Vein recognition exploits the different modalities such as finger, palm and hand image for the person identification. In this work, the fuzzy least brain storm optimization and Euclidean distance(EED) are proposed for the vein based recognition system. Initially, the input image is fed into the region of interest(ROI) extraction which obtains the appropriate image for the subsequent step. Then, features or vein pattern is extracted by the image enlightening, circular averaging filter and holoentropy based thresholding. After the features are obtained, the entropy based Euclidean distance is proposed to fuse the features by the score level fusion with the weight score value. Finally, the optimal matching score is computed iteratively by the newly developed fuzzy least brain storm optimization(FLBSO) algorithm. The novel algorithm is developed by the least mean square(LMS) algorithm and fuzzy brain storm optimization(FBSO). Thus, the experimental results are evaluated and the performance is compared with the existing systems using false acceptance rate(FAR), false rejection rate(FRR) and accuracy. The performance outcome of the proposed algorithm attains the higher accuracy of 89.9% which ensures the better recognition rate.展开更多

Three years’ rain rate time-series data measured by a raingauge located inside the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria were utilized for the purpose of this work. The analysis is based on the CDF of one-minute rain rate;time-series simulated annual/seasonal and diurnal rain rate, rain attenuation statistics and fade margins observed over four time intervals: 00:00-06:00, 06:00-12:00, 12:00-18:00 and 18:00-24:00. In addition, comparison was also made between the synthesized values and rain attenuation statistics, at 12.245 GHz for a hypothetical downlink from EUTELSAT W4/W7 satellite in the area. It could be observed that at 99.99% link availability, the fade margin as high as ~20 dB may be required at Ku band uplink frequency bands in this area. We also observed that the communication downlinks working in the early morning and early to late in the evening hours must be compensated with an appropriate Down-Link Power Control (DLPC) for optimum performances during severe atmospheric influences in the region.展开更多

Because of recurrent electrical storms refractory to iv antiarrhythmic drugs the patient was referred to our institution to undergo catheter ablation. During electrophysiological proce-dure a 3D shell of cardiac anatomy was created with intracardiac echocardiography pointing out a significant right ventricular dilatation with a complex aneurysmal lesion characterized by thin walls and irregular multiple trabeculae. A substrate-guided strategy of catheter ab-lation was accomplished leading to a complete electri-cal isolation of the aneurism and to the abolishment of all abnormal electrical activities. The use of advanced strategies of imaging together with electroanatomical mapping added important information to the complex arrhythmogenic substrate and improved efficacy and safety.展开更多

This system contains natural sub-creeks as drainage channels discharging overflow to nearby creeks, an open green trench, a storage pond, and natural sub-creeks. The sub -creeks were designed to be integrated into community landscape, which not only increases the efficiency of water usage, but also improves the aesthetic qualities of the community residence area as required by Agenda 21. This research proved the feasibility of an open storm water collection and utilization system for the design of a community water system.展开更多

Skillful and reliable NWP of convective storms could allow for severe weather warnings with longer lead times, as opera- tional forecasters begin to incorporate convective-scale fore- casts into severe weather forecast operations (Stensrud et al., 2009, 2013). This would then provide vulnerable individuals and industries with more time to seek shelter and/or mitigate the impact of severe weather hazards.展开更多

Both the RDAPS and KWRF are the operational weather forecasting system in KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration). The horizontal resolutions of RDAPS and KWRF are 30 and 10 km, respectively. The storm surges/tide was hind casted using sea wind and pressure fields of two Typhoons which was approaching Korean Peninsula. The CTSM using input from KWRF simulate very well the storm surges/tide pattern in the complex coastal areas. The result showed that the storm surges by the coastal storm surges/tide model with high resolution input was in well agreement with the observed sea level occurred by high tide and storm surges in the coastal areas.展开更多

The scattering of dust particles inevitably brings the multipath transmission of the signal, multipath propagation will bring the multipath fading of the signal. In this paper, we first investigate the use of AF and DF modes in a sand-dust storm environment. Secondly, we present a low-order modulation method should be used in cooperative communication system. Lastly, we evaluate the system performance for both of the moving nodes and power allocation. Experimental results validate the conclusion of theoretical derivation: the multipath fading is one of the main factors that affect the quality of signal transmission. Cooperative communication technology has good anti-fading ability, which can guarantee the signal transmission timely and correctly.展开更多

