Commonly, rest, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), corticosteroid injections, and mobilization, strengthening exercises will resolve most cases of SIS. The results of the long-term outcome of these treatments, however, are not promising. Purpose: This study focuses on the effect of scapular taping and conventional Physical therapy in increasing isometric muscle strength, decreasing pain, improving function in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome. Study design: Double blinded randomised controlled clinical trial. Subjects were assessed by a blinded researcher using standard physiotherapy measures, Shoulder Pain and Disability Index questionnaire (SPADI), and isometric muscle strength measured using digital dynamo meter. Methodology: The patients in the treatment group (scapular taping group) received scapular taping with conventional exercises and the control group (no scapula taping) group received conventional exercise. Result: When comparing the scores using unpaired t-test with P value set at <0.05, high level of significance was noted for flexor, abductor, external rotator muscle force and SPADI. Conclusion: Scapular taping may be a useful adjunct for promoting proper scapular kinetics & upper thoracic extension and should be used in conjunction with other interventions.展开更多

Its results are considered empirical and no study reports its effect observed by a lymphocyte count study. Purpose: To verify the performance of lymphatic taping in the lymphatic system using lymphoscintigraphy examination. Methods: A 44-year-old male patient with no clinical signs of lymphatic alteration underwent lymphoscintigraphy examination prior to and after application of lymphatic taping in the upper and lower limbs on different days of placement to verify if the use of lymphatic taping may influence the lymph flow. Results: The result was an improvement in the lymphatic flow with application of lymphatic taping only in the lower limbs, where the taping acted only for 24 hours. There was a greater amount of radiopharmaceutical extracted in the feet of the patient, comparing pre- and post-application of taping. At the foot of the left lower limb, the absorption ratio doubled. There was also improvement in the right limb, but on a smaller scale. Conclusion: Through the evaluation of the lymphatic system by lymphoscintigraphy it can be observed that the values analyzed are relatively higher when the patient has lymphatic taping applied with both 10% and 20% of tension in the lower limbs.展开更多

Clinicians tape the foot to alleviate pain and prevent further injuries, whilst allowing the athlete to continue training. However, the effect of taping is not conclusive. The purpose of this study is to investigate if taping effectively improves foot structure, functional foot stability and reduces excessive foot movements during running. Twenty-two subjects had their foot structure identified as: fiat foot stable, fiat foot unstable and normal arched unstable according to the FPI (foot posture index) and the Modified Romberg's Test with the BESS (balance error scoring system) criteria. The subjects ran on an instrumented treadmill barefooted with their feet taped and untaped. Running kinetic and kinematic data were collected and analysed using a paired t-test and 3x2 ANOVA. Taping improved foot structure but not functional foot stability. During running, taping significantly reduced rearfoot eversion. Taping increased the loading rate in the fiat foot and normal arched unstable groups but reduced the loading rate for the flat foot stable group. Implication on the appropriate use of foot taping was discussed.展开更多

Nevertheless, most victims do survive and need treatment, and hand function is one that has to be dealt with in the rehabilitation process. Kinesio®?Taping (KT) is a bandaging method that can be applied along the muscle fibers to provide stimulation. Studies have shown its efficacy in providing afferent stimuli to weakened muscles, thus eliciting contraction with greater recruiting of motor units and inducing neuroplasticity. Benefits to the paresthesia hand have not been reported. Objective: Investigate the effects of KT on hand function in hemiparetic patients. Material and Methods: An evaluator-blinded, randomized clinical trial involving stroke victims was carried out in a physical therapy outpatient clinic. One group underwent KT intervention and the other was a control group. The Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) and the Box and Block Test (BBT) were used as assessment tools. A data entry form was used in the Epi-info 7 software and descriptive statistics was thus calculated. The software BioStat 5.0 was employed when doing statistical tests. Associations were regarded as statistically significant when p 0.05. Results: Eight individuals were randomly assigned to two groups. All those who had received treatment with KT had spasticity improved by one point, but there was no significant improvement in BBT. Conclusion: KT was effective when it came to improving spasticity and it may be an option in rehab, but it had no effect on gross manual dexterity. Nevertheless, it can be of help as part of a functional training program.展开更多

