Tw...Daily Total Column Ozone (TCO) measurements compiled from Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and Ozone Monitoring Instruments (OMI) were used to analyze the global and hemispherical TCO interannual variations. Two periods of TCO measurements were analyzed separately covering full years. For the 1978-1994 period, the TCO showed a global decade decrease rate of 13.45 DU (about -4.3%). For the Northern Hemisphere(NH) the decade decrease rate was of 12.96 DU (-4.0%), while in the Southern Hemisphere (SH) was of 13.57 DU (-4.5%). These decreases in ozone trends, using the totality of TOMS and OMI satellite measurements, are greater than those reported in literature. The 1998-2014 period global TCO decade decrease rate was of 1.56 DU, corresponding 0.94 DU and 0.138 DU for the NH and SH, respectively. The global TCO variations must show a double annual periodicity, the first one with maxima in March due to the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and the second one during September due to the Southern Hemisphere (SH). However, the maxima due to SH TCO interannual variations have gradually vanished. A disturbance in the SH TCO interannual variations has appeared since 1980;graphically the periodicity brakes down and transforms to a double peak from 1985 and on. This effect can be attributed to the hemispheric impact of the ozone hole at the South Pole. Between October 1, 2004 and December 14, 2005 TOMS and OMI have recorded this disturbance unequivocally. We conclude that the disturbance in SH TCO has an irreversible character.展开更多

TOMS is analyzed as an example of a company that took this approach and succeeded. The main research questions try to examine the basic assumptions of TOMS business model in light of shared value concept and uncover the reasons of company's success. The authors claim that two factors played there a crucial role. Firstly the leader whose passion was so contagious that he/she managed to build the team and set up a company based on his/her ideas. Secondly TOMS business model concept (One for One) is convincing for customers who eagerly join the movement. This business case illustrates how a company that is based on social values can grow.展开更多
This paper uses Dobson spectrometer total ozone data,Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer(TOMS) data and radiosonde reports from Kunming,which is located in southwest China,from 1980 to 2008 to analyze the total ozone-cli...This paper uses Dobson spectrometer total ozone data,Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer(TOMS) data and radiosonde reports from Kunming,which is located in southwest China,from 1980 to 2008 to analyze the total ozone-climate relationship.The total ozone decadal long-term trend and abrupt change were studied using enhanced Dobson data whose missing data were amended by the TOMS data.Stepwise linear regression was used for the selection of the key factors that influence total ozone,including temperatures,geopotential heights,depressions of the dew point,wind velocities,and total solar radiation.The relationship between the selected factors and total ozone was analyzed using the methods of stepwise regression and partial least squares regression(PLSR).Results showed that although the PLSR method was slightly better and more reasonable to study the relationship than stepwise regression,while the two regression results were only slightly different.It was also suggested that local climate,especially local circulation and temperature,were important for the variations in total ozone,and the local climate could almost linearly explain 80% of the variance of total ozone.The relationship also indicated that the abrupt change of total ozone in the year 1994 may be related to abrupt local climate change.展开更多

Methods Sixty patients with malignant tumor were di...Objective To discuss the effect of purulent moxibustion on Zusanli (足三里 ST 36) point on the clinical symptoms and life quality of patients with malignant tumor. Methods Sixty patients with malignant tumor were divided into an observation group and a control group with 30 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with purulent moxibustion on Zusanli (足三里 ST 36) in combination with herbal medicine; the control group was only treated with herbal medicine. After 80 days, the changes of the clinical symptoms and KPS of the two groups before and after the treatment were observed. Results The effective rates for the improvement of lassitude, poor appetite and insomnia in the observation group were 72.4% (21/29) ,25.0% (15/20) ,71.4% (15/21), and those in the control group were 42.9%(12/28) ,55.6% (10/18) ,42.9% (6/14), and there was no statistical significance of difference between the two groups(P〉0.05). KPS has statistical significance in the two groups after the treatment (P〈0.01),and the observation group was higher than the control group. Conclusion Purulent moxibustion on the point of Zusanli (足三里 ST 36) has certain effect to improve the clinical symptoms of patients with malignant tumor, and raise KPS and upgrade the life quality of patients.展开更多
Recent studies have shown that fibrotic scar formation following cerebral ischemic injury has varying effects depending on the microenvironment.However,little is known about how fibrosis is induced and regulated after...Recent studies have shown that fibrotic scar formation following cerebral ischemic injury has varying effects depending on the microenvironment.However,little is known about how fibrosis is induced and regulated after cerebral ischemic injury.Sonic hedgehog signaling participates in fibrosis in the heart,liver,lung,and kidney.Whether Shh signaling modulates fibrotic scar formation after cerebral ischemic stroke and the underlying mechanisms are unclear.In this study,we found that Sonic Hedgehog expression was upregulated in patients with acute ischemic stroke and in a middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion injury rat model.Both Sonic hedgehog and Mitofusin 2 showed increased expression in the middle cerebral artery occlusion rat model and in vitro fibrosis cell model induced by transforming growth factor-beta 1.Activation of the Sonic hedgehog signaling pathway enhanced the expression of phosphorylated Smad 3 and Mitofusin 2 proteins,promoted the formation of fibrotic scars,protected synapses or promoted synaptogenesis,alleviated neurological deficits following middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion injury,reduced cell apoptosis,facilitated the transformation of meninges fibroblasts into myofibroblasts,and enhanced the proliferation and migration of meninges fibroblasts.The Smad3 phosphorylation inhibitor SIS3 reversed the effects induced by Sonic hedgehog signaling pathway activation.Bioinformatics analysis revealed significant correlations between Sonic hedgehog and Smad3,between Sonic hedgehog and Mitofusin 2,and between Smad3 and Mitofusin 2.These findings suggest that Sonic hedgehog signaling may influence Mitofusin 2 expression by regulating Smad3 phosphorylation,thereby modulating the formation of early fibrotic scars following cerebral ischemic stroke and affecting prognosis.The Sonic Hedgehog signaling pathway may serve as a new therapeutic target for stroke treatment.展开更多
