversely, regional homogeneity was decreased in the cerebellar vermis in Parkinson's disease patients compared with healthy controls.

文摘Welding seam tracking precision was decreased due to human hand tremor during the master-slave welding teleoperation. To solve this problem, a master-slave robot remote welding system was built, the system consisted of a master manipulator with six degree of freedom ( DOF ) , an industrial computer control system and a slave Motoman HP3 J robot, and human hand tremor and digital filtering were discussed. An optimal digital filter was designed to clean human tremor signal for improving the welding seam tracking precision. The experimental results show that the digital filter suppresses the operator' s tremor signal.
文摘Neurological features in celiac disease(CD) are not rare(5%-36%), but tremor is scarcely described. The results suggested that tremor in CD might be more frequent and possibly related to the disease itself and not due to associated essential tremor.

文摘Based on the development of the performance of magnetorheological damper, the tremor suppression strategy that uses angle displacement sensor and force sensor to sense the information of the tremor and uses the fuzzy neural network as the control algorithm is presented. Simulation results show that the tremor suppression strategy has presented is effectually for the tremor suppression.