The taping process is a special process which requires correct surface covering strategy and proper attachment of the masking tape for an efficient surface protection. We have introduced an automatic robot taping system consist- ing of a robot manipulator, a rotating platform, a 3D scanner and specially designed taping end-effectors. This paper mainly talks about the surface covering strategies for different classes of geometries. The methods and corre- sponding taping tools are introduced for taping of following classes of surfaces: Cylindrical/extended sur- faces, freeform surfaces with no grooves, surfaces with grooves, and rotational symmetrical surfaces. A collision avoidance algorithm is introduced for the robot taping manipulation. With further improvements on segmenting surfaces of taping parts and tape cutting mechanisms, such taping solution with the taping tool and the taping methodology can be combined as a very useful and practical taping package to assist humans in this tedious and time costly work.展开更多

Maxwell's equations and the critical state-Bean model are used to analytically determine the magnetic flux density and electromagnetic force distributions in superconducting tapes containing central and edge oblique cracks. The distributed dislocation technique(DDT) transforms the mixed boundary value problem into a Cauchy singular integral equation, which is then solved by the Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature method to determine the stress intensity factors(SIFs).The model's accuracy is validated by comparing the calculated electromagnetic force distribution for the edge oblique crack and the SIFs for both crack types with the existing results. The findings indicate that the current and electromagnetic forces are significantly affected by the crack length and oblique angle. Specifically, for central oblique cracks, a smaller oblique angle enhances the risk of crack propagation, and a higher initial magnetization intensity poses greater danger under field cooling(FC) excitation. In contrast, for edge oblique cracks, a larger angle increases the likelihood of tape fractures. This study provides important insights into the fracture behavior and mechanical failure mechanisms of superconducting tapes with oblique cracks.展开更多

Howeve...The immerging three dimensional(3D) metal-organic framework(MOF)-reinforced composite solid-state electrolytes have attracted great interest because of the enhanced ionic conductivity and mechanical properties. However, the defective spatial arrangement of MOFs restricted by fabrication methodology leads to insufficient lithium ion transport in electrolytes. Herein, a 3D interconnected MOF framework tailored for all-solid-state electrolytes is rationally designed by a universal polydopamine(PDA)-engineered "double-sided tape" strategy. The PDA serves as a double-sided tape, firmly adhering on the special single-layer Nylon grid as well as offering uniform nucleation sites to anchor the metal nodes to ensure continuous growth of well-ordered MOFs. Benefiting from the Lewis acid feature of MOFs and its cage effect toward TFSI^(-), a fast and homogeneous lithium ion transport can be achieved through the internal channels within neighboring MOFs and the continuous MOFs/polymer interfaces both along the short-range circumferential boundary of Nylon fiber. The resultant composite electrolytes exhibit high lithium ion conductivity and prominent mechanical properties, rendering excellent cyclic stability whether used in coin or pouch cells. This work demonstrates a widely applicable "double-sided tape"strategy for controllable spatial arrangement of MOF nanoparticles on optional substrates, which provides a scalable approach to rationally construct desired lithium ion pathways within composite electrolytes.展开更多

In the first group, KT was used three times for 24 hours sequentially with four-day intervals;in the second group, one dose of Methyl Prednisolone (40 mg) plus 1% lidocaine was injected in the bicipital fissure around the long head of the biceps muscle. The injections and KT therapy were performed by the same physician. The patients were investigated for VAS and ROM in the first, second, seventh and twelfth days. Results: VAS and ROM indices were significantly improved in the second and seventh days (p 0.05). Conclusion: Regarding the more immediate effect of KT on ROM and VAS and the fast restoring of the patient to normal life, it could be used as a noninvasive alternative to injection and as the first line of treatment specially in patients who need the immediate effect of treatment.
文摘Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) has been described as the most common form of shoulder pathology argued that 100% of impingement lesions and 95% of rotator cuff pathology are caused by friction between the acromion and surrounding tissues within the subacromial space. Conclusion: Scapular taping may be a useful adjunct for promoting proper scapular kinetics & upper thoracic extension and should be used in conjunction with other interventions.
文摘Introduction: Lymphatic taping has been used extensively in several areas of physical therapy, and has been prominent in the treatment of edema. Conclusion: Through the evaluation of the lymphatic system by lymphoscintigraphy it can be observed that the values analyzed are relatively higher when the patient has lymphatic taping applied with both 10% and 20% of tension in the lower limbs.
文摘Running related foot injuries are associated with excessive foot movements due to malaligned foot structure and poor functional foot stability. Implication on the appropriate use of foot taping was discussed.