For the nodes or links which are not affected by the ice storm, we use the calculation with “the mean time between failures (MTBF)” and “the mean time to repair” (MTTR) to put forward the calculation methods;for the OPGW cable which influenced greater in ice storm, we use the fiber excess length and the elongation of fiber optic cable. It obtains all the paths of the network through improved adjacency matrix method, and then it uses binary decision diagram to obtain the overall reliability of the network. By testing the network nodes and links using “N-1” inspection, the key nodes and key links can be obtained. Finally, considering the importance degree of network transmission business, the reliability evaluation method of power system communication network based on the risk theory in the case of the ice storm has been put forward, and the example to verify that the method can provide the basis for the reliability assessment of the power system communication in the case of the ice storm has been given.展开更多

文摘In this study,we analyze the impact of the May 2024 geomagnetic storm on the thermospheric mass density by using TianMu-1 constellation satellite(TM02,TM06,TM07,TM11,TM15)observations.These observations reveal intense large-scale traveling atmospheric disturbances(TADs)originating at high latitudes and propagating equatorward.Observations by TM02 captured the evolution of a TAD structure:An initial amplitude of~3.89×10^(-12)kg/m^(3)at hundred-kilometer scale subsequently intensified to 4.78×10^(-12)kg/m^(3),with the spatial extent expanding to the thousand-kilometer level.Significant hemispheric asymmetry was observed:the absolute density was higher predominantly in the northern hemisphere(TM02,TM06,TM07,TM11),whereas the difference in the relative density consistently showed greater enhancements in the southern hemisphere across all satellites, with the maximum north-south density differences exceeding 195%-640%above 60°latitude.In conjunction with SuperDARN(Super Dual Auroral Radar Network)observations, this striking hemispheric asymmetry can likely be attributed to disparities in plasma convection patterns between the two hemispheres.Furthermore, density perturbation characteristics exhibited strong local time(LT)dependence:Near noon(~10.7 LT,TM02 descending),the northern hemisphere onset preceded the southern onset.Conversely, near dusk(~17.6 LT,TM15 descending),the southern onset led the northern onset by approximately 3 hours.Ascending orbits(TM02,TM06,TM07,TM15)typically yielded larger global density enhancements compared with smaller southern-confined enhancements during descending orbits.Satellite TM11 showed comparable perturbations in both ascending and descending orbits.By leveraging its unique orbital architecture, the TianMu-1 constellation enables global near-simultaneous multi-LT sampling, providing a robust data foundation for both scientific research and engineering applications.

文摘BACKGROUND Thyroid storm is resistant to conventional treatments including antithyroid drugs and 131I therapeutic means.Plasma exchange(PE)and double plasma molecular absorption system(DPMAS)can be used as an effective treatment for thyroid storm with severe liver injury.CASE SUMMARY A 52-year-old woman presented with a 10-day history of nausea and vomiting accompanied by yellowing of the skin and mucosa.Further, her free T3(FT3)and FT4 levels were significantly elevated, whereas her thyrotropin level was reduced. After admission, her condition continued to deteriorate, and she presented with continued high fever, vomiting, palpitation, and shortness of breath. After being diagnosed with thyroid storm, the patient was immediately treated with PE combined with DPMAS.Her symptoms improved immediately. After three PE+DPMAS treatments, and she was discharged from the hospital. She was treated with methylprednisolone and methylthimidazole. After six months, the patient spontaneously discontinued methylthimidazole treatment. Her previous clinical manifestations and liver dysfunction reoccurred. The patient was treated with PE+DPMAS two times, and her condition rapidly improved.Liver histopathology indicated immunological liver injury.CONCLUSION Our experience suggests that PE combined with DPMAS can effectively relieve the development of thyroid storm.
文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a devastating worldwide pandemic infection caused by a severe acute respiratory syndrome namely coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)that is associated with a high spreading and mortality rate.On the date this review was written,SARS-CoV-2 infected about 96 million people and killed about 2 million people.Several arguments disclosed the high mortality of COVID-19 due to acute respiratory distress syndrome or change in the amount of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptor expression or cytokine storm strength production. In a similar pattern, hepatic impairment patients co-infected with SARS-CoV-2 exhibited overexpression of ACE2 receptors and cytokine storm overwhelming, which worsens the hepatic impairment and increases the mortality rate.In this review, the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on hepatic impairment conditions we overviewed.Besides,we focused on the recent studies that indicated cytokine storm as well as ACE2 as the main factors for high COVID-19 spreading and mortality while hinting at the potential therapeutic strategies.
文摘Nowadays, the vein based recognition system becomes an emerging and facilitating biometric technology in the recognition system. The performance outcome of the proposed algorithm attains the higher accuracy of 89.9% which ensures the better recognition rate.
文摘In this paper, a time-varying rain characterization and diurnal variation in the Ku-band satellite systems simulated with synthetic storm techniques (SST) over a tropical location in Nigeria have been presented. We also observed that the communication downlinks working in the early morning and early to late in the evening hours must be compensated with an appropriate Down-Link Power Control (DLPC) for optimum performances during severe atmospheric influences in the region.