文摘Kinesio taping is actually a kind of elastic treatment band which is stuck on the skin surface and is used for treating sports injuries and various other conditions[1].Kinesio taping was first invented and created by Dr.Kenzo Kase in 1973 and applied in the field of sports medicine[2].After improvement,it has become an elastic patch with low allergy and no drug ingredients. It has certain air permeability and waterproof characteristics.it is mainly made of waterproof elastic cotton cloth, release material and medical acrylic glue[3].The application of kinesio taping is not only limited to sports injuries with obvious clinical symptoms, but also widely used in prevention and treatment of sports injuries, improvement of sports performance and treatment of lymphedema in clinical.
文摘Introduction: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the second most frequent cause of death in the world. Nevertheless, it can be of help as part of a functional training program.

文摘Taping is often used to protect patterned wafers and reduce fragmentation during backgrinding of silicon wafers.Grinding experiments using coarse and fine resinbond diamond grinding wheels were performed on silicon wafers with tapes of different thicknesses to investigate the effects of taping on peak-to-valley(PV),surface roughness, and subsurface damage of silicon wafers after grinding. Results showed that taping in backgrinding could provide effective protection for ground wafers from breakage. However, the PV value, surface roughness, and subsurface damage of silicon wafers with taping deteriorated compared with those without taping although the deterioration extents were very limited. The PV value of silicon wafers with taping decreased with increasing mesh size of the grinding wheel and the final thickness. The surface roughness and subsurface damage of silicon wafers with taping decreased with increasing mesh size of grinding wheel but was not affected by removal thickness. We hope the experimental finding could help fully understand the role of taping in backgrinding.
文摘Covering objects with masking tapes is a common process for surface protection in processes like spray painting, plasma spraying, shot peening, etc. Manual taping is tedious and takes a lot of effort of the workers. With further improvements on segmenting surfaces of taping parts and tape cutting mechanisms, such taping solution with the taping tool and the taping methodology can be combined as a very useful and practical taping package to assist humans in this tedious and time costly work.
文摘This study involved numerical simulations of a double tube heat exchanger using the ANSYS FLUENT programversion 22.The study aims to examine methods for minimizing pressure loss and consequently enhancing the thermal performance index(TPI)of a heat exchanger fitted with wavy edge tape that is a heat recovery system(the hot air in simulation instead of t heat from the exhaust gases of the brick factory furnaces and return it to warm the heavy fuel oil by substituting the electrical heater with a heat exchanger to recuperate waste heat from the flue gases,so elevating the temperature of Heavy fuel oil(HFO)to inject from the roof nozzles of combustion chamber of the furnace furthermore reducing cost(by finding the optimal design of wavy edge tape))and energy consumption.Air was selected as the hot gas in the inner pipe instead of furnace exhaust gases due to their similar thermal characteristics.A numerical analysis was conducted to create a novel wavy edge tape with varying widths(50%Di,75%Di,and 95%Di),lengths(1000,1200,1400)mm,amplitudes(5,10,15)mm,and periods of wavy length(5,10,15)mm.The flow rate of the outer pipe fluid(oil)ranges from(0.06 to 0.1)kg/s,while the velocity of the hot fluid(air)varies from(1 to 27)m/s,Re_(air)(6957 to 187,837).The entrance temperature of the hot fluid can be either(200,225,and 250)℃.The study finds that wavy edge tape tubes are more effective than smooth tubes in terms of oil outlet temperature;results revealed that an increase in the oil mass flow rate leads to a decrease in the oil outlet temperature and an increase in the heat transfer rate,at the air temperature 250℃.Additionally,the results indicate that increasing the width, length, and amplitude also leads to an increase in the oil outlet temperature of(94-94.12)℃,the pressure drop of(568.3)Pa,and the Nusselt number(65.7-66.5)respectively on the oil side. Finally, the heat exchanger’s best thermal performance index was found by investigating temperature contour at amplitude(A=5),period(p=15),width(w=75%Di),and length(L=1200 mm).The values for these parameters are,in order(1.02,1.025,1.02,and 1.0077).

文摘The fracture behavior of superconducting tapes with central and edge oblique cracks subject to electromagnetic forces is investigated. This study provides important insights into the fracture behavior and mechanical failure mechanisms of superconducting tapes with oblique cracks.

文摘We introduce a scheme aiming at the generation of quasi-monochromatic carbon ion bunches from laser-solid interaction. The proposed scheme is an extension of the“peeler”acceleration originally proposed for proton acceleration, which involves irradiating the narrow(submicrometer)side of a tape target. This results in the generation of a surface plasma wave and the subsequent acceleration of a proton bunch with high peak energy,quasi-monochromaticity,low energy bandwidth, and low divergence by the electrostatic field induced at the target rear.Up to now,the higher-Z(e.g.,carbon)ion bunches obtained with the peeler scheme have been found to exhibit an exponentially decaying thermal-like energy spectrum. To achieve a low energy bandwidth,we place a mass-limited carbon structure at the rear of the target.Using 3D particle-in-cell simulations,we show that a quasi-monochromatic carbon bunch can indeed be obtained. With a multi-PW laser pulse,10^(8) carbon ions with peak energy~110 MeV/u and with a divergence of 20° in the vertical plane and~1° in the horizontal plane can be generated. The quasi-monochromaticity,together with the low duration of the beam and in combination with the versatility of high-power laser facilities, should make this scheme attractive for practical applications such as heavy ion cancer therapy and higher-resolution diagnostics of extreme plasma states.
文摘Heat augmentation techniques play a vital role in the heating and cooling processes in industries, including solar collectors and many applications that utilize heat exchangers.Several studies are based on inserting fillers inside the tubes to enhance heat transfer. This investigation considered the effects of twisted tapes with large holes on a tubular heat exchanger’s(HX)heat transmission, pressure drop, and thermal boosting factor. In the experimental section,counter-swirl flow generators used twisted tapes with pairs of 1.0 cm-diameter holes and changes in porosity(Rp)at 1.30%and 2.70%.In the experiments, air was utilized as a working fluid in a tube with a circular cross-section.The turbulent flow was considered, with Reynolds numbers(Re)domain from 4800 to 9500,and a boundary condition with a uniform wall heat flux was constructed. The findings expound that when the number of holes rose, the Nusselt number(Nu),the factor of friction(f),and the thermal enhancement factor(η)all increased as well.Additionally,as the friction factor increased, the Nusselt number of the tape-equipped tube was noticeably higher.Additionally,it was discovered that the friction factor was between 70%and 94%lower than the values of the tube without tape, while the(Nu)was between 87%and 97%higher than the conventional tube values. The maximum value ofηis 89%.According to the experimental results, empirical correlations for Nu,f,andηwere also generated.

文摘Heteroconchia,a widespread and abundant aquatic invertebrate,is an important clade of bivalve mollusks. The relationship between the three branches of Heteroconchia,Palaeoheterodonta,Archiheterodonta, and Euheterodonta has become a main controversy in molecular studies of the relationships between bivalves. In the present study,we assembled the complete mitochondrial genomes of Tapes dorsatus(Veneridae)and Cardita variegata(Carditidae)using high-throughput sequencing.C.variegata is the first mitochondrial genome belonging to the family Carditidae to be reported. We used 12 protein coding genes(excluding atp8)from the complete mitochondrial genomes of 146 species to recover the internal relationships of Heteroconchia. Our results support the traditional view of early branching of Palaeoheterodonta and the recovery of the monophyly of Palaeoheterodonta,Anomalodesmata,Imparidentia.Rearrangement analysis show that gene arrangement within Venerida was highly variable.Time-calibrated phylogenetic studies based on a relaxed molecular clock model suggested that Veneridae originated approximately 337.62 million years ago(Ma)and split into two major clades, whereas Carditidae originated approximately 510.09 Ma.Our results provide evidence of the internal relationships of Heteroconchia.

文摘The immerging three dimensional(3D) metal-organic framework(MOF)-reinforced composite solid-state electrolytes have attracted great interest because of the enhanced ionic conductivity and mechanical properties. This work demonstrates a widely applicable "double-sided tape"strategy for controllable spatial arrangement of MOF nanoparticles on optional substrates, which provides a scalable approach to rationally construct desired lithium ion pathways within composite electrolytes.