文摘In this paper,a statistical method called Generalized Equilibrium Feedback Analysis(GEFA)is used to investigate the responses of the North Pacific Storm Track(NPST)in the cold season to the multi-scale oceanic variations of the Kuroshio Extension(KE)system, including its large-scale variation, oceanic front meridional shift, and mesoscale eddy activity. Results show that in the cold season from the lower to the upper troposphere, the KE large-scale variation significantly weakens the storm track activity over the central North Pacific south of 30°N.The northward shift of the KE front significantly strengthens the storm track activity over the western and central North Pacific south of 40°N,resulting in a southward shift of the NPST.In contrast, the NPST response to KE mesoscale eddy activity is not so significant and relatively shallow, which only shows some significant positive signals near the dateline in the lower and middle troposphere.Furthermore,it is found that baroclinicity and baroclinic energy conversion play an important role in the formation of the NPST response to the KE multi-scale oceanic variations.

文摘It is imperative to develop a risk assessment system for quickly predicting storm surge disaster due to the vulnerability of Tianjin Binhai New Area. The flood routing model with user-defined breaches was firstly estab- lished based on the seed spread algorithm in order to achieve a rapid forecasting of storm surge flood information. Furthermore, fuzzy mathematics was utilized to identify the storm disaster grade, and the hazard mapping was con- ducted to visually obtain the hazard spatial and temporal distribution. Finally, the flood routing visuaUzation method was proposed based on numerical simulation of storm surge to achieve the reappearance scene of dynamic evolution process. The developed system can play a vital role in the management and decision-making of sea dyke mitigation engineering in Tianjin Binhai New Area.
文摘We report the case of a 63-year-old woman affected by a severe form of systemic scleroderma with pul-monary involvement(interstitial fibrosis diagnosed by biopsy and moderate pulmonary hypertension) and cardiac involvement(paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, right atrial flutter treated by catheter ablation, ventricular tachyarrhythmias, previous dual chamber implantable cardioverter defibrillator implant). The use of advanced strategies of imaging together with electroanatomical mapping added important information to the complex arrhythmogenic substrate and improved efficacy and safety.
文摘The authors designed an ecological storm water system in a residential area to replace the conventional underground channels for the collection of storm water so as to reduce the nutrients and sediments discharged. This research proved the feasibility of an open storm water collection and utilization system for the design of a community water system.
文摘Forecasting convective storms using NWP models is an important goal and a highly active area of ongoing research. Skillful and reliable NWP of convective storms could allow for severe weather warnings with longer lead times, as opera- tional forecasters begin to incorporate convective-scale fore- casts into severe weather forecast operations (Stensrud et al., 2009, 2013). This would then provide vulnerable individuals and industries with more time to seek shelter and/or mitigate the impact of severe weather hazards.
文摘This study was performed to compare storm surges/tide simulated by the regional and coastal storm surges/tide forecast system (RTSM (regional tide/storm surges model), CTSM (coastal tide/storm surges model)) using two different inputs from weather models (RDAPS (Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System) and KWRF (Korea Weather and Research Forecasting)) during two typhoons that occurred between 2007 and 2008. The result showed that the storm surges by the coastal storm surges/tide model with high resolution input was in well agreement with the observed sea level occurred by high tide and storm surges in the coastal areas.

文摘To describe the dynamic process of flood routing intuitively and realistically when storm surge disaster occurs,a method for ArcGIS data and Google Earth(GE) data integration is proposed, which realizes the importing and integrating of basic geographic information into GE. Based on SketchUp and AutoCAD software,threedimension(3D) visualization of seawall and other tidal defense structures is achieved. By employing Microsoft Foundation Class Library(MFC),the related system modules and storm surge flood routing dynamic visualization system are developed. Therefore, dynamic visualization of flood routing process and interactive query of submerged area and inundated depth are implemented. A practical application case study of Tianjin Binhai New Area provides decision-making support for coastal seawall planning and storm surge disaster prevention and reduction.
文摘There are many factors that influence the propagation of electromagnetic wave in the sand-dust storm environment, the scattering effect of dust particle is one of the major factors, so this paper focuses on the dust particles scattering function. Cooperative communication technology has good anti-fading ability, which can guarantee the signal transmission timely and correctly.
文摘This paper is divided into two cases to study the communication transmission equipment reliability in the state of the ice storm, according to the huge losses of power system communication caused by the ice storm. Finally, considering the importance degree of network transmission business, the reliability evaluation method of power system communication network based on the risk theory in the case of the ice storm has been put forward, and the example to verify that the method can provide the basis for the reliability assessment of the power system communication in the case of the ice storm has been given.
